You get the option of writing a 2 pg. min. paper on almost every book you discuss, or you take the midtermfinal. The papers are the better option, but they're hell if he doesn't like them. Doesn't give clear feedback. Also expects far more than the page requirement rather than raising the page number. Didn't read any books, still got a B.

He teaches directly from the textbook. Admittedly he announces quizzes, but judges you solely on your ability to recite what is said in his lecture and notes. Very condescending and treats all students as if they are high school kids. Very condescending and addresses retorts as challenges to his own irrelevant doctorate.

DON'T TAKE HIM. Too many essays. Limnatis gave like 9-10 essays in the semester. If an essay has a limit of 750 words, you will have to write at least 6 pages in order to get an A. He will only give you a week to write your essays. If you put the insane amount of effort in the class you should be able to get an A. Also you have to read to pass

very tough professor, assigns tons of papers with very little time to write them. Regardless of your circumstances he is highly strict with his deadlines, 1 min late doesn't count. This, in addition to the fact that he teaches a freshman first semester course like this makes him an overall bad professor in my opinion. What others have said is true.

This was the worst class I've ever taken. It was not because of the difficulty of the material. This professor's demeanor was extremely unprofessional. The class was run like a ninth grade high school class. His behavior towards the students was extremely unprofessional, demeaning at times and oppressively tyrannical. Material not covered.

Out of all my teachers and professors, this is the worst I have ever encountered. He doesn't explain everything in detail and expects you to write professional essays almost weekly. If you do not like writing nor good at it, save yourself and do not take him for this class. Absolutely horrible

Taught straight from the textbook. Very lecture heavy, I don't recall a single day where there was more than a couple minutes of class discussion.

His grading policy and pop quizzes were very inconsistent with what was taught in class. He gives readings for every class that consist of dozens of pages each, most of which do not make sense. He doesn't discuss the readings in class, he just expects you to know it. He also doesn't understand personal matters that happen outside of class.

Please don't do it. Quiz every other class was very inconsistent because we only focused on each chapter in one day, and all he did was talk about anything off-topic. No computers are allowed for notes, and if it looks like you're not engaged, he will try to embarrass you. He makes you earn your grade, and his grading system is very inconsistent.

He doesn't allow computers in class. His grading policy was very unclear and didn't fairly represent us as students. Not to mention, be prepared to read at least a chapter a night, discuss it in one day, and then be quizzed on it the following class. Remember to participate and ask questions if you don't understand anything.

Just a very tough class. He treats this class like it's our major, so he's very strict about deadlines. There's always a looming pop quiz, which my class had once a week, but he likes questions and participation. Only a few papers, no exams, but you HAVE to do well on the papers to do well in the class. Don't use AI cuz he will know if you use it.

Dr. Limnatis is undoubtedly knowledgeable about the subject. However, he teaches the subject like it's the only class we have, even if we have other classes. Assigns a few papers, which make up the majority of your grade. Grade goes down if you're not present. Can't miss more than 3 classes or you will fail.

While he is undoubtedly knowledgeable, he has very strict policies on cheating, attendance, and participation. Can't miss more than 3 classes for any reason, so if you miss one class, your grade is already in danger. Participation is also mandatory if you want a good grade. Make sure to speak every class.

He doesn't care about your life outside of class and will continue to pile on readings and expect you to know every single aspect of it, as if we're robots. Doesn't have a clear grading system, and is totally paranoid when it comes to cheating. Constantly accuses students of plagiarism, even if their work is completely original.

He's such a tough professor when it comes to reading and participation. The classes are incredibly fast paced, and he typically is unclear about concepts discussed in the chapters. He's also a stickler for cheating. He will know if you use ChatGPT, so don't even try.

he runs class like a 1950's elementary school. i don't know how he has any good reviews whatsoever, anyone ive ever talked to has absolutely hated him. He treats this class like this is the only class you have, and expects you to read 2-3 hours per night. he also insisted that I cheated on my midterm (I didn't)

During the semester, it was hard to understand what he wanted from us as students. He would constantly penalize students and stop the class over the smallest things. The classes are super fast paced and he makes you read a ton before each class. Oh, and if you have personal matters outside of class, he will not care.

The professor has been nothing but disrespectful and super entitled during the entire semester. He will not only penalize students over the smallest things, but also treat the class like it's the only class you're taking. He even told me the only thing I proved during the semester was that I could've done better. Will never take him again.

During lectures, Dr. Limnatis would make rude remarks towards students who had things happening outside of class, disrupt the lectures to rant about strange and unrelated topics, then discuss his personal life, and gave us an unfair grading system. Also tends to ignore emails, especially on weekends/holidays.

The professor said to me that “the only thing you proved to me was that you could do better.” This is supposed to be an intro level course and he expects students (especially non-phi students) to have a deep understanding of each chapter. Almost impossible to reach via email. He wants you to prioritize his class over the rest of your life. Any personal matters, etc. you have going on doesn't matter to him. His demeanor was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Doesn't know how to teach a COLLEGE LEVEL COURSE. Accusations of plagiarism were also made so watch out.

He is so unnecessarily harsh for an intro level course and expects you to prioritize his class as if it's the only one you have to take. Attendance AND participation are VERY mandatory. If you miss one class, there isn't much opportunity to recover. The rumors about cheating accusations are also true. He will put a lot of stress on you.

Dr. Linnaeus is undoubtedly knowledgeable, but acts as if his class is the only class you're taking, so be prepared for hours of reading and occasional pop quizzes. He did not have a fair grading policy and had no clear structure to any of his lectures and when I discussed my issues with him, he was only disrespectful and extremely condescending towards me. This was only an intro level course and Limnatis expects you to know A LOT that was never covered in class or the readings. He was particularly disrespectful towards students who were struggling, lectures were incredibly fast paced and difficult to understand, and pop quizzes were almost impossible to complete. NOTE: No Technology During Class.

Everything happening in this world is holding you back from you success in the class.” He wants you to make his class the only thing you have happening in your life, and he will penalize you if he THINKS you show a negative attitude towards him or his class. He's one of those professors who thinks his class is the only thing you'll ever need to succeed in life. You ABSOLUTELY have to do the readings before class, attend class regularly, participate, and take notes or you will be lost. For the papers, word count and quality BOTH matter. Be prepared to spend 12+ hours per paper he assigns.

Took back in 2021 at NCC. I'm thankful to have gotten the grade I really earned after having to fight him on it. Asks to speak with students if your effort isn't up to his “standards” and is absolutely disrespectful and entitled about it. He was concerned with my effort but didn't care about the matters I had going on outside of class. DNT.

He's the type of professor who enjoys filling students lives with unnecessary stress. It doesn't matter if you or a relative is dying, as he will make you put his class before anything else. If you make one simple mistake, you may not pass, and even if you're passionate about the subject, it won't get you a high grade.

There's many other professors out there that can do better than Dr. Limnatis. He feels the need to put students on the verge of failing his class for absolutely nothing just to get students to be passionate about the subject. It's truly sad to see how he finds humor in abusing his power. Should just be fired and stop tormenting students.

I struggled so much in the semester I had with him and when approached with issues from students, no changes were made. When I spoke to him, he treated me with nothing but disrespect and told me I needed to start learning the material to pass, yet he wouldn't work with me. Oh, and if the whole class is failing, he won't curve the class.

I honestly have no idea what he is teaching or how he's even allowed to teach. He's incredibly condescending and disrespectful towards other students and takes pride in doing so. He will also lower (and possibly fail) students over the most ridiculous things, per his syllabus. There's other professors more deserving of my time and effort.

He's the type of professor who acts like the world revolves entirely around him. He runs the discussions for the entire class period. He will silence students for simply expressing their opinions. If you were sick or dying in class, he probably wouldn't allow you to go to the hospital. The only way to pass his class is to NOT make ANY mistakes.

All I'm gonna say is the ONLY way you can actually do well in his class is to NOT make ANY mistakes, even small ones. Even if you are passionate about philosophy or if you are working hard, you may not pass.

I will say that he is into what he teaches, but doesn't seem to be approachable for assistance. You ABSOLUTELY have to take notes on the readings and study every night in case of a pop quiz. They weren't easy and were based on small details that were barely ever touched on during class and if you don't understand the chapters, you will not pass.

You will read almost 40 pages worth of reading before each class and spend hours writing papers based on the chapters. The professor has treated his students with nothing but arrogance and disrespect. He thinks that by doing this, he'll motivate you to want to work harder. If I had the choice, I should've taken somebody else.

Please only take this class if you want to feel like you're in jail. He will fail you literally over nothing. He's nothing more than a miserable old man who can't see his own downfalls and takes out his frustrations on his students. You will have readings and pop quizzes piled on as if your life depends on it. If you aren't up to his ‘high expectations' get ready for your grade to be in literal jeopardy.

He thinks that by doing this, it will teach you to be a better human being. He once told a student he was “upset that he failed the quiz, and will also fail the class.”

POP quizzes every other class. Takes pride in humiliating students for doing nothing wrong. Blatantly stated that he uses 5 AI detectors when you turn in assignments. Your lives outside of class don't matter to him either. If you are late or miss a class, he will give you such a tough time about it, even if it's for a valid reason.

This class is everything BUT philosophy. If you want to (1) be lectured by a narciasistic and arrogant luncatic of a human being who talks about anything other than philosophy, (2) want to be taught by someone who finds pleasure in students struggling, or (3) are okay with begging him for mercy and having no life outside of class, this is for you.

Very passive aggressive and rude towards students in the first half of the semester. States almost every class that he will fail you if you act or speak out against him, gives pop quizzes that are impossible to complete, and makes it obvious thst he doesn't care for students well-being. This man doesn't even know how to teach at ANY level.

When you enter his class for the first time, you're automatically failing. He expects ungodly amounts of effort out of students and he doesn't care if you have other things going on in your life. If he THINKS the class isn't trying, he'll do everything in his power to fail the entire class. Very slim chances of succeeding in this class.

You have better chances of passing any other class. He has a punishment style grading system, which does not accurately represent student effort. If you get on his bad side, good luck. He'll give you an extremely tough time about it. He's very aggressive and always throws a tantrum if you aren't meeting his expectations.

He's a bully, not a professor. He belittles and makes rude remarks towards students, but disguises it as sarcasm. Very strict on syllabus requirements and will throw a tantrum if you're struggling because to him, struggling means “you're not listening.” His words, not mine. Very slim chances of passing, and if you mess up once, you are kinda stuck.

Beware that his class will be quite a chore. He doesn't care if anything happens to you. It's very saddening and disappointing to witness how he calls out and embarrasses students for “not” trying. Why is the entire class about his beliefs rather than what philosophy is in general? Most evil professor on this planet.

If you don't want tons of pop quizzes and hours of reading, don't take this class. He also takes cheating VERY seriously and will go above and beyond to catch people who are cheating. NGL, he is very strict about his class expectations, and if he THINKS you aren't trying, you might not pass, and even if you do work hard, you still might not pass.

Very aggressive towards students. Makes students feel stupid for asking questions. Grading is completely unfair. Does not care if something bad happens to you. Avoid him if you can.

Worst professor in the history of mankind. Lectures and grades make zero sense, he fights with and embarrasses students one-on-one, and doesn't allow students to reach their full potential. Your grade comes down to papers, pop quizzes, and attendance/participation. If you do bad in one category, he will give you an extremely tough time about it.

From 2020. If you want to feel mentally stable, please stay away from this man because I guarantee he'll ruin your mental health. He'll embarrass and call you out for fun, belittle students, and overwhelm you with coursework. He doesn't want anyone trying to tell him how to do his job, when we really want to be taught and are trying to help him.

Never in my entire life have I hated a professor nor a class more than this. I hope one day he sees this and understands the world isn't all about him. Students should not have to be forced to sit in class and be treated like babies and possibly failed for nothing. I hope one day he realizes how much pain and trauma he's inflicted on his students.

This professor has his own set of beliefs (speak out and he'll fail you) and refuses to adjust to accommodate his students. He's a very rude person who humiliates students for fun and has nothing better to do. Anything happening outside of class does NOT matter to him. If there was an emergency on campus, he would probably make us stay in class.

He will embarrass students for fun, throw a tantrum and fight with students, and turn away student input to make himself feel powerful. He seems to find pleasure within himself in having the power to fail the entire class. Don't take if you need a high grade.

This was one of the most frustrating classes I've taken. The professor is disorganized, unclear in lectures, and never starts on time. Grading was inconsistent and unfair. Instead of helping students learn, the class became a nightmare really quickly. Also, he's very quick to anger, especially if you fall behind or don't understand something.

This professor was not effective at all. He invested minimal effort to engage or support students. Grading felt random, and you could be HEAVILY penalized for one simple mistake. Just a very rude person who embarrasses students for fun. He made the quizzes based on the TINIEST details of the textbook and you won't pass without doing the readings.

This professor is extremely condescending and talks down to students constantly. Creates an intimidating environment where asking questions or sharing different perspectives is discouraged. Freedom of expression is quickly shut down, often with sarcasm or belittling comments. If you care about learning in a safe environment, take someone else.

Really sad professor. Be prepared for constant pop quizzes every other class — with material that was barely, if ever, covered. The professor seems to believe students are out to “bring him down” and acts accordingly. If he thinks you're not on his side, he'll start calling you out in class. Definitely not worth the stress.

NGL, the class overall was far from easy. Be prepared for pop quizzes given every other class with very little time to complete them. He asks questions on multiple chapters of the textbook and on minor concepts that we barely talked about and if you don't have a good understanding of the chapters, you will not pass. Don't expect to do well.

He needs to understand that (1.) Tenure does NOT allow you to speak down to and embarrass students for fun. (2.) Just because you're passionate about the subject you teach doesn't mean everyone has to make it their number one priority. (3.) Respecting your students and their needs is more important than learning the material.

Very rude and arrogant. Accused students of being lazy and often singled people out to embarrass them in class. Gave constant pop quizzes, and even when the whole class did poorly, he made no adjustments. If you struggled, he made it nearly impossible to recover, so I strongly recommend you to avoid if you're trying to do well.

Ran a very unprofessional learning environment and forced rather than encouraged growth. NGL, the readings were long and you need to prove you understood EVERY small aspect and if you don't do the readings, you will not pass.

He's rude and will blame students by throwing a tantrum and telling you you're not doing your job. He thinks him being passionate about the subject makes him smarter than everybody else. The worst professor in this entire universe. Will embarrass you for fun, blame you for every minor wrongdoing, and accuse you wrongfully of cheating. He will do anything to advance the possibility of failing the entire class. Your mental health doesn't matter to him. If you needed to be hospitalized, he'd probably want you in class that same day.

When someone makes a mistake, he reacts in a way that feels immature and unprofessional. Avoid if you can!

Get ready to try to teach yourself what the class is about because he's very disorganized and unaccommodating. If you need this class, just take someone else.

Very tough professor. I definitely don't recommend, especially if you're looking to get credit for the class. He's very mean and aggressive. Takes no accountability for his actions. Unclear lectures.
