He was by far the best teachers ive ever had at nait! if you go to class and do your assignments its easy marks he treats you like adults and is always there to help when ever you need it! he tries very hard to get to know his students! i hope to have him again
Very well informed instructor, puts in extra effort to help students succeed.
My classmates in his class are a lot better than me but I never felt Im left behind. He makes sure that everybody can follow. He is a great encourager,he can lift one's spirit up. I could really feel he teaches by heart.Im an international student, there were times I felt like quiting but he can make me stay.
My classmates in his class are a lot better than me but I never felt Im left behind. He is a great encourager,he is gifted in lifting one's spirit up. Im an international student, new in canada and Im having trouble with my studies,I felt like quitting but he can make me stay. I could really feel he teaches by heart, I feel really blessed!
I love his class and I never miss it class because he not only makes the class interesting but also gets everybody involved in learning by making funny jokes. God bless this teacher :) not to mention "he is hot"
Great instructor, helpful review classes (actually told what to study for the exam and what not), always available for extra help, cool and fun guy to talk to you.
Great teacer, he was extremely helpful and really nice. Very supportive of students afraid of speaking for presentations. Get this teacher if you can
great teacher, get to know him. he treats you like a normal person. easy class, easy grades.
Always fun to talk to. He's pretty straight forward with his expectations follow that and you're good.
Direct, to the point and makes class interesting. Makes himself available and is approachable. Obviously he enjoys teaching. Plus, he's 'hot' :D.
Best Prof I've had; he'll make you a better writer. REALLY clear with his expectations, always available to help you. Treats you like an adult.
Knows his stuff and wants to see his students succeed. Very approachable and always clear in what he expects of you. Not only is he a great instructor but he's sooooo hot!!!!
Not helpful at all. Ask him simple questions about how much something is worth. Tells you to go look it up and it's not even there
I took it Jan 2014 and remember it being lots of work for essays. Final exam was easier than I thought. I did better than expected. I had a few online courses and can compare different online teachers. Average good input. Not bad. I know he helped students in my group. I never contacted for help but group other students asked and received.
He is super nice and has a great personality. He easily commanded attention of the class, and was clear in explaining material. He encourages all of his students and I think he really makes an effort to give everyone a lot of opportunity to be successful in his class. He makes himself available for help. Would take class with him again.
Neil was a great teacher. I thought his attitude was motivating and encouraging. If I had the opportunity I would have him as my instructor every time. 1010 and this is coming from someone who hates everyone. Winter 2015 Get a raise or something.
Pretty fair guy. As long as you show up, participate and are respectful its pretty hard not to pass his classes. Can be a little vague at times but usually pretty good at helping you with clarity if you bother to go out of your way. Do you're work and you're golden.
Good but very unclear
UNREAL prof. He got me over my fear of public speaking by encouraging me and giving great feedback. He will make you a better writer. He is totally willing to give you extra time for help and questions. Make an effort and he will notice.
Not a clear course. Is very very very strict
Saxon loves to help people get over their fear of public speaking, but overall it was a FUN class. Memorize anything in the book with a list or chart and you should be good. He had us do a group project where we got together outside of campus, took pictures and had to show it to the class. Valuable life lessons learned here. SAX-A-FACTS are life.
Neil is somewhat scatterbrained, but he does know his material and is in general a very motivational and supportive prof. I just found that he would repeat himself a lot, and change his mind a lot... He does like to encourage participation and seems to prefer the people in his class who speak up.
Seriously. So. Hot. & a very professional. I look forward to his class.
On the first day he comes off pretty strong - but it's because he doesn't put up with bs. Get past the first week and you're golden. Actually wants to help students with public speaking. Great instructor overall. And have I mentioned how handsome he is? :p
He's a decent teacher although a little scatter-brained at times. The group project instructions weren't clear and were not on moodle. He doesn't post grades there either. Enjoys class participation. Tests aren't overly difficult if you read the material over.
He's a very good teacher! Although he's a bit strict, its just because he want us to act professional and take the course seriously in order to pass
He is the best teacher/mentor I had in all my years at NAIT. He does give a lot of projects that he forgets about which is frustrating, contradicts himself, but definitely is there to answer your questions and make sure you are in business for business. Attendance in class and a little studying on the side will get you a easy 90%. He is the best.
One of the best teachers NAIT has. I strongly recommend him.
Neil is one of the best teachers I've ever had, he's hard on you because he cares. He gives really inspirational life facts. He's always on track with his lessons, always makes you do examples so you can always remember it. I used to to be so scared of public speaking but this class made me grow out of it! He's awesome!
Great teacher, very difficult course but he made it very easy for us by being strict and telling us exactly what is expected
Neil was a great instructor. I definitely recommend him. He comes off strict and tough at first, but is really a nice, caring guy who loves to push his students to do their best. Although he often assigns work and forgets about it, his class is worth taking.
Neil is a very acknowledgeable instructor who inspires his students in every way. Very approachable, helpful and caring professor. Best Instructor I have ever had. 100% recommended.
The most committed instructor I have ever had. take his class if you can. you won't regret it.
very fair guy. take him if you can.
Neil is an incredible instructor. His teaching style is definitely different than others, but all his lessons are memorable. There is a lot of group work in the class but as long as you participate and show up to class you're good. He is very approachable if you have any problems and is always there to help clarify subjects.
Great teacher. Cares about your grades and will help you so long as you show you are invested and take yourself seriously. Very hard nit-picky marker, but COMM1101 is an introductory course, so he is probably just trying to make a point. Highly recommend.
Heavy course load, but you will get good marks if you invest the time in your work.
Warning: THIS IS NOT AN EASY COURSE. Neil will make you work really hard & he is a very tough marker. However, he is also such a kind & supportive prof that you can always reach out. I have nothing but positive experience with him. He always answers emails promptly & he would look into what you said. I'd say he goes the extra mile for his students.
For a first year course, he's a little tough But hes straight to the point, blunt and real with students. He gives you the sense that he cares by giving attentive feedback. Some dont take well to that as it is always honest, but in reality it is much needed. Real life prep. To be totally honest he gives it to you as is and leaves it at that.
Neil is overall the best teacher i have ever had. He is kind and supportive. He understands his students as well as he knows how to teach. He is funny and he covers all of the topics necessary. I would definitely take his class again.
This was one of my first classes here at NAIT. I was terrified and he made it worse... he will push you to go outside your comfort zone and it sucks at the time but when you push yourself and succeed you feel great! He makes lectures a little more entertaining and I mean have you seen the man!?! HOTNESS! You will for sure pay attention in class!
He warns you on the first day of this class that this class is work. It is, BUT Neil is always willing to help out his students. If you ask for clarification or need guidance, he will always be willing to help you out! This course is challenging and there's heavy workload, but Neil can always help you through it. Would 100% recommend him.
Before the first class, i was afraid because i saw there were a lot of bad comments under him. Today is my last MGMT class, and my classmates made a surprise for him, because we really like Neil. He cares about us, and let us do more case study instead of focusing the textbook only. He always give us very good feedback, and his quiz is so easy!
Neil Saxon is an amazing instructor! Since starting at Nait, I've had plenty of instructors, but never have I encountered an instructor like Neil. He is truly inspiring, brings the best in you and always believes in you even when you don't. He encourages us to always better ourselves and he makes class that much more fun. Also resembles Tony Stark!
the material is very dry but he makes it interesting and easy for you. he really helps you understand the course and how to manage the studying part I missed a lot of classes at first and later regreted not going cause the chapters I read alone were just so much harder so I suggest go to class it makes a huge difference.
Neil is the most passionate teacher I have had so far at NAIT. He makes the materials interesting as he uses real life scenarios while teaching. He gives honest and fair feedbacks. He is the kind of teacher who will push you to do great. Overall, he is an awesome teacher!
Only take his class if you want to achieve, better yourself, and get the best life advice. He not only covers what the course intends, he also gives Sax-A-Facts that are useful if you want to succeed!!
One of my favorite professors Ive had. If you participate in class alot hell definitely like you alot. Hes very caring and passionate about teaching students and has a good sense of humor as well. He was very strict the first day and hes intimidating but he definitely warms up after. He has good things to say about everyone and hes very nice.
Neil is kind and very approachable. Gives you necessary feedback to improve on other work. The class itself isnt the best but he makes it tolerable. Lots of group activities and papers which he marks fairly leniently. Would recommend taking this course with him. Can be a little unorganized leading to confusing deadlines and expectations
One of my favorite professors. He will make you participate in class. Hes very passionate about teaching students and has a good sense of humor as well. He was very intimidating at first but he definitely warms up after. He validates your presence.
He is easy to meet with outside of class, he is approachable and very kind. I highly recommend him as a teacher. He made this class interesting and always takes out the time to help his students
Neil is a caring instructor who wants to see you succeed. He isnt a difficult marker, and if you should have any questions he will absolutely make time for you. If he doesnt respond back to emails the same day, be sure to send them again, he is a busy guy. Assignments can be confusing at times, so be sure to ask questions!
This prof was very kind and responded quickly to emails. There were a lot of papers involved as well as a large group paper but he was a very easy marker. It felt daunting at first but the papers themselves were very easy to write. We barely used the book at all so I would just borrow it from the library and photocopy the info you need!
he is a good writer plus he is a very ethical guy. Recommend him
Had to choose between Neil and Adam. Majority people suggested Adam and told me Neil is tough. Im glad I chose Neil over Adam! Had Adam for another course and it was awful. Neil is the best professor you can get. If you have to choose like me, go for Neil! You wont regret for sure.
Amazing prof!! Educated, honest, keeps things interesting. Textbook is only used to study for quizzes. highly recommend him
You will pass this class for sure. Just don't miss any. He is amazing and really experienced. Oh, and he's good looking as well.
Neil is awesome! A subject that is pretty dry he manages to make very interesting. He makes you want to come to class. Will know every students name by the 2nd week, and cares about each person in the room. He is inspiring and makes you want to do your best. Love the sax-o-facts! Tests can be a little trickier than assignments, use the textbook.
He seems intimating at first but is super nice and I understood him clearly for a lot of the course.
Neil is maybe the kindest and generous teachers I've had in my life who really cares for his students. He takes the time to know everyone and respects EVERYONE, no matter if they are messing up. But if you have anxiety around presentations (as I do) this class will be very very difficult for you. Although lots of textbook memorization beware!!!
Neil is a great prof and makes class fun and interesting. He makes things really easy to understand with the use of roll playing and examples. By far my favourite professor at NAIT thus far.
Neil is an amazing teacher! He cares about his students and genuinely wants us to succeed. His lectures are very unconventional, as he does not heavily rely on the powerpoints (you will have to READ the textbook and slides yourself to pass the quizzes), however he has conversations with his students. Lots of group work and presentations.
This instructor is one of the best there is. Any of the comments made that do not refer to his teaching are so wrong, unacceptable and undeserved. Neil is an asset to the school and praised by everyone who has been fortunate enough to attend his class.
Neil is super amazing. He's always there for you and willing to help you succeed. He's kind and an excellent teacher. He gave me confidence to pursue what I want in the working field.
You see Neil Saxon while enrolling into classes? Go for it, youll be more than happy to have him as a teacher! He is super amazing! Hes very engaged & respects his students a lot.
Neil was funny, but definitely picks his favorites. Nice guy, seemed to know what he was talking about. Super serious about the group project so majority of semester is spent on that. You gotta teach yourself the rest.
Neil is such a great instructor. He makes the class fun and enjoyable environment. Keep in mind he doesn't tolerate things such as coming to class late without emailing him (he might kick you out), using your phone in class etc.
Neil is one of the best instructors I have had. He is very encouraging and wants to see you succeed. Always willing to help and responds to emails very fast. His class involves a lot of discussion and you will have to present. What I enjoyed most about Neil is that he gives a lot of real-life insight/tangibles/tips you can apply. Take his class.
Neil Saxon has easily become one of my favourite professors at NAIT. At first, he gave off an intimidating vibe but as classes went on, he started to present more of a funny yet serious side. The class is very group-project based! Be prepared for presentations.. etc. Con: Exams rely heavily on the textbook (which is only available via e-Text)...
Neil is one of the best instructors at NAIT; comes off as a little strict, but that is just because he wants you to succeed. PMGT2220 is a difficult course but Neil made it interesting and fun, and made it less difficult with all the great examples he consistently provides. Neil is also a fairly understanding instructor!
Taking Project Management with Neil was the best. He is so helpful, and answers all your questions. He really prepares you for what's to come throughout the semester, and for exams. It's group based work, role playing, few reports, and presentations. Be sure to use your time management skills very well while taking this class.
Neil is an intimidating guy but really challenges you. Im so happy I took his class. He gives awesome feedback if he knows you care and wants you to succeed.
Neil cares about his students success. As one of his students, you have to take accountability for your own learning and complete the work as assigned. He provides clear rubrics and usually responds to emails within 24 hours. I would highly recommend him and I wish I could take more classes with him.
Was not his biggest fan. He was very intense at times and not my style of teacher. Did not like phones or people showing up late. would expose u to everyone on the spot. had anxiety going to his class knowing i could be next
Niel is a great guy and a fantastic teacher, both inside and outside the classroom. He doesnt hesitate to help students or reward them for their effort. I personally really appreciated his honesty to students. His teaching was very high quality and major concepts were covered in detail and were easy to understand. You wont regret choosing him.
On the first day he may come off a little intimidating but in reality, he was just setting the expectation for the class. He is unbelievably caring, asked personal details about my life, job, and future plans. He is a great guy and teacher and I would 100% recommend him. It's worth taking the class in a different semester to get him.
Really enjoyed Neil's class. Straight forward, good feedback. Also accommodating during the Covid19 situation and taking into consideration how students cope. Would certainly take him again.
He is caring to his students and super friendly.
He is super easy, always asking if students need help.
Neil is a top instructor at nait. You work for it but he realizes this and you build great respect for each other. If you ask for feedback he will go out of his way to help you. I really, really enjoyed his class even with all the work.
Found him a bit rude.
His lectures were awesome, and engaging. We always talked about interesting topics and he found a way to take personal stories and gear them towards management. He's a chill guy, very helpful and open to questions. Gives quite a bit of assignments but he's a fair marker especially if you are on his good side.
Took this class online. Neil was great and the topics were interesting. He grades fair. Course load was heavy: Textbook reading, 8 journal entries, 1 Harvard SIM, 1 group project, and I didn't like that the midterm and final were replaced with papers. I also didn't like we had to mark 3 other students midterms and finals.
I took an asynchronous management class with Neil and he was amazing. He sent all documents of our projects and deadlines during the first week. Very easy class to follow - 2 case studies, one large group project, 4 quizzes. You get to pick chapters you want to work on as your hw. Clear grading criteria and Neil always sent reminders and news.
The best professor!
One of the best professors I have had in academia. Lots writing and reading to be done but the subject matter sinks in and forces you to think about core concepts. Two papers, multiple journal entries, Harvard SIM and group presentation. Easily accessible if required and a good person who wants students to do well.
Saxon is a great teacher. He might be intimidating at first but as long as you're attending his classes and participating, he is good. He is also big in respect, especially regarding time. He will only discuss important things in the lecture and the rest you have to read by yourself. He also gives breaks in his class.
Great instructor ever.
I greatly disliked having Neil Saxon. I did the math and there was over 900 pages he assigned to my class alone. He has given tiny amounts of feedback on them and people who have missed word counts don't get caught. I believe he isn't even reading the work he assigns because there is so much and his feedback is one word or missing. What a joke.
He gives no feedback. One out of four graded assignments has feedback that just says that I did well, yet my grade is 89% with no critiques. This is an async course, but he does not provide many lectures. Also, you do not need to use the book (text) much. Many better NAIT teachers will be involved in your learning, but he is not.
VERY GOOD PROFESSOR AND GIVES GOOD GRADES. I WISH I COULD TAKE HIM FOR MORE COURSES. CLASSES ARE FUN AND ENGAGING.
I took this class asynchronous and condensed as a summer class. THIS CLASS IS NOT MEANT TO BE CONDENSED. My criticisms of Neil include: - providing rubrics 5 or less days before the assignment is due, - limited resources, including short and inefficient lectures, - unclear instructions and expectations for assignments Would not recommend condensed
He's a tough grader. All he does is assign irrelevant group projects and his teaching skills are not that good. Very overrated professor.
Hands down the best professor I have had at NAIT. His expectations are high, but for a good reason. If you show up to class, do your work, engage in class activities, you will do great. Neil has a great sense of humor too, making his lectures actually fun to attend to.
Super interesting prof who loves generating deep discussions in class.
Professor Saxon is engaging and makes the material fun. Stay on top of the work, use the free textbook, and unstuck study for study prep - you'll do great in this manageable class.
The most AMAZING professor I have ever had, always so welcoming and always makes sure to include everyone. His humor makes class entertaining and fun to attend.
I never wore seatbelt while driving to school because I wanted to die before making it to his class
Neil is amazing - he is very clear about his expectations. Attend class, be on time, participate & you will get a great grade. One thing I really like about Neil is how he shuts down disrespectful student behaviour very quickly (walking in late, whispering to others during lecture, texting during lectures).
Ever worst professor.......He never tells his students about what is he going to do in tomorrow's class. WORST AND WORST . Don't take his class if you want to pass. The grading felt arbitrary, and the lack of transparency made it difficult to trust the process. Would not recommend unless major changes are made.
I don't like this professor due to their own rules and regulations for class. Attend every classes regularly. Be On time. If u even one minute late u got insulted in front of class. Why u people heartless with no feelings. This is not our hobby to get late in your class sometimes unexpected things happens buses delayed etc..
I found Neil to be very fair. He sets expectations early, and will keep you accountable. You should be expecting this from all of your professors! I learned a lot in his class, and I'd be happy to take him for another course. Be sure to choose your groups wisely, and put your best foot forward. His lectures were valuable and he was always available
One of the best profs at NAIT the only lecture I genuinely enjoyed attending this semester he's very passionate about his job and is a great educator
I found this instructor very stressful and not supportive.
Honestly, don't take this instructor — it's just stress, no support.
Too much stress, no support. Would not recommend.
I would not recommend taking this instructor; the experience was not worth the time or cost.
Not worth the time or money — don't take this instructor.
Enrolling in this instructor class felt like a poor use of both time and tuition.
The instructor was an extremely strict grader, and the course did not feel supportive or student-focused.
Not a good instructor—very tough grader and little focus on helping students learn.
Heavy homework and high pressure made this course difficult to manage.
Overall, this class was stressful and not a positive experience.
I would not recommend taking this instructor.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this instructor to other students.
This instructor is not a good choice for students.
avoid this instructor.
I would recommend looking for another instructor.
We tried our best, so receiving low marks was upsetting and demotivating.”
Not very supportive instructor.
carefully considering this instructor, as there are very strict rules, including no flexibility with lateness
Avoid this instructor to save your time and money
May not be a good fit for most students.
Stressful course experience
I regret enrolling and would not recommend it to others.
Do yourself a favor and don't enroll in this professor's class.
Better options are available—consider them first.
I initially thought Project Management would be an easy course, but the instructor made it much more challenging.
course experience was more frustrating than helpful
Other sections offer a more balanced experience
instructor's class felt more punishing than educational
This section felt much harder compared to others.
“I would advise future students to consider other sections.”
Support and flexibility were noticeably lacking
The experience was mentally draining.
Grading felt unpredictable and inconsistent.
Neil is a wonderful instructor and secretly very funny. He can be intimidating at the beginning of the semester because PMGT is a tough course. Put in the work and read your textbook, and listen to what he tells you in class because it will benefit you. Attending class is highly recommended. When it comes to the projects, choose your group wisely!
Neil was great. If you show up and participate in lectures, you will do just fine. He has no patience for people showing up late and he will call you out for that. He seems very intimidating at the start, the quizzes are hard but the group projects were fun and great to do. Made project mgmt interesting.
