He makes this class very easy. Most of the class got a high grade from him.
All I can say is that it was an easy class. He is a good teacher and can help you to understand marketing. I enjoyed his class. Study the quiz questions for the tests. The tests are really easy if you study the quiz questions. Most of the questions are just commen sense anyway. You'll get a good grade.
Great Teacher!! His personal experiences as owner of Maxfield's Chocolates make him a great instructor for people interested in learning about entrepreneurship. He really is concerned about his students! The material is easy as long as you complete the reading regularly.
Very easy to work with. He has experience in the field and that helps with his effectiveness.
Great teacher and very east class. Read the textbook and you'll get A's everytime.
DON'T TAKE THIS PROF! BIGGEST waste of time ever. He has no clue about how to do some of the assignments. He does not prepare his lectures before hand. We spent a WHOLE class period learning how to make a power point AFTER the entire class had already created one. Pointless professor. Easy A though.
Do Not Take This Professor. This guy has no idea how to effectively teach this class. He has no lesson plan. Has not explained assignments. Just sort of comes to class and whatever happens happens. We do not have a text book because it was not completed in time. His feedback on presentations is subjective at best and and not very helpful.
By far one of the most down to earth professors. He wants you to pass and his class is easy. Seriously the coolest guy ever. Take his class cause you won't regret it.
very good teqcher. not only very effective at teaching, but also alot of fun.
Required attendance, which sucks. Otherwise, great guy. Knows his stuff. The quizzes and tests are pretty easy if you either attend or read the chapter. No nasty suprises from this guy, final took about 15 minutes.
Awesome teacher. I really liked him. He gave us an outline in the beginning of the semester with deadlines of different projects and assignments. The person above probably forgot that they are in college and has to plan their time effectively to get the assignments done on time. This class was so easy. The assignments were a piece of cake. No think
I love Neal! Best teacher I have ever had. Very good at teaching you how to present properly! If you want a good solid teacher with little homework then take this class. You will learn more from him than any other teacher who teaches this class.
He's so tight! Just go to class and pay attention and you'll get an A. He is my favorite teach at UVSC
Very easy class, you just have to be there and pay attention, there was one small presentation that you have to do with a group, but it doesnt require a lot of research or work. Easy class and kind of fun
Prof. Maxfield is not only a great professor, but also and organized, professional, great guy to work with. I learned and retained more from his structured teaching style than from any other teacher at UVSC.
This class all you do is of course present a topic in power point. He's a chill teacher but at times a little not orginized. Grades pretty easy, but to get attendance points you got to go. Pretty chill and fun class.
Fun class, not hard, somewhat useful. Deadlines are soft
Best teacher at UVSC! I've had him for two classes and would love to take more from him. He helps you learn the material very well. Every teacher and UVSC should take a lesson on teaching from him. He's easy to talk to and really cares about each student. By far the best teacher I've had.
He used to run a candy company, but is teaching now, so he loves to talk about candy and he brings some for the final. He goes over everything for the quizzes in class before you take them. You do a group project, but it's not that hard if you work well in a group.
Good teacher. Seems like a bunch of busy work, but it helps you get to know yourself and how you fit into the business world. I liked the class. I would definitely recommend Neal Maxfield.
Maxfield has to be one of the greatest business professors at UVU! He is very knowledgable and business savvy...b/c he use to own a candy factory! He is very fun and genuine and is more than willing to help you understand the material. I loved his class and look forward to taking other classes he teaches. I strongly recommend Dr. Maxfield!
Maxfield is a great teacher. I was talking with the dept chair and he said that the only reason Maxfield isnt full time is he doenst have a PhD which is lame. He has taught me more than many others combined! He cares about his students and understands that they have life outside of school and doesnt load you up on homework and busy work. GREAT!!!!!
Below is my other post. I like his style so much I have actually had 3 classes from him. He knows how to teach and also has real world experience. I really wish that more "Professors" were more like Neal. He is one of only a few that adhere to the business dress request that the school of business set forth. He really wants to help. Again GREAT!!!
I took Saturday class from him. He was very helpful and understandable. His tests are not that hard and not tricky. If you attend class you should do just fine. We did a project, which a nice boost for a grade because it is very easy to do and worse a lot of points. Take him. Easy class
This is the best class ever, at UVU. Maxfield rocks, The class is very helpfull and you can apply it into real life.
Best Business teacher at UVU. He is what you want in a teacher because he worked in his field for years and now wants to share with his students.
He is a VERY easy teacher. Easy going. As long as you go to class, you will get a good grade. You don't need the book either for any of his classes that he teaches. Easy going, friendly, and brings chocolate for the finals day!
Good teacher easy class
Easy class, regular quizzes from the text book, average 15-20 questions each. Exams were simple, 3 total. Interesting information and one group project/presentation on your research-not too difficult. Great, nice guy, easy to work with.
The class was not too hard. I like him but, he is an ineffectve teacher. He doesn't teach; The entire class is just doing presentations. And awnswering useless assigned questions. The class was fairly easy.
Maxfield is a business vet with a lot of experience and a very sound understanding of business and management. What he is not is a teacher. Lectures are required, boring and mostly trivial. Expect to do most of your learning from the book. Not a bad teacher, but isn't very helpful. The project for this course is hefty, don't put it off.
I loved him! He is so easy going and VERY willing to help students succeed. There are several different group projects and one big individual project. He does take role everyday, and it is included in your final grade. Just ask questions, attend class, and you'll easily get a good grade!
If you have to take this class, take it from Maxfield! Everything is straight forward. Attendance is taken and necessary but helps with final grade. There are in class quizzes on every chapter but the same questions are used on the tests which make the tests super easy! There are extra credit opportunities too!
Easy class. Super nice guy. Interesting lectures but sometimes dry. A lot of people show up on quiz day and leave when the quiz is over. It's kind of ridiculous.
Professor Maxfield was really nice and was willing to help if you had questions. Dont wait until the last minute for assignments and you'll do fine.
This was an easy but enjoyable class. Neal is great to work with students, and grades and tests fairly. It isn't hard to get an A, and it's up to you what you walk away with from this class. Used the textbook for test reviews outside of class. I recommend Neal's classes.
Loved Maxfield! This dude has real experience and has succeeded in marketing. I don't know if I studied for more than a total of 3 hours for this class. In-class quizzes are big, so make sure to do well on those, considering that the tests are made up of mostly quiz questions. Easy and educational.
Fun class and a good teacher. The material is really easy, but it's an intro class in all honesty. Keep all of your quizzes and study those for the test, a lot of it is knowing and understanding terms.
Prof. Maxfield is a really nice guy. I enjoyed his class. My only beef was that we did a group project and my group did nothing but it wasnt that hard doing it my self, just a pain. Got an easy A.
Not the most interesting class ever. Before this class I thought I would be interested in going into business, but now I am just confused. He is very lenient in his grading, and often lets you turn things in late if you ask. Tests are purely memorization of facts and definitions.
Super easy teacher. If you pay attention you'll get an A. He does a big team project and one paper and that's pretty much it. I extremely recommend this teacher
I really enjoyed this class and recommend taking this class from Maxfield. He has great real world experience. I highly recommend this class!
Great professor! I would highly recommend him. Not very much homework at all. Mainly just a big group project. He is a very good guy who is also very understanding. He has a lot of real world experience with business and marketing.
He is a great guy! this class was not hard, and I came out of the class with a good understanding of marketing. Take from him if you want a good grade and good understanding of marketing. Also take any other class from him.
Great class! Professor retired from the business world and loves to teach. Mandatory attendance. Pick a good group the first week and you will do fine.
This review is regarding his online course. His required work may appear overwhelming but I was able to easily perform his group projects on my own. He communicates with the students and makes his assignments very clear, which includes examples. Review the weekly quizes for his tests and you should have too much of a problem.
Awesome teacher!! The class consists of 2 group projects which require a paper and presentation. He holds 4 tests which he prepares you for very well. There is a quiz every other class but they are simple and prepare you for the tests. MAKE SURE YOU PIC A GOOD GROUP TO BE IN! That is the key to having a good semester and getting a good grade.
Professor Maxfield is great. He is kind and knows what he is talking about. I have been in three of his classes now and he had group work in all three. I really hate group work but if you get into a good group it works out OK. His tests and quizzes are easy. Make sure to go the extra mile with projects, he only gives A's out for awesome work.
EASY CLASS, two group presentations so pick your group wisely. No homework other than the group presentations. had a small quiz every class. If you show up and put in half an effort in you will get an A. very little work outside of class. don't buy the book, just review Power Point online for quizzes. make sure you dress up for the presentations.
Incredibly possible for everyone to get an A. He's pretty cool and a fair dude. Sometimes he frustrated me.
You'll get an A with some work. Group presentations are fine and not hard, just time consuming. The Tests are the same as the quiz questions. My lowest grade on a test was a 92%
This was my second class with him. Fun class, I would recommend anyone to take his classes. If you are nervous about giving presentations he is the guy to take. He is fair in his grading and will focus on what you do well and try to help you overcome weaknesses. Many students went from barely standing there to being good presenters.
Just like others have said, find people in your class that would make a good group and sign up for the same topic for group presentations. If you do that this class will be so easy. Even if you don't get a good group (like me) you'll still love the class and get an easy A. Quizzes are easy if you read the book. Quiz questions are put into his tests
Professor Maxfield is a great teacher! Has a lot of real world experience and brings that to the classroom. Always willing to help and is understanding. Quizzes on each chapter. Tests based on quizzes. Only assignments were group presentationspapers. I am not the biggest fan of group work. **PICK A GOOD GROUP. Same group for the entire semester.
I had him for this class and MRKT 3600. In this class he didn't know how to explain assignments at all. Students were confused and asking tons of questions, but in the other class he was fine. He takes roll each class. He is always still teaching when the class time has run out. He gives instant feedback on assignments. Overall good teacher.
great professor, took alot of effort, GET A GOOD GROUP!!!!
He is a sweet guy who wants you to do well. You have quizzes on each chapter, but the material is all from the power points he gives in class, so just pay attention to those and review beforehand and you will do awesome. He does a TON of group presentations, so sign up with other good workers when you choose your product presentation at the beginn
I have had him for 3 different classes here at UVU. He is a super nice guy and cares about his students! I would take him again! P.S. Don't get the book for any of his classes. I haven't used any of them.
I wish there were more professors like him on campus. He is understanding, flexible, and inspirational. He has a passion for what he teaches and you can tell! Class is enjoyable, and he prepares us well for quizzes and tests. His lectures are lively and easy to follow. I wish he taught more classes! Recommend him 100%
I liked Neal a lot, he was an incredibly nice teacher. He gave the class the option of taking our quizzes home instead of having to come in the Friday before spring break. The only thing I didn't like about this class was the group work, I ended up doing more than half of a 4 person project because my group consisted of slackers.
Professor Maxfield is a sweet guy. Life experience adds a lot to the learning atmosphere. Quiz on every chapter in the book, has slideshow reviews on all of them. 3 tests. Group you join at the beginning of the semester will be your life. You will do products, papers, projects, quizzes, and presentations together all the time. Lots of group work!
Neal is an awesome teacher. He has been around for a while so he knows the material well. He also has real world experience. If you go to class every time you will get an A. This class does have a ton of group assignments, so make sure you get a good group at the start. If you have to take MKTG3600 - take it from Neal.
Professor Maxfield is very passionate about Marketing, and has a lot of experience in it. All of your assignments will be with your group so choose wisely. Ask very specific questions about the grading and call him out if he is inconsistent, we had a problem with that. He could be more up to date with today's social marketing, but a nice guy.
Professor Maxfield brings plenty of real-world experience to his course. There was a lot of work, but it was generally appropriate to the class level. Choose your team mates wisely (first day of class) because you will be working with them for the rest of the semester.
Most sincere and kind professor I have ever had. This class got me out of my comfort zone and really made me improve my presentation skills. It's not too bad presenting because the classes are smaller. Maxfield wanted me to succeed and gave me great feedback on how to be a better presenter. Take him if you can!
I took him for Business Presentation and Principles of Marketing. I would take another class from him if I could he tests in what he teaches. Great professor.
Just make sure you have a good group for the projects overall loved the class most applicable class i have ever taken!
A little unorganized at times, but he's very clear on what he's looking for and will give great feedback
Great teacher. Loved this class. Learned a lot while not having to stress to much about it.
Neal is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I have never gone on here and rated a professor before but I wanted to for him. He's such an incredible teacher and I would take every class offered if I could from him and if someone has the option of taking him please do it!
Professor Maxfield is Awesome! Great Professor , his class isn't to hard and I learned a good amount for an intro class. Super nice and willing to work with you, especially with work related absences. Get a good group because he has group projects.
My favorite teacher I have had in college so far. Really fun assignments, that he lets you choose your topic. He is really clear on how he wants it done. He gives you THE BEST feedback before you give your presentation, making sure you pretty much get an A. I am already signed up to take him again next semester for a different class.
Awesome guy! Great class. A lot of work but if you stay on top of it and do the extra credit too you should get a high A. Professor Mayfield is a real genuine man and I would recommend for everyone to take him even if you have to sit on a waiting list.
Grading criteria was a bit unclear, but he gives a lot of extra credit and is generous with your scores. There are a few individual and a few group presentations. It's very easy to communicate with him outside of class. He really cares about each student.
Great class! Neal is amazing! He wants everyone to succeed and get an A! As long as you show up you will! Would recommend him for anyone that loves to chill and have fun and get to know your teacher and classmates he provides a great environment!
I ended up with 107% in this class when some people in my class were almost failing but all you need to do is make sure you turn in everything! Some assignments he doesn't advertise well but he accepts late work so just be sure to get it in!
He's the best. Other reviews say it well enough. He does give good info and sources. He may be easy but doesn't mean you don't learn quality material as well! Take him!
Pretty easy class- there are no surprises. Make sure you get in a good group the first day because you will be with them all semester. Grades papers easy. Lots of quizzes- 3 exams and they use past quizzes.
Favorite professor. Has real passion and gets you excited. Gives great and timely feedback. Presentations can be fun if you put work into them. Attendance helps at the end. Textbook is $20 and used on first test. Always available to answer any questions or concerns. Already registered to take another class by Prof. Maxfield.
Awesome Professor! Very friendly guy who has a lot of knowledge from prior business management experience. He has a clear grading criteria for his Business Presentations class. The only way to get lower than an A on your presentations is to not give any effort. Lastly, pick a solid group in the beginning of class... you'll thank me later.
Neal is one of my favorite professors at UVU. He is so genuine and caring. You will most likely be put in a group to work with for the semester so choose wisely haha. Neal is super approachable and very kind. 10/10
Neal is a pretty straight forward grader. You give about 4-5 presentations and one group project that you are supposed to do throughout the semester. The presentations are not too difficult if you practice. Do not try to wing them. I won't work. Has 2 exams, not very difficult if you study.
I graduate next semester and he has been my favorite professor. Easy A, I learned a ton of useful things, fun class. There is a lot of group work so sit by the smart kids :)
Maxfield is a great professor who wants his students to succeed. As long as you put in the preparation and send all of your rubrics on time you'll pass.
Professor Maxfield feels the need to assert dominance in his class like your a child. He is VERY unorganized, grades extremely harsh, and does not teach anything beneficial about Business Presentations. I never would of imagined this would of been my hardest class of the semester. Save yourself and take this class from someone else.
Professor Maxfield is an interesting dude. Make sure you know what's on the syllabus because he doesn't like to remind you when tests and quizzes are until the day before. He also has us do a group service project which doesn't really seem to be relevant to the class. I took business presentation and his presenting style seems a little old fashion.
Neal is a really good professor and wants you to do your best. That being said, he's pretty strict on grading and he's not always super clear with his instructions. There are a handful of presentations and a group project you'll be working on all semester. I did learn a lot from him though and the book that was required was pretty cheap.
Professor Maxfield is a super personable guy who is very accessible outside of class. Has set up his class so you learn exactly what you need to. As long as you do your presentations you should be good to go. His only downfall is sometimes he isn't very clear on what he expects from you on assignments.
Easy class, but the presentations are nonsense. Dumb, old-fashioned format, not applicable to any real business presentation. Semester-long group project, massive waste of time. Easy class, but don't expect to learn anything.
Neal is a pretty easy going guy, but the way he teaches you to do a business presentation is VERY outdated which you learn on the first day. Ironically, you watch a video of Steve Jobs doing a decade old presentation of the iPhone 3, which contradicts nearly everything Neal teaches you to do. Do the presentations the way he likes and it's an easy A
Maxfield is an easy A for your basic presentation class. You do multiple presentations throughout the semester and one group presentation. If you show up to class and put in the little effort, it's an easy A. He cares about his students and is willing to work with you if you show effort.
All you have to do to get a good grade is 1) read his feedback on your presentations and apply to next presentation and 2) follow his formatting for PwrPnts and delivery (even if you disagree). In the group project, let him know if you are the only one putting in 100% effort so that he is softer on grading, but he won't care about the unfairness.
It is unclear what is expected of you, and if you don't do something exactly how he wants you to he will fail you. Don't take him unless you like guessing what your professor wants all semester.
Awful teacher if you don't do things exactly how he wants them he will dock you points heavily. I had "Voting" at the beginning of a sentence to start a sentence with a verb he told me that I needed to change it to "A vote" to start the sentence with a verb. After I proved him wrong he inequitably docked me points on every assignment after.
The group project at the end is a nightmare if you don't get a good group. I will never take from him again. You have to do it the way he likes even when it doesn't make any sense. the presentations were dry and boring and you weren't given the freedom or encouragement to experiment. waste. of. time.
He has a very traditional teaching style. If you are not extremely proper with the way you speak, you will get marked down, as well for small human errors. Tough grader and gives little feedback on what is expected of you as a student. If you are going to take this class, I would wait until it is back in person.
He is a very "by the book" grader. Its really hard to get an A on any of the projects for the class. He's very critical of your work and presentations, and will always find something wrong with them. Not a hard class to pass, but the guy doesn't give you any slack.
Was a very interesting class.
I took this class online, and we would have to film presentations. He accused me every time of reading slides in front of me when I wasnt, and spent a lot of time memorizing. I followed all of his feedback from previous presentations, and he would comment and say that wasnt what he wanted? The class was horrible, and nothing i did was right.
Not very specific for what he wanted. You have to follow his example word for word or you will get docked. Do too much and you get docked. Do too little and you get docked. I would not take this class from him Online.
Hes contradicting with certain things, very old school, very picky on grading if you don't do it exactly how he wants it done. Glad I took it online so I could record my presentations ahead of time and didn't have to do it in person. Not impossible but one of my more annoying classes i've taken.
Neal is very traditional and a lot of the curriculum feels a little outdated. However, he gives AMAZING feedback. Each assignment gets feedback, and I honestly felt like I improved. The presentations are easy if you just follow the examples. There were times I felt I got graded a little too harshly, but he was great overall!
This really wasn't a bad class. If you follow the criteria given, you will do just fine. Professor Maxfield is very responsive, I would get same day responses even on a Saturday. He is old school, but I did feel like I learned some great skills from this class.
This class was very interesting and you learn a lot of important things. However, it is very hard. The professor was a VERY tough grader. It makes sense why it is so hard, but it is something to consider when taking this class.
Although I thought Professor Maxfield was a good teacher, his grading seemed a bit biased towards his own criteria, and not the course criteria. But, if you do everything exactly how he wants it, you should get an A.
Professor Maxfield is a great professor! This was a decently challenging course. The great thing is that you learn quite a lot and the structure is very easy to follow. He gives great feedback as well! Be prepared to give a few presentations for a majority of your grade.
Professor Maxfield is amazing! Very enthusiastic and teaches great material. Helped the class get out of our comfort zone
His idea for a "good" presentation is outdated. He marked me down for wearing slacks instead of a dress because he'd never seen anyone present dressed like "that." If you want to get anything out of this class take someone else. If you're wanted to have a Professor dictate every little thing you do then he's the one for you.
If you want to become a great presenter and actually have fun becoming one, take Professor Maxfield's class! He changed my skills and outlook on presentations from being nervous and afraid, to confident and excited which is crazy to me! Loved this course!!!!
