New professor. Terrible at explaining concepts and will never explain things clearly. Assignments are okay and midterm was fair. I'm avoiding her for future classes.
Professor Negar is excellent. Her lecture slides are easy to navigate, and her explanations are clear. She is always happy to answer every question in class and usually replies to emails the same day. She even immediately responded to my emails late in the evening. She supports her students. My advice is, take notes, practice, and ask for feedback.
Very nice, helpful and caring. Good marker. Just study.
Really helpful when you ask questions, and fair marker, it's just a tough class in general
Negar is a great prof overall as she takes time to explain each concept thoroughly. The midterms and assignments were fair as most of the questions were similar to her lecture slides. There also wasn't much work outside of class other than 3 assignments for the whole semester. Decent prof if you can easily grasp statistics concepts.
Honestly, statistics is a difficult course but in my humble opinion, I think She did a really good job explaining the material and simplifying the concepts. She is very thorough and did tons of practice questions and goes through everything step-by-step. If you read the lecture slides and review the recorded lectures, then you should be fine.
Not worth it at all. She makes a lot of mistakes while explaining her material in class. The explanation is poorly delivered. The course itself is challenging but the professor's job is to make it easy which Negar just cannot. She hosted online classes on the hardest chapters, definitely not considerate of students learning and money spent. AVOID
Please do not take this class with Negar. It's one of the important classes for econ and stats students and concepts built in bus232 will be helpful later. Her classes are boring and confusing. You will waste time going to class and most students leave class halfway thru since she just can't explain. She is a good person, just not a good teacher.
Horrible slides that looked like they were made decades ago, unclear and makes you confused. She is not good at explaining material and just reads off of the slides. her presentations are dry and have unclear explanations that just states facts like a highschooler. She is a good person but I can tell she lacks effort in her teachings and her slides
Terrible teaching style, she was really bad at explaining concepts, which was especially bad for a statistics course. She also consistently made mistakes when solving practice examples in class which caused even more confusion for students. Her lecture slides were even worse as they were either full of mistakes or made zero sense.
Her in-person lectures are so boring and hard to follow along, especially as the first stats class for business students. Her slides are confusing and you can't follow along with what she is actually teaching. Slides, example questions, and homework have errors all over and she doesn't realize making it hard for students to follow along.
Really nice and fair. Nothing surprising for the exam questions or the assignments. Explanations during lectures may sometimes be confusing but there is a lot of material to cover so she goes by them quickly to make time. Accessible outside class and good at answering questions 1-on-1.
She is a good person but her ability to teach is very poor. Her explanations made no sense and her slides/homework solutions were full of mistakes making it very difficult to study. The assignments were application problems in excel however none of her lectures connected to excel. Avoid her if you can.
Negar's lectures are incredibly hard to bear through as her accent makes it hard to understand what she is teaching. I advise to just read the textbook and master the content yourself instead as that is what worked for me. I went to only one or two lectures over the course of the semester. Just do practice problems and you will do well on the tests
Negar is a nice person who seems to genuinely care for her students, but her explanations and lectures were dry and ineffective. Slides sometimes had incorrect information, and assignment instruction sheets were vague, missing necessary information to answer questions. Pay attention in class, use YouTube, and do the practice questions.
Negar has the potential to be a really good prof. She explains the concepts clearly, however, she does so blandly. In lecture, it was hard to pay attention due to the amount of seemingly repetitive problems. She does provide a good amount of material to study, but some of the solutions could have more detail to them.
Her lectures were straightforward and she was clear when explaining concepts but some concepts could've been explained in more detail. Group assignments were a little confusing but exams were very fair based on what you learn in class.
Lectures were quite boring, but it's stats which makes it hard to blame that on her. She is a very genuine person and wants her students to succeed. Group assignemnts frequently needed further explanation, but midterm and final was quite fair and representative of the course.
Negar was a pretty good lecturer, especially given it was her first time teaching BUS336. The exams are pretty straightforward and closely related to lectures. During lectures, you will do a lot of Excel/Tableau, which is really useful but isn't tested. Assignments are done in groups but can be a bit vague and challenging, so ask THE PROF questions
The professor doesn't know how to teach at all and doesn't even know the course material itself. She rushes through the stuff without teaching a single thing properly. When someone asks any valid question regarding the course, most of the time she just answers with "I don't know" and moves on, without providing any clarification.
She kind of struggles clearly explaining concepts in class but the exams are really fair.
Read the textbook and make sure you understand the problems she gives in class because the exam questions are very similar. She will tell you what you need to know if you ask, and is very upfront about what you need to do. She is always open to questions and if you demonstrate you want to learn, she will try her hardest to help you succeed.
Good prof. Responds quickly to emails and is helpful when help is needed.
Most boring lectures of all time. Cannot understand half the words she says. Assignment are marked based on extremely vague criteria and assignment questions are worded extremely vague and in broken English.
Awful in every category. Would highly NOT recommend
I had Negar for both Bus232 and Bus336, in both classes she was very professional and organized. It's clear she cares about her students, and is extremely helpful after class or by email. Her lecture slide and in-class examples are super helpful for midterm/ final, she posts it all on her canvas page. It's also a non-cumulative final which is nice.
Prof doesn't understand what she's saying. Half the time I'm lost and I don't know what i'm learning. Please LOOK INTO FEEDBACK! Alots of my peers think the same and she needs to know herself because this is a joke..
She is a very nice person and cares about students. I have her for both Bus232 and Bus336, and I love her. However, her lecture is a bit boring. She records everything and posts it on Canvas. Her midterm and final were fair based on the lectures.
Great prof. She knows the subject well and teaches it well too. Records lectures and wants to help students as much as she can. Fair exams too. Do not crib about the prof you arent ready to study for this content-heavy course. Group projects are good ways to increase your grade average as the course content can be too much. Final not cumulative.
Took her course in early 2022, she never recorded her lectures which was tough when reviewing material. She also had no idea what was going on while teaching, often taking breaks or ending class because she couldn't figure out the material herself. If you wanna pass you should prob show up to class otherwise you will be behind.
Awesome prof, who always like to help and answer students' questions. would definitely take her class in the future
i like her
Really good at explaining concepts and always gives helpful answers to questions asked about materials/assignments. Fair exams based on lecture material. Very kind person and good lecturer.
Great prof, so glad she actually solved questions by hand in lecture and often asked us if we have any doubts regarding the same. It is really important for this course to understand how to solve questions as 232 is very content heavy. She records classes and also gives out practice questions often. Fair exams. Would take 336 with her too.
I had an awesome experience taking 336 with Prof. Ganjouhaghighi. Everything you need in a prof, transparent with grading outlines, recorded lectures to review content, clear explanations. Very practical class also if you want to refine your Excel and data visualization skills. Overall a very caring and knowledgable professor. HIGHLY recommended.
She is amazing. You are having any difficulty reach her out. She wants her students to pass the course. Slides could be a little confusing somethings. Want more caring professors like her in SFU.
Negar is very kind and is always willing to help her students if they have questions. Her exams are fair and she only tests on things she has taught. Highly recommend.
Professor Negar is such an amazing human. You can go to her with any questions you have and she will take the time to answer it thoroughly, ensuring that you understand. She is so caring and her lectures were helpful
The nicest prof I have ever had. Had her for BUS 232 and 336 and I learned so much in both. She is the only prof I have had to be so open to questions and going the extra step to help students. She also sent us canvas messages telling us how we are such smart students before the midterm :') she is literally so nice and fair with grading
I had an awesome experience taking 336 with Negar. Everything you need in a prof, transparent with grading outlines, recorded lectures to review content, clear explanations. Very practical class also if you want to refine your Excel and data visualization skills. Overall a very caring and knowledgable professor. HIGHLY recommended.
Can you use better equipment when you record your lectures? Whenever you show your work that crap is 5 frames per second yet you do nothing to address the issue
She is a SUPER NICE prof. I can feel she loves teaching and she is very willing to help students and even give hints during the exam. For those people who complain about her class recording. Remember it is your responsibility to attend the lecture, and class recording is NOT REQUIRED for the in-person class. COVID is over! Come to class!
Professor Negar is a super nice and caring professors, 100% recommend.
She makes BUS232 simple and easy to understand. She always asks if students understand topics taught, and provides recorded lectures in case you can't make it to class / want to rewatch the lecture. Her quizzes are fair and easy if you watch the lecture. Can be a little boring, but follow along and you'll be fine.
I recommend taking courses with her because she really cares for her students. She does a lot of examples in class, and answers questions in class. Very accessible outside of class as well because she arranges a time, if you are not available during office hours.
Overall, she is a very kind person and explains everything really well. Lectures are recorded and being able to re-watch them helps a lot. The textbook is optional, but I recommend purchasing it for practice problem examples. No surprises on exams, but questions are on the difficult end. #1 tip for success: PRACTICE.
Overall very kind professor, and gives good feedback. All of her exams are fair as she gives many hints for what to expect and if you zone out in class you can just watch the recordings which are extremely helpful. Take this course with your friends so you wont worry about having a bad group for the group work. 10/10 would recommend
AMAZING experience in her class. She is a great lecturer and cares for her students. Class requires a lot of practice to do well on tests. Take 232 with her!
She was a pretty nice prof, often showed explanations and walkthrough problems during lecture. Slides are pretty informative as to what to expect on exams and I would say it's really important to practice after lecture per week. If you don't understand something, review back on the lecture recordings as it helped me after 3 hours of lec.
Great lecturer with clear explanations. Very understanding grader when it comes to group conflicts and can tell she has a kind soul. Goes a bit fast but overall happy with my experience in her class thus far. Content is on the tougher side but keep up with lecture and content and you will be okay! Please take her for 232, you won't regret it.
Assignments contain some grammar mistakes. Nice and caring person.
The material is hard but she is willing to help if you ask, when I took it lectures were recorded and posted which helped and also be prepared to do the assignments in groups.
Clear lectures, nice and caring. explains very well.
She is a great prof as she does her best to help students succeed and is helpful with answering questions. Lectures are recorded so if you miss anything you can always just watch them. Just practice the in-class questions and try to keep up with the material, if you don't understand anything just ask her for help. Very nice and caring prof overall.
She was very helpful during office hours and put effort into making sure the concepts were clear. Her grading was very fair, and she genuinely cares about helping her students. She is a great prof and I hope to take future classes that she teaches.
Negar is an absolute gem of a professor. I was so anxious to undertake this statistics course, however she provided the utmost support and guidance from the start to ensure the material was understood and easily grasped. Her exams were very fair and the assignments are a massive help to prepare. Overall definitely one of the best professors at SFU!
I didn't officially have Negar as a professor but she answered questions and helped me with my stats 270 class more than my own professor
First professor I actually like. Explains everything so well and answers questions when you're struggling. She tells you basically everything that will be on the quizzes, and the type of questions on the midterm and final. Assignments, quizzes, and problem solutions are posted almost immediately. Take her classssss
Lecture is recorded, and there are 5 in person quizzes that she basically shows you how to do in the previous lecture, very kind prof however you have to know what youre doing for those quizzes cuz theyre 30 mins which is barley enough time to write everything down. exams MC is difficult however written she tells you in class what she expects
Professor negar is really good at teaching and genuinely cares about the students wellbeing. Also very forgiving if you genuinely made a mistake. Would definitely take her courses if possible
She is a great prof who genuinely cares about her students. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow. Quizzes, exams, and assignments are fair.
Makes a lot of spelling mistakes and calculation errors but other than that she was fine.
Amazing prof. Attend the lectures because she goes through the material very thoroughly with lots of examples and ensures that you understand it well. It would be difficult to figure it out on your own, so make sure to pay attention. She helps if you have questions. She's very helpful during her office hours. One of the best profs I've had at SFU.
Such a caring prof that tries her best to make sure everyone understands. Provides lots of info to prepare for exams.
Had her for bus 232 last semester and bus 336 right now. Negar is one of the best professors by far at SFU. Fair exams, tells you what exactly is on the exam, and opportunities for bonus marks. Though, if you're not strong in Excel, try to familiarize with it. I never learned so much Excel but it was extremely useful as an accounting major.
Negar is a great professor, the way she explains concepts is so easy to understand and the examples she goes over are super helpful!!! She seems like she is really passionate about her subject and very knowledgeable as well. I highly recommend her BUS 232 class
I had to retake Bus 232 because I had a D. My last teacher was a math lecturer and did not try to explain statistics in a relevant way to our class. Negar was an excellent teacher, focusing on the usage of statistics and other functions in excel. It helped me a lot in my Co-op where I had to do a lot of data work.
Lectures themselves are quite helpful and negar is very good at explaining all the concepts. Lectures are recorded. 4 in class quizzes and 5 assignments which were all based on what we learned in class. Midterm and final were both fair. As long as you practice questions and go over all the concepts, you should do well in this class!
Really cares about her students success. Half of the lectures are spent going over practice questions and make studying super easy.
I was very nervous to take BUS 336 because I had a very bad experience with BUS 232, but Negar made my nervousness go away so fast! She's an amazing lecturer who uses a lot of examples in class to make sure you understand the material, she is so approachable, and helpful if you ever need any extra help. I would take her class again in a heart beat.
I had a rough time with BUS232 so I dreaded this class. However, Negar made BUS336 so enjoyable, I never thought I'd have a fun time with statistics. She is extremely clear with explaining the concepts and grading policies. She essentially tells you what will be on the quizzes and exams which makes studying very efficient. Would take again.
Best Prof, actually cares about students and wants them to succeed. Exams are extremely fair.
Nice professor, fair exams. Group assignments are not really difficult.
Outstanding professor who goes the extra mile to ensure her students understand concepts. She shows how concepts can be applied to various facets of life. She is approachable and truly cares about her students. If 232 was a nightmare for you, she will change your entire outlook on stats with 336.
Really great prof. She starts every lecture with 30 minutes of review from last class with problems, which helps to remember previous material. She does a ton of practice problems in class and explains them well. Midterm and final were not that difficult because she gives you a comprehensive formula sheet, literally just plug numbers in.
she records all her lectures, goes over multiple examples that are similar to exam questions, answers any questions asked during lectures/office hours and final is non cumulative. She's very understanding and nice to students, the only thing is she doesn't respond to emails and there's not enough time during exams, otherwise she's a great prof!
Very kind and answers every question students have during the break. Mayyyybee an occasional typo in slides.
Honestly a solid professor. Lectures were recorded for convenience and participation was rewarded. My biggest gripe is that the course is heavily backloaded: A midterm, 2 quizzes, 3 assignments, a report and a hackathon. The first half only had 1 quiz, 1 assignment and 1 midterm. The pacing of the class hurt the quality.
Negar is a caring prof who does her best to make hard course material easy to learn. Her tests are clear and similar to the practice questions from lectures. the group projects can be rough if you dont choose ur group mates carefully. read the instructions for the projects thoroughly and be sure to get help in office hours.
She's a great professor and makes difficult information very easy to digest. She doesn't mind repeating herself and changing how she explains something. She's flexible with deadlines as well. Very caring, patient and passionate. 100% would recommend.
her lectures are so easy and the assignments are so hard that you can barely use her lectures to supplement and do the assignments. Have a topic on our midterm that we didn't even get to learn yet in class? Her practice midterm questions are also much harder than the lectures as well so have no clue what to expect with exams
Good lectures that are easy to follow, but they're not applicable to the quizzes, assignments, or midterms because she makes the content significantly more difficult for those. Question prompts are unclear and there are a lot of assessments and assignments compared to other courses. 30% of your grade comes from group work, so choose carefully!
She is a decent prof, atleast she records the lectures so you can listen to them on 2x speed. Exams are very very long but not necessarily hard. Classes are not worth going and rather boring.
She is one of my favourite profs at SFU. Her lectures were very informative and she went through all of the concepts in great detail. If anyone had any questions, she wouldn't hesitate to go back and re-explain until you had a good understanding. She's very knowledgable in the subject, and therefore made an amazing teacher. She made stats enjoyable
genuinely negar is the best math professor i have ever had in my entire life. she explains concepts very clearly, gives you a complete list of what she will ask you on midterms and finals, and gives opportunity to get extra marks if you ask questions in her class. she is also very organized and has good structure. highly recommend she is so good!
Negar is by far one of the best profs I've had at SFU. She really cares about her students and is always willing to give help. She encourages participation in her lectures and as a reward, it can boost your grade. The lectures were very straightforward and reliable for the exams. There are group assignments that are very beneficial for learning.
Very good prof nice lady, course is hard but if you go to class and listen it will be easy. She explains the course concepts very well and posts her lectures with tons of examples.
Very sweet and straight-forward professor. She was great at breaking down difficult concepts into easy-to-understand pieces. She lets you know exactly what will be on the midterm and final (no surprises). The course is tough but as long as you do the practice questions that she provides (along with the slide questions), it will be fine!
She is one of the best professors at SFU, and very very caring. The fact that the lectures are recorded goes to show how much she cares about the students, exams are very fair, and during the lectures, she will often explain and emphasize specific topics that will be tested in the midterm and final. She makes statistics so interesting and easy.
Negar is great. Her lectures really do help understand the material, and she takes the time to explain more complicated concepts in detail. Super nice person, too. My only complaint is that she could be more careful with her wording/grammar on quizzes/assignments/exams. Sometimes it can be hard to understand what the question is really asking.
Lectures are easy to follow and cover everything you need to know for assignments and exams. She managed to make statistics engaging and fun. Lectures are recorded. She was very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions. Quizzes and assignments were generally straightforward and easy if you pay attention to the content. Overall great class.
She is a very organized professor and provides a very supportive learning environment to students.
Really engaging lectures and gave students time to ask questions. Rewarded class participation in the grade. The midterms were difficult.
One of the best professors I've had! The way that she teaches makes all the concepts very simple and easy to understand. You can tell she wants everyone to do well. The midterm and exam are somewhat difficult, but if you practice the questions/problems she goes over during lecture, you'll do good. There's no surprises on exams, they're very fair.
I don't think she is suited to teach for this course; she is teaching 373 for the first time. I have taken 232 with her; she is so great and familiar with that one, but this one is not! Very short time to take a quiz with so much work is suck! Choose another prof.
One of the few professors who speak cohesively and finish the entire thought process. It was a fresh reminder that there are still proficient professors.
She explains concepts clearly and records lectures. Her midterm and final are very fair. She always explains concepts and answers questions thoroughly. Group assignments and quizzes are clearly explained and easy to do. One of my favourite profs at Beedie!!
This course made me want to cry every day, not because of the prof but because of stats.
Professor Negar's lectures are always straight to the point and clear. Her explanations during class are easy to follow through and she always welcomes student engagement and questions. She even helps with giving students hints on what's coming for the midterm and final exam. I would take more of her courses if I had the chance
She is a very nice professor; I have taken her courses BUS 232 and BUS 373, and it was a super good experience learning and taking exams in her courses. Everything on the exams will be the content she taught in class, and she is very caring to us :)
