Dr. Nazgol Bagheri is the most engaging professor at UTSA. You cannot pass one of her classes without self reflection and new-found knowledge. This class consisted of reading intriguing articles (that she provided for free on BB), writing synopsis's, and a final essay, no stupid standardized testing! Take this class and you will evolve.

I highly recommend GIS by this professor; Dr. Bagheri's classes were engaging. Before I heard GIS is a hard course, she made it enjoyable and engaging (still technical and time-consuming). This professor is one of the few professors at UTSA who follows up weekly and cares so much to meet her students wherever they are. I had no GIS background, because of Dr. B's and her TA I did continue learning GIS despite my earlier failures connecting to ESRI/ creating my GIS online account. If you follow the detailed instructions you're fine!

I took two courses with this professor. One was an online GIS and the other was her social and sustainable public spaces. The latter course was experiential and a lot of fun we met at different parks and places in town after reading materials. I learned so much GIS can be tricky to start but as long as you communicate with her you can make it.

This course was a very well paced and organized class. I appreciated that the professor and TA gave many opportunities for communication, and I wish I had utilized them more. I learned a lot through the weekly GIS courses.

Dr B was very prepared for every module in this course. Her instructions were very precise and sharp, and she showed real enthusiasm for the class and for the subject. She was also available outside of the class, and responded to emails very quickly and efficiently. this was one of my favorite classes to date!

If you have to take GIS in an online format do yourself a favor and skip the one offered in architecture or geology and take this professor for Introduction to GIS. She answers emails in a few hours and is available to help both online and on campus. She masters GIS at UTSA!
