He often shows up to lecture late and which shows just how important this class is to him. He asked us “What can I do to make this class better” we said simple and clear examples, he didn’t like that idea. One day he spent 10 minutes writing a recipe for pancakes on the board. Perhaps the worst teacher I’ve ever had and I’M GETTING AN A!!!
he is a very good teacher if you are willing to put in the work. He explains things very well in steps. If you listen, do your homework and go to him for help when you don't understand something you will get an A.
Great guy, really helpful. Definitely has the best interests of his students in mind. Makes physics applicable to every day life.
This was his first year teaching. He did an exellent job and put a lot of time into preparing unique and very helpful demonstrations, examples, and challenges for us. He is willing to help as much as possible and is very friendly. He'll be an even better teacher next year and the years after. I would take more classes from him for sure.
He is a gr8 teacher!! His classes are really interesting and enterntaining, a lot of useful information. BUT once you get to the test, it's something really far away from the homework problems. Tests are really hard. Good luck!!!
nice guy, challenging course, real-world application, and difficult tests. He puts a lot of effort into lectures and helping students.
I made a voodoo doll of this jerk and fill it full of pins every night!!! He is the hardest frickin professor I've ever had. Although constantly disheveled and sloppily dressed, (how may days in a row has he worn those jeans?), I do find him strangely attractive.
Who can take tomorrow, Dip it in a dream? Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream, Prof Moore, Prof Moore can
Professor Moore is a great teacher. He is very willing to help when you have questions.
good teacher, looks like Anthony Fedorov, the guy that got kicked off american idol a season ago.
avoid at all costs
I really enjoyed the class, despite its level of difficulty. I guess I cant really recommend taking his classes unless you like a challenge though... its tough, but i think it was worth it...
Nathan Moore is very helpful. He is in his office very often and even uses AIM to make himself more accessible. His tests are difficult, but he gives helpful homework. He currently shares his office with some crazy theoretical geo-physicist with purple hair.. and you will likely come out of their office smelling like a foreign restaraunt.
good prof, knows what it's like to be in college because he's still working on his PhD (I think), of course college level physics isn't going to be really easy, I thought it was an appropriate difficulty, really interesting guy, good personality
Dr. Moore might have a PhD in his knowledge of physics but he fails in every aspect of teaching it.
Amazingly Hard, Doesn't understand that we're not physics majors!
I'm glad the semester is almost over. Hard professor, interesting class projects, I like looking at his shirts.
good guy. Needs more fire extinguishers. Very entertaining and friendly
He enjoys doing in-class examples about real-world problems, but he usually gets confused because he doesn't do them before class. But if you stop by his office after class, he'll have it figured out. The class is tough and you must study, but if you do that and ask questions when you're not clear, you should be just fine. He's very friendly.
Never take him, ever. He seems to know what he's talking about, but when you ask him questions he dodges around them and tries to get you to figure it out yourself. His tests are next to impossible, he doesn't put any problems on the tests that are even remotely similar to the problems done in class. I was lucky to have passed his class.
Wow pretty much impossible class unless you're already majored in physics, math, nuclear science, and your a full time electrician for like GE Research or something! Avoid! Nice guy, but forgot one thing, teaching school. He thinks you already know everything and he's just reminding you.
I often enjoy a difficult class; however, this class rips a new hole in the metiphorical posterior that represents difficulty. The labs and homework would be great if he taught and the tests are literally impossible to study for. Although he is a cool guy i recommend avoiding at all costs.. I know for a fact that 85% of the class shares my opinion.
He's is very helpful to students. However, not all of the students want to spend all their time studying this course because it is not their major. A little too math concept oriented.
If you don't have to take him, DON'T. He'll start on a problem and then move on to another one without finishing the first. Makes you do computer programming problems, that will take you at least 5 hours a piece. Don't bother studing you'll do bad no matter what. Tests don't always cover what he says they will.
I thought he was a horrible teacher. he didn't do any teaching. He just handed the class assignments said solve these problems. over half the students in his class were retaking the course.
Terrible! I've never hated a class as much as this. He is all over the place. Starts problems and doesn't finish and the problems he does finish aren't understandable. VERY CONFUSING. HIGHLY! recommend NOT taking him!
Absolutely terrible classroom teacher, but one on one he is great. Read the book or else you will end up retaking this courese. When he teaches infront of the class it seems like all he is doing is showing off his smarts but not showing us where he came up with what he used to solve the problem.
If I was a depressed person, don't take this class cause your life is only going to get worse. Buy a physics book and stay at home and teach your self and then show up and take his tests.
Super great. Best there is in the field.
He is a completely worthless teacher. Has a teaching method that no one can understand and it is not helpful at all. I would recommend trying to find a different professor for this course
What a tool, this guy's class is like a hot pocket, burns going in and sure enough burns going out. After studying 13 hours for the final, not a thing I studied was on it: class success was only 3%. I hope a meteroite hits his house... ah too bad so sad.
this is a great professor if you have no base in physics then dont take it. take it if you are interested to think rather than learn.homework is the base then you are sure to get an A or a B ..good luck
He expects you to know everything up front. You pretty much teach yourself so make sure you get the book and read it because if you ask him a question he will answer it with a question. This leaves you with two unanswered questions and alot of frustration. DO NOT take a class with this man.
You will have a hard time getting direct answers rather than questions, but that's what your book is for! Extremely helpful during office hours. Oh no, a professor that makes you think about something and come up with your own explanations in your own words! Never had to study more than 15 minutes for his exams or quizzes.
Expects all students to have the same knowledge as he holds. Forget learning anything useful. Will explain a question for the whole class just to make it seem harder then it is and is easily sidetracked. Had to take him for several courses and all left me feeling less intelligent then the start of class. Avoid if possible.
Nathan makes physics one of the most boring classes ive taken in college.... He talks about his chickens and bees, and other crap that has nothing to do with physics... tests are pretty easy and they are not nearly as hard as the suggested homework in the book... not a hard class but i dont think i walked away with much knowledge of physics....
This guy is a joke. The class makes no sense what-so-ever. The lectures have nothing to do with the homework, with nothing to do with the lab. No correlation. He says, "I'm here for you" yeah right. He answers everyone of your questions with another. Expects you to be a genious. Waste of my time. I'm not learning anything. DONT TAKE!!!
He's a smart guy, but doesn't know how to teach on a lower level of understanding. His tests are painful, and if he thinks you should be doing better than you are, he will pick on you and try to push you by nitpicking everything about your work. Avoid him unless you are already well versed in physics. But then you shouldn't need this class...
Well, Professor Moore is a really funny guy, in my opinion... That is about it though. He does not teach well, or at least for me. All he does in class is derive equations. Which would be helpful if he used those equations in good examples, which he does not. So.. I do not like this professor at all. Nice guy, bad teacher.
All of lecture is spent deriving equations, makes no sense and isn't helpful for tests at all. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he'll randomly give hw assign. due at the end of class. Willing to help with questions, but is very vague and it still won't make sense. If you wanna do well read the book and do well on hw/lab. GREAT GUY, TERRIBLE TEACHER.
Great professor!!! although you get lost alot during class because of the hard problems he tries to solve. Tests may seem hard when you take it but he curves like NO OTHER and gives tons of partial credit. Overall a very nice guy and a great professor
I can tell Dr. Moore wants you to do well but he makes things much, much more complicated than they need to be. I feel lost 90% of the time in his class. Avoid him if possible.
I was able to pull out a B in 221 while learning absolutely nothing, but in 222 I'll be lucky to get a C. Moore acts like he cares about you, but really makes physics way harder than it needs to be. AVOID HIM IF POSSIBLE. especially if you didn't take physics in high school or don't have any background in phys/calc.
Dr. Moore is nice and approachable. He will tell straight up if your wrong (he is not doing it to be mean). He emphasizes more conceptual understanding. I did get a very high A, but you have to study hard! Study the packets and take time to think through the lab assignments. Overall as I look back his class was very helpful! Taken Summer 2012.
I found Moore to be very pretentious. He teaches in a way that is overly complicated, especially for a class that a lot of freshmen take. I struggled greatly in this class, and I would recommend avoiding him if possible.
This class was tough. Dr. Moore's teaching style is different than most for this course and it was hard. Pretty much makes you learn how to do it on your own. But if you take the class early in the morning, he makes coffee every day, so that was nice.
Prof. Moore is a very nice person and loves the subject he teaches. Unfortunately he is a very poor teacher and doesnt know how to give straight forward answers or explanations. He teaches using proofs that use calc 2 & 3 even though calc 1 was only required. You never know whats gonna be on the tests or how they will be asked. Avoid him if you can
Professor is AWESOME! Great guy too. Lectures almost always followed youtube videos from the channel of Lasseviren1. Homework helped make electrostatics laws clear, and labs went hand in hand with the class. A+ class and professor.
Teacher is brilliant, but a terrible teacher. Too smart to be teaching this level physics. The final ends up being a standardized test and nothing like any of his other tests. Avoid This teacher at all costs. You CAN get an A but prepare to lose your mind and any free time you ever had before. Just dont take Moore. Please.
He's an awesome professor! He understands when you miss class and is very helpful getting you caught back up. He does tend to ramble in class and not get to the answers but he works with everyone to help get to the right place!
He loves to leave you hanging on what the answers are to questions. Field experience IS REQUIRED for this class and it was the most fun thing of the class. The test are hard but it's open note. He loves to send readings out and then have a reading quiz on them. Overall, he was VERY unclear and I left the class frustrated by the end of the semester.
H e cares about his students, but is way to smart for this class. You never know if you are right or wrong and he expects you to know a lot about physics. After two hours in class, you leave very confused and frustrated.
He is an interesting fella but he is not very helpful... his help is more of a hindrance and i think he has less of a clue on the homework than he assigns than i do. He wastes obscene amounts of time on stuff that does not even matter to the course. I'm not even sure what this classes is supposed to be about some time, his jibber jabber is plenty.
sometimes goes on tangents, but he's awesome!! Always willing to help outside of class and with office hours. He is a very smart professor and has a lot to tell teach you.
Everyday it was something different and confusing. It didn't really pertain to class. For the first month all we talked about was energy and heat. He assumes a lot and its hard to follow along. I would not take again...
Moore is a very nice guy. Although he is sometimes hard to follow because he knows much more about the subject than we do. Really cares that students learn from his class. Overall great professor. It would be nice if we had more in class activities that related to the book.
SUPER EASY. You will get an A and you dont even need to show up to class. Classes are easy and so are the tests. You get a full sheet of notes on the test and he pulls straight from the book. You also get to correct all your exams for up to 20pts, they're only worth 40-60pts.
Professor Moore has to be one of the worst professors I have had here. I had him specifically for physics lab. He never outright answered anything and was the king of answering a question with a question. I never learned a single thing from him. He is cocky and refuses to think he is wrong.
Incredibly smart professor, he really knows what he is talking about. Students that are lazy will not like his class, he really makes you work for your answer, but you will throughly understand it in the end! Awesome guy, incredible teacher!
Really funny guy, who really know a lot about physics.
Really thoughtful teacher. Seems like he is always checking his email, always ready to help!
Moore is a good person, he just do not know how to teach. However if you try in your exam, you will pass it, just do not have any hope you can get an A. Go to the classes finish your homework and lab report, it means you have a C, if you took phy in your high school before, you might get a B.
Nathan Moore is the best professor I've ever had. He is extremely caring, funny, and really a great guy. He spends the class teaching you how to problem solve and how to learn on your own, he doesn't feed you answers, he really makes you think. Some people may hate this, but its a great skill to have, especially for education majors, take him.
Dr. Moore teaches inquiry. He believes students grow more in the journey to finding the answer. If you are a student who just wants to be given the answer, you will not enjoy his class at all. He is a really nice guy!
Moore is a great guy and very funny to be around in general but he is very lacking as a teacher. I understand the importance of teaching yourself but some people are incapable - especially with higher level physics. Moore is one of my least favorite professors because of this. I've put in a lot of time with little output due to his teaching style.
Dr. Moore has been a great professor for every class I've taken with him. His classes explore realistic situations in the context of the course curriculum. These are classes suited to developing problem solving techniques for dedicated physics and science students. He takes the time for his students, take the time for his classes, it's worth it.
He is really sweet and caring. He pays attention to students and is willing to help as long as you are willing to learn. He is a genius and one of my favorite professors!
He is really sweet and caring. He shows concern for students and willing to help them on homework or understanding the concepts in general. However, his teaching is unorganized, not clear, and assigns a lot of homework. I struggled a lot in the class even when I visited him during his office hours. I would not recommend him for taking physics 221.
Nathan Moore was a nice professor but this class was unreasonably hard for a 100 level course. Every class period was always scattered and all over the place and I never knew what we were really learning about. You also never know what your grade is in the class because he does not use D2L.
I took this class during Fall semester 2020 so most classes were online due to the pandemic. I was never a fan of physics, but he was always clear and understanding during his lectures and always willing to help outside of class. Really nice guy, boring class to take online.
Had him for an asynchronous summer class. His materials are disorganized with lots of spelling errors/incorrect equations. Test questions are wordy with the important parts hidden among unnecessary background info. He is lenient with grading and deadlines, so passing is not impossible, but actually learning/understanding is another matter.
Nathan is an all-around awesome guy. He is extremely smart and very compassionate. Classwork is moderate, and easy to work through if you're not afraid to ask for help. He has interesting teaching methods that won't be for everyone but worked for me. If you pay attention in class you will 100% do well in his course.
Nathan is an awesome professor. He made the class very interesting as we used experiments to demonstrate things verses all reading. Go to class, as you will be confused if you don't. He is very personable. If you participate and pay attention this will be a very easy class.
Nathan was a great professor to have for PHYS 180, he didn't make attendance mandatory and was very understanding about assignments being turned in late when needed. The class consisted of projects that you work with your table group on and he sometimes did in class assignments we had to submit a picture of but not too often, overall a great class.
Nathan was a great professor to have for PHYS 180, he didn't make attendance mandatory and was very understanding about assignments being turned in late when needed. I have always been terrible at taking any STEM class, but I recommend this class to knock out a gen. ed. requirement. My easiest class this semester. He recommends to get textbook but I didn't and was fine. No cumulative final just 4 easy projects throughout the semester and sometimes quizzes in class but we work through them all together. EASY A
Super chill awesome guy and a very easy to succeed class. he grades nicely and all the work isnt difficult just takes some thought to do. I learned the most interesting things in this class and overall 10/10
Super easy assignments there is quite a few tho, don't buy the text book just regular book.
Really easy class to knock out a gen ed credit and a very caring professor. Quite a few times, the class was canceled or let out early, which was nice. Very nice guy and attendance was not mandatory. You can easily get an A if you do the assignments and all 4 projects. Also, he recommended textbooks, but I did not need them.
I've never taken such an easy and understandable physics class before this one. All of the assignments were manageable, a little time-consuming, and he always provided good feedback.
I took this class over winter break and it went well. I recommend it! He shows you all you need to know for the quizzes that you can take multiple times. He seems like a really nice guy and he responds to emails in a good amount of time!
If you participate and show up, you will do well in this class. He is fun and personable. I felt that he made an effort to form strong connections with his students. I wish there were more constructive feedback rather than most things being graded on completion. Overall amazing teacher.
I love Dr. Moore! I took PHYS 201 over the 2025 summer and received a B. He is very passionate and wants you to understand physics. He is very chill and kind. This class is a hard class and will take up a lot of your time, but it is so worth it! This class has worksheets, lectures, online labs, homework, exams, and an occasional homework quiz.
Genuinely one of the best professors I have ever had, he is super kind and caring his class is extremely easy most of everything in this course was graded on completion and overall Dr.Moore just wants his students to do well. He makes an effort to connect with his students and it really helps make the classroom feel better. Dr.Moore is the best!!
Nathan is a very caring guy who you can tell loves his job as a professor. Physics is a very hard subject that can drive the smartest insane lol so with all of the assignments // homework helps your grade a ton. Exams are curved which really helped my end grade! recommend him if you have to take physics.
