Nazia Kazi is the best professor I've ever had. She made me want to go to class at 8:30 am. Her lectures are amazing. Go to class, do the readings, participate, take notes, and you will succeed. Plus if everyone participates in class she cancels the final exam. There are reading quizzes every so often so make sure you keep up. Overall awesome.
I loved her class. Dr. Kazi is so funny. I took her for Race and Ethnicity, and I am taking her again for Race and Islam in the US. Great lectures. only mid term and final. If the whole class participates, she cancels the finals and gives a pizza party instead. DO TAKE HER!! Great experience in class.
Best teacher ever! Amazingly knowledgeable. Uses a mix of mediums to get you to learn like lectures , class participation, reading, watching videos, listening to hip-hop. She doesn't let you slack. She expects you to participate and do the work she assigns. If you do, you will not only get a good grade, you will learn something. Life changing.
The calss was boring and I'm glad it's over. She don't care about her students she give her students a bad attitude
She's not easy, but very smart and passionate about what she does. Hope to tak a class with her again.
She gives pop quizzes and you can't miss one. Her class is boring and long. I do not recommend her to anyone
Very boring professor
Take her class! She's smart and passionate, and she will change your outlook on being a student. Regular quizzes, but you can miss three without penalty. Exam is straightforward and she lets you use a page of notes on it.
First, the bad: you must read, attend class, be ON TIME. Now, the good: she's funny, very political, and she knows her stuff. She's young and interacts with her students as serious learners
I took two of her classes and taking a third next semester. Highly recommend unless you're looking for an easy A
Awesome professor! EXAMS ARE SUPER EASY, and you get to use a cheat sheet! You will love going to her class!
class was pretty easy, she makes the topic really interesting. could have given more feedback on written assignments. she is really funny, and she doesn't believe in powerpoints or textbooks.
Best prof at stockton - taking her other class next semester - can't wait
I loved having her as a professor. She is so passionate about the subject matter and she makes you look at things from a different perspectives. I loved her lectures. She's really pretty and funny too. Only down side is group projects. Plan on taking her again.
She's a hard professor and a tough grader
Except for the group writing project, her class rocks. She's a leftist, she's not easy, she has cool clothes. That's all.
Hands down best prof at stockton. And a nice piece of eye candy
You're a fool if you don't appreciate this prof.
Because of her class I'm now an anthro major.
Best professor at Stockton. Truly loves her job and really enjoys lectures. A lot of reading but its all worth it. Do your work, work hard at it, and she cancels the final! That only happens if you all actually try as a class!
She is absolutely amazing. Take her and you wont regret it. She's the reason there are as many anthropology majors and minors as there are at Stockton. Her lectures are really interesting and its difficult to be bored in the class. Honestly, I looked forward to coming every week.
Incredibly well-read, insightful and very intelligent. Also hilarious and ballsy. She's a blessing to Stockton's SOCY/ANTH department. Also, if you're a republican or right wing taking this class, prepare for a mountain of truth to crash over you. Lectures are fascinating and at some times the material is heavy.
Prof. Kazi knows what she is talking about but only lectures to one type of learner. If you are someone who can listen and learn then she is the professor for you. Not a lot of work to do for the class but grades hard and a lot of reading.
If you're reading this, chances are you're not sure what classes to take and you're trying to figure out if this is a good class for you. IT IS. Trust me. Two years ago I was a totally different learner and person before taking her class. She caters to multiple learners and is generous. Hands down best prof at Stockton. She is seriously incredible.
Best professor at this university. I was gonna drop out of school before I took this class. I hated learning but she inspired me to continue my education.
No one on this planet has helped me understand my place in this institution, society, and world besides her. The knowledge and care she gives to her students is so genuine-it is no surprise that I and a million other students are changed after taking her course. I hope that SOON she is fairly compensated for the insane labor she puts in, everyday.
If you attend Stockton University and you have not taken a class with Dr. Kazi, then you're not getting your money's-worth. Dr. Kazi is by FAR the best teacher I have ever had through all my years in school. Take a class with her, engage in conversation with the class, you will not regret it.
Tough but smart; brings humor to the classroom; pushes students to think
By far one of the best professors I had at Stockton! Her class is super easy and you understand the material by just listening to her lectures. She cares about her students learning and she makes that sure everyone's participating. Exams are easy and she cares more about the essays. The pop quizzes are easy as long as you do the readings!
Best professor hands down! She says what others are afraid to say but hits you with facts! Quizzes are easy just have to do the readings! No boring PowerPoint lecture! Essays arent too difficult you just have to do the readings and her outlines help you organize your paper.
Dr. Nazia Kazi is the best professor at Stockton. Shes the most intelligent, open minded, objective critical thinker, caring, hilarious person Ive ever met. She inspired to become a SOAN major and opened my mind more than anyone Ive ever met. Shes also the coolest professor at stockton hands down.
Dr. Kazi is a respected professor who gives insightful lecture into our social world. She doesn't use powerpoints and lectures a lot. She engages students and urges them to critically think in and outside the classroom.
Great professor inspired me to be a better woman lol
Kazi is an amazing professor, she is engaged in the class and topics and makes you interested in them even if you have never given a thought about them before. It is an engaged course so come prepared to learn however if you miss a class she does not count it against you, pop quizzes and tests are straightforward, some funny questions within!
Kazi knows whats up and youll learn a ton from her. Shes no BS and insanely knowledgeable. Get ready to get woke. Readings and lecture content are always interesting and relevant. Shes a fair grader and doesnt give a heavy work load. People of all backgrounds can gain something from her courses.
Professor Kazi is a great teacher who cares about her students. She engages students in the course material and makes it clear why the topic matters are important. There is 2 essays, 2 tests and pop quizzes. But trust me when I say that this is a VERY easy class. The tests are VERY easy, and she allows a cheat sheet. Essays are clearly defined.
Kazi was more than I ever expected as a professor. She makes you read, but the material is straight forward to understand. Some pop quizzes based on the reading, but one question and simple. Attendance isnt mandatory, but you will miss lecture notes. No powerpoints but Kazi makes the class extremely interesting. Be ready to blow your mind.
Professor Kazi gives you everything you need on the syllabus and anything missing from that in class. She is passionate about what she is speaking about and drives home the point of why what we are learning is important. There are not many assignments or tests but when they come you have better read all the required readings.
There'ss a lot of reading in this class. Attendance isn't "mandatory" but she does give pop quizzes so if you miss class you miss a quiz most likely. She grades hard on papers.
Nazia is super smart. prepared to get your mind blown in lecture and during the readings. More reading than other classes but the material is interesting and relevant if you care in the slightest about whats going on in the world. No textbook, just a couple novels needed
Shes very friendly and really cares about the material. But her exams are a bit complicated if you dont keep up with the readings. The questions are very specific to names, years and quotes. A lot of reading and its required because she administers pop quizzes.
Great professor, makes the material interesting. Really passionate about what she teaches. Loved her class. I took her to fill an at some distance
As long as you read the assigned material, Prof Kazi makes the class very easy for you. You will not do good if you do not know what you have read, because half of the exam is about the course readings. Otherwise, she is a very knowledgeable professor and you will enjoy her lectures. She never uses powerpoint.
Dr. Kazi always made class enjoyable! She is super funny and always willing to change stuff around to make things better for the class. There are a lot of readings, but they're super interesting. Pop quizzes come along, more than six of them, but she drops the lowest two. Very understanding and an overall great class!!
Although Prof. Kazi doesn't take attendance, she'll give pop quizzes throughout the semester. As long as you do the readings, they are easy. One midterm and one cumulative final as well as a group project. SHE DOES NOT USE POWERPOINT AND ALL NOTES HAVE TO BE HANDWRITTEN. Overall, a great professor, so wholesome and cares about her students.
Shes a very knowledgeable professor. That being said, she exhibited a very clear bias when teaching course material, and it frequently became political. Random pop quizzes throughout the semester instead of attendance being taken in her larger classes, one group video project, take good notes and youll do fine.
I loved her class. Dr. Kazi gives amazing lectures and brings attention to things you wouldn't think of otherwise. She does give readings and pop quizzes but other than that her class is very laid back. There is a midterm and a final but they're pretty easy if you pay attention in class. There's also a project due at the end of the semester.
Good prof super smart, hope to take another class w her
Amazing professor. She really opens your mind about some topics you thought you knew. She is very knowledgable and she truly cares about her students. Definitely recommend taking this course!
She's a real gem. I took her for an at-some-distance course 2 semesters in a row. It's a lot of reading, but interesting reading. You will never be bored in her class. If you suck at writing, you have to get better bc your grade depends on it.
Quizzes are off readings due that day in class. One group project. Must be in class for handout sheets. It's a lecture class, so make sure to take good notes. Class topics and readings make up 99% of the final exam. Show up, take notes, participate, do the readings and you WILL pass. She is really funny and passionate. I would take her class again
She's really passionate about what she teaches and that's what makes her a gem. She's sassy, intelligent, and unique. I learned more in that class than all of my years taking history classes. She blew my mind and had me at the edge of my seat every day in class if you get the chance, take her!
Probably the most well read professor I have ever had. If you ask a question she will answer it and then follow it up with suggesting a book on the topic, literally any topic and she has a book recommendation. She is a great lecturer, but does not use any slides so if you rely on slides to take notes, this isn't the best class for you.
WOW this woman is intimidating. Super super smart and BEAUTIFUL. This was the first class I've taken at stockton that feels like an ACTUAL college course. Doesn't let you take notes on laptops, but honestly it's fine that way. Really interesting material and she is a gifted lecturer. She is too good for Stockton.
Pop quizzes almost every class on the readings that are due each class. She lectures for the full class and refuses to use PowerPoints. A lot of the information is redundant but it's interesting. If you're very right wing DO NOT take this class.
Pop quizzes, so skip class wisely. Best class I have ever taken, and this is not even my major. Keep an open mind when she speaks. There is a group project at the end of the semester. DO THE READINGS. A seriously amazing professor, she even managed to make class interesting and engaging through the notorious zoom meetings. midterm and finals tests
If I could rate Professor Kazi with a zero, I would. Quizzes and asynchronous assignments due every week. She could lecture for a lifetime if she were allowed. Constantly is on her phone throughout the lecture, but yet she cannot answer an email? She says she will cancel the final but later gives you a final AND assignments due after the final.
I was really looking forward to this course; however, Kazi ruined it for me. She does NOT consider the fact that her students have other courses to worry about besides her class. She completely forgot to post the midterm and did NOT notify any of her students until the evening and then gave limited time to complete it.
Yawn, oh wait, did I miss something? Oh yeah, my last good brain cell. She makes you buy three books, and one of them is hers, boring and very dense readings. Do not waste your time, money, and energy on this course.
She is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. You NEED to go to her classes to pass because her class is very lecture heavy. I took her for Race & Islam, you need two books, and classes are once a week. However, she is an amazing professor and definitely knows what she is talking about. She is passionate, and always up for debate. 10/10
Kazi is one of the best profs at Stockton. Took her for Race & Islam in the US. She lectures a lot, but very clearly and you're bound to learn something. Cannot recommend enough. Didn't like that everything was on Zoom, but she did the best she could since it's covid.
The first time Ive had a class that was challenging AND enjoyable. Shes awesome, gonna take her class next semester too.
I absolutely loved Dr. Kazis social theory class. She really challenges her students to inform themselves and think critically about the society they live in. This class blew my mind, challenged me, and inspired me all in one. Highly recommend!
Kazi is the best!! Her lectures are so relevant to hot topics today, and she really makes you think. She is intelligent, well read, and totally awesome. I loved having her as a professor and I would take her again in a heartbeat. I also highly recommend the class in general!
Kazi's Social Theory class was great! She provided a really thorough syllabus at the beginning of the semester that she consistently stuck through. For COVID the class was all online, but regardless all course material was largely through book and article excerpts. She made the material accessible and opened my mind to a ton of new concepts.
Her class was a major flop, and a complete waste of time. She gives you quizzes almost every class followed by an assignment with very limited to complete. Total of 3 textbooks are used with the additional PDFs that she supplies, all of which are dense and boring. She also gives you work AND a quiz after the final exam. No feedback is provided.
I wish I could get my money and sanity back. The service learning project was pointless, her grading criteria does not exist, she does not answer emails, repeats herself in every lecture. Two weeks go by into the semester and everything goes downhill, especially Kazis teaching ability.
Kazi's "Race Ethnicity" course was awesome, even though it was all on zoom. You'll get out of this class what you put into it, FYI
intro to anthro was all online with 100 students and she still managed oto make class really interesting
Prof. Kazi is great! Yes, get ready to read and read, but it is interesting readings. You have to be open minded with this class because it will challenge everything we were taught in elementary school social studies. She gives plenty of examples to fact check her and she encourages it. She is super chill and will help you in anyway you need!
I love professor Kazi! After every class, I'm left thinking about the way the world is. Great person to talk to and ask questions. The books she had for class (social theory) can be used from the library or just buy them because they aren't expensive at all.
My new favorite professor!! Reading and writing is heavy in this class but its to make you think and be creative on what youre taking in. So intelligent and knowledgeable about the world. Just talk to her and talk to people in class to also talk. No one wants to hear from the same three people.
Kazi's mind is brilliant. If you don't want to hear about politics plus a lot of reading, then don't take her. I admire her ability to have one think about something that they normally wouldn't have thought of. Her class is not easy peasy, but it's not impossible to pass either. Stay on top of the readings and take good notes! You will learn a lot
First day a class, she goes. If you don't like reading, or pop quizzes drop this class. She first off doesn't have notes on board. She is very annoying and mean. If you miss class, its your fault. Don't take if you can't write notes down from her talking!
good lecturer, easy class, just read and take good notes you'll be fine
One of my favorite teachers. I have never been much of a reader but she assigns by far the best content. I feel so much smarter after having her and I suggest that everyone takes her. She has amazing lectures and all you have to do is take notes. Tests are on readings and class lecture. Put in the effort, and your grade will reflect!
Best prof at Stockton & super available to students outside of class (though all her office hours are on Zoom)
I had Kazi during the spring and was terrified since she seemed super tough. However, this ended up being my favorite class. She reiterated a lot during her class that these are not her opinions, these are FACTS you can find with a simple google search. Her lectures are amazing and easy to take notes on if you pay attention. 100% would take again.
Professor Kazi is tough but fair. She'll expect you to read (but guaranteed you'll learn something from the readings), but I also learned that skimming the readings will be enough to get by for quizzes and exams. The tests are open notes anyway. She does NOT use power points and does NOT take attendance (but gives pop quizzes).
Very informative
Overall she taught us many things that we wouldn't have known had it not been for her. She does expect you to complete the reading ahead of time because you will get quizzed on the beginning of class. The quizzes are easy just do readings. Some of the readings can be long or simple short articles. We were the 4th class to get an A in the final.
She's super easy as long as you read and come to class. If you struggle with absences you'll not do well.
Her class was pretty easy. I'm sure the harsh comments posted are from students who didn't do the work. I've taken all three of her classes at Stockton and got an A. Highly recomend.
If you take this professor she is very biased on her own beliefs whether they are correct or not. hard to get ahold out of classroom. I had Lap access but she never acknowledged it. Lies about syllabus and work that needs to be done. stay away if you care about your grades. if a teacher shaves its in the syllabus in the back of there head.
Took Intro to ANTH with her over the summer. It was all online. Easy, easy class, plus pretty interesting. You watch some recordings every week and then take a quiz, open notes. The readings were very good. Not sure if these comments would also apply to an in person class or a not summer term so keep that in mind.
I took ANTH 2245 in the spring, and she was a phenomenal professor, but there were a lot of readings. I spent more time doing the readings and taking notes on them than my other 3 classes combined. She has 7 pop quizzes (later changed to 10), and each is just one open-ended question, but as long as you read, then it's easy. Two exams, very easy too
I LOVED her. she brought so much insight to class, she's an activist so she encourages students to fight for our rights. she's very funny and wity. made herself available during office hours, after class and via email. I enjoyed the vids and books she assigned. no papers, one group project and her "quizzes" were like 2-3 questions about the reading
DO NOT TAKE NAZIA KAZI!!!!!!! She provides zero grading criteria and zero feedback on anything. Said that we wouldn't have a final exam and then gave us one anyways...along with a final GROUP project. Really rude and self important. Says things that are blatantly incorrect and then gets mad at you when you call her on it. Generally insufferable
Took her online intro to anth course. Was super interesting, learned a lot, and most importantly it was not terribly hard. You just have to read and pay attention, she walks you through the rest of it. She's funny af too.
I learned so much in this class with all the readings, take this class seriously and you will learn greatly
Took her class for Into to Anthropology online. Class is pretty straightforward for the most part. Gives all the work ahead of time so you could potentially work ahead if you wanted. The only thing you need to wait for her to post is the quizzes which are just pictures of your notes from the lectures/readings. As an intro course, I recommend it.
She's actually pretty easy and accommodating even though she seems tough at first. Attend class, take notes, you'll be fine.
I took her last semester, but I totally forgot to review her on here. She is beyond amazing, inspirational, intelligent, and exceptional. I took race, ethnicity, and immigration with her, and I can confidently say that I've never been more engaged and have never learned more from any other professor than I have from her.
She was one of my favorite professors. I didn't have any background on most of what she taught, but I learned a lot of interesting history that isn't taught in most high schools. It's an easy class if you do the readings. 5 or 6 pop quizzes, usually with 2 questions, but open notebook. Summarize readings in your notes! 2 papers, not long though.
Overall a very easy class because exams and quizzes are open notebook, however there is a lot of readings each week. Usually, if the class has good participation she will layoff on a quiz or even the final exam. There are no assignments.
Quizzes midterm and final r open note. There are 7 pop quizzes on the readings which are assigned for every class, but only 5 count(drops lowest 2) Take notes on the readings to do good on quizzes and take good notes in class otherwise you won't do good on midterm and final. You can't use laptop in class only hand written notes allowed
Professor Kazi was very well educated. Listening to her lectures was very interesting and motivating. The pop quizzes were only bad if you didn't do the readings (there are a lot of readings) but exams and quizzes are open notebook which is great.
DOES NOT PROVIDE FEEDBACK FOR ANYTHING! Had to email her to ask each time and it was inconvenient to everyone. Graded by 4 quizzes that she doesn't provide feedback on and takes points off for every minor thing. This semester 68+ readings, some up to 60 pages. Very difficult if you do not have up to 15hrs of free time in your schedule per week.
Funny, easy, and motivated professor. Liked her class a great deal. Very unclear why anyone would think the class is hard - she explains everything 90 times lol
Lecture is done verbally, notes must be taken on paper, and you can't make up any quizzes you miss. The midterm and final were extremely easy and open-note, worst part was the amount of readings required. Recommend you find someone to partner up with for collecting notes. Professor does drop quiz grades to help students pass.
Don't take this class.
Dr. Kazi is a great professor! You can really tell she cares through her teaching.she's passionate and makes the material engaging. There were only a few assignments, and all the quizzes and exams were open-note, which made things way less stressful. Just what you need to learn and succeed. I definitely recommend taking her class!
just run don't take her ruined my summer
If you follow instructions and read you'll do fine.
This class is horrible .For a 1000-level course, the workload is honestly next-level ridiculous. Every single week, you're loaded with 1–2 hours of video lectures, plus around 5–10 readings, and then another 5–10 videos, but the note grading is the absolute worst — she harshly grades your handwritten notes like your personal note style is wrong.
Super easy online class, tho you do have to do the readings/watch video lectures. If you follow instructions you'll ace jt
class is easy bc all you do is read, watch vids, and take notes. It can be a bit too much to do every week, but putting time in its doable. She can be pretty strict on note taking styles and will deduct points off. She will ask to purchase the book, but, its no use. We've only used it once and it was just for a split sec- not worth buying.
An educated baddie. One of the most passionate professors here at Stockton. A couple assigned readings prior to each class meeting. She doesn't take attendance but there are 7 pop quizzes so make sure to be prepared. A midterm and a final which are both open note. Long lectures but they are truly interesting and informative. Take her!
Kazi is the best prof I've ever had. She may seem strict because she doesn't allow phones or laptops, but she just wants you to learn. Class is lecture based with pop quizzes on readings with 2 exams. Ngl there's a lot of reading but it's manageable, as long as you read and pay attention in class you'll be fine. Highly recommend, I learned a lot!
Best professor I have ever had at Stockton. If you want an engaging, thought-provoking course. Take a course with Kazi. I have learned SO much in the span of one semester. Be prepared to take handwritten notes and do your readings, I promise they are important for the course and your learning experience. Sad the semester is over!
