Professor Phillips is always smiling and enjoys life. His class is hard and he gives way too much work, but I learned a lot.

I found him to be nice but arrogant. He gave a lot of work that wasn't always collected. Graded work took forever to get returned.

he's so...expressive. he was saying stuff so alive, like "Othello! he represents the symbol of looove!"and he was so easy and fun. my friend used to say he was the hottest english teacher since high school.

i think that he was a great teacher. he used a lot of different teaching methods and we did some cool things in the class. if you are a good student and not just looking for the least work possible you can appreciate his class.

Mr. Phillip's class was great. My class was called the "Friday Night Fun Bunch". The class was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Granted, we did have a lot of assignments that I worked hard on then they weren't collected. But he is a pretty cool

Took Freshman Comp online with him, AMAZING professor. Assignments were easy to understand and were given with PLENTY of time to complete. He reads all the papers you write and critiques them individually for you. I learned a lot with this class. If you do the assignments and submit them on time, easy A.

He can be your best friend... get on his bad side and he's brutal!

I loved this class. The instructions were very clear as to what he expected. Dr Phillips gave a lot of feedback and it was extremely helpful. He is by far the best instructor I have had since starting back to college. Take his class and you will be happy you did.

He was my favorite professor two semesters ago. And I know I'm not the only one who had a crush on him. :) Would pass by last semester just to say hello -- he always smiles. He does know his stuff, but if you're not serious about the class, you're finished. Don't be absent.

Dr. Phillips is an outstanding teacher, philospher, and educator. "Too whom much is given, much is required." Show up, do the work, dont text, listen and I guarantee an A along with a resource when you not even in his class anymore! I hate poetry etc, but he made Othello, etc interesting. Rewards merit, Vet friendly.

He was a GREAT teacher,still in his class now. As long as you are in class and do your work you'll do great! Once again he is a GREAT teacher!

Professor Phillips was cool. You liked him if you worked hard and attended; those who didn't complained all the time about him. Oh well, just come to class and you will do good. Very straightforward and charming. I enjoyed the class.

He is a great English teacher. I don't see why people give him negative reviews. Makes class enjoyable. Gives work, but not too much. One research paper that he gives MONTHS to work on and is sarcastic/hilarious. Try your best and you will be rewarded with a good grade. Oh, and the writing assignments are actually enjoyable!!

Prior to this class I had taken AP Literature and AP language in high school. I would say that I was more than prepared for assignments like writing an essay every week. So, this class was simply a breeze, and this guy made it rather enjoyable. He's funny, entertaining, and overall a cool professor. I plan on registering for his ENC1102 class too.

Prof. Phillips starts out hard, but I have found him getting easier throughout the semester. He is understanding about personal requests. He picks on himself way too much, he's not that bad. I have a new perspective on poetry.

Dr. Phillips was hard, but I learned a lot and he always kept class entertaining. He'll act silly or serious depending on how he wants us to act. He grades hard but accurate. I would take Comp. 2 from him but he's not teaching it.

He is a great college professor if you are looking to make an A+. He is very helpful as well as understanding. He has a funny sense of humor and does not ask much from his students. Fun class. TAKE HIM!

Best online class I have taken!! I absolutely hate writing and it took me 3 attempts to get through Comp I but only one with this class and I actually ended up really liking it. He is very funny, explains everything clearly, and gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. All around great teacher!!

Dr. Phillips is definitely a professor that you should take! He's funny and he takes material that would otherwise be boring, and makes it interesting! The workload was pretty heavy, but they're mostly group projects and book work so it was pretty easy.

He is super nice. He replys to emails quickly, and doesn't load you down with work. I only had to write one MLA style paper. He's not a harsh grader either. However... there is a few assignments that are humiliating that require you to sing and act. I would not take his course again for that reason alone.

Dr. Neal Phillips is an excellent teacher to have. He has a fun personality which makes him easy to talk to about issues you're having. JUST PARTICIPATE and you'll do great! I took him for 1101 and jumped for the chance to finish 1102 in a 6 week course (not recommended if taking 4 other classes) which is still in progress.

He is amazing! So easy to speak with and responds quickly to emails. This course was fun and has a end of week deadline which is nice when you are taking other courses and have to work and kids.

Professor Phillips is the best! I honestly recommend him to anyone. He was a great freshman comp. teacher and he is very understanding. Anyone to take him is lucky. He does give a lot of work but its book work and just takes dedication and focus! He's amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Professor Phillips makes a traditionally boring class interesting, but don't let his humor fool you, his grading is a little tough. Professor Phillips allows you to rewrite papers to improve your grade, though. My favorite part of the class was when he made up put a poem to a song rhythm, our group did royals by Lorde.

Professor Phillips makes learning fun! Participation in group activities is a must! Creativity and hard work does not go unnoticed in this class. Participate, do the homework, show up to class, study and you will pass. I would highly recommend Professor Phillips as I took both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 with him.

Dr. Phillips, is a great professor. He takes his ENC 1101 class and makes it fun and entertaining. He does give reading assignments for homework. But, they are only to benefit you as the student understand different types of essays. We did have a group project, but it was fun and everyone got to know each other. I would highly recommend his class!

This professor is really good I highly recommend him. participation is a must thought and try your best to complete all assignments, it the completion that matters. He gives alot of extra credit once he sees that the class is participating and is dedicated, so get your classmates on board. I am definitely taking him again

Phillips was cool. Always had this mischievous grin going, like he knew what was going to happen in class before it did. He was good at manipulating students into participating and getting emotional responses to literature. I liked him.

Great Professor, very nice and funny guy. What I loved most was that we had multiple attempts on all of the quizzes and the final exam. Although, he is a slow grader.

ENC 1101 was by far the easiest class I have taken. Phillips lets you retake each quiz and assignment as many times as possible for full credit. There was no super long essays either. I would highly recommend taking this class because it's an easy A.

This class was easy and straightforward. I took his class online and he loads the majority of the work up front. It was easy to get an A as long as you did the work as he asked. He never gave any feedback and all semester there were many things left not graded. If you email him, don't expect a response. His few lectures are pretty entertaining.

Really good guy. Easy grader, just do your work on time. A few papers, not too long though. Tests you can take over and over again until you get a good grade. He just takes forever to grade work.

hes a funny & nice teacher. always responded to emails there's a lot of work in the class, so make sure u set aside time 2 do the projects & hw. had 2 or 3 group projects which was a little difficult cause we'd have to work with other students & some group members didnt reply but he worked with me. dont hesitate to email him!!! also, watch the vids

Professor Phillips course online was easier than any high school course I ever even took. The only complaint I have is that he never graded any of the assignments that had to be hand graded. On the very last day of the course there was still nothing put in. Good for an A, not if you are really wanting to learn and get feedback.

I took Phillips for the spring semester. I have to say that his class was amazing. Highly encouraged group work and analysis on how poems in the old days relate to nowadays. He will make you sing so if you're a bit shy, be prepared. Overall, he's a nice dude and an even better teacher.

TAKE HIM. End of the semester & a lot has not been graded (online class). 100's on everything that has been graded. Composition is my best subject so this class was a breeze. Classmates struggled, however. Nice professor, takes bit to reply to emails. He's an easy A. Not sure if he really truly "grades" anything, or just gives out A's.

Took this class online. One discussion each week and a few reading questions. He posts each story we read on Canvas. Only 2 essays. He does have us work in groups. He takes a long time to grade but I've gotten 100s on everything that's been graded. Very easy grader. It takes awhile for him to email back, but most of his work is straightforward.

I loved Prof. Phillips class this semester. I admit, he wasn't there every day (personal reasons) but the class was enjoyable. The Pre-Test and the Final are exactly the same. There are several essays throughout the class but are pretty easy. Prof. is very caring and he really wants you to succeed. He's also really funny and teased students often.

Professor Neal Phillips was over all an easier grader. Whenever we had an assignment involving the textbook he had the passages available for us to use. So if you are taking this online you don't need to buy the book. He graded the few essays fairly easy. There was a lot of extra credit. The pre test is the exact same as the final.

Hes a really easy-going professor. Hes pretty engaging and wants to include everyone to participate. The work itself is pretty easy and straightforward. But do make sure you complete them and turn them in on time. I took him for both Comp classes and I did just fine. If you really want to pass, I suggest this professor.

if you are decent at English already, itll be easy for you. If you struggle, this class might be a lot for you but you will definitely learn. Dont worry about buying the book, he provides the readings. He gives a lot of tedious work in the beginning but towards the end there is barely any work. There is only one test, the final, which is easy.

He's very quirky, walks around barefoot, makes nicknames for you. extra credit is a game! 2 big essays, and just enough homework. not horrible if you ASK QUESTIONS. I had never heard of MLA, and he was caring enough to give me places and people to help me. 1 group project, and don't be afraid to sing. Overall great professor.

He was my favorite teacher all year. He is halarious, which makes his class more comfortable and takes the edge off. He gives tons of extra credit, so there really is no excuse for failing. Just make sure you turn in your work on time, and if you don't like your score, there is ALWAYS extra credit. I would definetly take him again.

Prof. Phillips has definitely won my heart. I took both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 during my dual enrollment time and he definitely made me excited for what is next. Lots of quizzes online, About 2-3 Essays, a relatively easy final for ENC 1101 and a final research paper for 1102. Great guy, with a giant heart!

TAKE THIS CLASS!! He is by far my favorite teacher! He is super layed back and caring. He genuinely wants you to succeed. Lots of extra credit, so much in fact that its almost impossible to fail. He is supportive and is halarious which helps you to feel more comfortable in his class.

professor phillips had a pretty easy class, you had to read one book and write a research essay at the end of the course which he gave a lot of time for and really wasnt that bad. what made me mad was the group work, unfortunately i was put in a group with people who would not help me with anything and that is what brought my grade down.

professor Phillips was honestly the best teacher I think Ive ever had. He cares so much about his students and is always willing to help, never makes you feel dumb or left out. Tells a lot of jokes and makes the class way more interesting. Wish I was still in college so I could be in his class one more time. Love him and 1000% recommend

I LOVED HIS CLASS. Yes he give a lot of assignments but they aren't hard if you do the readings.

Dr. Phillips is pretty straightforward with the assignments. He gives a rubric for each writing/project, review that and make sure you are doing what's being asked of you, and get your work in on time, you should have zero issues receiving a high grade. This class was fun and engaging.

Nice and funny professor, intentionally tries to make his class simple and makes jokes, and most of his assignments have clear rubrics. Only problem is he has strict attendance policies (miss class twice and your grade drops 20%, three times is a 50%) and can take a week or two to grade an assignment. All in all, good professor, I recommend him.

I took this course online as well and I encountered no issues. Some weeks we did have 8-10 mini quizzes in a module about that weeks grammar which only took an hour if you aren't stupid. Clearly outlined rubrics for every assignment and he does grade by those rubrics so if you follow them you'll be fine. He is wonderful and hilarious and unique.

Mr. Phillips is a great professor; he always gave me in great detail everything I needed to improve in each essay. Not to mention that he was available when I needed to talk about my performance in class!

Dr Philips is one of the best professors at Valencia college. He's very responsive and understanding, he's also quite forgiving with the grading, as long as he sees you're trying hard. There are a couple big group assignments at the end of the class, but I wouldn't worry about them that much. If you have to take an English class take this one.

I would definitely take this class again, if you have a sensitive humor please don't mind his Jokes, only like 4 papers, a couple of poems (YOU HAVE TO READ THEM, RANDOM QUIZIZZ ON THEM) Overall pretty nice. Also he's a super detective on AI in your writing so don't even think about it!!

Not many things are graded in this class. He sometimes gives good feedback but then other times he just gives you a grade without much explanation. Group projects are relatively easy. MAKE SURE YOU PARTICIPATE. He does grade assignments but he does take a while to do it. If you are okay with not knowing your grade for a while then take this class.

This class is a bit essay heavy. There is one essay that is 500 points, along with almost weekly discussions. They are not hard, but it's a good amount of work. There are also two group assignments where you have to video chat. Overall, the class is not that hardest, but turn things in on time. He is a good professor too, but takes long to grade.

Professor Phillips' class has a lot of work, but it's manageable if you stay on top of things. The assignments can be challenging, but he provides clear feedback to help you improve. I found Unstuck study really helpful for preparing for the quizzes.

He's A great teacher, his HomeWorks aren't that hard a couple of stories and questions and a couple of essays but those are also not hard. he's a laid back teacher with good jokes and easy going also a decent amount of extra credit.

Professor Phillips class was pretty easy. At the time I took the class he had 2 group projects at the end of the class. They are pretty easy. I ended up helping another student, who wasn't in my group, with both of his group projects because his group decided not to do the assignment and I got a huge amount of extra credit for it. Overall easy.
