Organic Chemistry is one difficult class. Dr. Glagovich organizes his lecture material and teaches clearly. I enjoy his class. Of course, I haven't received my final grade yet. He seems fair.

Good teacher, with a fantastic grasp on his subject. Be careful however, he is prone to mood swings. Hell hath no fury like he does when he's in a tissy. Becareful doing research with him, he is extrodinarily demanding on your time. All in all a great instructor, but still human.
while teaching is clear and organized tests are organized in a confusing manner causing me to get questions wrong that i understood prior to the exam. he is arrogant, and seems to take more pleasure in stumping students than seeing if they understand the basics.more extra credit work recommended.
He is a nice guy, but he is a chemistry genius, seems to be very aware of that and either wants everyone else to be aware of it or just thinks we are all as expert at chemistry as he is because he goes TOO fast in his lectures. He definately seems to take pleasure in stumping as many as possible.
The guy is an arrogant **** that loves to see the smart popular kid fall.
Dr. Glakovich, although arrogant, is clear on the subject matter. Don't get on his bad side though, because once you're on it, your grade reflects that fact. If you remain unknown to him, you'll be more likely to pass. (I am passing with a B, so I am not speaking out of anger; it's just the truth)
Dr. Glagovich, (or Dr. G) He is very clear in class and examinations, he likes to torture people. Overall I love the class, I dont like the fact that brown-nosers seem to get along with better. I wished he didnt get pissy so easily. He is one of the best teachers I had though (B in class).
unfair grading, picks favorites, gender biased but I must say, he is _very_ color coordinated... always a plus.
Absolutely excellent professor and teacher. BUT he is a typical science prof. thinking his Ph.D is greater than God. Orgo is a tough course no matter where you take it, but his daily quizzes are far beyond the realm of fairness. (got a B)
while very knowledgable, obviously passionate and good at explaining, he doesnt care if students pass or not. he is very arrogant, shows favoritism, and makes organic chem much harder than it should be, especially for non-chemistry majors. the tests are ridiculous considering only 50 minutes is alotted. no professor should be proud of himself if his class has a 75% failure rate...he should make efforts to fix the course structure so the chances of passing are better..but his adjustments are ineffective.

Plus he has some kind of chapstick addiction or something (not to make it personal, but....)
This is a tough O-chem class. Its not a matter of understanding the material; its not too hard. The problem is being able to do the long tests in 50 minutes. Many students know the material in and out but just can't do the test in 50 minutes only to get a worse grade then they deserve.
Terrible O-chem course. I like the material but they ist presented is in a very threatening manner immature manner full of ego. I won't take another chem course at Central ever. Its obvious that Central doesn't need my business. The norm is for students to take this course twice and at $1,200 I wont risk it again. 50 minutes to take a 4 page test.
This is one tough course mainly geared at chem majors. You have to know your stuff to make it through the 50 min test He makes you learn a lot. Best to know how a mechanism works rather then memorize a mechanism. The pace of the class is fast as mentioned already. He must pride himself on teaching an indepth course. The 50 minute test is whats hard
Tough course-requires time.Know your stuff to finish the test in 50 mins. He is a fair grader and doesn't appear to purposely flunk people its just some students are not chemicaly inclined that are forced to take the course for a Bio degree. He does have to look after 50+ students in one class alone and has other duties. Its tough on him also.
His tests are fair but challenging. I know many people who have passed both semesters with a high grade. Contrary to common belief, you dont have to be a chem genius to get an A. He genuinely tries to help people pass, but we are in college now and it's our job to learn the material. Yes I am a chem major but I have a strong interest in biology.

Great class, tough but so what? You learn alot about the process involved in identifying chemical componds from start to finish. It was a lot of work but well worth it. Dr. G's the man!
Material requires a lot of memorization and some thinking. First time I have ever run out of time taking a test and had to leave parts blank. He does grade easy at times and gives partial credit lets hope he continues this trend.Sarcastic but mostly in a funny way but since he's in control it can be humbling. He knows his stuff. Best of luck at Yale
We didnt need to complete all questions after all and so I did finish the test and ended up with a good grade. He did grade fairly easy for me at least. The Bio majors didn't fair as well as it was a hard test.I recommend Bio majors take OChem at Tunxis were they give take home finals. This course is definitely geared for Chem Majors Yee Hawww!
Difficult class where the grade is based on how much time you have and memorization ability. He is difficult to understand unless your a chem geek. Unfortunately most students who have to take org. chem aren't chem majs. He needs to gear the class to all students. I recom. sitting in the back and if you have questions ask a classmate or a tutor.
(Spec ID) A good professor. Lectures were long but highly informative. Excellent online resources available to students. The class was very difficult, but if you are willing to work hard and budget your time accordingly, you will do very well in his course. Lab teaches fundamental techniques for spectroscopy, very useful for chemistry majors.
Very organized, clear and fair. Excellent speaker. You will learn alot from him.
Had him for organic lab. He was good at explaining things and approachable. Only problems I had was he seemed to disappear when you needed to ask something and had a sarcastic humor that occasionally was downright rude. Tells you exactly what he wants in work so you'll do good. If you aren't offended easily you'll be fine. Ignore his comments.
Very good professor, he gives one of the most organized and clear lectures I've ever sat in. H Yes Orgo is hard - but it's not his fault the material is difficult it goes with the territory. If you study and put the effor in it is possible to do well. He also has very helpful notes online on his school webpage check it out!
Had him for Orgo 1, and it was the first chemistry class i ever enjoyed! he moves through material fast, so if you can't keep up you best find a tutor. many students are afraid of him, i don't know why, if you have legit questions go ask him and don't be intimidated. he is a tad full of himself, but so would you if you had a doctorate in orgo!
one of the best teachers i've ever had
one of the best teachers ive had. I was very nervous going into orgo I and II and I had him for both. His lectures are very clear and he is a fair grader, plus hes a cool guy
One of the best professors I've had, Chemistry and otherwise. Yes, his class is difficult, but it's Organic Chem, it's expected. He's tough, but very fair and in the end wants his students to do well, but you have to put in the work. Attend his lectures, they're worth every minute, go over his powerpoints and weekly quizzes and you should be fine.
So there are mainly two things I evaluate a professor on. Their overall personality and their class. His class is organized but rushed. Stay on top of things. He is abrasive and rude at times. You're better off finding help elsewhere. There aren't any other teachers for the course though so just sit quietly and study.
A bit rough around the edges, but will help you when asked. Class isn't demanding if you DON'T FALL BEHIND! Do practice questions, and review "clicker" questions to succeed on online and in-class exams.
Dr. G is a real bright guy. He does a great job distilling all the information into his powerpoints. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll be fine. He gives you plenty of resources, from the powerpoints, to the clicker questions, to the online quizzes. He definitely wants you to do well.
Extremely intelligent professor and he sure knows that he is. Class is tough you HAVE to stay on top of things or else you will get lost, fast. He's the only Orgo lecture professor so he is super busy and students always come to his office for help. However he does want you to do with providing clicker questions and chapter quizzes.
Dr. G really knows what he's talking about. Everything taught was really crystal clear. Even if you didn't get it, he was willingly to explain during office hours. His weird sense of humor was one my favorite part of the class.
I have no idea why his score on here is so low. Dr. Glagovich is by far the best professor I have ever had!! He is so clear and fair. You have to keep up or you will get lost and there is opportunity for extra credit the entire semester via the clicker questions. I wouldn't want to take Organic with anyone else. Truly amazing professor!
This class covers 13 chapters of intense chemistry and dr g flies through material! He's extremely knowledgable but if you dont keep up you're in trouble. He wants you to do well and gives plenty of opportunities for that.
Dr. Glagovich is one of the best professor of my college career. His lectures are excellent and the information is very clear. His final was the standard ACS exam which was a pain but overall if you actually want to learn and understand organic chem this is the professor! Don't expect an A will be handed to you, you'll get out what you put in!
Great teacher, ENTJ. Moves extremely fast, hard course material. If you think and learn visually, you'll have an easier time. Otherwise, there is far too much material to remember without building a pattern or using intuition. He gives worksheets after every class period due by the next class, and after every chapter is a quiz. This helps a lot.
overall he does a really great job of teaching an extremely difficult subject. Gives daily homework, online quizzes, and tons of extra credit that helps balance out the usually low test grades
He is a very good professor. He gives many opportunities to have a good grade in his class; he gives tests, homework, take- home online quizzes, and even extra credit. He completes a chapter approx. every 2 classes. There's a lot of memorization, so be ready. I even took the lab with him and it wasn't bad. He expects a prelab and quiz for each lab
Dr. G is a great guy. He really has a passion for orgo which makes learning it so much easier. He used his office hours on friday mornings as a review session/class for his students to attend if needed (SO nice of him). I like how he encourages questions and answers them without judgement. Homework is short and really helps your understanding.
Dr. G is one of the best professors for the chem department, he is great at what he does! Orgo can be difficult but he makes sure to provide enough assignments to help make up for bad test grades! Make sure you bring your clicker and actually do the HW! Go see him during his review sessions, he's always willing to explain things. Wish he taught 212
Glagovich is easily one of the funniest professors I've ever had at CCSU. He really engages with his students and makes them feel comfortable. Homework is due every class but it really boosts your grade so do it! His tests are EXACTLY like his lectures, pay attention.
Lots of extra credit provided. Make the class entertaining. make sure to buy all the class materials. Study hard for the tests and make sure to attend the study sessions that he offers. A very inspirational man.
Great Professor that teaches a very difficult class. He makes it entertaining and fun. There is homework due every class and this class does take up a lot of time each week. He does in class questions that gives you extra credit on your grade. Honestly wish he taught 212 as well. He also in that he drops your worst test grade to help you.
If you're being forced to suffer through orgo, you might as well suffer with this guy. He is great!
Dr. Glagovich is a tough grader and gives a lot of homework, but the homework is useful in learning the material especially at such a fast rate. Reading the textbook is a MUST and can also be treated like your notebook writing class notes in the margins. The text and lecture make the class easier to understand but the class does go by fast.
Best professor ever! He makes the class worth while going. If you EVER have to take an organic Chem class... take him. His exams are multiple choice. Tricky however he is one of the only orgo professors that does multiple choice exams. He has ALOT of extra credit! So make sure you do youre homework and do the clicker questions. They help a lot!!!
He goes through the material at a fast pace and gives a lot of homework. Class entertaining and worth going to especially since clicker questions are extra credit. Exams are multiple choice and similar to the online quizzes and clicker questions but tricky. He offered a review session every Friday. Great professor for a difficult class.
Organic synthesis with him was a trip. Basically, you take a crap ton of notes in class, open-note exams (not a cake walk tho), and there's problem sets you get about 5 days to do (vary in length). No clickers, PPT's, nor online quizzes though, unlike in CHEM 210. He's hilarious, passionate about chemistry, and honestly the best professor I've had.
Organic Synthesis is hard overall but he broke it down simply. Very lecture heavy with alot of notes but exams are open note which makes it harder. About 8-9 problem sets. Best professor hands down for Organic Chem. He does give alot of work but its worth it. He makes the material fun and exciting!
Hands down the best chem prof. The material sometimes can be challenging, yet thats what you should want and expect from an upper level chem course. You dont want As handed around, do you? Fun class over all, put in the work and you will be fine.
From his Lab Hood, it's Dr. Totally Kyle Like one time, I was taking Orgo Chem. And I was like whoaa is that molecule a cyclopentane or an isobutane? Then like , I went to the teacher's office hours. And like I figured out I was wrong. The nomenclature was like a cycloheptane. I was like whoa whats the IR specta? And the janitor told me to leave
All information comes from the thorough notes he writes on the board, which you can use for the exam. The exams aren't easy so you need to study. The 8 problem sets help but many of the questions are more difficult; if you can do them you'll be more than prepared for the exams. There's extra credit and a curve built into the class. Cumulative final
Glagovich is one of the best professors ive ever had as a bio major. CHEM 210 is a rough class but he makes it very possible to get an A. Lots of extra credit, lots of homework and quizzes. Tests are simple and to the point and are much easier than the homework. Hes really funny and teaches well.
This class is insanely hard, but Prof. Glagovich makes it 10x better. He wrote the book for the class and it is so amazingly helpful. Everything is so clear and the pages arent too overwhelming bc they are bigger text which makes it less stressful. The lectures are super interesting. I genuinely like going to class and trying to understand orgo.
Orgo is the hardest class I've had to take especially because chemistry is not my strong subject. Professor G makes passing more achievable by having almost 65 points of extra credit. Theres a lot of homework and online quizzes but they help to understand the material and help your grade. He made the book and it goes along with the powerpoints.
Lots of extra credit. Must do HW to keep grade up. Weekly quizzes, you get 2 attempts-2nd attempt is the same exact quiz so I suggest printing & figuring what you got wrong and then retaking quiz. As long as you do your HW & quizzes you should pass.I failed every exam but passed. Dr G is the best, 2nd time I took orgo & its so much better with him.
Professor G is an amazing guy. The book he wrote himself and it is amazing ! I used it as a notebook as well for class notes. he has a lot of extra credit! work really hard and you will do fine! exams are multiple choice, online weekly quizzes with 2 attempts and homework due every class and study sessions every Friday.
Really nice guy and the level of difficulty is because of the class itself, it's not him. Homework every week but it helps your grade, trust me. Go to class because he does extra credit every class, that also helps a ton.
Took organic with him this summer, its not an easy class of course but his book and lectures is what helped me , and also doing extra problems from his book . Study from his book and pay attention well to his lectures ( taking good notes ) , you should be able to do fine He a good professor.
The textbook assigned for the class was not the best to learn the material. The professor spends so much time going over material and not enough time making sure that we understand it. He gave examples during class but we did not have enough chance to try them on our own before we were given another one. He makes it uncomfortable to ask questions.
Excellent Textbook, Excellent Lectures, and Excellent Professor.
If you are reading this you sadly have to take orgo. Professor Glagovich is an amazing professor that really knows his stuff. Now the class is not easy and not going to be easy but he makes it as easy as it can be. ATTEND CLASS theres extra credit every class and it is a lifesaver
If you have to take Chem210 I do believe he is not the worst professor. He goes through the information really quick. At the end of each class there is an extra credit point. The homework is long and only is worth 1 extra credit point. I passed with the necessary C+ because of the extra credits in class and homework. You should attend all classes.
Dr. Glagovich is one of the best professors I've ever had. He made this class so easy. He offered 50 points of extra credit, 12 came from the homeworks and 38 came from in class quizzes at the end. Read the textbook and do all the problems and you'll be fine. Print out the slides before class and take notes on them, it helped so much.
A difficult class, but if you attend the lectures and do the work you shouldn't get lower than a B. Plus this prof gives so many opportunities to earn extra credit, it's insane. Not to mention he is very interactive with the class and willing to answer any and all questions. Would definitely take another one of his classes.
While the class is obviously hard, Dr. G makes it so much more interesting and fun than many other professors. As long as you try to keep up with all of the homework and do practice problems, you should be fine. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities and he provides the slides he uses to lecture so that you can take notes on them. Amazing.
He was a great professor and very understanding. The topic was just difficult but he did a lot to help understand it. He gives extra credit opportunities every class and makes homework extra credit to boost your grade.
I took Organic Chemistry 1&2 with Dr. Glagovich and he taught very well and you could tell that he does care. His class is really hard, but he teaches well. Do his homework and read his textbook!
He's a decent guy don't get me wrong but the amount of work he piles on does not equal his ability to make sure anyone is actually grasping what he's lecturing on. The amount of work he assigns is absurd for the amount of credit it is actually worth. We just got an email from him this week because no one in this class is keeping up with all of it.
I saw the ratings were so good for him and took him. Idk if he changed his style of teaching because there was no extra credit for us. He gives us quizzes that are so hard, gives us homework that is 60 questions each.
The way he teaches just doesn't click in my head. He reads off his PowerPoints and never does anything on the board. I know me and many students in the class failed his exam and we have to teach ourselves before doing anything. I do not recommend wasting your money on a professor like this.
This class was the WORST. I hated going to his class, I used to cry myself to sleep every night because I couldn't understand and when I ask a question, he would answer something completely different. THE Other ratings are so not accurate because its been 4 years. He changed and got way more harsh and drags the class.
Never understand what he is trying to say. Power points never help me. I am never gonna pass this and I am going to be so mad because he doesn't give us any extra credit
DO not take this class. Save yourself. He is a nice guy but terrible professor. HE cannot teach and always drags the class an extra 3-5 min and I am always late to the class after.
His exams are extremely hard. You can study for a STRAIGHT WEEK , you will not pass. GOOD LUCK
I am crying currently because he is the reason my grad will be delayed.....
sits around with coffee and looks at us like we are delusional for not getting the material when we ask questions. Claims homework is extra credit but affects grade if not done. Exams are utterly difficult/harder questions than what we (barely) do in class. needs to retire; teaching skills below average and affects GPA and passing rates. Swearer!
Dr. Glagovich is awesome!!!! He makes the lectures as engaging as possible and even does a few practice problems at the end of the lectures so we get comfortable with the material. Organic chemistry is a hard course no matter what professor you have.. so go to class, study hard and do the homework. good luck lol
Dr. G is an amazing Professor, Organic chemistry is a very difficult subject. However if you do the homework it is for extra credit and helps you significantly, I am convinced that is the only reason I passed. I took Organic II Last semester and passed that with a B+. Best of luck everyone, its a hard class but you CAN DO IT!
Do not take this professor. Organic chemistry is a hard class..thats super obvious..But the teacher is NOT helpful. Lets get that straight here. Avoid this professor.
This is the hardest class I've taken so far but he is a good professor. He goes through the material well and does practice problems with the class, homework is extra credit, and he has online quizzes at the end of every chapter. The material is difficult to understand but he does his best to make sure students understand it.
do not take this professor, whoever say's you should.. they're lying. These reviews seem like he asks his previous students to vouch for him when they shouldn't be. Choose a different professor. Save yourself.
Originally I liked him, as the semester progressed he became a bit of a D-Bag. He will swear at the class if you don't know the answer to a question he asked. He also weirdly flirts with female students sometimes... a bit creepy. Ochem is extremely difficult, don't take it unless you absolutely have to.
This was the worst class of my life. He is a nice person but I don't really care if he's the nicest since I am failing. He gave us so much homework and always for 2 points. WTH is 2 points going to do for my D in the class. Orgo is hard but he didn't know how to teach it.
I am mad I have to retake this class and It is all his fault bc I kept showing up, I went to his office hours, 10 others were there, and I even went tutoring. There is a problem with his teaching style. He goes through slides and it is very boring, I start to drift off. I can't be taught this way
Horrible just horrible. He is a great person but he shouldn't be a professor. He needs to give students a big curve. Everyone struggled. I shouldn't have to cry every night because I know im not going to pass.
i'll write a review every single day until this man is FIRED. Do not take him. SAVE yourself and your money. He makes college a scam, can't even teach right.
Nice guy, he got fed up with lecture sometimes which i get but he's very chill if you take his lab. He will help you out if you are determined to pass- be prepared to WORK. Orgo is HARD. You need to show up to every class, pay attention, go to office hours, REALLY put in the effort. A lot of it is time management. I actually ended up enjoying orgo
Professor Glagovich is a very good professor! He helps you out when you make time to ask him questions and put the work in outside of class. You can tell he cares for his students by the way he explains things. Orgo is really difficult if you do not put time in outside of class. the people who don't put in effort are the ones complaining
Still not a good professor, coming from a very serious college student (meaning students DO put in effort), I am respectably "complaining" that everyone needs to save their time with this professor. Trust the bad reviews.
This is the best professor I have ever had. He made learning so much fun. I liked that he wrote everything out so I felt like I could keep up with his pace. His homework was exactly like his notes. He has a great personality and is very uplifting towards his students. Amazing teacher 100% recommend taking it with him.
This professor was amazing and I highly recommend. I liked that he wrote everything out on the board and was very engaged with the class. He was very good at explaining things and was very fun to have. He made organic chemistry fun and I looked forward to going to class everyday.
I had Dr. Glagovich for Organic Chem 1 and 2 and I got a C+ in Orgo1 and an A+ in Orgo2. He came up to me on the last day of lab to compliment me on how far i had come and asked what I thought worked and what didn't hoping to improve his class in the future despite having taught for over a decade and knows whats up. Clearly wants students to thrive
Practice exams do not include any reasoning for answers, and the slide shows include no context on how to actually apply the topic to an exam question. Question combines multiple topics into one which end up being much more difficult than only asking about one topic at a time first. A Chem genius who teaches like everyone already knows everything.
Dr. Glagovich was nice in the beginning and then he became really passive-aggressive, he teaches the material in a way where he expects people to already know these things. I don't think he realizes that like 5% of the class is actually chem majors. He also crams 30 exam questions into one sheet of paper, it's horrible.
Dr. G cares a lot about his students. We had extra credit homework for each chapter, online quizzes, and 4 exams. Exams are much easier than HW and quizzes, which are meant to prepare you, so don't get scared. Go to his office hours!! He is very helpful and kind. Orgo is hard but Dr. G paves your way to success, if you put in the effort.
Hes amazing teacher and will help you the course is just hard and alot of work
Gives a run down of every lab before beginning. Not allowed to use the lab manual during lab, must write everything you need in a lab graded notebook. Pre-lab quizzes due before each lab have a generous time limit, have unlimited attempts, and are graded. Lab reports are only a page long, have clear grading criteria, but not much feedback is given.
The professor's teaching style is not for everyone. Attend class, use the textbook, and try unstuck ai for study prep - it helped me get through this difficult course.
Great professor but attending lecture is essential. The slides alone won't make sense, and passing will be difficult without going. Each chapter has a quiz, and there's extra credit offered for every chapter as well.
I was fighting for my life w/ this class. Nice guy, kinda expected people to get the content a lot easier than u really could. Main advice: memorize what he tells you!!! Don't stress understanding the content, it's futile
Definitely go to class!! You won't understand if you don't. He's a good professor but definitely expects you to understand things right after explaining, but show up and go to his office hours. You'll pass. There's also homework extra credit.
