Neil is amazing! Early morning class I would have slept through if it weren't for him being so animated and fun to listen to. It made me interested in economics which I thought was impossible. I'm taking it with him again, because he makes it fun. Definitely recommend this prof!!
he is the best teacher i have ever had thru my entire life....great energy when he teaches....good sense of humor as well!
Stubborn teacher who does not allow for discussion or difference of opinion because he is "always right" - DESPITE claiming he is "always open to discussion!" If he does not share your point of view, good luck with your tests and assignments! - wastes massive amounts of time with his lame, LAME, jokes - loud and obnoxious.
I took him for two semisters, back in the summer and also this semister. He teaches ok, his notes are very good notes (like summaries). Cons: not very much peer to peer discussion, take notes the entire class, strict rules about writing exams (ie: only 1 pen or pencil, 1 eraser and thats it)
His classes are extremely boring and seem to go on forever. We spend the entire class taking notes and listening to endless rants by Roberts. If you're looking for an instructor who does more than spew out textbook notes onto the overhead, look elsewhere.
he's Grrrrreat!...best instructor ever
he's awesome! best instructor ever seen...
He is not a bad professor. He always trys hard to explain things to students. He is a little humors too somethings.
As far as Kwantlen teachers go, he's better than nine out of ten.
I had Neil for 1250 and i gotta say he is one of the best teacher's at Kwanlten. Just go to every class and do your homework and you should get a good grade. I recommend him to anyone taking ECON.
He is easily one of the best profs at kwantlen right now. Easy marker and will die of old age before he lets someone go without understanding.
Absolutely terrible instructor. He explains the material in class, but then his tests and assignments have very little to do with what was taught. Extremely hard marker as well. Questions are out of 3 marks and he won't give part marks. Either you get it or you dont. Would NOT recommend unless you like wasting your money on GPA killer courses.
His assignments and quizess are very different from what he teaches. To succeed in this class, study the whole book and if you don't understand something, make sure you go to him beforehand and he is very helpfull. The project helps a lot in getting a better grade, otherwise I would've gotten a c.
Very lenient about students' punctuality. Talks very loud in lectures. Willing to help students during office hours. His exams consist of very few questions with each one worth a lot of marks. If you get one wrong, you lose a lot of marks. Must study and know everything by heart to do well on exams.
the worst professor eva...asking for help make sure he's not having a bad day, else he'll take it all out on you.class is so boring as it's all about him...he wants you to share views but it's all about him.the 1st day in class u'll have fun...later u'll cry.wastes alot of time with his lame, LAME, jokes - loud and obnoxious.
Neil Roberts is a horrible teacher! This class was a joke his notes are just definitions and you cant use them to study and the textbook is even more complicated. He offers help but it's still doesn't make sense. His tests are HARD! and his assignments are so long and only worth 10 marks. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone! Try to avoid if you can!
This is one of the worst instructors I've had. Just awful--thinks too much of himself. Doesn't clearly answer any questions.Expects everything memorized.Barely gives marks, assignments are too difficult.Exams are ridiculous.
This is one of the worst instructors that I've had so far! Assignments are easy nothing like the midterms only 3. Explains things over and over that aren't on the tests then rushes to get through material.
Neil is one of the best profs I have had at Kwantlen. He is enthusiastic, entertaining and helpful. I enjoy his lectures. His tests are kinda hard but not unreasonable. Only thing I don't like is the hand written notes. Take good notes and study. The textbook isn't too helpful. He drinks a lot of coffee.
Well Niel to say the least is not helpful....you will ask him well before the exam for help and he will not give it to you....he expects you to know this stuff like you have a PHD in Economics....frankly I thought he was quite unfair and makes students believe that they can actully do well in his class only to fail them over 2% yes thats right 2%!
HE IS HORRIBLE! He uses his own notes that he does not share, and they don't even involve a majority of the concepts in the textbook! His tests are so HARD! The class started off with 32 people, and ended with 11! Due to the fact that he cannot teach!
He is BORING! 90% of the class leaves during the break, cause they are unable to stay awake any longer! He makes macro a waste of time, money and energy. He doesnt even provide you with legit notes, and the few notes that he does provide do not include half the info! He is the worst teacher I have ever come across. I hope he gets fired.
He is very confusing!!!He talks loud just to get your attention. Even though u're paying attention, u wouldn't know what he's talking about!!Don't take him, more than half of the class failed!!Waste of money & waste of time. His quizzes are so hard!!He enjoys it when everyone fails!!
He is nice to everyone and fun loving guy. Easy, outgoing, helpful and understand the problems. You can ask help as many times as you want. He never behave like irritated ones. Midterms are easy, but Quizessss are hard....Overall say,recommended....Good job Neil, keep it up
Really nice guy and very fun to listen to. His notes are great and he does tons of examples! As long as you come to class you should do fine. He gives lots of worksheets so you can practice everything he teaches. His quizzes and tests are very fair. He even gives bonus questions! I will definitely take one of his classes again!
Horrible teacher. Neil himself is an alright guy but he cant teach economics at all. His examples and notes are useless. The study guide will be your only saviour for his class. The worst thing is that its not mandatory. IF YOU TAKE THIS GUY YOU NEED THE STUDY GUIDE TO PASS!!!!!! But if you want my real opinion, stay away from this guy.
Neil is a great prof! He gave really clear notes, did in-class exercises and gave homework that was exactly like the quiz/short answer sections of the tests. As long as you go to class and copy the notes you don't even need to read the text. If you pay attention, this class will be a breeze. I wish I could have taken Neil for ECON 1210 too.
Neil is a nice guy, but he can be confusing at times. He believes talking loud will get his point across. He takes notes and examples straight out of the text book, so you're better off just reading it yourself. Midterms are a little tough but if you spend a good time studying you will do well.
Neil is a really great teacher. I had him for 1150 and I specifically chose his class b/c I like his teaching style. He gives lots of examples and worksheets and his exams are not always easy but completely fair. As long as you study the textbook and your notes, you'll do fine. He can be a bit loud and he paces a lot but he's a total character.
Neil believes that the louder he talks, THE BETTER YOU UNDERSTAND. He doesn't explain how he arrived at answers very well, and his tests are extremely difficult. (He did give many bonus marks just for attempting questions so the whole class did not fail. The highest midterm mark was 77%)
Awesome Prof! this guy explains stuff really well, hes energetic and extremely helpful if you ever have a question. however, tests are hard, i had to work extremely hard to grasp all the concepts and do well on the tests.
Horrible teacher. He sets you up to fail, especially on his exams. He expects you to get questions wrong on exams and states it as well. He yells alot too so expect to jump a couple times. I have never gotten a bad mark at Kwantlen, but this guy had no problem dishing them out. Do not take him at all unless you want to fail.
Terrible Teacher. Condescending. Takes any chance he can to screw you over. Notes and in-class examples don't match assignments and tests. Very arrogant and is always right. Brags about how he uses questions right out of the book, yet doesn't explain those subjects. Very Frustrating.
Horrible teacher. In class notes and lectures are inconsistent with assignments and exams. Class average for the first midterm was 53%, second midterm average was too horrible to say. Don't take.
Im a 4th year student and out of all the teachers i have had niel was the worst. consistently wastes class time and doesn't prepare students for the exams.let us know first midterm average was 53 although second was so bad he was embarrassed to say i am guessing 30%. thoughtless "group" assignments and projects that he marks hard.
Very very difficult marker. Takes marks away for the craziest things.
Great econ professor. He knows his stuff. His classes are so much fun. Neil gives lots of examples in class which makes you understand the topics. The quizzes and assignments are easy and good for marks. Very good econ prof
Overall neil was a great, friendly, helpful teacher. I had him for both Micro and Macro economics this semester and although his jokes become very repetitive he was still a solid teacher. Very textbook based class with simple math and graph applications. Not to difficult and easy outline of small amount of quiz's and assignments. would recommend.
He bumps into things a lot while he walks around class. Class average was around 50% but I seemed to do alright. He will help if you seek it
Neil is a pretty tough marker with high expectations. If you read the textbook before each class and do all the assignments and class exercises, you will pass his class with a good grade. Other than that, the force is strong with this one.
Extremely hard teacher. Acts like its okay to give bad grades. Second midterm average was well below 50%. If you have the option, don't take his class.
Neil was by far the most stressful professor I ever had. I was doing OK in the course but I had to drop it; I couldn't stand him any-more. He has a very arrogant personality & gets frustrated when a student does not grasp a concept as soon as he'd like. Unless you read the textbook and memorize everything, I see it impossible getting an A
Not at all specific about why things happen. Tests do not reflect what is talked about in class. Thinks yelling gets the point across.
Neil is like, not a good prof. He talks about wierd stuff thats barely related to class and would put that in exam too. He yells at students. He's annoying. Don't take his class. His summary notes are awful and he would tell u go thru them for exam but exam would be far far away from summary notes. Ew.
Neil Roberts was by far the worse teacher I've had. He was extremely demeaning towards me whenever I came for tutorials as I somewhat struggle with math. He did not clarify anything and all he did was get frustrated and make derogatory comments towards the class. Would definitely not recommend.
Neil was a good teacher, his lectures were a little long but very informative in terms of the class. He gave good examples that were clear. I went to him for help and he didnt just give me the anwsers, he made me understand it. His midterms were straight forward and just like his assignments. Final was tough, its a must study, but only worth 30% .
He is an awesome teacher but you really have to pay attention. Do not go on your phone, write everything down and review it later. This class takes work, its not an easy concept but he explains it well if you're willing to take the time. He also provides you with chapter questions that count for marks and explains them after. youll be well prepared
He yells at the class a lot, and tumbles on things. He's pretty funny and nice once you get to know him.
Great prof, super funny and goes over the slides of each chapter really well with great examples. Be in class for the In Class Exercises because they are identical to the assignments. Exams are usually 60% short answer, 40% MC. Know the slides INSIDE AND OUT. Overall really good prof. also dont be late cuz hell stare at you and make u uncomfortable
Online assignment just has 24 hours to finish. Only 20 mins and one attempt.
I got a 4.2 GPA on 5 classes including calc 2 this semester. This class was the only one I didn't get an A+ In, so this is a credible review. He will help you when you ask but he will tell you your stupid for asking and get mad. Test one, breeze. Test two, bomb. Final, mediocre. He throughs questions you have never seen before on the test. AVOID!!
Neil's lectures are very informative, but they will leave you constantly staring at the clock wishing for it to be over. Because of this, I couldn't focus properly and had to self teach myself the entire course. I didn't like his teaching style. His mid terms are easy if you study enough, and in-class exercises are the same work in the short answer
Neil Roberts is very rude, puts down students when they ask questions. He rambles on and on, reads everything straight from the powerpoints. Isn't very good at explaining at all and gives an overload of information each class. His tests are hard...40% MC and 60% wrriten format. Avoid at all costs, trust me save your gpa!!
VERY lecture heavy I can not stress that enough. He can go through 30 slides within like 10 minutes if no questions asked. each class is a lot to take in, so studying is mandatory. Not a big fan of his way of teaching; can put someone to sleep.
At the beginning of each class Neil goes over notes from previous class and leaves time for questions. Tests are quite difficult but if you study lots and go in for help you should do fine. Use MyEconLab practice questions to study. In class exercises are usually on tests. All notes and in class exercises are posted online. He likes to tell jokes.
He is really rice and patient but the material is heavy. He tries to explain as clearly as possible. really like to help students no matter in class or outside class. But you have to study hard for econ. A lot of Exams. In class exercises would be very helpful for the exams
Show up. Pay attention. Do the in class exercise. Read the PPt. You will be fine!
His online quizzes become available for 24 hours as soon as the class ends. All other classes usually give you the entire week to do it. I was always busy after class so Im never able to do it. What really annoyed my was after he says something he asks any questions? and if he doesnt get a physical response hell just stand there.
He's a decent teacher. 2 midterms were fairly straightforward, however the final was very difficult. Show up to class, see him during office hours if you need help and you should do just fine. He tries to trick you in the multiple choice so make sure you understand the main concepts in detail.
Was not at all impressed with his attitude towards students. He taught by yelling the lectures at us, and his 'jokes' often came off as rude or belittling. Went off on tangents, and often made students uncomfortable for menial things. Even though I did well in the class, I found myself not wanting to go because of his style of teaching.
First class i ever took. Funny guy and very easygoing. When he asks a question he expects a verbal answer and will stand there till he gets one, even if its just "yes". do the in class exercise, read the ppt slide, do the online quizzes and youll be find. hes easy to talk to so ask questions. he gives lots of time to review and discuss stuff again
All he does is yell during his lectures. He is rude and makes judgemental facial expressions when someone asks a question during an "odd" time. Will do in class assignments but won't provide answers for it because he says "if he gives the answers then it is an example and we have already gotten too many examples." DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!
This Prof is just not a good professor. Some can actually communicate the knowledge some cant. He is a well educated prof about the subject but a very poor communicator of the content. Very rude guy. Literally yelled the whole lecture for the whole semester. Professors like this make education so much harder. AVOID AT ALL COST.
if you like getting yelled at this is the prof for you, makes you feel dumb, lectures are so boring
Don't take him he just shouts and read the course presentation find another prof
The worst prof u will come across.. he does not come to teach but instead to scream at his students and show off his superiority to them.. its like he is frustrated and he diverts his frustration on his students or he just simply loves to see his students struggle.. save yourself.. there are many profs who make econ easy for u but not him..
Welcome to a jungle.. where you will be screamed and yelled at.. and greatly pay for it yet receive no support.. this prof should do anything but not teach cuz he doesnt know how to.. by taking him u waste ur money and gpa and time.. take other profs who respect students and care for them.
Stay away from this prof if possible. Reads off slides very fast, doesn't care how well you do, extremely hard midterms and impossible final. Not helpful at all in-office hours and gets mad if you don't understand a concept. Attendance is a must or you will fail. Avoid prof and take it with a different one.
Not a good professor.. does not know how to teach .. avoid at all cost and save your gpa.. there are many better macro profs at KPU who teach for teaching not for mocking their students just like this prof does..
By far the worst professor I've ever had. Don't take his class, you're better off learning on your own because all he will do is YELL the textbook at you & make you feel stupid for asking any questions. Not compassionate at all and frankly a very lazy prof. Honestly a disgrace to professors and made the fascinating subject of Economics so horrible.
He believes students MUST know everything he is about to lecture and whatever he lectures is presumed super easy so any question you ask better be a billion dollar one or else you will be humiliated in front of the whole class, also yells at students at times. Worst professor you can ever have.
the proffersor is good, provide good feedback and arrange weekly quizzes.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. TRUST ME, YOU WOULD THANK ME LATER.
This professor is lazy
Legitimately does not care about student's success in the course
Taking his class will make you hate economics. Will just read through his ppt and according to him you're suppose to know everything. If you ask him question be ready to get humiliated. Save your GPA, do not take this professor, take my advice.
DON'T TAKE IT. Give you an ear full, scolding and angrily yelling. You will feel dumb. Will pause and say belittling "any questions?!?!" Doesn't add insightful information in lecture, reads and summarizes slides. Tricky multiple choice questions for midterms and finals. The class average was low.
Not really a rude guy but he will stop class and stare at you until you apologize for being late. Has a decent sense of humor and tries to make class enjoyable. will be quizzes but there are inf tries. Only downfall is his exams, all questions are not straightforward and will try and trick you. Really tests your knowledge and deeeper understanding.
If you ask him for help he will help you. To do good on his assigments and exams you need to show up and ask lots of questions, his exams are simular to the practice he gives out so just make sure you get help on that overall a pretty good teacher if you put in the effort
his lectures were NOT helpful at all. kept talking about unrelated topics and not very test related. best advice is to use the Pearson study question LOTS as they help TONS with the quizzes and the tests.
AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN! He is so rude and never listens to the students. He will even teach you after mid terms. It was so hard to pass because he makes things harder. If you are an international student at KPU don't take him. He will spoil your life.
JUST READ AND DO PRACTICES TEXT AND ATTEND CLASS SIMPLE
This professor is someone you do not want to take. All of his lectures are him just summarizing the slide. He does not care to elaborate any concepts. When he does, he will not repeat it without getting mad. He also chooses not to post the worksheet answers online and wants students to come to campus. The class average for first midterm was 60%.
If you take this professor get ready to get shouted and you will get full book in the final exam with 100 mcqs in which you will hardly get 60. He will insult you in front of the whole class if you are late
He super rude to his classmates and doesnt teach properly and goes pretty fast with the course.
I have never had a professor this hard and rude in my 2 years of university. Please do not take this course if you are ready to struggle and deal with a lot of stress.
He's damn bad professor of my entire life. Does not grade good and not even give grace marks. Very bad. If you want to pass, dont get this professor even by mistake
Prof is extremely knowlegable and passionate about the course. Use the textbook software for practice questions to do well on the tests.
