The class itself is very difficult to teach and she really tries to make sure everybody is understanding the material. There are no tricks on the tests, what you cover on the board is whats on the test. It can be frustrating at times how students are clearly incorrect, but she has them talk out the problem through the end, so students get confused.
She never really taught in the class, she would always have other students teach the class. With this she would never really correct them until they finished explaining and at that point the whole class would be confused on what the actual solution was. At that point she would ask the class if it made sense and then she would not help explain it.
she is a very sweet person and tries really hard to make us understand the material that is clearly difficult. she is very helpful as well. I would take her class again.
This class is a hard class, but Dr.B is more than willing to help, you just have to ask. She wants you to do well. Sometimes she seems flustered, but she really believes in her students and wants them to do well.
She cares about her students. You have to ask her for help since she will not reach out to you. She allows students to teach the class sometimes by explaining how they got a solution, even if it's wrong. She won't say its wrong until you are done explaining, which confuses everyone. The class and her teaching methods are very annoying.
Bajwa should not be a college prof. She's a sweet lady & cares for her students but her teaching methods don't work. The class isn't too bad as long as you actually try & do your work you'll be fine. Barely used the manipulatives & DO NOT buy the book!!! U basically teach urself bc she assigns HW & you dont learn how to do it until the next class
Dr. Bajwa encourages you to share your reasoning even if you are incorrect, without making you feel stupid. She doesn't give an answer directly but if you show her your work she spends a lot of time in helping you reflect on your steps and figure out what you did wrong and then helps you get to the correct answer. Truly patient and great prof.!
Dr Bajwa is easily one of the most condescending people I've ever come across. She expects you to be available to meet with her outside of class whenever suits her liking and does a very poor job of communicating assignments. Sad to say not much learning has occurred as a result of taking MAT 201 with her.
Dr Bajwa is kind and cares about her students, but I do not recommend for MAT201. She tends to teach backwards by issuing pop quizzes on readings before formally teaching the material and did not prepare the class properly for teaching clinicals. She is flexible with meeting outside class but it was still very difficult to feel prepared.
This class is insane. By far the worst professor I have ever had. She is super confusing, super hard to understand, and she doesn't even clarify if you're confused. The class is a nightmare. I put more than double the amount of effort into this class as any of my others (and I have hard major classes) and I tanked it. Heed this warning. I didn't.
This is the most difficult class I have ever had to take. Professor Bajwa cares about her students but it seemed like whatever I did was never enough for her. Good luck to anyone taking this course, you'll need it.
The class is difficult but Dr. Bajwa tries to help in every way she can. I found her very helpful and approachable
Believe it or not I actually loved this class. Instructor was extremely helpful. It's definitely challenging material, but she did her best in providing support where it was needed. I personally loved her teaching style and methods. Legit one of my favorite professors so far.
This teacher grades TOUGH. She will really read through your work though and pin-point places were you can better yourself and your reasoning, so her feedback is usually pretty solid. You have to read. A lot. And often. There are projects that made me cry, but I they are not impossible. Just a LOT of work... You will learn though, I promise u that
Dr. Bajwa cares a lot about her students. MAT130 can be difficult at first, but if you put the effort into it, you can succeed in the class. She is extremely helpful during office hours, so definitely go if you are struggling. I would 100% take a class taught by her again.
I definitely would not take Dr. Bajwa again. She was so hard with grading for no reason at all. Make sure you study HARD for your computational fluency test in the beginning of the semester, it will ruin you if you don't do well. If you have her, just make sure you're always on top of your work and actively participate in class.
She is awesome! The first test and quiz I failed, but after those two I got 95% or higher on everything else. She is so caring!! She wants you to do well. Do not drop this class! It is hard at first, but make it pasted the drop deadline and she made quizzes take home, dropped bad scores and gave tons of extra credit. FAVORITE PROFESSOR AT ISU!!!
DO NOT DROP THIS CLASS!! Intimidating at first, but she dropped our bad scores, gave tons of extra credit and made all the quizzes take home. She wants her students to do well and she is available outside of class and holds a bunch of review sessions! THEY ARE SO HELPFUL!! BAJWA IS THE BEST!!! TAKE HER SHE CARES SO MUCH FOR HER STUDENTS!!!
I would take any class with this professor! She is so amazing and wants everyone to do well. The fir few weeks of the class are hard because you have to get the hang of it because it is a very different class then you have ever taken before. I promise you that. She drops bad scores, gives extra credit so your scores for the beginning don't matter!
Great professor! Work hard you will pass.
I don't even know what to say she is so amazing! Just do the work even if it is not mandatory because she takes questions straight from your two packets and puts them word for word on tests and quizzes. Do the packets even when not assigned.
Dr. Bajwa was an amazing professor. Her class was tough, but if you put in work you will receive a good grade. She offers a decent amount of extra credit. She is always willing and excited to help her students. I respect Dr. Bajwa both as a professor and a person. I would 100% take this class with her as the teacher. She is truly the best!
If you give 110% in this class you will succeed. Dr. Bajwa is a good professor. She wants to see her students succeed. She is always willing to help you and take time out of her schedule to do it. She does offer extra credit. If your not lazy and put in the work you will be successful. 11.5/10 recommend taking this class with Dr. Bajwa.
The class is tough but manageable. Dr. Bawja makes this class worth it. I definitely learned a lot from her. She is a great professor. Take this class with her, you won't regret it. Just put in the work and try your best and you will be successful.
Worst professor I've ever had. She acts like she cares when you're failing and tries to help but she doesn't do anything to keep you from failing. Homework was for less than five points. I put in all the effort I could & barley passed. Spent HOURS on 2 hw questions. Also she has a literal script she will tell you if you start crying in her office..
BEST PROFESSOR AT ISU!!! If you dont work hard you want pass, just do the work and you will do well! Go to her study sessions!! Shes the sweetest!!
Awesome! If she is available to take a class with take it.
Dr. Bajwa will make you work for your grade! She is a VERY tough grader, explains well but make sure you understand what she is saying because if you just nod and say yes, your test scores will show you didn't know. Go to SI sessions or at least tutoring and office hours. Try your hardest on everything except the homework (she only gives 3 pts)
Honestly the worst teacher I've ever had. Don't believe the good reviews. Confusing and she acts as if she's helpful and she's not.
Ignore the bad reviews! Those are the students who dropped the class. If you stay in her class pass the drop day for classes, she drops the beginning scores and gives A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT! Just stick it out and your grade will work it-self out. She is so sweet if you work hard. Meet with her individually and you WILL PASS THIS CLASS.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! She wants to help all of her students succeed, but you need to WANT TO SUCCEED. If you joke around and don't do your work you WILL NOT pass, but if you do your work and meet with her with questions you can easily get a good grade. I had a D at midterms and got it up to an A because I met with her and she helped.
Do not be scared in the beginning. This class is hard to start, but your grade will adjust as the semester goes on. Plenty of grades dropped at the end of the semester and extra credit if you make it passed the deadline for dropping classes. She is caring and wants you to do well if you work hard she will round. Work hard and earn your grade.
THIS IS SO TRUE! The first test and quiz I failed, but after those two I got 95% or higher on everything else. She is so caring!! She wants you to do well. Do not drop this class! It is hard at first, but make it pasted the drop deadline and she made quizzes take home, dropped bad scores, and gave tons of extra credit. FAVORITE PROFESSOR AT ISU!!!
All my friends are rating her because we loved her SOOOOO MUCH! The bad reviews on here are students who wanted a blow-off class. She is always available outside of class and IS SO HELPFUL! Quizzes are take-home the second half of the semester and so much EXTRA CREDIT AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT DROP! Hang in there you will love her.
This class is randomly selected teachers so you can not pick. DO NOT DROP! After the drop date, the class gets so much easier and everything clicks. Your grade will fix itself, do not worry about your grade in the beginning because this class it hard, but once you get the hang of it you will do fine. She's helpful, caring, and WANTS YOU TO DO WELL.
Hard class, but no better professor then her. TAKE THIS COURSE WITH DR.B!
AWESOME PROFESSOR!
great professor wants her students to succeed
Such a sweet lady, who really loves math. Encourages students and pushes them to do their best. This is a hard course, but manageable if you participate in class and do your assigned and optional work. Do all of the work provided to you, she pulls questions from optional hw and puts them on quizzes word for word.
This class is hard, but if you have this professor you are blessed. There is no one better.
Hard, hard, and hard. That is just the class, not the professor. You will LEARN MORE in this class than you will in any other course you take. You can get an A if you work hard.
This class was probably the hardest I've ever taken in my life. I've taken it once before, and her class didn't make it any easier to get a good grade. She took points off for EVERYTHING, and participation does matter A LOT.
The class is very hard. Dr. Bajwa will do anything to help you. She gives extra credit. She is such a sweet lady. If you need help, go see her. She is Great at teaching such a difficult subject.
Hi Professor most of your ratings are coming on same date and from same system. Honesty and fairness is the most important feature in education.
She will definitely make you work for your grade and she will start out by being harsh, but if you push yourself and show her that then she will see that and it will be a huge benefit to your grade. The more you participate in her class the better. She did give a few extra credit opportunities towards the end of the semester.
Dr. Bajwa was a great professor but she will make you work for your grade. She is very willing to help in any way possible. You have to participate in class to pass. She will definitely push you for this course but overall she is a very caring person. Office hours were a huge help in this course. Utilize all your resources for this course.
I took this class online because I had to. I am already not great at math but this teacher made it so much harder. Not only was she rude, when you would go to her for help she just seemed to put you down. I had to withdrawal from the class so that it would not affect my GPA. I need to pass this class for my major and wish the teacher guided us more
I took this class right as covid began and it was terrible online or in person. I went to tutoring twice a week, office hours once a week, and emailed her on multiple occasions (most I did not get a response) and I still failed this class. Truly the worst class I have ever taken and the worst teacher. I 100% do not recommend this teacher. Get out!
She is the worst professor/teacher I have ever had. To give you some background, I had a 3.8 gpa before this class. I went to every SI session and office hours. She is not nice and she does not teach well. She marked me off on a test because we hadnt talked about a concept that I put down yet. My SI went over it before the test and it was correct.
Awful class, I struggled even though I went to every tutoring session and studied.
If you are looking to take MAT130 don't take it with this professor. Very hard class and struggled I literally went to every session but yet my grade dropped.
She kept telling me my F grade would go up. I studied and tried my hardest to do well in the class. She was more confusing then helpful, and sometimes talked about math concepts way too fast. Never taking this class with her again!!!
Ending up dropping, this is the hardest class I took in my life she made it harder.
The class can be challenging but Dr. Bajwa does her best to keep all students engaged and provide the most opportunities for success and learning. If you try hard and give her your best effort, you will receive the most out of the class.
I had to drop this class. I put all my effort into this class and made sure to study the material. Even though I studied and went to every single SI session, I would still get points off for everything. Very picky when it came to grading and it was difficult to find out what she wanted. I had to drop this class.
She made this hard class even harder. She was not helpful and would take off points for everything.
She literally was the worst teacher I have ever had. She laughs in your face if you get a problem wrong and no matter how much you show up, go to review sessions, and do all the extra stuff, i promise you will go in your bed crying that night. This class made me change my major because she made me never want to take it again. 100000/10 dont take.
If you take this class with Dr. Bajwa, be ready to work for your grade. Homework assigned after every class period, and participation matters. She will call on you even if you don't know what you are doing. The tests and quizzes are very hard and if you don't write exactly what she wants, she will mark you off for it. She often changes her grading.
Literally the harshest grader youll ever meet as well as expecting you to know material when its never been taught. I cried so many times in 2 weeks. NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
The worst class Ive ever taken here. She gives out assignments and tests on things we dont know and arent taught in class. Definitely cried over this class at least 2 times a week. If you have to take this class I would not recommend this professor. She is a very hard grader and is very picky on her grading. Most of our class is failing.
Drop this class with her and take it with someone else. She is very nit picky and she is unclear when it comes to what she wants in the class. This class is the hardest class I have ever taken and I ended up dropping and Im taking it this semester with someone else and its much easier.
VERY TOUGH GRADER. She expected me to be available with her at all times if I wanted to meet with her. She not helpful and can can be very confusing.
She was so bad I wanna give her a 0. But thats not possible so I give her a 1.
She makes you write and think - asks you "why" you took a particular step. She also gives tons of feedback that I personally found soo helpful! I hated writing at beginning of the semester but hv actually started liking it. She is a tough grader but I improved from a C to B. If you want to learn about math - take her. You won't regret it!
I took MAT 130 twice and I am so thankful that I ended up with Dr. Bajwa as the teacher the second time I took it. Wish I had her the first time! I do not understand all the negative comments! You have to be willing to participate and she gives you SO many opportunities to succeed. Math has always been difficult for me but I LOVED it in her class.
She can be a little difficult to get the hang of, but honestly she has made me understand math more than I ever have. I feel confident in my abilities to teach math because of her. She can be pretty funny during class. She is for sure an acquired taste. You have to be willing to work hard and be prepared to ask a lot of questions! Get ready to E+J!
You will need to explain and justify everything you do, which is the basis of the class. However, you could write the same response for two of the same questions, and get a 100% and a 0% depending on how much she likes you or any other unknown factor. She is very kind and towards the end, I even liked her, but this class was absolutely miserable.
I absolutely loved having her as my professor! She was amazing and really cared about her students. I am not someone to go out of their way to submit something like this, but she was just that great. I would take another class of hers in a heartbeat! Best professor I have ever had hands down!
This course was difficult but I think if I didn't have Doctor Bajwa, it would have been much more difficult. She is so kind and truly cares about math. Just make sure you put in the work and go to her office hours and you will be fine!
Dr. Bajwa showed true interest in having her students do well. She was always super sweet and encouraging. It definitely is quite a difficult class, but I definitely think the content is necessary to know if you are going down the teaching route. Make sure to pay attention and participate and you should be fine!
Dr. Bajwa is a great professor and wants you to learn. It will definitely be a challenging course but as long as you show her you want to learn, put in effort, and do all the work, it will all pay off. Do not be scared by a lot of the comments and ratings, the class is do-able and she is a good professor despite being a little harsh.
Over all, I did really like her as a teacher. She was very understanding and even gave us the opportunity to retake a test and gave a huge extra credit assignment. The homework was mainly completion. However, if you gave her an attitude or didn't participate in class that would reflect your grade.
I took this class as a requirement for my major and I would do anything to be able to take it with a different professor. Lesson plans were graded insanely hard, as if we are expected to be writing perfect lesson plans. Gets mad when you have to miss class, even if it's for an illness. Long readings for every single class, at least 20 pages each.
Dr. Bajwa is certainly intense, but it's honestly needed for this course. She will push you to use critical thinking skills and teach you all the necessary tools to succeed in the class. She is also generally very caring and compassionate. Contrary to what some may think, she actually wants you to do well. It's just a very hard class.
Professor Bajwa is an amazing professor, she actually cares and wants you to succeed. Even though her grading may be tough, read her feedback and use it to help you on future tests/quizzes. If you take good notes and complete all assignments you will do well!
She is a tough grader. You learn a lot, which is necessary to support your future students. She expects you to put 110% of your effort into the class and offers office hours/SI sessions to support you. Attendance is required and you are graded on participation. Be ready to present your ideas in front of the class, even if they are wrong.
Dr. Bajwa genuinely wants her students to succeed. She helped my class get our grades up by giving us take-home quizzes and some make-ups. Her feedback on quizzes were very informative. I felt she was very strict, expected a lot out of us, and came across as unwelcoming at times. If you don't want to do office hours, go to SI sessions if you can!
Professor Bajwa is an amazing person and is very caring towards her students. She is a very tough grader but this is one of the few classes I have taken where I have come out of it very knowledgable on the subject. Participation is a VERY important part of your grade. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you will do fine.
Dr. Bajwa was a very good professor. The class was pretty hard, but she was ALWAYS available if you needed extra help. There was 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final throughout the semester. 30 mins for quizzes, 1 hour for tests, 2 hour for final. It can be hard to manage your time during quizzes/tests because almost everything is handwritten.
This class was a real roller coaster for me. I learned a lot however and love prof Bajwa. Participation is very important. Writing and how you explain and justify is 99% of the class and she is a tough grader for that. Homework is completion but worth little. Office hours are ESSENTIAL! I felt more comfortable after talking to her one on one often
Dr. Bajwa cares about her students and makes sure they can meet outside of class if needed. I didn't struggle in her class or grading style, but I also tend to overwrite, which helped me. Class won't ever get canceled and you should be going to everyone to understand the content for the tests.
She's difficult but the nature of the course is reframing how you think about & solve math problems which is hard to adjust to. You need the textbook & manipulatives, order them early. Go to office hours, they're helpful. I'm not good at math but I ended the class with a high B and I started with an F, she's a great teacher, pushes you to do better
Dr Bajwa cares a lot about all of her students. She is a tough grader, but she is always willing to meet on her own time to go over work or questions. She challenges students in class discussions, because she wants everyone to succeed as educators. Participation and attendance matters but I feel it is reason able for an education course.
Doctor Bajwa is great! I highly recommend taking MAT 130 with her. I was dreading this class, but she made it easy to understand what was going on. She genuinely wants you to succeed and will help you whenever she can. She's let us retake multiple quizzes and uses class time to make sure we understand what we are currently going over!
This professor offers appointments, office hours and SI sessions for extra help. She expects you to spend a lot of time on this class, which was hard with a heavy schedule. She also does take home quizzes, which was frustrating for me. Instead of using class time, I had to spend time outside of class doing a quiz. She also goes over class time.
MAT130 is hard regardless. Bajwa does take this time to explain and elaborate on topics when needed but is very nit-picky about hw responds. She made all quizzes and test toward the end of the semester. We had one every week in April. She does sometimes let us take home quizzes and offers retakes. But from what I heard there are better professors.
This class in general is hard but Bajwa is really good at her job. Tons of homework and participation required to make sure you understand. She wants you to spend lots of time outside class working on math which is hard to keep up with but as long as you participate and submit everything (even if it's not your best work) she'll give you credit
MAT130 is a difficult course regardless of who you choose to take it with, but Dr. Bajwa definitely made the class much harder than it needed to be. Expect to spend easily several hours a week on the homework she assigns. She does have genuine interest in each student's success though, and is generally pretty available outside of class to help.
I came back to write a review on how bad this professor is. My experience was awful. She would critique your work, then when you would fix it, she would find a different problem or tell you it still wasn't right. I went to SI sessions and office hours. I cried to her trying to understand what I was doing wrong and she showed no remorse. 0/10!
I loved Dr. Bajwa! She made me think about math, not just "solve" it. It was my second time taking this course and I liked her style. Get ready to write which was not my favorite, but her feedback was so helpful! Read the feedback. I didn't at first but once I did, I improved and ended with a B. Some students were always late and it was annoying.
Professor Bajwa is the best math prof I've had! She truly cares for you to learn and improve. She allowed making mistakes and we discussed them with a focus on the why. I did not find her hard but she does read every word, so write clearly. Don't miss class and take notes! The daily homework kept me on track and her feedback was super helpful.
Save yourself and avoid at all cost. Worst professor ever. Don't trust all good reviews as she's written all of them.
