Shes goes on and on and on, she goes overtime in class notes, but inclass tests are just under allowed time, if your essays arnt arranged perfect, you lose a lot, hard marker, and shes does a poetry unit istead of letting us read a novel!?Shes crazy!

She's definitly got to be one of the nicest english profs. She does grade quite hard but she truely does care about her students, and wants them all to pass. My advice is take her course, assuming that you are fairly decent at english.
Very nice, but maybe not all that bright. Master of grammer and spelling, but doesn't give much feedback on actual quality of work. But if you can make your work interesting you can definitly get an A.

Bobby is a decent prof. Be warned that she marks extremely hard, but at the same time she really does want you to do well. She will proofread your out-of-classes for you, but don't get discouraged if your first mark is a 60!
You can take her or leave her, depending on the type of prof you like. I didn't particularly like the course, but she was an alright teacher. A hard marker tho.

she's a sweetheart! honestly, she really wants to see you succeed, and she'll take the time to grade your out of class assignments before hand so you can edit them before handing it in. she's really encouraging, too.
She is a hard marker, and fairly critical. Expects a lot of students, and maybe a lot more than most first-years would think. If you're not really big on the thorough analysis of poetry (and I do mean THOROUGH), transfer out while you can! Didn't really like her all that much.
She is an excellent prof. For a first year student I am glad that I had her. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She is a hard marker but if you put the time in it isn't that hard.
She was such a wonderful Prof, if you like a challenge! She was so helpful, and gave me the benefit of the doubt more than once. Overall I say she was a fair Prof. If You like a challenge or a little extra help, she's the one to get!
She is a great prof, fair but a hard marker, loves her job and makes it more interesting, her knowledge of the authors and poet's is vast making it more interesting.

Love her as a person, but somewhat hard to follow as a professor ... it isn't the accent, either. She's scattered and not adverse to COMPLETELY re-arranging a course without warning.
I liked her, she might be the best prof I've had at Mun. The marking is stiff however, but it is fair. Dispite hearing may stupid comments and wrong answers from students, she never made on of them feel bad. To me, that is the sign of a good prof. Take her course if you get a chance.
Prof. Bobby is extremely sweet and enthusiastic, but her teaching methods leave much to be desired. She is very unclear on requirements for papers and when they are due. In class, rather than simply lecturing, she will question the students, growing exasperated when they don't know the answers.
Professor Bobby is very help full and a pleasure to have teach you! I had her my second time doing 1080 and she was way better then my previous prof! She is well organized. Her work load is reasonable! She goes over each and every story and poem til you fully understand the material!

Nava Bobby almost convinced me I might not make it as an English major. Funny, because her course was the only one I've gotten below a 75 in since attending MUN. She is extremely vague about student requirements. She expects way too much from full-time students.
Nava expects way to much of her students, hardest marker i've ever had!Goes over stories thoroughly but rambles and jumps all over the place.On top of being hard to follow she also has an accent that i can't understand!She offers lots of extra help but it definitely doesn't make up for her extremly hard marking.I learned nothing from this class

Nava's very enthusiatic and loves her job-- a bonus for a prof! Sure she's a hard marker, but it could be worse. I enjoyed going to her class and felt that she was personally concerned with her students' performance. My favourite prof so far!

Nava Bobby is a very dedicated. She knows the material like the back of her hand, and conveys it well to student. She is an extremely caring person, even down to her student's well-being. It definitely pays to put in the effort. It sure is not an easy A, but I haven't heard of many Eng profs at MUN who are.
Nava is a nice person - easy to talk to and understanding. She tried to make everything easier on us because there was so much writing. If you have problem talk to her. Sometimes her advice may not help but she has the best of intentions. Hard marker too!!!
I don't understand why people think she's such a tough marker. She's the easiest english marker I've ever had. Cares for her students but isn't the best at making the material clear.

I, personally, did not like her class. She wasn't clear or easy to understand, maybe due to her thick accent. She's a sweet woman who is dedicated to helping her students succeed though, so I give her props for that. but other than that, I dreaded her class and hardly went.
This woman is very sweet, but a terrible professor. I had her two years ago and received the only failing grade I've ever gotten on a paper in my life. My overall average in all my English courses taken thus far at MUN (and I'm in my 4th year) is an 85. She is a terrible teacher. Sweet lady, but she is terrible at communicating her expectations.
Bobby was great, she loves to teach and knows what she's talking about. She really cares about her students and is always there and happy to help. I would definitely recommend her!!!
To start, Nava Bobby is probably the best English teacher/Prof I've ever had. She truly cares, and the class discussions are always interesting because she is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. However, she is a hard marker. Take her if you're interested in learning. If you're just looking to bring up your average for the term, stay away.
Wow, this prof should get a 0.0 rating because she is worst kind. I wrote a few papers and compared stuff to Nazis in the paper and she gave me like 20s. I got a 32 on my final and when I got a reread done I came out with a 68% Never take this prof!!!!
Nava Bobby is probably the most interesting person I've met. I loved going to her class, I'd never miss it! I had heard that she was a really tough marker, but I found her to be very fair. She gives unlimited chances for rewriting papers so it is impossible to get a bad mark if you're willing to do the work. Highly recommended, she's awesome!! :-)
Nava Bobby is a really nice woman, who honestly cares for her students. She is straight forward and lets students know exactly what she wants. She is a hard marker but if you show her your a hard worker and go seek help during office hours she will really help you with your papers. I would recommend this prof to any first year students.
Nava is a fairly interesting prof but an extremely hard marker. However, she cares deeply for her students so if you are willing to work extremely hard and go to her for help and positive criticism outside of class, you should be able to pull a B out of her, maybe even an A.
This woman seriously made me contemplate changing my major. I don't understand how a woman who doesn't speak fluent English can coherently teach it as a discipline. Worse, she's totally unorganized. She came into class one day and completely revamped the cyllabus; none of us knew what journals were due on which days. Awful professor, awful course.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING prof! really cares for her students, and is willing to help you out any way she can! She will even take phone calls from home if you need help with your paper! Also, she is very flexible, and if you cannot go to her office during the hours she has listed, she will do all that she can to fit you in at some point during the day!
This woman really impressed me. She put her HOME phone number on the board in case students wanted help with their papers. I doubt I will ever meet another prof who is so dedicated to teaching and her students. I found her marking to be quite fair. She had a harder curriculum compared to other profs who gave reading tests(free marks)

amazing professor. highly recommended. Truly cares about her students and is available any tile all the time for help. she gives like 100 ways that you can get in contact with her for help. extremely understanding and helpful. Crystal clear. She challenges you but its not TOO big a challenge and you can pass her course with 80/90!! HIGHLY recommend
GREAT PROF. She really cares about her students and WANTS to help!!! She cares and wants you to learn. She has a little problem with English language but still manages to present all material.
She is a sweet woman but I think that there may be a language barrier. She is not fond of extremly creative ideas. She likes things that are safe and some feed back I received makes me think she missed the point when native english speakers understood. Very nice woman and did give me a better concept of foraml writing.
She is a good person, however there are soo many assignments. Very hard to keep up with all the papers. Plus she grades fairly hard. If you are looking to do english, she's probably a good choice. But if you're just in it to get the course probably not your bet option.

I did this course with her by distance. She is very well organized, and if you e-mail her for help, you will get an e- mail back the same day. She is involved and concerned for her students. I found her to be an excellent prof! She is very picky, but that is good for me, as I am planning on doing an English degree.
She pretty much taught me how to write at a university level, from scratch. Started out getting 50's and ended up with an A. Most development in a subject that I have ever had. It should be mandatory to take her course.
There is a fair bit of work, but Nava Bobby will teach you how to write at a high quality. Do not be discouraged by your first essay mark.
Do not go into this class if you have high expectations for your mark. Prof. Bobby is nice enough, but she is a very hard marker, and often doesn't justify why she docked marks if you ask. Sometimes she contradicts past statements, which can lead to confusion over assignments, but she is usually able to meet with you to discuss problems.
She is definitely not an easy marker, and tends to see things in a limited way; she has firm views, and is not always open to other peoples opinions and ideas if she did not think of them first. She is a good person, but not the best prof if you just need to get an English credit.
She is an awful teacher, and an extremely unfair marker. Even if you think you are a good student, and can handle a challenge, she is quite simply unreasonable about marking. At first I thought she was just being critical to push us further, but after meeting with her several times, I realized that she often docks marks without justifying why.
Nava Bobby is a fantastic English prof. She is always willing to help you if you are having trouble and really seems to care about all her students. You can write up an essay and she will have no problem looking over it and helping you fix it up.
If you are willing to put in the time and do the extra work prof bobby is there to help. Always avaiable if you need her and truly wants the best for her students. Miss Bobby is a terrible teacher, and an extremely unfair marker. She actually failed me on an assignment for the purpose of keeping me from getting over confident. When I asked her to explain what I had done wrong, to learn from it, she said that my work was A material, but didn't want me to think that I couldn't improve, so she gave 20%.
She is a nice enough person, but not a very good teacher. I don't recommend entering her class if you need a high mark in the course. If you put in the work, you should manage a pass, but DO NOT expect any higher marks -- she's a very tough marker. She is available to provide extra help on many occasions, but this time is often not used well.
Not the best prof you will ever have. She is a sweet lady, and is happy to accommodate students needs, but she does not appreciate creativity, and is a very tough grader. One tip for this course, if you don't have a lot of money, all the course material is available online for free, so don't prioritize this text book above other purchases.

Had her as my prof for 1080 by distance, though I was frequently at the campus and often stopped by her office to discuss the course material and my progress in the course. She is extremely willing to help and if you put the effort in, she will take you far. She was encouraging & approachable. Would definitely recommend if you are willing to learn.
She is friendly but overall not a great prof. She does not value creativity nor does she see things from any other point of view other than her own. I took this class because it was a prerequisite but it was a total waste of time.
Such a sweet and helpful lady! I was a English hating student until I had Prof. Bobby for English 1080. She is very helpful, very quick to respond to emails. She even read my essays for editing before the due date! By the end of the course I had decided to go on and do my electives in English. Enough good things can't be said about Prof Bobby!
Wouldnt recommend this prof. I did 1110 online and it seemed impossible to do well. Its nice you get a chance to revise your work, but I found it was harder to do well the second time. Shes eager to help but overall this course was very frustrating to complete.
Professor seems to care about students succeeding in this course and gives option to revise essays but seems impossible to do better on the revised essay, tough grader and expects a lot from a 1000 level course
I liked Nava Bobby as a prof for the first half of the course. However, what she expects is crazy. Weekly writings that in my opinion arent helpful, but instead very hard. If youre good at English, shes an excellent prof. However, if you struggle, I wouldnt recommend. But shes available to help a lot during office hours, which is helpful.
overly picky and gives vague notes that are not helpful. lets you revise your essays but the grades never change very much. she was often frustrating to deal with because her demands are ridiculously high and confusing for a 1000 level course. if you can avoid her then do it.
Gives a chance to revise essays. Feedback is vague. Very high standards. Tough grader. There were journal entries with full marks for participation, easy way to boost grade.
Has a serious issue with grammar and english herself and yet grades really hard. Has you write weekly, sometimes biweekly papers that don't help at all and that have really unclear guidelines, such as repeating questions or seemingly wrong order, etc. Overall, just too chaotic.
Seems to care a lot about students, but grades really tough and is unclear with instructions. The class is a guessing game most of the time. If you can avoid this prof, despite how sweet she is, do it.
Took Engl 1110 online with Professor Bobby. Workload was laid out well - 5 journal entries throughout the semester based on your research paper that was due at the end of the semester, two essay outlines and research paper outline, and two essays, with a 20% midterm and 20% final. Feedback was good, available for questions

After a 2nd email inquiry, she said "just submit it". She picks apart every word you write. She rewrote my thesis statement for me, then on my paper said it was too wordy. Doesn't like extra detail or wordiness, even when the detail is necessary for you to make a good argument. I went from getting 75+ on papers in other courses to 60s with her...
Nava Bobby is a fair-grading professor, with every essay she will make sure to provide you with clear expectations and offers her guidance if needed. It may be good to purchase the book for the best grade possible. I would take her again if I could.
worst English prof I have had at MUN yet. Professor Bobby is very unorganized and dose not provide information clearly on what she expects. I'm and English major at MUN and normally an A+ student but in this course it is difficult to comprehend what she expects you to do. Would not reccomend to anyone who is thinking of taking a course with her.
Extremely unorganized and unclear about guidelines for her assignments. Tells you to refer to MLA guidelines however she still finds a way to make you lose marks when you do so. Do not recommend to anyone who is looking for a prof.
