Genuinely nice guy and puts in the effort. Spends a lot of time going off topic from lectures which leads him to be rushed on midterms and finals, but they are fair. got a B
An excellent teacher! He is the most passionate and caring teachers I have ever had had at Langara. By far, my favorite teacher. He is willing to lend that extra hand to make sure you understand. Take without hesitation, you will NOT be dissapointed!
Great Prof!
Nice guy. Easy to talk to. Very helpful during labs. Have the tendency to go off topic from his lecture to much more interesting stuff than Chemistry. Most girls I know have/had a crush on him.
Great teacher! He goes around helping people during the labs. He's always there when you need him. His quizzes are slighty hard but it prepares you for his midterms.
One of the nicest profs I have ever met! He helped me a lot and took the time to listen to his students. He does not like to trick his students and tries his best to lay down clearly what is expected. Quizzes are so straightforward that at times, you mess up because you believe he is trying to trick you but he is not! Wish I could have him again.
Nathan Jones is my favorite professor after almost 4 years in post secondary. He made learning chemistry engaging as well as easy to understand, his lectures are thorough enough to learn all of the information necessary and concise enough to keep you interested. I would strongly recommend any course with him as a professor.
Great teacher!! :) his classes are really helpful and interesting. the quizzes and tests are really straightforward! and not tricky at all. He helps you a lot in the labs!
His tests and quizzes are easy but he does not know how to teach its all over the place and he gets off topic then expects the class to study the material on their own just because he went off topic. Its an easy class but you need to put in alot of your own time
Nathan really wants his students to do well, he is extremely helpful and caring. However, he is very intelligent which is fantastic, but this creates some gaps when he skips steps and assumes the class is following. His teaching style for Chem 1114 is different than the book. However, if you follow all the questions in the book you will be fine.
Awesome Teacher! Extremely passionate and inspiring, he will teach you everything you need to know as well as make the class interesting with plenty of cool facts. Really wants the class to succeed.
Great teacher! Really passionate about teaching. Made me like chemistry :)
Best teacher you could ever had, very nice guy! He encourages students and he is super reasonable and nice. He is always patient and intends to push student up not push you down. My another C.S. teacher purposely downgrade my final grade to a lower level this term, big difference between the 2 teachers. Jones you are the best.
A warning, his Inorganic Chem can be fundamentally difficult. I barely passed, but still, I'll give the prof a thumbs up for being considerate and passionate for the subject. Might retake the course...
Making chem interesting is difficult, but he makes learning fun and is a great teacher!
Fun prof
Nathan has a great passion for chemistry. EVERY morning the moment he arrives to class he says "today's a GREAT day for chemistry" with a smile. His midterms are mostly based on his notes, he doesn't refer to the textbook much. He's really fair on his midterms/final and you should have no problems if you review your notes accurately. Great Prof!
Nathan is by far the best teacher I've ever had. He was always helping me understand the topics better. Also he explains everything very clearly. He isn't boring at all and I would recommend him over any prof any day.
literally the greatest prof I have ever had, get in his class, srs!
Nice guy but is not organized. Major procrastinator.
Great prof. He is totally hilarious and feels as if he is one of my peers. He's not intimidating and really easy to talk to. If you follow up with his homework (optional) and study then its an easy pass
This semester was Nathan's first time teaching 1118 and he did a pretty good job. Notes are clear and his tests are tough but fair. Expect anything from his "Lists of things to know". Always willing to help after class or during his office hours. I never liked Chem in high school but he found a way to make it kind of interesting. Watch Pulp Fiction
Today is a great day for Chemistry
BEST BEST AND WATCH PULP FICTION
Probably one of the best profs i've ever had. He sets you up for success! Notes are easy to follow along with and he is more than willing to give you extra help if necessary. His expectations of what you should know for tests, midterms, and finals are super clear. He even prints you out things you should study. ITS A GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY
He is a very good professor and his notes are easy to follow. Also give feedback and extra help if needed.
fantastic overall teacher, very relatable and easy to talk to when you have any problems
I must say he's the best prof I've ever had in my academic career. Not often will you find a teacher with this much passion and drive to teach students and inspire them to do better in school. I wish all teachers adopted his teaching ways. He is clear in lecture, midterms, and will even help you in the labs. Its a GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY!!!
He is simply the greatest Chemistry teacher. Just go for him.
ITS A GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY. I never liked chemistry until I took it with Nathan. Possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is enthusiastic, approachable and very helpful. Really wants to see his students succeed.
Nathan is absolutely a delight. He's witty and explains chemistry in a way that makes it feel more intuitive. Also has excellent taste in music and movies.
Greatest instructor ever ever!! ITS BEEN A GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY!!!
It's a great day for Chemistry!
Great guy, very engaging and makes a difficult subject interesting! Tests are mainly based off his notes and is very straightforward with his expectations.
its a great day for chemistry.....
good guy, helpful if gets late gives us a secound chance ... GIves good grades..
he is a great teacher and is really helpful..... moreover he makes everday great for chemistry!
I love the way he explains things
Nathan is a great chemistry teach he would always like to help you. In his class, everyday is a great day for Chemistry.
Nathan ensures that everyone understands the material and is very approachable when help is needed. Expectations in his class are clear and his enthusiasm for chemistry makes class exciting. It's a great day for chemistry in his class!
Nathan is an awesome teacher! He really knows what he is talking about, and makes the class more interesting by the way he teaches. He's a funny guy as well. One of my favourite teachers by far.
a man with sence of humour.
ITS A GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY. He is so clear, easy to follow, gives a clear criteria of what you should know for exams. Gives bonus optional homework towards your final grade !!!
"THIS IS A GREAT DAY FOR CHEMISTRY" something that boosts the students to come over in class and makes energetic even more than before.
pretty neat guy, would take again
Dr Jones is an amazing professor. He has done a very good job of teaching chem 1120 even though I have learned some of the information before. His lectures are extremely good and some times when the topic gets complicated, he uses some analogical examples that in so many cases can make it so much easier. Finally, "it is a great day for chemistry".
They way he describes the complicated things with simple examples makes the things very simple and always we learn many new things in the class
Nathan is an incredible professor, he truly cares about his students succeeding and thoroughly explains what he is teaching while making it interesting and fun. We happy? Yeah we happy!
Nathan is such a positive and caring teacher. He always tries his best to teach the material clearly so that everybody can understand. definitely recommend him!
A good teacher who gives you great support.
Nathan is a great professor. He always tries to make lectures exciting and as clear as possible. He has the best analogies! Would 100% recommend
Nathan is a great teacher! Comes prepared to class, clearly states his expextations and always offers extra help. He is also easy on the eyes and fun in general. Puts in a great deal of effort to make the class interesting .
Definitely the hallmark of a great teacher. He obviously enjoys teaching and cares about how well his students are doing. He hands out a comprehensive list of need to know information for each quiz and midterm. If you can answer them you'll do fine on the exams.
He is very helpful in studies to solve problems.
Good at teaching, able to understand fully
Nathan makes you feel you are only in the class for learning not for marks. He tries his best to explain concepts in a way that everybody understands. His tests contain different types of questions so that everyone could handle if not all the questions, a noticeable portion of them so that nobody feels she/he is the worst in chemistry.
Super informative and really makes sure that everyone understands the concept. My favourite prof by far!
he is the best professor for chemistry
A very good teacher who seems to care about the outcomes of his students understanding of the subject. And generally likes teaching. Two thumbs up.
Just one word " GENIOUS PROFESSOR "
He's one of my favourite teachers. He makes learning really fun because he's funny and passionate about what we're learning. He uses slides and posts it to d2l. his midterm outline was clear and specific and exams were exactly what he asked for.
It's either me being fascinating about science ( excluding bio) or he's just overall a good teacher. Just remember to show up and DON'T SKIP. I had a very short lecture (50 mins/day) so every day counts. Never really asked him anything, but he seems to be helpful as I saw many other students came to him after class.
He was born to be a teacher. Everything he says during his lectures matters, so although he does not take attendance, it's valuable to be there. Fair marker.
Dr. Jones is a great prof! Do your part and you'll do well. If you failed the first midterm, it's your fault. Just study whatever he writes on the board and you're good.
Nathan is one of the best prof in Langara and I highly recommend taking a class with him. He has a great sense of humour and his tests are really fair. Pay close attention to his lectures and you'll do just fine in his class. He try his best to maximize your success. 10/10 would take a course that he teaches again.
Nathan good. He tries to give us examples but it's either a hit or miss (for me at least). If you want to do well in his class, write good notes in his lectures because he gives you a list of all the things he could ask on his test. Tests quizzes are relatively easy. P.S. you should clap for him when says "It's a great day for chemistry."
Nathan is one of the BEST professors I have ever had. I don't understand how he manages to explain such complicated material in such an easy way. His lectures are funny and mind-blowing, but be also prepared to study. He has a very clear study guideline, so there are no surprises on exams.
Best Professor I ever got and every day was great to study chemistry in his class.
Nathan knows a lot of stuff about a lot of things. He gives amazing examples and also tells most of the things he'll cover on his exams or assignments. I did chem1120 and scie1114 with him. He's knowledgeable and up to date with science and technology. Very engaging.
Helpful understanding friendly excellent teacher
He is THE BEST teacher.
Wakes you up for a great day for Science every time!
If you want to take Chem then it has to be with Nathan.
A very nice professor, Nathan is always patient and gives clear notes.
He explains complicated concepts in a very clear and concise matter. He's very caring and respectful. He remembered almost everyone's name, and would politely ask how their day was during lab hours which I found very comforting and welcoming. His tests are based on class notes so make sure you have good notes. Great professor, keep it up, Nathan!
My favorite professor
Gives a list of stuff you need to know for the quizzes/midterms which is very helpful, just study off those things and you'll be fine. Funny in lectures and during labs when he walks around and ask how things are. He simplifies difficult concepts by giving everyday analogies. Will take his class again
Nathan is the best in term of teaching. He makes every day is a great day for chemistry. He likes to make jokes when he teaches. You won't be bored taking his lecture. Come to class, take all his notes, and you'll be fine. He's a bit hard to be accessed outside class ,though, so ask as much question as you can in class. Highly recommended!
Natahan is probably one of the best professors in his department. He makes class fun and talks about engages his students. He gives good feedback and tells you clearly what hes looking for so you can achieve the best grade possible. Awesome guy!
Nathan's classes are remarkable, I think I will remember him as one of the best professors I ever had in my life. He made me love science more than I already do. He's helpful, fun, and approachable. you're missing a lot if you skip his classes, there's always something new to learn. He taught me how to write scientific essays.
Nathan Jones is a great prof. His lectures are intriguing and he introduces topics that are interesting. I had a wonderful experience not only because of the good grade I achieved but the way he did his lectures.
I believe Nathans Johns is the best instructor for both Chemistry(1120)and Science Literary(1114). He is knowledgeable and passionate about what he is teaching. I enjoyed his class in Science Literary so much, and I learned what science really is. Go for his class if you can!
The best chemistry teacher I had in years. SUPER clear lectures. You know exactly what you are expected to know on the test. Lectures are a little bit heavy so you better not miss it, but he makes chemistry understandable and not a nightmare.
Nathan is a good prof to start your path to Chemistry. I wouldn't say his class is super clear and easy to understand, but that was not his faults since university-level classes are always harder than secondary-level courses. He's super friendly, talkative, and caring. He would let you what to study for his quizzes and exams which is great.
Very organized and intuitive teaching style makes Nathan an excellent professor. Worth taking his classes. You can achieve easy A's just by listening to his lectures and a doing a bit of reading on it. He also lets you know what topics to know about the upcoming quizzes and midterms, he also gives ton of external resources to make it easy for you
Truly inspiring and wildly complex, I mean no disrespect but he's definitely above teaching at Langara. His SCIE 1114 course; interesting topics, meaningful conversations, knowledgable in many different subjects, and challenging work (the good kind). You'll get a good mark if you show up to class and engaging in conversations. Highly recommended
He enjoys being a professor and gets what it takes to be an excellent one.
Nathan is very passionate about science, which is an important characteristic to have because he inflicts his passion onto his students and also lectures are so much better and interesting with an instructor who genuinely cares about the topic. He is probably one of the best professors I've had. I highly recommend taking his classes!
He never assigns us questions to practice from the textbook as that can help to better understand the material he is teaching. His questions in the exam are unexpected and difficult to understand
This guys first time teaching chem 1220. His notes are trash, almost everybody in both sections are confused. The biggest mistaking taking his class as I shouldve known his ratemyprof rating is so high from teaching those easy classes. Hope he scales this midterm as it was very hard.
He doesnt have office hour, and it is really hard to make an appointment because he puts all his lectures on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. He cant explain thing well in class. Exam is easy, but I totally feel like I was studying by myself. Very awful
HE is super irresponsible to his students. Every day he is busy because he is quite lazy.
Honestly, his explanation for the lectures is good. His quizzes are easy but his midterms some times are difficult to understand. The way he designs the tests make difficult for students to get good mark since if you make a small mistake, you will lose mark for all other parts of the question. Many students find confused and difficult in his tests.
Nathan is charismatic and brings energy to all his lectures but I simply couldn't understand anything he taught. I find it difficult to understand what hes teaching cause hes dives straight into the material without introducing it. His quizzes and midterm are fair and he is a very generous marker. Despite this you can still achieve a good mark.
Nathan is charismatic and overall a nice guy, however, his teaching is confusing and his notes are pretty bad. Granted, this is his first time teaching this course so he's just starting to get a feel of things, but as right of now, I don't recommend you taking this course with this prof.
This was his first time teaching 1220 so he was also learning what to teach/focus on. He really cares about students doing well, but that doesn't mean he makes his tests easy. If you are naturally good at chem, you'll be fine. But if you aren't you will need to get help/watch videos on the things he discusses. He sometimes over complicates things.
Despite all of the reviews about Nathan teaching chem 1220, I have to say that he was learning himself as well as we went along. Because of this, he knows and is aware that we have problems understanding concepts and tries his absolute best to explain to us. He really cares about his students and is a generous marker which makes up for everything.
Nathan is overall the nicest prof I've ever met, however I don't recommend anyone to take his chemistry 1220 class, his notes are confusing, explains poorly but its also his first time teaching this class. I've found myself watching khan academy most of the time teaching myself, midterms are hard and final was brutal, take 1120 but NOT 1220.
Nathan is an excellent proof. He has a great way of explaining ideas and concepts. The course itself it pretty tough and would require a lot of outside sources and readings.
1120: theory is his strength. 1220: calculations-struggled to explain clearly. Need a lot of your own study time. Lacks office hours. Exams either too easy/hard. IMHO, too much of a lenient marker, not feeling prepared for next level of Chem. Genuine good person, cares deeply about his students, responsive to feedback, knowledgeable, very charming.
Good prof, exams are hard af. Such a caring person
Exam is too easy that you dont even need to know whats going on in the class since nobody understand what is he teaching
Using rate my professors for the first time only to let every one know that Nathan Jones is the ultimate professor at Langara college for any course you take with him.
He is the best prof i ever had. He is very understanding and nice prof. He is funny and approachable. He gives good grades and of course he is very charming.
Awesome Teacher for SCIE 1114
Very passionate about what he teaches. Is a genuinely great guy, and definitely worth having him as a prof for a discussion heavy class like SCIE1114
I wish I could add a couple more tags but the maximum is 3, He has amazing lectures, he gives amazing feedbacks, he is very respectful, participation matters at some extent, he's extremely hilarious. He does care about his students, and much more. My opinion? He's amazing! one of the best professors i've had here at Langara. Thanks Nathan :)
Hands down Nathan is the best professor in Langara. He is super caring and is the definition of a teacher who really wants to see you succeed. He is passionate in what he teaches and that is pretty rare to find in teachers these days. Thank you for an amazing semester!!
Amazing Professor
It's always a great day for chemistry! He literally sends you a detailed list of what is on his quizzes and exams, which makes studying for them very easy. He even gives you a mark for circling how difficult you thought it was, and if he gave enough time for it!! He adjusts test difficulty based on that feedback, and really cares about students.
AHHH he's so great I can't even begin to tell you!! He's an easy going guy that's super casual and cares about every student, and if they're struggling with the difficulty or not. Please take him if you have the opportunity!! You will not regret it :)
Great teacher. Teaching strategy doesn't match how I learn best. Very lecture heavy. Not a lot of in class problems. Problems come from textbook you need access to. I would prefer at least a worksheet provided on D2L. Very enthusiastic teacher, very passionate about what he talks about, reviews lecture, gives summaries, explains material well. :)
Nathan is very willing to help you during class breaks and outside class time. His lectures can be a little slow as he repeats important concepts, but it is great for people who take a while to comprehend material. His exams were a little difficult due to time constraints, but he takes that into consideration before writing the next exam.
I wish Nathan would give us more practice sheet.
I hd class with him three yrs ago and he is still one of my favourite profs He explains the concepts very well and he is very fair in making the exams Show up to the class and take notes All the exams are from what exactly he has talked about in the class. I did use the textbook sometimes to understand some concepts better It definitely helped me
Goods: 1. Super detailed lists of things to know for quiz/mt/final 2. Studying your note (& the reading materials) will give you decent grade 3. Lecture is easy to follow 4. Easy to approach 5. Printed answer sheets for quizs & mt Bads: 1. Very few practice questions 2. Late announcements 3. Sometimes he is not so organized
While the course material was rather dull, Nathan is incredibly funny, passionate, and makes the class so much better than it otherwise would have been. His enthusiasm is inspiring to watch and fired me up more than I thought I would be. He has a catchphrase that initially was annoying but has since grown on me. Its a great day for science!
One of the nicest professors of Langara and actually cares about you and your grades. Never really liked research and all but this course was pretty good
Nathan really a lot cares about his students and always ready to help. Sometimes he repeats the concepts which is really helpful if you don't understand first time. Great professor.
One of the best chemistry instructors I ever had. The best thing is you don't need to take any stress if Nathan is your instructor. He cares a lot for his students and is always there to help them. I am glad that I took him as my instructor and I wish I could take more courses with him.
Nathan is such a great prof! For every quiz and exam, he gave a super detailed checklist of what he was going to test us on. He is really passionate about his lectures and always went really in-depth with the content, giving lots of examples to help us understand. He is super friendly and approachable and I would absolutely recommend him!
Best prof out there
Nathan is a fantastic prof with very interesting lectures. He is also very knowledgeable and nice guy thats easy to get along with. Its a great day for science!
An energetic and helpful teacher. He is super nice, he gives generous partial marks for quizzes and tests. He tests on what he gave in the material lists. Will take him again if I have a chance.
"Hello Science 1114, today is a great day for science!" -Nathan Jones Out of all my classes I've taken at Langara, this has been by far my favorite course. One of the least stressful classes as the course load is very low and Nathan helps at every step and allows for second chances. He also keeps his promises of pizza party on the last day.
Excellent! Nathan Jones is an amazing prof. He is approachable, funny and his lectures are interesting. Got him for 2 classes and found that he is a generous marker as well :))
He is very nice. When I took CHEM 2208 with Nathon, he gave extra readings and his notes are quite in detail. As for midterms and final, he would give exam outlines, just review his notes and the readings; even a few questions of exams are exactly from his notes.
It was my first semester at langara and Nathan Jones made it feel like a highschool class. He's a great teacher, really funny and very helpful. He was very interactive with the class and made each class interesting. It was one of the few classes i made friends in because Nathan had us work with almost every other student individually. 10/10 :)
Seriously, this is the BEST prof EVER. I am not KIDDING. Seriously. TRUST ME.
Such a nice professor! I love him so much, he is really kind, caring. He takes good care of everyone, the class is not easy, but as long as u work hard, do as he said, he will give you fair grades! All in all, I highly recommend him.
Nathan is a really good prof! Highly recommend!! If you work hard, you can get high grade in this course.
He is the best teacher I have ever met in my life. I took Co-ordination chem and Science literacy with this instructor and he was very nice in both of these subjects. I use to go in his office hours and he is always ready to help.
Nathan is one of the best! He is the kind of person that one aspires to be in the future. He is motivated in teaching and also cares about his students. Indeed, every day is a great day for science!
Very nice Prof. Clear about his teaching and thoughts and always guides you and support through the entire course. He is always happy to help you.
Honestly, if you are even in a slightest inch of doubt about him, dont be, he is genuinely the best prof out there. He really cares about you, on a personal level, he wants to help you grow as a person and as a student. He is a gem of a person. Couldnt ask more of a teacher. If i had to choose a chem/Sci teacher, i would pick him in a heartbeat.
Nathan is an amazing professor! He really cares about his students and provides very useful feedback on the students work. If you want to improve your writing skills on the topics of science, then Nathan is my best recommendation.
Nathan is absolutely fantastic!
Best professor ever. He cares a lot for his student and always encourage students on how to do good with their papers by giving constant feedback.
Best instructor to start your path in chemistry. He is always respectful. He gives out learning outcomes and clear instruction for quizzes and exams. Best chemistry instructor I have ever taken.
Nathan is one of the best professors for Chemistry as Langara. He knows what he is teaching and has deep knowledge and understanding of the content. Want to have good grades as well as develop a deep interest in Chemistry? He is the one!! He always cares about the well being of his students while maintaining the teacher-student relationship.
He is by far the best Chem prof I have ever had. He makes his lectures super fun with an added touch of his SIRI(his virtual assistant). His feedbacks and responses will surely help a lot. Had a lot of fun during his lectures. And As he always says " it is a great day for Chemistry".
Incredible prof. Inspirational and respectful, it's clear he cares about his work and wants students to succeed. Is always there outside of class if you need help. As long as you are respectful and put in effort, you will do well in his class.
Take his class! Never in any lecture did he go over a concept once and then the next time you see it was on a midterm. Nathan always makes sure to refer back to the fundamental basics of the concepts being taught. He's a fair marker that ensures that you understand what will be on his tests (no surprise questions). It's a great day for science!!!
Nathan is awesome, he's super understanding and he wants his students to succeed. He makes sure that everyone is on the same page and is willing to help if you don't understand something. I would love to take another class with him if I have the chance to. You won't regret taking his class!
I'm really sorry to give a low rating this teacher is one of the most caring I ever met and we all love him but there was very few practice, no homework and we were extremely stressed, felt like we had no chance to make mistakes to learn from and clear up misunderstandings. First time I ever taken a class where practice was very hard to access.
Nathan is one of the most inspirational and kind professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed more than anything. He cares about the learning and understanding of the material more than getting through as much as he possibly can. I felt inspired to learn. Thank you Nathan!
Nathan is a brilliant, caring, funny, fantastic professor and has gone above and beyond during the transition to online forced upon us by Covid-19. Sure more practice problems would be nice but, he is always available to clear up misunderstandings and explain things in a different way for you. Anyone giving him a low rating is likely a lazy student
Cares about students a lot!!!!! and makes the day better with chemistry :) Whenever I struggled office hours were always accessible and he's very supportive just would want more worksheets like others say
Nathan's concise and passionate style of teaching chemistry makes learning chemistry intriguing and fun. He generally creates a clear list of what he expects students to know for mid-terms and quizes to guide you to success.
Nathan is a good instructor. However, his lecture slides do not seem to be complete. He provides a list of topics that will be assessed on the quizzes, and midterms, but he does not provide practice questions. He also did not assign a textbook, which would have been helpful since I found this lecture slides to be incomplete.
Nathan is great instructor, he has a very good teaching method for this course, a brief through scientific literacy, although the course is not hard but it needs a lot of writing , if you do your part , I'm sure you would get a good mark in it. Nathan's lectures are fun and interesting and you wont be bored at all
Nathan Jones is really a very nice professor! He is caring about everyone and he often gives good feedback and willing to explain. He is tender and kind. I really like him and I would like to take his courses again!
Nathan teaches in a clear manner. I've never had a prof that was so respectful of his student. He is prepared for every lecture and gives a short summary at the end of each class. When students ask dumb dumb questions he somehow manages to turn it around and answer with quality content with out embarrassing anyone.
He is an amazing teacher. Great communicator, great energy and is really smart. The course was difficult, but he does an amazing job trying to give context. He describes things in a deep manner because he obviously thinks in a deep manner. Looks for feedback constantly, very professional and enjoyable.
Clear objectives, nice/caring, very knowledgeable, enjoys what he does, does his best to keep lecture fun. Definitely recommend. It's a great day for chemistry!
Nathan is a great instructor, during online lecture he will go over the theory first making sure you understand the concepts before moving onto the calculations. He is very accessible through his office hours and readily replies to emails. Though the course material was difficult, Nathan teaches everything you need to know in depth. Amazing teacher
Engineering Chemistry Admitted it's his first time teaching this course (which is positive!) and somehow made one of my most dreaded classes one of my favorite. The material isn't hard but also isn't easy and he likes to teach theoretically, there aren't too many worked examples. A generous marker and overall just a top tier instructor.
Nathan is one of the best instructors I've ever had. He is passionate about the material and very fair. He genuinely cares about student success and actively takes feedback to improve the course. Langara should consider themselves lucky to have him, and it makes me sad that I won't have him next semester.
Nathan was an absolute beauty of a teacher. Real good guy with a solid passion for what he teaches. As long as you study a fair amount you should do well in his course, he doesn't throw any curve balls or dumb stuff like that. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone who has the option to take his class, to do so.
Nathan is a great teacher. I wish I had instructors like him for other courses. He clearly explains all concepts; if you're not good at chem, he makes sure that you will. It's his first time teaching this course, he showed care, asked students how they felt after each quiz, midterm. The course isn't hard, but you should study notes and do problems.
Nathan is a fantastic instructor. He really cares about his students and goes out of his way to make sure everybody understands the material. Very receptive to questions, good sense of humour, and just a very friendly guy. 1154 was my favourite class of the year, and my best grade. Thanks, Nathan!
Nathan is a very thorough and understanding professor. His SCIE 1114 class was a pleasure, and he provided lots of great material to learn from. Since this was an online class, he managed to keep me engaged by constantly hosting in class participation activities in breakout rooms. I can highly recommend him! Great job Nathan!
He is good at teaching and very generous in terms of difficulty. All of the quizzes and midterms he gives are fair with enough time. Would recommend!
He is a great choice for this course. It will definitely not be a stressful semester. Apart from his thorough teaching with great and precise word choices, the only thing you need to worry about is practice questions. He will not provide you with any useful questions that reflect the quizzes. Make sure to do and redo all assigned questions.
Thoroughly enjoyed this class, this course is completely based on lectures and writing but Nathan does a good job at specifying exactly what he expects and provides good writing guides, so following these and making changes according to his feedback helps in doing well on essays. This course was definitely very unique and fun! Thanks Nathan:)
If youll have the chance to take a course from Nathan, just do! u wont regret it
Nathan has amazing lectures that make you actually want to learn about the chemistry and his lectures are often applicable to the universe as a whole. He has great Dad jokes but most of all he's just a very understanding guy who genuinely wants the best for you. One of my favourite profs I've ever had.
Nathan is a great prof. His lectures were always interesting and his charismatic attitude was always greatly appreciated.
Professor Jones is amazing. His course was extremely paper heavy (at least the year that I participated), but after making my transfer to UBC, I really saw how much his class taught me. He makes everything extremely clear, making many concepts in his class easy to grasp. Writing research papers after his class has proven to be a lot simpler!
