Nah fam, to sum it all up she's very vague on her policies and doesn't know excel very well, even though its the bulk of the class. Take some else....
Shes a genuinely nice lady but her teaching is not very well. She makes way too many mistakes so its hard to trust her work. During lectures she doesnt explain all the steps that shes doing so its hard to comprehend when she skips through it. I have to teach myself all the material so going to class feels pointless. i wouldn't recommend taking her.
Do yourself a favor and pick someone who is a more effective lecturer. She doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner, other professors for this same course allow open note tests. The only grades are the tests and quizzes
She is horrible. Doesn't explain well, doesn't do reviews and tests are too hard as a result. I have to learn all the material on my own with the textbook. I wish I hadn't taken her. Its better not to take her
Just reads off department-wide notes and does not know what she teaches at all.
Does not round grades up if they are .5 or higher. Hell no bro
Caring teacher. Shows lots of practice problems. Most of her tests and quizzes are based off the problems given so if you practice the problems you'll do good on the tests. Attendance isn't required but if you attend class and email/ask any questions you have, you'll make a good grade. Overall easy class and would take her again.
She is super nice but makes the subject more confusing than need be. She doesnt explain concepts well and you will end up teaching yourself the material. I have an A in the class, and I am telling you, take someone else.
This teacher while already somewhat hard to stand is ok however I will not take her again for she is very test heavy and gives quizzes every week. Her curves are weak if she does curve the exam grades.
she gives no feedback on her quizzes so you don't even know what you did wrong or right. She's not a 100% sure of what she is teaching. you can tell she is not confident enough, so how do you learn from that?
I'm convinced she reads the lecture notes a day before she attempts to teach them.
Her lectures basically consist of her reading off the lecture notes, making lots of mistakes, and misunderstanding the questions students ask. Her exams aren't very difficult and it's definitely possible to get an A, but if you're not good with sitting down and teaching yourself, take another professor.
Worst professor Ive ever taken at UTD!! She clearly doesnt know what shes teaching. She constantly makes so many mistakes on everything. Its so hard to understand what shes teaching. I would never take her again and I advise all of you to avoid her!! The only good thing about her class was that attendance wasnt mandatory.
Easy class. The tests and quizzes are easier than the total material assigned to study. Really helpful if you visit her office hours. She even takes questions about the chapter before some of the quizzes. Overall really simple class.
The subject matter was not that difficult she is just not a good lecturer/teacher. She's very nice however she does not set the student up for success. She put quizzes right before tests but we never got the quizzes back to see what we did right/wrong. Terrible class, only passed thanks to watching YouTube how-to videos and the help of others.
This class was unpredictable where the tests had a different format that were not very similar to the reviews. There is a lot of content to learn so if you skip or don't study you can easily fall behind. Do every practice problem given to you multiple times in order to be successful.
Not really a lecturer (just reads through the notes). Good thing she posts all of the lectures and practice problem solutions online. I just read through them on my own and figured it out. Quiz after every chapter and 3 exams. She's really nice, and she really did try to help, but I think she just needs more experience.
Shes very nice as a person but her teaching skills needs lots of improvement. If you are a visual math course learner I recommend taking someone else. Her lectures mainly include reading notes word for word out loud and minimum practice problems that she almost always makes errors on which makes it hard to understand as a student.
not a terrible professor but not an amazing one either. The class is just her lecturing with a notes packet. There is no mandatory attendance or homework, she doesn't call on people, but she does have quizzes. Overall, it was an ok class. You can make an A as long as you pay attention and do the suggested problems
Professor is helpful in office hours. Ask a lot of questions and outside of class and you'll get it really easily. Quizzes and exams are easy A's if you study for a couple days before them. Lectures can be kind of boring though. Met her in office hours and got an easy A.
Professor Ahangar is very new to teaching. She doesn't seem confident in herself but she does answer all questions accurately and is very clear with what you need to do. The material can be easily self taught, and I never really went to class and still passed with an A. But I definitely studied the notes she gave online and she has many quizzes.
Shes honestly not that bad. Yes she reads off lecture notes and makes a few mistakes on the solutions sheets but her exam and quiz questions are very similar to the practice problems. Shes actually very sweet and helpful when you go to her office hrs.
Although class could be very boring, she does her best to answer questions and extremely helpful in office hours. She takes student advice and evaluations seriously and even implemented changes after hearing some of the changes that students thought should be fair.
I don't know how it was in the past, but this semester was great. The lectures were a bit dry, but she is very helpful in her office hours. Grading based on 7 quizzes and 3 test. If you skip class you can get away with the course book and going to her office to clear up any lasting confusion. We did have review sessions and she did curve grades.
Good classes Good professor
Clear lectures and easily accessible outside of class for any questions you may have about the assignments.
Her overall score doesnt reflect her true quality. She is very caring and easily accessible. Her lectures are fairly easy to follow, and is available for questions on assignments. Ended up taking her in back to back semesters, both great experiences. The material isnt easy, but shell do her best to help you understand. Overall great Professor!
She is a great professor. Her score on here does not reflect how this semester went at all. I highly recommend her. She drops two quizzes and is very helpful in office hours. If you show up and pay attention, you're golden.
A great teacher overall. A small accent but will not get in the way. Saves you money on not requiring a textbook. Lectures are relatively dull but through them and practice problems you know exactly what will be on the test and how to solve them.
Professor Ahangar cares for her students and does a lot of practice problems. This is a difficult class, but she does a good job of explaining. Attendance isn't mandatory , however you better go if you don't want to struggle on the quizzes and tests. Due to COVID-19 I was able to opt for cr/ncr (class is difficult in general). She does a great job.
Professor Ahangar is so sweet, caring, and soft-spoken. She is always willing to help and really makes sure you understand the concepts especially one-on-one. She gives you the notes so you just follow along w/ her in class. She also gives thorough reviews. The tests are not too bad just make sure to study. Take this professor, she is awesome.
TAKE HER!! She is so nice and sweet! The material can be a bit dry at times, but she gives out notes so you can follow along. The 7 assignments are exactly like the problems we do in class, so they are pretty easy (they do take some time though). 3 Exams. So long as you study, you're good! The exams are not that hard. She curves if necessary.
Although class got moved online, prior to all that, she was a good lecturer, she clearly explains things well it's not the most interesting topic to learn but shes straight forward. You're graded on seven homework assignments (dropping the lowest grade so a total of six are counted) and 3 exams.
I am so glad I took her for OPRE 3360! I don't know why she got a bad rep before!! Her lectures are printed and organized so it is clear what she is teaching every class. She is so sweet and she will answer any questions that you have. The exams are self explanatory if you take good notes so definitely show up to her class.
Even though attendance is not mandatory it's crucial for this class! If you pay attention and copy down everything she writes as she lectures, then you'll do great in the class. Only 3 exams but provides helpful reviews. After the first exam, you'll be doing everything on excel so I suggest taking an ITSS class before this one :)
This class was by far one of the hardest I've taken, I got a borderline A but thank God! The exams are quite difficult, especially the conceptual questions. Attendance isn't really important at all. I just wish she gave a little extra credit :( She lets us take a cheat sheet for testing tho and provides formula sheets :) Good luck!
She posts all her lectures and notes online but they can be difficult to understand if you didn't show up to class. It is doable to skip but it becomes unnecessarily difficult. Show up and you'll be fine. She's always accessible outside of class and is happy to help you. 3 non-cumulative exams.
Took during pandemic, very clear to understand in videos on lectures. DO THE NOTES, you will not get far if you dont.
Could've been better, very tough grader and she takes off points for not being able to understand your work right and for the smallest little things.
She is a good professor. 2 exams. 8 homeworks. gives 2 tries for each hw. Need to know the material to pass. Her lectures are helpful. if you dont study/care for the class you wont pass. Need to stay on top of the material. Overall a good teacher and teaches well. Would take her again.
She's really understanding and has been very reasonable during the pandemic. About 8 homework assignments with two attempts (don't need to submit workout). Exams are open-notes! 1st exam was easy. 2nd exam was kind of hard. Lectures are optional but you should watch and understand them if you want to pass. If you put in the effort, you'll get an A.
She is a great professor. She explained the materials pretty well and solved a lot of practice problems that was very helpful for exams. There are 3 exams, non-cumulative, 8 homework and the two lowest one will be drop. Definitely take her again!
Professor Ahangar is one of the best in OPRE 3360. Even though attendance dropped to about 6 people due to online, she knows her stuff really well! Highly recommend.
Her lectures are well-prepared. I have taken two of her courses. Overall, a great professor. 6 homework assignments and 3 exams make up your grade. Just stay on top of the lectures and you will be fine.
Class was online and it was based on 8 HWs and 2 Exams. You *MUST* do good on HWs because all 8 HWs are equal to 1 exam grade. 1st exam was hard but 2nd one was easy. Class itself isn't east at all but her lectures and notes are very helpful. You have to put in effort in HWs. Professor herself is caring and explains content very well.
nice person, super rigorous course, must pay a lot of attention and take good notes. be prepared to study a lot for exams. don't give up, u may feel like you'll do horrible but push through, I promise the reward is satisfying. Do well on hw. 8 total, 2 drop, hw is worth 30% of grade. test 1 harder than test 2. lectures boring but plz pay attention
She's super nice, lectures can get boring cuz they are long, but her examples and practice helped study for exams. you have to study hard to do good, I worked super hard this semester to earn this grade and it was worth it. Communicate with her for help, she is always available. Take good notes, trust me. 3 tests, 8 homeworks, 2 lowest drop.
I've taken 2 classes with her so far, and they've been amazing. Her class layout is extremely organized and easy to navigate. She's very knowledgeable, caring, and grades fairly. Each lecture is easy to learn, and her lecture notes make it easy to refer back to. She has a very slight accent, but it doesn't affect how she teaches or communicates.
I do not know why her rating is low here but she is a great professor, she teaches well and explains the material great making it less hard.
all opre classes are going to suck no matter what but shes a good professor. fake it till u make it. hw assignments can be kinda tough sometimes but use each other for help. she does provide a good curve to her exams which are typically taken at the testing center. she recorded her lectures so attendance wasnt required. cant not miss class
Professor deserves a better Rating. Never have felt so ready for a class and she explains everything so well. Gave printed out notes for lectures if you wanted, recorded lectures, allowed formula sheet on Test, and homework was very doable because questions were similar to notes to reinforce learning. 10/10 Take her.
She explains concepts well and we got homework almost every week. She will explain again to you if you dont understand something. The exams questions were kinda tricky and had to be taken at the testing center. She provided formula sheets and allowed us to take cheat sheets. The exams were similar to the review as well.
One of the best professors I've had! Lectures are clear and she provides lecture notes to follow, allows us to have formula sheets on exams, fast to respond to emails, willingly takes questions about lecture/homework to explain it better for you, gives more than a week to do homework, (easy A, use notes), offers curves, wants students to do well!
I recommend this professor for OPRE 3360. As long as you study the course material via practice problems, homework, etc, you will pass this class.
She is a solid choice for OPRE 3333. If you attend lectures (or watch the recorded lectures later) and understand the homework, you should be fine. Most of the test questions are off the homework with changed numbers, and there was a 5-10 point curve each test. Lectures are boring, but she answers questions and has good notes hence the 4/5 rating.
Yes this class is hard but she makes is so much easier! Her lectures have notes for you to follow along and the homework helps with the test too. The material is difficult but I think its worth taking the class with this professor. She curves HEAVY and is always willing to help students out! Very clear grading criteria!
She is very chill. Teachers at a little fast pace but then she is a very easy grader. Gives you multiple opportunities to correct Assignment Marks
tough exam, taken in testing center with no extra credit, the curve is very little which doesn't make a big difference
She's a great professor, the material is just hard. Long Homeworks every now and then. Test taken in testing center, they were pretty hard but she teaches you everything you need to know. Lets you bring formula sheet and cheat sheets in but make sure you study really hard and you'll do fine. Curves heavily on each test! Shes great, you wont regret!
She is a good professor and is willing to answer any questions. However, the material can be difficult, so keep up with it. There are 3 tests and 6 HW assignments. She sometimes curves test grades based on class performance, but do not count on it. Also, the lowest HW grade is dropped. The practice questions and reviews are helpful for the tests.
Professor Ahangar is an excellent teacher who explains concepts well and wants her students to succeed. The homeworks/assignments are tedious but she gives partial credit and goes over similar problems in her lectures. The course itself can be difficult but Professor Ahangar's recorded lectures breakdown every concept you need to know.
Negin's lectures were pretty dull but content is mostly easy. Homework is easy, 1st test was rough (she gave a 50 point curve), 2nd and 3rd tests were pretty easy (only a 10 or 15 curve?). Overall you'll be fine, I skipped most lectures and did fine but I knew the content so...
This class was like another math class with a few extras. This professor made this course easy to digest and even gave some helpful reviews.
She does a good job in teaching us the concepts. The first half of the class is math, and the second half is a mix of excel and math. The lectures build on top of each other, so make sure you understand the concepts to a certain extend. She's an easy grader, and gives curves on exam, but do try your best in the class.
You can take this class instead of MATH 1326. The professor is friendly, cares for her style, grades relatively, and curves every test. She understands Calculus is a complex subject, so she'll clarify anything if you get stuck or confused. Attend class because it counts as extra credit up to 4%, which helped boost my grade. Highly recommend her.
She is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. All class expectations are clear, and her lectures and assignments relate to the exams that she gives. She cares for her students and you can tell. As long as you stay on top of your assignments and prepare for exams you will get an A. I would 100% take her again.
her lectures weren't boring she takes off lowest assignment grade, gives reviews for exams, not cumulative, lots of practice problems for exams, recorded lectures, you go have to put in the work and watch or go to lectures cause its a lot of math. don't fall behind easy to get lost. 2nd exam was hardest for me. overall great experience.
This class is very lecture heavy. There are a few assignments and three exams. I would recommend working out the practice problems within the notes to help complete the homework.
3 exams, 1 group project, 6 assignments. She is a very good professor, answers all questions. I did not detect a lot of emotion in her voice, but I don't blame her, you can only be so passionate about math. She is very knowledgeable about what she teaches. This class is also dependent on your own ability to retain and study.
Very nice professor who cares about her students doing well, don't be afraid to go to office hours if you're ever confused by anything she is very helpful and goes out of her way to help her students. Relatively easy class as long as you keep up with lectures and practice problems. Assignments are easy, the second exam is the most difficult one.
Please avoid her OPRE 3340 course. She loves to work problems on her iPad instead of using the board, which leads her to skip important details when solving a problem due to lack of space. She is extremely unclear with her explanations and the whole class is puzzled about what the end goal is when solving a problem. She will ruin GPA, AVOID!
I wouldn't take her because her lectures are slighlty scrambled and has a very tight schedule compared to other professors
She is an ok professor compared to the other OPRE sections, she covers material which almost no other professor doesn't she keeps a very tight schedule and its very hard to catch up with the way she schedules things. I would not recommend
She was not a good professor. It was hard to understand her class even though I'm not bad at math. However, she adds 4 extra points to your entire grade just for attending her class. Also, she gave a lot of extra points at the end. I would've gotten a B- because I bombed that last exam. But she curved a lot, thankfully. Her kindness made up for it.
took this class, got an easy A in the class, her giving me 4 extra points on my overall grade really helped. My friends took math 1326 at UTD and all of them regretted it. This class does require effort and attendance but overall pretty straightforward. She curves every exam!!!!! Exams very similar to the lecture notes. I would take course again
Attendance not mandatory and she gives out lecture videos. Just listen to the lectures and you will do well.
The professor is really nice and actually cares about her students. She teaches very clearly and if you're having technical issues, she will walk over and help you. First two tests are somewhat easy, but the last test can be really hard if you don't pay attention. Just show up to class, take notes, and you'll be fine. Homeworks are easy.
This is a hard class because it is a calculus class. But she really tried to make everyone understand. She gives really good feedback and cares about her students. The class is made up of 3 exams and 6 homework assignments. She dropped the lowest grade of the assignment and gave 30% of your best exam grade, so if you do homework, you will be fine.
great professor, had her for summer, my biggest advice is just to keep up with each unit per week because it is a lot of info crammed into a month. not a crazy hard class tho. shes super understanding too so yeah 10/10 would recommend
Genuinely a hard class. Her teaching isn't bad but if you don't pay attention for ONE second, be ready to be very behind. Doesn't curve I don't know why the other students says she curves and her tests are one of the hardest I've ever taken at UTD. I recommend any other teacher.
Very nice professor who cares about her students. You do have to keep up with the homework and learning but it doesn't get too hard if you really break down your time.
I dont understand why people give her good ratings. The class in general is very hard. Her teaching is not the best and the people writing the good reviews are lying for no reason.
Highly recommended for this class. Had a total of 6 assignments, 3 exams. Clear grading criteria. Not a difficult professor at all. Wants students to score good, unlike some who make it difficult for no reason. Whoever is giving a bad rating doesnt seem to be spending even a little time on this course. 2,3 hours a week and you should be good
Her lectures are hard to follow even when you watch her online recordings. the exams and assignments are just tedious and hard to follow. she doesn't do test reviews so its hard to practice and test your knowledge. she also doesn't do extra credit even though this class and this class needs it. She at least replies to her emails fast.
I'm surprised to see many negative reviews for her because I loved her. The exams are very similar to the practice problems at the end of each lecture (and the lecture itself). She's very accessible outside of class to help you and reexplain literally anything. She's very friendly and it seems that she likes to help. I definitely recommend!
She's a harsh grader, and I personally did not understand her teaching style. Many points were taken off for minor mistakes, and I would not reply to any emails concerning grades until after they were put in. Get ready to learn on your own. She's a kind professor, but don't take this class unless you have no choice.
She's is a great professor! She tries to make the class as easy as possible to understand and is easy to talk to if you need help with anything. You have to show up to class and listen to the lectures to do well on the exams but her reviews make sure you know the most important questions.
Professor Ahangar is a great educator overall. She is very kind, approachable, and always willing to help. As long as you watch her lecture videos and review the notes- including both lecture content and practice problems- you should be well prepared for the homework and exams.
If you struggle with math, do not take this professor. She explains things so fast, she posts her notes at the end of lectures, it really doesn't help. Such a harsh grader and seems like she wants to trick students on the exams. Does not provide reviews. Did not seem to care when I told her I have a hard time understanding math. Do not take her.
This is a tough class because it's calculus, but she really makes an effort to help everyone understand. She provides great feedback and genuinely cares about her students. There's also extra credit if you do problems in front of the class. Definitely practice the concepts
I learned so much in Professor Ahangar's class. Even though calculus is a tough subject, and the material was complex, her explanations were clear, detailed and thoughtful. Like every other class, you must show up, pay close attention to the lectures, and work on the practice problems she generously provides at the end of each lecture.
She is Alright. She answers in a decent manner. I would advise practicing and using lectures videos for help especially in the summer times.
AVIODDDDDDD, I should have listen other review but unfortunately thought to take it cause the only class that was available. The exams consists of question we never went through in class. IDK why she try to make it hard. TOUGH grader , th exam are 75 % of ur grade. and she make It tougher each time
Her lectures were helpful for tests. Her tests were easy and her test curves are decent.
RUNNNNNN!!! I don't what to say but don't take her at alll.
ruined my gpa.
I've never written RMP before, but she was genuinely that bad. Her lectures were confusing, lacked detail, and didn't match the homework. With no textbook, you end up guessing. She doesn't explain things well, even though many students are new to analysis. She talks slowly but still skips key points. I struggled to keep my grade. Don't take her!
She's a nice professor but if you're contemplating doing online for this course, don't. No reviews for closed note exams and practice problems are not like what she teaches.
Her lectures don't help, attendance isn't mandatory, there are no open notes on tests, & she doesn't curve either. Instead, she uses a lowest, median, and highest grade system that will ruin your GPA if you make one bad grade. All her homework was free-response, & it accounted for 25% of your grade, so if you do poorly on those too, you will fail.
I mean, the lectures are accurate to what is on the exam. The material is challenging for me personally, but the professor does a good job of making the math-heavy content passable.
Almost everyone in the first exam for below a 60 and she did not curve, almost no way to bring that back up unless you do outstanding on the other 2 exams and quizzes as there is no homework in the course. Lectures go extremely fast, if you struggle with teaching yourself calculus I would not recommend.
Attend the lectures and do the practice and you should be set. She posts annotated notes with solutions and exam review before each test. Has quizzes every other class and you are allowed a one page cheat sheet. The exams are in the testing center and her formula sheets are thorough. She curves at the end of the semester, not for each exam
Solid professor. Lectures can move pretty fast, but she will stop to help asked. Practice questions at the end of lectures definitely help prepare you for tests. No curves for individual tests as they are weighted differently for each student. Lots of quizzes that act as a benchmark for you knowledge of the material. Drops the 2 lowest quiz scores.
She's likely been my favorite professor at UTD thus far. I don't know why there are a good amount of bad reviews about her; she's actually very much considerate of her students. Every time I stepped foot in her office, she's always been a proficient use of help. Please take her and never be afraid to approach her.
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. Yes, calc is generally hard, but she really makes it very simple. 3 exams, very similar to the exam reviews she does in class. She cares about her students and is very accessible outside of class. I would recommend her class, as long as you go to class and pay attention.
Test heavy class with 3 exams, and 6 quizzes, but lowest 2 get dropped. Extra credit for solving problems in-front of the class. Practice sessions similar to exams, and formula sheet is provided on exams. Overall would recommend.
The class has 3 exams with adjusted weighting based on how well you did on them along with 6 assignments with your lowest score dropped. Could have gotten a better grade if I paid more attention, but as long as you know the formulas and attend the practice sessions before the exams, it shouldn't be too hard.
Please take this professor; she's always keen on helping students at anytime. She's always very interested in connecting with students and helping them out whenever, so she's definitely the perfect professor to have for this course. Her grading criteria is also perfectly layed out, and her curves are solid.
