By far the most witty, amiable and likeable professor, quite possibly in the entire Campus if not school. He's one of those professors who really grasp his student's attention with humour and knowledge. He takes his time with his students, Get him!

THIS TEACHER IS SOOOOO EASY! everytime you have a paper due, you can come see him and let him proofread it till his satisfied and by the time he marks it, you will definitely get a good mark coz duh, he has seen your paper like so many times.

he is a fantastic teacher who is passionate about his work. Yes he does make many crude noises but he made english my favorite class of the semester. He pushes his students to excel and succeed. The only beef ive got is with his examples, which although apt, are often useless. take this class!

Funny and interested in what he is doing. Caves into whinny students too easy, which is annoying for the better students. Too many small things to be graded upon. Too many quizzes to help those that have problems. If you are going to cry, do not bring it class, please. Good instuctor all in all.

Neil is hilarious. He takes time to make the class comfortable, there's always some good laughs. He's passionate about his work, and loves working with students. Some of the discussions in class were off topic, but they keep the class interesting. Take a class with him.

Neil Kennedy is one of the top Shakespearian scholars in the western world and a man who has established a formidable reputation on the stage. He brings this excellence to the classroom. A recent equestrian accident will curtail his tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company but he will reprise his critically acclaimed role as Yorrick this summer.

He is a very nice teacher, who cares about his students, just try. He is loud and passionate about teaching, sometimes a bit unorganized but i really enjoyed his class. Few midterms couple essays and weekly quizs, his setup for this class is really put together each assignment worth something adding to the whole mark.

N.Kennedy has a very loud personality that makes his class fun. For people who are offeneded easily it might be a bit abrasive, but i find his teaching style to be vigorous, interesting and stimulating. He is very funny and knows his shakespeare. very good class so far.

Nice guy, knowledgeable in his feild, but somewhat socially retarded & disorganized. His lectures are fun, informative, but his loud personality often offends students. He also LOVES meetings. This on its own is fine, but is frusterating when they're mandatory and outside of class time. Reasonable marker, fair essay topics, yucky quizzes.

He reads this, so HI NEIL. He teaches the content affectively, but his delivery often leaves much to be desired. If he could keep his humor and wit in check, life would be a lot smoother. I still recommend the course, but if you get offended easily, then avoid Neil. Good course, smart prof, just needs to learn boundaries.

Dont take him if you can't handle sarcasim, or if you hate being around loud people. He is very loud, and a little ****ed. But he is a good teacher, on essays he gives you tons of time to write it, then he marks them and lets you fix the mistakes and then hand them in again. his 1202 is about WAR. i would take him again.

Neil Kennedy epitomizes a great Shakespeare scholar. He is witty, humourous, and is very devoted to both his students and English education at Kwantlen. His marking scheme is fair, detailed and his attitude is great. I have very much enjoyed this class and would recommend it to anyone who asked. Thank you very much, Neil for a wonderful semester.

Neil is a great english teacher, not the typical im better then you type. he is very helpful and gives lots of time and direction for essays. He is loud, but his class is fun and i didn't find him **** at all. I would take him again, he is better then any of the other english teachers, 1202 is about WAR and its actaully interesting.

Mr. Kenndy is ridiculously intelligent and kind hearted. His dedication to students is genuine and his sense of humour is very unique. My best advice to those who are taking Mr. Kennedy is to just lighten up.

One of the best english 1100 teachers. Made English fun, which isn't easy to do...loved his stories and the way he organized the class....this was one class that I will never forget...He teaches english the way it is suppose to be taught. Great professor and respectfult towards his students.

I honestly never wanted to take another English Course until I had Neil as a prof. He wants the best for his students, which can be a rarity these days. Neil gets a solid A++ from me, and is a great choice for anyone who wants to benefit from an English course.

Neil is a good teacher and offers help to those who ask for it. After writting essays he returns them and gives you a chance to correct them. There is not much homework involved. Its mostly in class essays.Which is nice. He is a little intimidating at first but he grows on you. Overall he's a nice guy. If you follow his advice you'll do fine.

He makes it interesting

He is a very tough marker, which can be a bit disheartening because you feel like nothing is good enough for him. He does have your best interest at heart but a lot of the time he makes you want to give up.

Neil is an awesome teacher. Personality is slightly strange but as a teacher, excellent. You get 2 shots at editing your essays before they're marked so its not too difficult to do well.

An awsome teacher. Makes class very interesting. You learn a lot from his class. Is very helpful and is available during office hours. Has some pop-quizes in the begaining and end end of semester. The essays you write for him are not that hard. He helps you in your essays by explaining what your mistakes are. I would really recomend taking him.

Neil made me actually look forward to an English class. He will make you a better writer. He will challenge you. He will give you many opportunities to improve your work. If you listen to his advice, you *will* get a better grade and learn to be a better writer. It's that simple. The best professor I've had yet, period.

Mr. Kennedy is hillarious! This is the only class in my semester I didn't skip. He gives you three chances to make your essay good and his comments boost your grade if you follow them. He is weird in a good way that will make time in class go by so fast. Whoever'll take this class will really enjoy his randomness and his dramatics!

Neil makes his classes quite enjoyable; he's very entertaining. I don't know what to say about his marking scheme, as his was my first college course, I have nothing to compare it to. Like I said, though, he makes class quite enjoyable, and he is a great guy. If you take his class be ready to spend much time in his office, he likes visitors!

This teacher is one of the best English teachers i have ever had. He is funny, and he gives you chances to write an essay if you missed one of his classes-very linient. Also, he reads your essays, and then allows you to change any mistakes, and then he grades them. He will give you quizzes, but they are not very hard at all. Take HIM!!!

He's an awesome professor. He cares alot about his studrents and genuinely wants them to do well. I would take him again if I could. I would recommend him to any first year english student, as his classes are both easy and fun, and hes not the least bit intimidating. He talks alot about his personal life, but the stories are pretty funny.

Neil is a good english teacher overall. I wouldn't say this is an easy class by any means, unless you are just really good at english- but he is a fair marker, and is quite clear in what he wants. Very funny man as well.

The best teacher I have ever had at Kwantlen. If you're passionate about English, TAKE A CLASS WITH NEIL. I actually WANTED to be in class. There was not a boring moment. He goes over all of your papers with you and is ALWAYS available for office hours. Obviously you have to put in a lot of effort, but its worth it!

Great prof. Great guy. He is fun, very enthusiastic about his material, and has the best interests of his students at heart. He is approachable, and will help you with ideas, writing, or another bump you may encounter along the way. If you want to learn, want to be challenged, and want to be engaged, take Kennedy's class! He is amazing and one of my favourites! I missed multiple classes due to health issues and emergencies and he was more than willing to help me catch up and make up assignments. He has a very sarcastic sense of humour but don't take him seriously. However, very heavy reading loads & frequent quizzes. You CANNOT survive this class if you slack!

Neil is a hilarious professor, who really strives to make his classes interesting and engaging. He really wants to see his students succeed. Neil is a challenging marker, but is always willing to go over your papers in detail during his office hours. Be prepared to work hard - he challenges each student to become a better writer.

Class was always interesting. Very friendly guy. He is straight up and honest with all students from the start. Marks hard but fair. Can take a little long to return work, but the essays are marked thoroughly. Very approachable and will give you advice on what to do do to fix your essays. Keeps the class loose with humour

He's not easy, but why should he be for ENGQ 1099? You HAVE to be prepared for 1100, and this is how he does it. Just have good examples, and back them up. Details! Very simple. He is helpful, just don't get cocky. Simple as that! Before him, I never knew how to write a proper essay. You'll learn a lot!

Simply put, Kennedy is the best of the best. He schedules appointments with every student to help improve their writing, he is hilarious, and he really seems to care about every one of his students. You will not find a more interesting and devoted professor. I highly recommend him :D.

When I took his course I did relatively well getting with Cs C+ and B-s. but at the final I was still at risk of failing. This guy marks way too hard - but I guess all 1099 pros do. If u can I I recommend you retake English 12. You'll have better chance of getting a B in Eng 12 than getting a c in this class

This Prof is one of the best profs I have had for english, he is a very fair marker and it easy to get a B or higher in this class. I have taken english at Kwantlen before and I always ended up with a C but in this class I got a B+, there is alot of work and reading to do but overall it was a good class.

Neil is one of the best teachers at Kwantlen. He really puts in the time and effort to make sure his students succeed. It does require a lot of work however, he is extremely helpful and tells you how to improve. His class is worth spending the tuition, you'll pass the class as long as you do the work.

I found Neil to be a great teacher! He was recommended to me and I would take his course again. He was a little slow with the marking, but that was due to the fact that he had to take on another class unexpectedly after the semester started. He gives strengths and weaknesses for every thing, and recommendations for the next draft.

teacher was alright He does pros and cons on papers, BUT the pros were the same. He's terrible with marking which screwed the class over b/c we had 2 make time 4 him during our busy schedule, N when we could not make it outside the schedule we be screwed. if he knew that that the xtra class would affect his other classes he shouln't have taken it

Extremely slow marker, we still don't know our marks for the last essay, or the final and its been two weeks since the final. Do not get on his bad side or that is where you will stay the entire semester,picks on you constantly. He wants you to learn the material and do good...tries to be funny. Lives in his office,lies, but still interesting guy:)

Pros to Kennedy: he takes time for EVERY student on EVERY assignment, he gives quites good advice on how to raise your mark, he is very funny (although his humour offends some), and really knows the material. Cons to Kennedy: tons tons tons of reading, quite a confusing marker. Got only B- even though I followed everything he said to get an A.

Amazingly good at teaching. didn't know someone could be so good. He made me love both shakespeare and chaucer whom i both hated previously. He makes his points well, too well in some cases,and sure he gives things back late, but he accepts things late and is fairly kind about it. Best English teacher on the market.

This guy is by far the best english professor at KPU. His lectures are engaging, fun, and filled with humour. He knows alot about english and is always there for you if you need help. I would recommend him if you want to learn, but not if you are lazy and put effort in.

He is a very funny teacher, he made me laugh all the time. He has a good sense of humor. He is understanding if you have personal reasons as to why you missed class or an assignment. He is a tough marker, he will make you work for it. Prepare for your essays to be marked up with corrections, which can be seen as a pro.

Neil is literally so funny. However, he is super tough in marking and will make you work for it. He does not go according to schedule so you have to make sure to pay attention to what is due. He does annoying quizzes which sometimes i do not understand the purpose of. He makes you come to his office for simple questions. Not an easy class.

Prof. Kennedy is pretty easy as a teacher but his instructions are sometimes unclear. we don't get a rubric for essay writing. He will remember your name forever and talks about almost everything other than english for majority of the class. He will giive you good feedback!

Neil Kennedy is a gem. He's kind of disorganized, and wont respond to an email, but if you make time to go see him, he will spend hours working with you till you understand. He's funny and passionate about his work, and only wants his students to succeed. If you take his advice and visit him, you can't fail.

Had Mr.N.P.K as a first year, first semester English 1100 prof. I feel he is fair, kind, and caring towards his students. His end goal is ultimately to strengthen ones English ability, and if you take his class you surely will come out stronger than before.

Lots of readings (which should be expected in 2nd year English class), although I actually found it more work than my 3rd year classes! Funny man; sometimes has uncomfortable jokes but I think that just goes along with his sense of humor. The only complaint I have is the lectures. Don't have much room for peer to peer collab. But nonetheless, fun.

While I did learn a lot in Neil's class, he is impossible to please. I am an A/B english student and my grades were extremely poor. He likes one style of essays and that's it, if you stray from that you'll fail. As well his tests are impossibly to study for, unless you memorise hundreds of pages of medieval/renaissance epic poems.

A really good prof! The class if difficult, but he's a fair marker, and gives lots of small assignments. There are weekly quizzes but always chances to earn bonus marks. I've taken him in other classes too, and by far my fave!

Attend class, follow instructions, participate, visit the learning center if you must, and take notes. Btw, he always lets the class know what the "pop quizzes" will be on. Final exam is writing an essay, and summarizing an article .. literally what you'll be practicing for during the ENTIRE semester. I don't understand the negative reviews.

My favourite prof at KPU! I've had 3 classes with Neil, and he's the most interesting person I've had the pleasure of knowing. He's super inspiring, and actually the reason I decided to major in English. I highly recommend taking a class with Neil before graduating. Yes, there's a lot of work (but it's university lol). 10/10 would recommend!!

He offers very entertaining lectures. Hes quite humorous. I always went to class, even when I was not feeling 100%. Hes always considerate of students and conveys compassion where needed. He was always patient with the difficult/rowdy students. 100% would take a class with him in the future!

Personally, I loved Neil as a professor. He was a tough grader but if you take the time to talk and ask him questions he is really helpful and wants his students to do well. Some Inappropriate jokes thrown around but it makes the class go by quicker if you have any sense of humour����

He's a tough grader, for sure. However, to the ppl complaining about the 9 essays; he literally just asks you to make small corrections to each draft (like develop/discuss more or work on the thesis). It was helpful that he broke it down like that, and the rewrites seldom took more than 30 mins to an hour. And yes, he has a wacky sense of humour:)

Neil is by far my favorite prof at KPU. I am currently taking a second course with him. He definitely has a lot of quirks but with the right sense of humor, that only makes his class more enjoyable. He is VERY loud and theatric, but being a student with ADHD, that made his class so much more accessible/easy for me because its hard NOT listen to him

I just wanted to express my condolences for Professor Kennedy since he passed away on June 5th this year. For all the students who had a positive experience with him, please cherish it. RIP Professor Kennedy. I took his 17th Century Lit class in 2019 to prepare for UBC's BEd program. It was my first time taking an upper year English class in university but he made it great.
