Shes nice but, its hard to understand her sometimes(probably because everyone questions her logic). everything she gives you you will get from homework and mymathlab. she thinks everyone has taken math151 so she doesnt go over all the material, othr than thatshes great.
Makes good use of the school's offered technology, but she counts the seconds in each class period and uses each one precisely. There is no time to spare and things can often seem rushed. If you have a good foundation with math, you will enjoy this professor. If not, you'd probably be better off somewhere with a slower pace.
She is a great teacher. Its hard to understand her at times, but if you pay attention you will be able to understand her. She goes over homework and usually reviews before the Test, unless she doesn't have time. If you do the homework and test review you should do well in each test. She has goes over the material pretty quick, great teacher.
She is great, well prepared and respectful. Class really loved her and her energy was infectious. She is very responsive with emails and gives clear answers. Her content knowledge is very good, I learned a lot and will take more classes from her.
I loved this class. Neha is always smiling and very energetic. She comes very well prepared and post all contents on blackboard. She gives excellent examples in class and is very respectful to everyone. Makes sure everyone understands and encourages us to ask questions. Excellent Professor.
You don't need the actual book. Either buy online or use the one on the mymathlab. Do all the homework. If you miss a class, you will most likely be lost. She gives extra credit and helps those who actually try!
Go to class and do all your homework on MyMathLab, she takes most of her questions from the homework and explains everything really well in class. If you don't understand something, she is pretty good at explaining or tries to explain in a different way. Great Professor!
Nice teacher
Prof. Neha is soo sweet. Very nice, but still can put her put down. She is the best math teacher I have ever had. You may not need to actual text book because MyMathLab has it. You don't have to bring a book to class because you puts hers up. Do the homework and quizzes, show up to every class, guaranteed to pass the test and her class!
Great Teacher, know her suff, alway go over exactly whats going to be on the test. you will not fail this class if you take her. She give you everything you need to succeed.
you will not fail
great easy, fun teacher.
Great teacher, she give lot of examples, she goes over the test in class, she goes over the homework in class, and the final is all you your test,. you will not fail, great, she make sure u don't fail.
Great teacher, she give lot of examples, she goes over the test in class, she goes over the homework in class, and the final is all you your test,. you will not fail, great, she make sure u don't fail. she is good
Don't expect the class to be an easy "A". The tests are from the homework. She can tell if you're a good student or not. She will treat you different if you don't study at all. You get four tests and a final. She drops the lowest test grade. If you fail the first and second test she's gonna say you should withdraw from the class.
She is great Prof. and tests are not hard. There are in class tests , if you fail two of them then she would keep saying you cannot pass this class. But she is very helpful to those who do their homework.
ELI Class. Took quite a long time to respond to email or discussion board questions about class administration. You can work ahead, but you won't get your quiz and exam grades until after the due date.
I couldn't understand anything she said with her heavy accent. When I would ask for help, she would barely explain and tell me that I need to figure it out on my own then she walked away.
Stat 241 is not easy, but professor Neha does a great job teaching. If you do all the homework on mymathlab and practice, also show up to class . You will pass this class! She is really nice and yes, she has an accent. She doesn't use blackboard, only mymathlab and email. Test are similar to your homeworkpractice test on the mathlab.
tricked by rating. Doesn't care if you fail and encourages students to withdraw rather than helping them out. No extra credit -- don't count on getting an A
Professor Jain is a very nice teacher. She sets up her expectations from us very clear since day 1 in the class. As long as you listen to her carefully, do your HW and don't skip classes, you will do great. All test and quiz problems are taken from HW. She knows her math well, comes well prepared, and is very clear.
As long as you study the powerpoints, homework, and book, you should do well on the tests.
No extra credit. Took an 8 week ELI class, did all my homework, barely passed or didn't pass the MyMathLab quizzes. Takes a long time to grade things. No calculators on the exam. Doesn't respond to emails. Doesn't grade hw just quizzes and exams. Seriously, just don't take this class. Wasted my time. Worst grade I've had all my time at nova.
If you plan to take an online course, make sure you are good at math and have time to study. The course was very well made. Mymathlab gave immediate feedback. Professor Jain will either call to answer my questions or scan the answers which made it super easy. Now taking 174 with Prof Jain. Don;t blame the course, if you were not studying enough
I'm a Liberal Arts major so i am not really good at Math especially when it comes to Statistics and the calculator. But she really cares about her students. She answers all the questions of EVERYONE with her enthusiasm, makes me feel it's okay not knowing something as long as i'm trying to do well. GO TO CLASS, DO THE WORK, YOU WON'T FAIL.
Well, I came to write something else and read the review below. I took MTH271 with Prof Jain and she was simply wonderful! She loves calculus and her solutions were so much better and smarter than the book. She comes to class with the biggest smile, loves to help us, and gives all test questions from HW. We all liked her. No one complained.
Prof. Jain is unfair to hard workers . She constantly makes mistakes while explaining the problem on the board. However, if the student makes reckless mistake, she would take 6 pts out of 7. Prof. Jain also encourages students to withdraw the class after two tests; she is confident to tell the class that "she has no problem to fail a student."
Prof Jain I'd say is a really good teacher. She talks a lot about her personal life but connects it with what we are studying. You got to at least show that you are trying, if she sees that she will do her best to help you out. If you do not even try, she won't bother. But she is Greatttt ! I want to take another class with her.
Worst math instructor ever. Discourages students constantly and tests are way harder than the problems that she does.
Even though this class was not easy, Pro. Neha was great at explaining and gives good feedback. Make sure you do your homework, study and the tests won't be too tough!
Prof. Neha is a character. Although I am not a math major I liked her class because she tries to make the concepts as easy as possible for the students.
I'm basically in love with this professor. I just got a voicemail from her. She was just checking in with me. Math has been a real pain for me and I'm already behind in her 8 week online course. SHE called ME! 3 My heart is warmed. No unnecessary obstacles with her. She wants to help :)
Professor Jain is amazing. I am in her online class and was so scared of taking math online. But the professor made sure that I know she is available any time I need help. She called me to explain problems, gave me her phone number and asked me to call her anytime to get help on problems.
A+ student here. Very sweet prof, but INSANE HW for 8wk ELI course. In week 2 after we skipped from ch. 2 to ch. 3, I spent over 32 hrs on HW only to receive 100% on review, 80% on HW, and 68% on open book quiz, and out of approx 25 students, only 5 ocompleted the exam project and exam. Over 40% dropped the course. Take in person if struggling!
I was at NOVA about 3 or 4 years ago before I transferred (I'm a GMU grad). I just remembered Professor Jain and honestly she was one of the best math professors I've ever had. She is blunt. She will tell it like it is but in a way that'll make you WANT to learn and understand the material. I don't like math but she made it extremely bearable.
shes's a really good math teacher. willing to take her time and explain concept if confused and goes over a lot of examples. her accent makes it hard to understand at times. textbook and attendance is a must. take good notes and you'll pass. i hate math but passed with a B not because i did good on quizzes and tests but homework helped too
Not a supportive professor, not clear with her ideas. didn't cooperate in difficult situations, no flexibilty in rules, don't take online class with her.
Ms. Jain is one of the best math professors I ever had, you don't even need the book. You do need to purchase a Mymathlab passcode and it comes with an online book. She makes you want to LEARN and understand the concepts. She is a unique professor and if you come to every class and do all the homework and quizzes, it's a guaranteed pass :)
Professor Jain was the best math teacher I have ever had. Ive read some disparaging comments on here that are unfair. Im not great at math, at all, and I never have been. However I thrived in her class. She does an amazing job of explaining concepts. If you do your homework (which isnt much, at all) and study for exams, youll do just fine.
She criticizes student, but nvm you will pass with an A or B. She is kind and caring. Her teaching is excellent.
There are only 3 exams the entire course. There is a project that goes with every exam. Besides that, there is only the MyMathLab homework and quizzes. Easy
If you struggle with math I would recommend not taking the 8 week course, and take the 16 week course. She doesn't have many options to help you as her hands are tied by the college.
Worst online professor I've ever had. Why I think this: -She posts no notes. Nil. Every teacher I've ever had in college, online or not, has posted basic notes of the sections. Your only hope is you can read obfuscating textbooks well. -Doesn't respond to emails/forum posts in timely manner. -Gives awful feedback on exams and takes weeks to post.
The class is hard for 8 weeks and if possible, should be taken 16 weeks. Be prepared to study 10-15 hours per week. The professor is very accessible and let us call her on her cell any time of the week. She post announcements regularly to remind us of deadlines and grading timeline.
Math is probably my weakest subject. To be fair, I did not do that great in her tests. However, I received a B+ since I entered all my homework and the projects on time. After looking at my colleague's projects I noticed I missed a few things but she still gave me an A on them, so she's not a tough grader. Would take again.
I am dropping this class in time to get my refund and protect my GPA. If she is a good prof. I wouldn't know b/c I could tell the course was unorganized from the jump. If you take full load and need to work ahead you can't w/ her b/c she fails to make work avail. until near the due date of first assignment. Don't bother, you will drop her or fail.
So it all starts with her story of how hard it was and how she learned math in India. And then she will try her best to make it feel like you are in India, very backwards and very unprofessional. She wants you to fail than pass the course and will tell you that to your face lol
She's a great teacher, who actually likes what she is teaching. Fairly lenient grader who gives partial credit.
Professor Jain is the best. Her exams are easy. During the lecture, she goes over all details that you need to pass the class. I would take her again
I had to drop out on the first week. Way too much work and on excel. She took a coupe of days to respond to emails and questions. Way too many excel work which I am not good at. NO late assignment. She made the syllabus quiz hard which is ridiculous imagine how hard her real test are.
Neha Jain Was a great professor there was a lot of homework, but it leveled of the testing. Tests were difficult and not too much like the homework. But she goes over the test with you and curves your grades.
Not sure who can ever say anything negative about professor jain. She is AMAZING. The most Caring professor at nova. You obviously gotta work for your grade. It is math after all, but she makes everything easy to understand. She goes at a fair pace. She gives a review before every exam. The questions on the exams are similar to the study guides.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!! She messed up my grade and she is extremely unresponsive to emails or text messages I would have to text her twice in order to get a response even then she would never give clear information. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
From the other reviews, she seems to be better at NOVA Online courses, where she doesn't have to actually "teach" the class, only grade quizzes and tests. I thought Diff Eq wasn't too bad, especially since her tests were open-note, due to the pandemic. She tends to respond to emails slowly and doesn't give too much feedback.
She does not respond to emails quickly! The least for me was three days! I had her in class, then had to move it to online due to COVID and she was not responsive whatsoever. She didn't hold lectures over Zoom, nor recorded lessons to upload on canvas. Rather cited some YOUTUBE VIDEOS. Doesn't deserve to be a teacher. Waste of money.
8 week fully online class with no specific days/times and no meetings. I basically had to teach myself Calculus 1. Professor Jain responds to emails quickly and our class has discussion boards that everyone posts hw problems on each week. There were 3 tests, 9 quizzes, and 33 homework assignments. It was okay, but doing 8 wk class was challenging.
She will give false test dates, changing them only a week in advance, so if you are scheduled for anything else, get ready to have to skip. Just about all the information about the class is incorrect, it has so many weird test prep such as setting up lockdown browser that you find out the time of the test you don't use. She is very hard to contact.
Admit the Covid-19 Pandemic, we were required to stay home and take online classes. I needed to take Calculus 1 and Neha Jain had seemingly good reviews so I thought she would be a good choice. The online course is strictly by the textbook! She does not do lectures. Also, when you email her, she tends to forget to respond or responds so late.
It was her first time teaching stats and she was practically learning with us. All the work from this class was through MyMathLab that takes away silly points though she tries to help you redeem your grade. No extra credit. No curves. Consider taking stats with a different prof.
Shes okay
If you don't care about actually getting educated or are only taking stats because you have to, she is an excellent choice. If you take her online, she lets you use excel formulas for all the different calculations and the material itself is much much easier than calculus or even pre-calc. You take quizzes in class and can use all resources.
I feel like her rating should be higher. She was really nice and would answer any questions you had so you could understand the material better. Although, the site that she uses for the homework can be really annoying.
Professor Jain moved at fast pace sometimes during the lecture, but overall she was helpful. All the tests and quizzes that we took were open notes including the final exam so if you pay attention in class, ask questions, and take notes, you will do extremely well.
I took Professor Jain class for 15-week, spring 2021. She is so kind, caring, and understanding. She is so passionate about teaching and taught us a lot in class to make sure we understand the lectures well. Her quizzes, tests, and exam are based on everything she taught in class. They are very easy. Just pay attention in class and you will pass.
So sweet!! She really cares about her students and does everything she can to help you. She responds to emails quickly, and her online class structure was so clear and so easy to follow. I highly recommend her!
NO! please don't take her, I'm a straight-A student and I took her for pre-calc 1, she does not respond at all and on the first exam, the homework and textbook she made us read, non of the questions related to the topic she made us do. Just like you, I thought she had an average rating and took her class but please don't make the mistake I made.
Professor Jain was great for MTH161! There was something wrong with the Extended Learning Institute's (ELI) calendar setup and usage of ALEKS, and she went out of her way to make sure students were graded fairly despite the course setup problems she experienced (outside of her control). She was available offline for calls/emails too.
She is very condescending. She tries to come off as nice but she's very rude to her students. Not a good teacher. I had to teach myself everything Actual words that came out of her mouth: "Its honestly really sad that you guys don't know this. You need to do better" If the ENTIRE class doesn't know what's going on, then its probably your fault
Dont bother . Doesnt communicate and when she does she is rude and condescending. Dropped the class glad I did. Posted assignment due date a week already into class so if you have a job be ready to be shocked about assignments that are due you didnt know about.
She never puts in grades and you will not be able to reach her outside of class. Its hard to understand her and she speaks very fast. If youre not good at math, dont take this class. Shes a nice person but shes very confusing.
Honestly, shes quite condescending if you dont understand the material. She speaks down on students who struggle & blames them when the whole class is lost. She speaks very fast and makes lots of mistakes that students correct her for. I suggest going with a different teacher if youre not naturally good in math. NOT ACCESSIBLE OUTSIDE CLASS!!!
Don't take her class if you want to be taught math. Very confusing and makes mistakes every few minutes on the board.
It feels like she's learning stats while she's trying to teach it. Makes mistakes at a rate that's inexcusable for a professor. She also just skips over what's in the textbook and teaches everything her own way, which is usually wrong. Also very condescending when students don't understand her and blames the class when she should be blaming herself
Professor Jain is a great and underrated professor!!! She seems to be really passionate and loves what she does. She always goes out of her way to help her students and answer any questions you need!! Only con is that My Math Lab can be a bit laggy and all over the place. But other than that shes a great professor that wants you to succeed. 9/10
The questions on the Canvas exam were not the questions we studied on WebAssign. The exams were worth 60% of our grade so I feel like we got screwed over. Don't take her unless you already know calculus.
I emailed this teacher twice asking for the class code for the online course I'm taking through my College. Did not respond to that, so I messaged her on Canvas but she also didn't respond to it.
Professor Jain is kind. The class is primarily conducted through an online service. The lectures are not super helpful. Be prepared to teach yourself the bulk of the content. There is a ton of work and it is all graded.
Prof Jain is really nice teacher. She is very helpful and patient in class. Prof. Jain is easy to understand. She is very positive and enthusiastic in her personality. She is also encouraging and respectful and makes herself available to her students. Math is not easy but Prof. Jain is very patient and nice.
Very good at explaining things in the simplest form! I recommend this professor if math is not your strong suit but effort must be put!!. Attendance is key to passing this course. Homework, quizzes, and projects are FREE POINTS. Best way to pass the course is keeping up with the homework to practice so the test will be a breeze!
She cares about math and you can tell, she always took the time to make sure everyone understood while still keeping pace. You have to actually do the homework and make sure you understand the concepts to not fall behind but that applies for all math
OMG her accent is really heavy I'm sitting in the class not knowing what she is saying or writing. A lot of homework a lot. she said she is really optimistic but idk about that. if u want to learn math find a better teacher. she talks really fast and doesn't explain materials she said "we don't have time for it." if you take her good luck.
Half the class dropped. a tougher grader. she forgets we are students not her coworker and she expacts us to learn fast, a bunch of homework and she is so unorganized while teaching you get lost. I had to teach myself everything. AND SHE NEVER PUTS GRADES UP ON CANVAS OR REPLY TO EMAIL.
Best math professor, she really loves her students!!! She does have an accent but she is still understandable.
I honestly cannot express how good this professor is. I took her online, and she was always super accessible outside of class. She does her best to make sure her students succeed. Math professors are usually very tough but she is definitely very sweet. Take her !!!
She is really smart and she expects the class to be on the same level as her, she is very patient, she does use the textbook, make sure you complete your homework and you do good on your quizzes or test and you will be fine. She is not very organized with her grading system or homework. But she is good. She cares about you and your grades
The mixed reviews had me unsure of whether or not I would have a good time in this course, but I am delighted to say that it was a great experience.
I have never really contacted her for any questions. The topics overall were pretty good and the quizzes are open note so you don't have to worry about having them proctored. I just feel like I was on my own in this class. If you are planning to take more than 5 classes please manage your time wisely. :)
My favorite professor I had at NOVA. She is so sweet and funny, and gave actual advice for life. I am not good at math, but showed up to class, paid attention at lectures and did my homework. Struggled with some tests and the final, but she saw my efforts in class and with assignments and I earned an A. The best math class I ever had.
Professor took an extremely long time to grade assignments. our class started in mid January, and she did not grade those assignments until almost MARCH, no exaggerations. Its extremely frustrating when you need to know your grade and strategize on how tackle future assignments. DO NOT take her.
I took Professor Jain's online class, and the material was straightforward. The class grade consisted of homework, quizzes, and projects, which weren't difficult to complete and open-note. However, she did take a while to grade things.
She is decent gurts!
I took this class for the second time it was so much easier with this teacher. Calculators allowed on test which really helps, even if you do bad on the test there's so many attempts on the homework you can save yourself. I did have a few missing grades in canvas for a while even after multiple emails to her but I did get all my grades in the end.
Professor Neha Jain gives an overwhelming amount of pointless homework and quizzes that add unnecessary stress without improving understanding. She is an extremely tough grader, and her class is unnecessarily difficult. This is genuinely one of the worst classes I've taken, I strongly recommend avoiding her if possible.
She is the best math professor I have ever had. Although I don't have any more math classes to take, I would definitely work with her again.
Prof. Jain was very helpful. She articulates herself well and explains math in an approachable way. She is strict about phone usage, so be warned. She also doesn't extend tests. Despite this, Prof. Jain cares about her students' success outside of her class.
Please Stay away from prof. Neha Jain , the work load is insane , gives weekly homework and is very discouraging. Her pace is very fast and it seems she is only teaching to students whom are already good at math which is very frustrating for C grade math student.
