Prof. Gelker is a great art history teacher.She really has a passion about the subject.If you need to make up work and have valid excuses she's very lenient.You don't NEED the textbook but useful for extra info.Class is easy if you keep up with the notes.she gives you everything you need.Definitely recommend her,she's great.

shes an awesome teacher..she teaches art history (which can be a very dry subject at times) and makes it interesting. shes gives the test questions for you to study before the test!! read her study guides and youll get an A

Easiest class of my life. She gave out amazing notes, that if you read them, and slightly plunged into the book, you got 100% on every test. I suggest taking her for Art History no matter what because you will love the grade you receive in her class.

Professor Gelker is obviously very knowledgeable in art history and will do what she can to keep you interested and pass. it would be very difficult not to pass this class let alone get an A. she gives hand outs which is all you really need. you dont HAVE to buy the text book you can look up the art pieces online. highly reccomended!

this is one of my favorite classes and professors. people actually fight to get into her class. professor gelker is very upbeat, funny without trying, and intelligent. she makes the class easy enough if you study, and she keeps the topic interesting. i'd recommend her to anyone interested in art or art history. she's also really friendly.

Good teacher, very passionate about the history of art, frankly I could care less about art, but I had to take the class and she made it worthwhile, she gives handouts for everything, no homework at all, just show up to class everyday, pay attention and you'll get an easy A.

I really don't care about art, but this professor is so excited and happy about everything, she makes the class really interesting. Her tests are very easy, and she has a review day. You can get an A without the textbook. She's really sweet, I had a great time in her class!

Great professor with a great personality. Provides extensive notes to prepare you for exams. No homework, but between 4 and 5 exams during the semester. You don't need to buy a book because Dr. Gelker essentially walks you through the class. As long as you pay attention, listen, and study, you should get an A. Took her twice and she's just awesome.

The class is pretty easy, you don't even need the textbook because she types up all your notes on a packet at the beginning of a unit. Attendance is mandatory if you want the packets, but you can ditch a few days and just get the packet at a later class or off someone else. Sometimes she gets to have a bit of a freakout, but whatever. Easy A.

Very easy and enjoyable. TAKE HER CLASS. Make sure she doesn't see you just leave her class, she knows she makes her class easy but it will offend her if you take advantage of that.

Class is pie. She provides you with notes that go with her lectures and the tests are taken straight from them. There is no homework except for going to COCs art gallery here and there. As long as you pay attention and attend class, a book isn't really necessary. She is, overall, a genuine person and wants you to pass. Definitely recommend.

She is very nice sometimes she gets off topic but she is really nice I took all 3 of her classes and she is the nicest person I have ever met and I still keep in contact with her. She letures every class and she gives you the notes and the tests are just like the notes, you just have to remember the paintings but its easy

She is an easy teacher. I didn't buy a book and got a B. She types out notes for you and repeats what will be on the test. All of her lectures are on PowerPoint which might make you sleepy. She is normally late to class and she doesn't take attendance but threatens that she will one day. Hide laptops and phones and go to the bathroom before class.

I took her for Art History 110 and Art History 115. I am an Art History major and taking her class made everything so easy to comprehend and intriguing. Participate, take notes and use her detailed study guides and you will get an A. I loved this class and plan on taking her again. Whatever you do dont call her Miss Gelker just professor hahaha.

Art History 115 with Mrs. Gelker is really chill she's very corky and spunky! the class was really easy and i suck at history in general! she tells you to buy the book but you don't use it at all! she hands out the packet notes for every exam! the exams aren't so hard just read read read your notes and you should be good in the class! RECOMMEND HER

I did bad on the first test because I didn't know what to expect, but the rest of the tests I got 100%. I got a B though because we NEVER had homework. Go to the study sessions that replace a class day, she basically spoon feeds you the answers for the tests. Don't think you can't study though. Use a day to memorize the dates for the artwork!

Dr. Gelker is a good professor overall. Sure, her powerpoints are a bit boring at times but shes very helpful and enthusiastic about art. The tests are difficult but if you study and keep the handouts she gives you, youll do well. Also, always go to her review days before the test. She practically gives you the answers.

Best teacher ever. Her class is easy .the class could be very difficult because the class covers a too much information. First I study without using her notes; didn't know what to expect. I got and A but I always get As.For second test I used her notes without book and got and A.Difference is that without notes I had to study like 90p with notes 2p

At first I was so bummed that I had to take an Art History class but Dr. Gelker really made it easy for me. No textbook required (I didn't even buy the thing), lecture everyday, and 5 or so tests throughout the semester that make up your final grade. She was sweet and helpful.

Didn't take any of the lower classes for 115 but ended up with an A. Seriously who could not? She makes packets that contains the answers to the test, you don't even have to take notes just follow along! It makes the class fun and you are able to pay attention to the lectures better and observe the art pieces during her powerpoints longer

Great professor! Definitely would take her for another class. I really gained an interest in the arts because of her. You don't need the textbook. Just study the hand-outs. The tests mainly ask the name of a work, year it was done, and the artist of the work(which she provides in the hand-outs)!She's funny. Just make sure to be there for class.

Lets be honest here, art history is for general ed (mostly). If you're looking for a teacher that will baby you throughout the entire class this is the class for you. The exams DO NOT require text books (she gives you answer sheets) and although attendance is needed its not really so long as you don't make yourself stick out (all she has is exams).

I have not glanced ONCE at the textbook and managed to perfect scores. The key is to read the handouts she gives religiously. She's pretty nice overall, you'll learn some cool stuff!!

Super easy... always goes over what is going to be on the test. Just highlight the info she tells you to on her provided handouts and you will get an A. All her tests are equally weighted with IDs for 7-8 images of artwork and super easy multiple choice Qs. Just memorize dates for the art and use process of elimination. Awesome, easy class.

Professor Gelker was a wonderful teacher! I was not interested in this class at all but loved it and am going to take more art history classes. She is very straight forward and tells you pretty much everything you need to know for tests, gives you notes to study (book not needed). She's pretty passionate about art history and gives out lecture notes and study guides for her ridiculously easy exams. Never skip class, though, because a) even if she doesn't take attendance she knows and b) she adds some things to the lecture notes and tells you stuff on the exam.

3 tests plus midterm and final. Gives you study guides for every test which outline EXACTLY what will be on the test. As long as you study the study guide using flash cards and show up to class, you're guaranteed an A. Easiest class I took this semester.

Gelker by far offered the easiest class I took in my college life. Go to class, receive her lecture notes, and pay attention to what she says. She literally tells you what is on the exam. Professor Gelker is great. The only thing she loses her mind over is cellphones, she will lose her cool if you have your phone out. I actually saw her kicking a couple of students out because of that. Apart from that, interesting material, and final is not cumulative (YAY). Follow her study guides, really know whats in it, and you will get an A.

Take any class offered by this professor! I have taken her Art History 110, 111 and 115. This was the easiest class I've taken at COC. She gives study guides which is basically everything needed for the test. And don't miss review days! Seriously she will tell you exactly what is on the test that day.

Shes very knowledgeable about all arts. I studied for all of her tests the day before and passed all of them. Its really easy she gives you all of the answers during class. just show up, its an easy A. She even tells you that in the beginning.

You do not have to buy the textbook, she gives you study guides that are exactly like the tests. Just review the study guides and you'll be just fine. I honestly learned so much (not just about art) but about the cultures surrounding them. She's a lovely teacher, but if you do not like just lecture classes then this maybe not right for you.

She wants all of her students to succeed and do well in school. For this reason she gives you all the material you need to get an A in her class and makes sure everyone understands the material. However, she is a stickler about being on your phone and missing more than missing more than 3 classes (but still rarely takes attendance)

This class was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Her test are really easy and her study guide is EXACTLY what is going to be on the exam. There are no surprises in her class, if you study the study guide she gives you, I ensure you that you will get an easy A.

Entire grade is 5 or 6 MC tests. If you're absent more than 3 times she'll drop you. She gives you extremely detailed and specific study guides. Read your handouts! She gives you a list of images you're responsible to memorize and reviews a lot for each test so show up and study really hard and do well and she'll love you. No phones or laptops.

Perplexed by negative comments? Gelker is straight-forward. Her study guides-condensed minibooks. Utilize guides, chapt, take notes, study w/flashcards. This is prep 4 the real world! I love Professor Gelker and her class! The only thing you do in the class is listen to lectures and take tests. Gelker tells you EXACTLY what will be on the test, so show up and pay attention.

I just had her this semester for Art 110, and here are a couple things you should beware of: 1) you have to study for the tests, 2) only grades are five multiple choice tests, 3) she can barely hear so she will invade your personal space if you ask questions. Overall not bad but you have to study. No takking isnt needed as she gives you studyguide

I learned a lot from her class and I loved her humor. This class requires you to actually work, but it is rewarding and I would definitely take her again if I could! If you put in the time to study the lecture notes she provides and take notes on the PowerPoints, you will pass with flying colors.

Extremely knowledgeable and thorough with her lectures. I was engaged and fascinated with every course we did. She didn't bombard us with tons of unnecessary extra work just to waste our time. She gives no actual work at all and instead gives a study guide she reviews in class daily based on the topic you are on. Grades are completely based on your test scores which she often gives cheat sheets for which cover at least half of the tests. Her lectures are great and solidify information in my memory well. Overall she's a great teacher.

Take her in class if you have to take any art history courses, unlike the online version it has no homework/writing. The test are pretty easy just some basic questions, she tells you she isn't going to trick you on the tests, listen to her! The only thing is she wants people to ask questions but gets mad if she thinks they are dumb questions.
