boring lectures, but overall a good teacher
She knows what she is talking about, but has hidden points she expects the student to find and needs her curve. Background on the subject is helpful in her classes...
Straight foward lecture, fair and balanced tests.
I wasnt crazy about her, i thought her time limits for the tests were unfair, and i thought the class kinda sucked...however, i do have to say if you go to her office hours she becomes the nicest person you have ever met.
One of the fairest teachers i've had. Everything is organized and very clear. I would love to take another class with her
She's a very good teacher and makes everything clear and understandable.
Absolutely the most organized and concise professor I have ever had; her organization skills will make you want to go home and clean your room. Her teaching style is human and clear, and she is more than willing to explain concepts in detail if needed.
teacher's exams are crazy hard
She teaches everything very well and you will understand everything from the course even if you only get a B. You grade may not reflect how much you learned.
She teaches well but the material is very difficult and the tests are really hit or miss. She's one of the least fare graders around.
Well prepared and very organized.
If she only knew how to grade test I might still got o shcool there.
She holds a lot of office hours and seems to really care about your grades if you go into discuss them with her. She's a very serious teacher, very organized.
can't teach or grade. worst econ class ever. should have taken kern.
Khanna is a tough professor, yes, but she is also very organized and concise. She is very prompt in returning her emails and will go out of her way to help you in her office hours. Just make sure you remember details!
The best thing about her is she makes sure you're aware of when you can get extra help and she is very fast and helpful in responding to email questions. That said, her tests are rediculous because half of it is trying to figure out what the question is
At the beginning you might not think that it is too bad. Not too much reading and the material looks easy. But, if anyone can confused the hell out of you it is her. Half of the time you are going to try decoding her questions and keeping up in lecture
can't underestand her half the time
Professor Khanna is a great teacher. Though young, she is more knowledgeable anout material than most professors I've had, and if you require her help, she'll give it, in fact she'll offer it without you requiring it!!!!!She's an excellent professor!
very harsh grader, lots of assignments, do not take her courses!!
once you get used to the british indian accent, you'll realize that the information she gives is very clear.. and she writes down most of it- tho i found out that if you write down things she says but doesnt write on the board, they usually help on tests
Khanna is a very organized teacher. The only annoying thing was the online hw assignments. She writes everything you need to know for the tests on the overhead projector. She also curves exam grades :)
Read: http://bingweb.binghamton.edu/~nkhanna/331/midterm_distri04.pdf. Half the class failed and she's not curving the grades. That says something. Doesn't seem like she takes this course seriously (office hours once a week, course website unhelpful). Be prepared to take oodles of detailed notes.
omg...that's all i need to say
she is a hot looking prof, thought she was a student first day and tried to hit on her, thank god she didn't fail me. extremely tough teacher, little harsh on the grading, but very fair. u'll learn a lot if u make it,takeif uwanttolearn if uwant a easy class then don't come to college.
Takes awhile to get used to her accent. I love saying her name over and over as a meditation chant. The class is hard and boring. No curves even though most people don't do well. Little effort will get you a C.
Good professor, explain everything well... maybe a little too well. Most of the time she just try to explain the same thing repeatedly with different ways. Very helpful if the topic is tough, but very boring most of the time
she has an accent, but its easy to get used to. dont really need the textbook if you take down her notes. tend to repeat and goes too fast. sometimes very fast. test's are tricky(the wordings), if u can get pass the trickiness then u can get a better grade on the exams.
Very tough exams, although she does curve each one. As long as you can do better then the average you will have a B. Easy to get a C, hard to get an A. pop quizzes in discussion are not fun. tough accent which makes understanding complex ideas that much harder.
does not do anything for the students. i took her for econ 160 and thought she was fine but thats because the TAs did all the work. always talks about how many students she has and how she cant post up answer keys.(isnt that part of her job). if you cant handle so many students dont teach.
she was very easy to understand despite the accent and was very good at explaining the concepts. the tests and quizzes were tricky, but i overall enjoyed to class.
She makes everything in beginning economics clear and easy to understand. Has a slight accent, but it doesn't impend her speech.
good professor, she is clear and explains the concepts in depth. tests are a little tricky but she curves grades so it works out fine.
She's strict but fair. Go to her office hours and she is more than willing to help. She teaches well and is very clear. But this is not going to be an easy A. Student must be willing to work & must go to classes. If you go to class, do the HW, and study, should do well. Slackers usually do very bad b/c it's easy to fall behind.
very thorough, detailed tests- take good notes- even more than what she gives you in class
Excellent professor. She was always well prepared for each class, and presented the course so thoroughly that I almost never had to ask a question.
IN all honesty this professor is very challenging. I remmeber not doing so well in the start but finishing strong. You will leave this class and definitly know very important stuff about the OIL markets and depleting resources in the world, which is the hottest topic in todays political arena. You will get your moneys worth with this professor.
The class is difficult but you'll get a chance to take a class with one of the brightest people you'll ever meet. Very math intensive, but Khanna makes it tolerable. I learned a lot from the discussions in the class. Recommended if you are really intersted- prepare to study a LOT.
She's useless. Out of 25 people in the class, 70% is at D or F. For graduate school, that's a cut of funding for 70% of the new class. Adjusting the same grades in her class to the other intro grad class 501, her D's are B's. She SHOULD curve the class, but she won't. She'd rather fail 70% of the class by grad standards. Avoid this useless woman
Apparently out of a class of 40 students only 2 get A's. Didn't give any feedback on the final, didn't give us answer keys, talks too fast, and makes things that aren't that difficult excessively hard.
Extremely frustrating course. I was excited for the topics, application and even for the professor, despite seeing the bad reviews. Extremely unclear with economic logic. She is goes the class the full time just to do it. She was unhelpful and generally arrogant. I work as an RA, so I am a rigorous student, but her difficulty was just nonsense.
By far the most challenging class I have ever taken. she goes way to fast. if you see her in her office hours she will give u and arrogant attitude. way too much calc. i cant believe it is not a graduate course. she is very smart but does not teach well. she fails to state the objective of wut were doing making it confusing why we do it at all
What's with all the hate? She is a fine professor. Challenging, but fair. Hard, but fair exams. You have to know some calculus and study. Also encourages you to make a 20 minute presentation on an article. Makes for great class discussions. Class very relevant to contemporary environmental issues. May be arrogant, but certainly helpful and nice!
Definitely one class that you can't just expect to get an A by going to class and not do the assigned readings along with the everyday lecture notes. She's challenging throughout her notes since you will definitely be saying "what the..." if you don't give her your 100% attention. Always review your notes and she is fair & accommodating in grading.
I took Econ 162 and later Econ 433 with Professor Khanna; she's brilliant. As a freshman, I didn't appreciate the scope of her intelligence. But by senior year, when I was struggling with all of the calc in Econ 433, I realized that Professor Khanna is one of BU's best. If you're floundering, study and go to office hours; I did and received an A-.
Khanna's material is pretty difficult. HWs and exams requires a lot of work.if you study and pay attention in class, then this might be one of the better ECON courses to take. HWs are challenging, but feasible. Tests r just as challenging (she never reuses old exams, so if you hate cheaters like I do,then u're in luck).and averages HWs+Tests to B-.
She's useless.. most students got "C" or 'D'. The instructor is a problem not students. But the more important problem is that she thinks she is doing well. You will be fail at 70 % probability. I am not kidding.
The hardest teacher in bing. Her tests were ridiculously hard. Don't take her if you want an easy A or if you dont want an F. Take a different teacher
Honestly, her tests are unnecessarily hard. It's like she wants her students all to get C's. NOT AN EASY A. Take her only if you MUST. Gave her the hot rating because I felt bad.
One of those that thinks they are good teachers but in reality, their students hate them and learn nothing from them. I wouldn't recommend this teacher for anyone, find some other intro to micro class. She is one of the most unnecessarily hard teachers I have ever had. Expect an A? You'll probably get a C. Expect a B? You'll probably fail.
I took her micro class years ago after getting a D in another prof's class. I do not remember his name but his class was impossible! I wont go into details. Her class was a godsend! Her notes were clear and she explained things well. I got a B+ and I am NOT adept at the subject. If I did well ANYONE can. I Don't know why people are complaining!
Class started out easy enough, but then got really difficult. Excel stuff was almost impossible. Not enough time to do the homeworks. Exams very difficult. Unless you really like the subject, I would try and avoid this class. Neha's nice but not the best prof.
ABANDON SHIP!
433 She knows her stuff Very well. And the supplementary materials are helpful/uptodate/interesting/applicable. Presentations are extra credits. Excel can be confusing for first time users but it's not impossible. She will try to help you a lot if you go to her office hour. The most applicable class I've taken at Bing. Needs calc I.
Hard grader, and her tests are about analysis not just about memorization. This is not an easy class so take it if you want to put in work. There is one midterm, big research paper and a final. There is homework but it doesnt count for much.
She is a great professor. The material is hard, but she is very organized, and tries to explain it with clarity. Don't take her class if you expect an easy A, but if you are really interested in the field, she will help you learn a lot.
Neha Khanna is a great professor. She recognizes students for their efforts and doesn't presume knowledge. Her classes are hard but fair. Effort gets a B, a lot of effort gets an A- (or an A if you're careful). If you want to learn, you will like Khanna.
The most calculus-intensive class in the undergraduate course list. If you don't know calc, don't take the class. Professor Khanna, however, is probably the best in the department. The level of respect she shows her students is very encouraging. NOT EASY.
Neha is amazing! Her lectures are very clear, and she will explain things until they are understood. She puts off the appearance that she is unapproachable be she is very approachable for anything. She has inspired me to Economics.
Lectures are interesting with her insight into the subject matter. Very clear in her expectations and tests are fair.
I found her Econ 160 class to be enjoyable. She always brought in interesting examples. Tests were easy but be careful because she curves down. Discussion sections aren't mandatory but they're helpful. I'd recommend
Very clear in lec's, exams are straightforward. Much better than some other prof's I've had in my time here.
She's a very good professor. If you have any trouble in the class go to her office hours she is super helpful.
While Neha Khanna is an extremely intelligent professor, she speeds through the material way too quickly. Challenging class, especially as the semester progresses.
Best professor I've had at Binghamton so far. Makes lectures worthwhile. She's very receptive to questions, and extremely knowledgable about what she teaches. Exams can be a little tricky, but she never throws any curveballs. I swapped in from Chaurey's class into hers because of a scheduling conflict and I'm glad I did
Professor Khanna is one of the better Binghamton professors I've had the pleasure of taking a course with. She is knowledgeable and provides plenty of time outside of class to help students. I did not receive an A because I did not study or attend class enough. But if you put in the time and effort, an A is attainable. PS Read the textbook!
I got an ok grade in her class. Tip: Read the textbook and go to office hours and go to the discussion classes (practice econ problems are in the discussion classes). Ask questions. Her tests can be a bit tricky so please read the question carefully and think about each question carefully. She puts a lot of tricky questions on tests ESPECIALLY onmc
Professor Khanna was pretty good. She draws plenty of example diagrams in case you miss something or don't fully understand it. She's also very nice if you go to her office hours. Tests are somewhat hard but fair. The only issue was that her lectures were pretty monotonous and repetitive. If you can pay attention, you'll learn.
Just read the content of the PPT in class. There is no blackboard writing
If you are an Econ major and not a hard worker, I wouldn't suggest you for this class. 40% of the class Got C below, which means failed in Econ requirements course. It is a really hard course, although she's able to explain things clearly during lecture, homework are heavy and hard, tests are even harder.
One of the hardest upper level economics classes I have taken. Calculus-intensive and heavy homework. Final includes both calculus and excel which makes use of the Solver software. Put in a lot of effort and you will get an A- or A. Overall, hard but interesting class!
Khanna is a very clear lecturer and shes interesting. However her exams are really hard, but as long as you study you should do fine. What makes or breaks this class is your ta. Mine is too disorganized socially awkward to teach effectively so I stopped going to his discussion. Try to attend another section if that happens to you
the lectures, while not needed to do well, are very helpful. she is very knowledgeable of her field and is fair, yet accommodating when possible.
Worst econ teacher i've ever had. You mostly get graded by tests and they're really difficult. You get a lot of homework assignments and they are only 10% of your grade. If you fail the midterms, you basically fail the course. I stopped going to lecture because I literally can't understand her and she's goes way to fast. everyone skipped by end
Horrible econ class with Khanna. The tests are worth your entire grade and if you don't do well on one, you basically cannot get a good grade. Even if you study, the test is beyond hard for no reason. Having a good TA is so important; you will literally fail without a good one. Mine barely knew English. Lectures are FAST PACED and DIFFICULT.
ECON433 has been the hardest class I have taken in my life. Professor Khanna is very helpful and respectful in the classroom, but the course material she teaches in entirely too hard. The top students in the class get 50% correct on the midterm. No one in the class earns an A, highest grade in the class is either A- or B+.
This is the hardest class Ive taken at Binghamton, even significantly harder than econometrics. That being said, Professor Khanna is great at explaining and is extremely approachable and helpful. Id gladly take a class with Khanna again, just not this class cause its way too hard unless you have amazing math skills
Best class I've taken from the department and probably the university as a whole. We focused on theory, applied calculations using, and discussion of relevant literature. These three areas really helped to flesh out understanding of the field. You must intuitively understand calculus and its economic applications
She is extremely intelligent, and thats obvious. She can go on and on about environmental economics, so much so that the students dont even know what we dont know. Her tests are 80% lecture based and material is not found in the multitude of readings she assigns. Knowledgeable prof., but difficult material.
She is a solid professor at bing, however her lectures are incredibly heavy. She draws 5 totally different graphs each class and never informs you on how they relate. HW's are not online and are so difficult; her exams are based 100% on lectures. Relies heavily on her TA, which unfortunately the class suffers from. Sooo much info for only one sem!
ECON433 is unreasonably hard class. Not a great lecturer, either. I'd avoid it if I could.
Professor Khanna is by far the worst professor I have taken at Binghamton University. She seems to have a lot of knowledge about Environmental Economics and she wrongfully assumes that her students are as knowledgable as her on the subject and teaches in this manner. Tests graded incredibly hard, no partial credit. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH NEHA.
Avoid this is what I can say.
I took ECON433 with her and I thought it was a very hard class. She is not a great lecturer, either
Avoid her at all costs. She draws graphs all throughout class and no one knows what they actually mean. Only 2 tests and 4 homeworks and relies on the TA to grade everything which is not a good thing. Tests are hard and no partial credit. Worst professor at Binghamton by far.
Horrible professor. Draws graphs all throughout class and nobody knows what they mean. Hard grader.
Worst class and prof. There are barely any graded assignments and what is assigned is graded so harshly for no reason. As an elective, there is no explanation for why this class is so hard. Khanna seems to think her students have the same amount of knowledge in this subject as she does. I would do anything to go back in time to avoid this class.
Tough grader. Unreasonable expectations for a class at that level.
Seems to be knowledgeable about Environmental Economics but assumes that her students know as much as her on the subject. Tests are graded impossibly hard & with no partial credit. Avoid this class if you can.
One of the much better econ professors at Binghamton. Really knows the material and doesn't just repeat the textbook back to you. The textbook is more of an auxiliary tool, and she mostly teaches from her own perspective. The class can be challenging, but the curve is generous.
I took her class and went to her office hours and she basically said I should withdraw from the course, and comes off as her not willing to help. me.
She was a really nice teacher who knew a lot about the subject. Expect her notes to go in depth and expect a lot of graphs. Tests were fair and she clearly explained what was needed. Only 4 homework assignments all semester which weren't too hard to complete. That with a presentation, midterm, and a final are the only things you are graded on.
Guys, This is certifiably the hardest class I haver ever taken in my entire life. SO SO SO Much MATH! If you're just an Econ Major and you need upper level electives, avoid this class at all costs. Absolutely miserable. Nice professor but the workload is insane and the tests are so so difficult. The final ruined my life. At least she kind of curves
Double-faced professor who hates her students. The MA class I took with this so-called professor had just five students, not the major course, no test, final is a literature review. She tells you nice things but badmouths you to other students. And slaps with a bad grade without an explanation. Avoid!!!
I took her Econ433 course. When I struggled, I went to office hours. Instead of being helpful to a student... she said I should withdraw right away.
seems to know stuff about Environmental Economics. however, condescending to her students when discussing the subject.
Terrible teacher and arbitrary grading
seemed like a nice prof.
Acts fake nice in class but badmouths students after class. Avoid her
The weird eye thing is a true expression of how she is. Says one thing. Does another. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
She acts nice but fake nice in the class and then badmouths students after class. Avoid her!
Hard class but what was worse was how rude she was to students. I'd never take another course with that instructor.
Absolutely avoid if you can. Nice in person but it is all fake until later in the semester. Avoid this class
One of the most unethical profs at Binghamton. Avoid if you can.
It is one of the worst economics courses I have taken and I regret it!
She acts nice in person but real nasty. Avoid
Very weird lady. Sent us an email about her father and Covid.
One of the most disliked Econ professors. Absolutely avoid if you can. Nice in person but it is all fake until later in the semester
The class is not easy, but this has genuinely been one of the most rewarding classes ever. The professor is my favorite Econ professor, hands down. She makes sense. She's organized, clear, and very easy to work with. Not relevant, but her outfit game is ON point. If you try, you can't do poorly. Note: excel heavy
DONT TAKE THIS PROF! I took econ 331 my last semester before graduating, I expressed I needed help in order to get a C (which I needed to to graduate) she provides no help, doesn'y care about her students at all, gave me a D knowing I needed a C. I was unable to graduate and kicked out of the MBA program I was accepted into, she did not care.
Very emotionally driven and doesn't consider the logic in what she is teaching and is very inefficient in how she teaches. For example, we had to use solver on excel and she wouldn't share the excel sheets with anyone so no one in the class knew how to do it. I received a B on the Midterm and only got 13% right!!! Don't do it kid pick another
She creatively finds ways to make the class more difficult. If you don't want to go to her office hours to compliment her outfit, don't take this class! She is extremely biased and terrible at teaching anything but setting up an equation Only teachers pets get the A, good luck shining boots.
Ms. Khanna knows her material but doesn't share it with anyone which is the opposite of the purpose of a teacher's purpose. I had to figure out everything myself. If you don't agree or miss a couple classes you won't do well.
If you don't want to lose your hair and start twitching pick another class
She's very condescending to students, grades harshly, and sets unrealistic expectations. She makes the class unnecessarily difficult without providing effective teaching, which is her job. Instead of acting as a helpful guide, she behaves as if she's doing students a favor. To keep your sanity intact, consider choosing a different class.
Hard to say nice things about her lecturing style. One gets the sense of academic inferiority going on, masked by superficial toughness, odd outfits but under the veneer, not much there. Arbitrary grading, focus on silly details and no attention to what matters on the topic. That's how you get a third tier env econ teacher. Bingh can do better.
She taught the second half of the sem for the class when I took it and that half was not that great. She is definitely knowledgeable in the topics, but she is not that effective at being able to break down that information and teach it to others. I didn't learn much and was very confused with the material. Her midterm and final went awful.
Professor Khanna is organized, clear, and concise. She wont baby you, but she's an amazing professor who knows her stuff. The readings are really dense so pay attention during lectures, especially when she's going through equations and excel. Take good notes on the step by step process required to solve each type of problem and keep practicing.
This was easily the worst class I've ever taken. Avoid at all costs. It took more effort and time than my much harder classes. What they ask of you as an elective is absurd.
The class is not as bad as others wrote. She definitely tries hard and has good intentions. Must have been a good teacher once upon a time when younger. The current class has 4 students for a class capped at 40. So, it ain't that bad.
Easily the most difficult course I have ever taken but actually quite interesting. Lots of calculus that either needs to be translated into excel or explained in an economic context. She goes through the math fast and can be confusing. Do NOT miss class, notes are long but super important to doing well and understanding why the math works or means.
Dr. Khanna is extremely knowledgable in the area she teaches, but is not very good at relaying the information to students. No textbook, lots of graphs drawn in class with little to no explanation of them, lengthy homework assignments graded on accuracy. Challenging exams, the notes you take in class are the only thing you have to study from.
Professor Khanna's class is challenging, but engaging. Stay focused in lectures, practice problems regularly, and leverage tools like ChatGPT and Unstuck ai to improve your study efficiency. Put in the work and you can succeed in this course.
Professor Khanna really cares about her students succeeding and is very knowledgeable on what she is teaching. This class is definitely tough but if you attend all classes and pay attention in lecture, the homework and tests are very reasonable. Really interesting econ class.
Very nice and knowledgeable, but class seemed harder than it had to be. The only grades are a midterm, final, and a couple of homework assignments. Not mandatory but she doesn't post any slides to go off of so if you don't go to class you'll fail. A lot of material covered and midterm average was extremely low but she curves a lot.
Every lecture consisted of random unlabeled graphs that she wouldn't explain for more than 3 minutes, rants about her unrelated research and old experience, and the most boring student presentations on earth. The practice tests looked absolutely nothing like the actual tests so don't even bother doing them. Just horrible.
ECON331 was a nightmare: random, unlabeled graphs with 3-minute lectures, irrelevant rants, brutal tests nothing like practice, slides never posted so miss class=fail, midterm averages abysmal. She ain't an economist—she's got an ag sci degree from Cornell's ag school. Avoid at all costs. Drudge hw, arbitrary grading & her rants=selfish fluff.
