Best teacher to take for Comp. I & II. So easy and laid back. He makes the class fun & easy. Easy A class!

Even though it's been 4 years since I took his class, I still think about the one main thing Sebacher focused on ambiguity . What can I say, awesome teacher, great way of teaching, a little sarcastic, but still cool.

This is the best Comp teacher ever. I came from a university and my Comp 1 teach. was no where near great as Seabacher!! Take him!

I took him for 3 different classes. Although I didn't agree with everything he said, he kept the classes interesting enough to get A's. He didn't always have time outside of class to help, but always ran into him on campus.

This is one of the most memorable classes I've had--and one of my favorites. This teacher really puts literature in a new light and we read some great stories. He comes up with some wild interpretations, that's for sure *L*

He is the best teacher I have ever had. The only teacher with whom I will take any class he offers. I am holding off taking Comp II while I wait for my shot to take it under him.

This teacher is so cool. He is fun and really makes you think. He's fun and tells you how it is. Would definately take him again!

Better in Comp 1 than Comp 2. Very free writing prompts in Comp 1. Comp 2 mostly focused on literature analysis. Very interesting lectures. Philosophical.

A lot of long lectures, but he makes it interesting. Very sensitive about attendance and always being prepared to discuss the stories; has some *interesting* interpretations of things and reads mucho into every sentence. Understanding and and neat person.

The most awesome professor I have met. Brilliant teaching skills. Ties all class discussions to development of essay. I wish more professors had the skill he has to teach. If you write well he will reward with proper grade. Take him and grow as a writer.

I would DEFINITELY take him again (in fact, I'll probably be taking World Lit with him)! He helps you not only develop your writing, but helps you develop your mind as well. It makes you think, but not TOO bad...I like that he condones individuality!!!

One of the few experienced teachers in Valencia. Had him for COMP 2, passed with a B.. Makes you think real hard in a sweet way. Esaays are SUPER easy. Cracks jokes. Ready to work with you if you essays are late. Gives you enough time to complete essays.

Great teacher. I wrote some papers that differed from his interpretations, and he still graded fairly. Good thinker. Explores deep things! Good stuff.

I was a bit confused the first day. But after a while, everyone liked him. Each class was different and fun. The only thing I didn't like about his class was we had to purchase the books and we didn't even use them. Otherwise, grear class, great guy.

this is the weirdest coolest guy i have ever met. his essay topics are easy to write about because they all pertain to you. he gives reallly interesting lectures and he is really funny in a weird, make you think, sort of way. he is the best comp 1 teacher if you get lucky enough to get his class, you wnt regret it.

I took this as an honors class. He is the ultimate realist and it comes out in the class. He's so good I'm taking my summer class with him and actually 90% of my current class!

Honors: Professor Sebacher is absolutely incredible. His essay topics are very simple and he's very clear and consice as to what he expects from his students. Show up to class everyday having read the required reading and be prepared to voice your opinions. You will leave this class a better writer and quite possibly a better person!

I loved Sebacher. He's dramatic and crazy. He seems cynical at first but he's really not, it's just part of his teaching.He's absolutely hilarious and the final is and 11 question test about florida senators, Shakespeare plays, our favorite movies and the first atomic bombing in Japan, which did not count towards our grade.I want to take him again!

Intelligent professor. Class was really boring, but I learned a lot which was the true purpose of taking the course. He read during the entire 3 hour class. He has an impressively vast vocabulary, and teaches you how to read into the classic themes of literature. I wouldn't take his class again.

I took the second half of World Lit and it was easy and very informative. Sebacher, though, is not very critical about your writing, which I didn't like. He's also kind of "emo," and tells too many personal stories, but is a pretty cool guy.

ENC 1102 was all literature and I hate literature, but Prof. Sebacher made it easy. He is extremely clear on everything that he is looking for on the essays and is passionate about student's writing. He is REALLY lenient with grading and always adds helpful comments on your paper. Prof. Sebacher is the BEST ENC professor I've ever had!

Probably by far the best teacher at Valencia. This professor moved me in so many ways. He should be teaching at Havard or Yale. We are only so lucky to have him at Valencia. Intimidating at first, because he's spent a lot of time on this literature and knows what he thinks about it. But it's not a case where you have to agree with him to pass. Professor Sebacher is a great teacher. He has a very dry humor and he has an opinion on everything. The class discussions were awesome and he made Comp 1 so easy for me. This is a not your average comp teacher because he is past his ten-year mark teaching at Valencia (14 years) so he operates on a much more loose criteria for the course. TAKE HIM!!

I wish I had discovered him before the end of my time at Valencia. He has a passion about the subjects that is contagious. I found myself enthralled in his classes and discussions. Oozes confidence, which is always nice. Finds sensuality in literature, and that is something I like.

Professor Sebacher's teaching methods are out of this world amazing! I'm glad I had a chance to meet this professor in my first semester. His lessons are not the usual humdrum of most English lessons, but they are lively and surprisingly intriguing. He's a stickler for good grammar and cohesive writing. The class was very straightforward and self explanatory, but if you are not a good writer, get tutoring and/or help. He expects well written and well thought-out papers. I personally did not like the class as he was very open with us about his personal life which I thought was a bit weird & excessive, but I did well grade-wise.

Neil Sebacher is an incredible teacher, and an extremely perceptive human being. You will need to undergo some serious self-reflection in order to do well on his papers, so don't take him if you're looking for a shallow class environment. First couple of classes you will be thrown off by his method of teaching. He is nothing like any professor you have ever had. best advice go in with an open mind. Among all the excellent professors at Valencia, Neil Sebacher is the best one ever. If he sees that you have a genuine interest in the class, he’ll work with you. Fantastic teacher. Not only does he have a lot of passion for the short stories he has you read, but each of those short stories have life lessons that he really gets you to see. His method of teaching helps one see other ideas. His class definitely kept me awake, which is really hard to do. 4 essays, no tests, and a simple final.

I have to say if as a college student you write with such bad grammar:"this teacher is lazy...lazy lazy!...tells me he offers help...but then declines....if u write good..this should b the class for u...otherwise..don't take him..cuz he don't help u on ur essays", you will be upset with an excellent professor. Prof Sebacher is one of a kind. Thought-provoking and sometimes inflammatory, his class discussions were sometimes the highlight of my school day! He loves debate and dissent,he thrives on it, so there's a real freedom in his class. Take advantage. He loves good writing and will become your staunchest supporter. A brilliant mind with a kind soul.

I am going to be completely honest with you. He is an amazing teacher based on MY opinion and several of my friends. But I know several people who cannot deal with his thought provoking methods. He's a very personal & funny teacher who truly cares for his students. He does have favorites though which are based on your participation in discussions.

Mr. Sebacher is definitely one of my all time favorite/best professors. His class is less about English and more about life lessons and learning useful things. Three 900 Word Essays, He likes them to be personal but relate them to the reading material. Take your essays to the writing center before you turn them in, easy A. NO EXAMS, NO FINAL. I have taken this professor three times in my time with Valencia College and every time it is a new lesson and a new experience. Show up with an open mind and be prepared to discuss with your peers daily. Amazing class! Take him! You wont regret it!

No tests, just 2 to 3 page papers. They're graded on your own perspective and the theme given. Likes to hear about personal experiences and reasoning from it. The stories we read were about love and its conflictions so I put that in my papers. He ate them up and praised me after every one he handed back. Just know proper grammar and you're golden.

Sebacher is absolutely my favorite professor so far; I have a feeling he always will be. Lectures are entertaining and more like a friendly debate. I always wanted to work hard to impress him. Gives compelling moral discussions and passes out beautiful philosophy and literature to read. Cares about his students so much and is so kind and helpful.

I've not taken any other English teachers, but I doubt I will. You'll get more out his class than the typical affair, as he really engages you; you learn about yourself, all whilst perfect your grammar writing about what really matters to YOU. If you have bad writing AND you refuse to go to the writing center, you'll fail for sure!

Prof. Neil is a good person. He gives his students a good advice on how to do assignments. He is a great lecturer. He doesn't like when his students write paper with mistakes. If you want to pass his class , you better write error free paper. He is an excellent professor.

There is nothing negative to say about the professor. He kept the class entertaining and engaging. Introduced great literature to the class and gave thorough constructive feedback on what you need to work on. This professor is not for everyone. He would make a great philosophy teacher. If you need help on an assignment or to improve your writing, you MUST ask for help. Otherwise, he will only give general advice. Easy A if you commit. I personally loved his personality, but again, this is only my personal opinion.

The John Keating of Valencia, but with tenure, of course. Mr. Sebacher is really laid back, cares about the quality of work rather than quanitity. The student os responsible for 5 writing assignments that are not unreasonable at all. Mr. Sebacher enjoys new insights and unorthodox viewpoints to really impress him. Overall really chill teacher.

Amazing Professor. My favorite for english and I am glad I took him for my last english course but sad at the same time. Wish I had taken him for ENC 1101. Really funny (and I'm a cynical grump), easy to engage in class and the work is not hard at all, just read the story, analyze in class and write the 4-5 essays. That's it!

After my first class with this professor I thought I made a mistake choosing him. Every class after the first one he proved to me more and more that I chose the best ENC 1101 professor. His lectures are interesting and thought provoking and his essay topics are very easy. He gives very good feedback and genuinely wants to see you succeed.

I took him for Freshman Comp 1 & 2. My first class I thought I had made a big mistake, but you slowly realize that he's actually pretty interesting and an amazing prof. You have 5 essays that make up your grade and as long as you put the effort into those 5, you've got the A. Would take again.

Professor S is very inspirational and gets students to look at life in a new lense. Although I do disagree with him sometimes, he still respects student's views. He is very funny and cynical and will get a great laugh from students. He ONLY assigns papers ... that's it! So be prepared to write,write,write! And you really don't need a book!

I took Professor Sebacher for ENC 1101 and 1102, and he is by far one of the best professors Ive ever had. He has such a great personality and is hilarious! The content of the course is so interesting. Every discussion has to do with the reality of human existence and the way the world works. No finals. Essay assignments are not difficult.

I took this professor for ENC 1102. Let me just say he is the best professor ever!!! If you like to write and have meaningful discussions about life take him!! He is full of so much knowledge and he is really engaging. There were about 5-6 essays but no final or midterm. He is very understanding about his students. Gives amazing feedback!!

My absolute favorite English professor! His class environment is more so discussion style, where there is a lot of open dialogs. We had 6 essays to turn in; Each was about 750 words. I was very nervous before taking this course because I'm not the best writer. He's an extremely fair grader, and his feedback on your paper will help you in the class.

Prof. Sebacher is very good in his feedback for your essays. Essays are not long and he will help you as long as you ask. He does talk about life a lot in the class (it is related to the text we read) and can be insightful to those who like that type of thing. Sebacher grades very fairly and you dont have a midterm or final in the class.

I took him for ENC 1101 and 1102. 1101 was somewhat personal and the essays were all narrative. The final was an option between journal entries done throughout the course or an essay about the course itself. 1102 was more academic-based than personal, but still pretty laid back overall. He's a select type of humor, but still very professional.

He is my favorite professor so far in my college experience. He is so insanely pro-student. He carved a lot of work off of the semester just to make it easier. Honestly, if you just do the work, it is so easy to scave past with an A in this class. The only way you fail is if you dont do the work. 200 word journal entries, + 2-3 page papers.

The subject matter discussed may make you feel uncomfortable, but the lessons learned are essential for a young mind inexperienced with the troubles of life. You only need to write 5 short (quality) papers, and participate in class. Don't skip a class, participate in discussions, and turn in your work. You'll take away so much from this class.

First of all, I put attendance as mandatory only because he really expects you to show up to class but he doesn't grade you on it. You will learn a lot more and have a much easier time if you show up to class. If you don't, he kind of gets upset but still, not graded based on attendance. With all that being said, he is great! Fun class, easy A.

There is 5 essays for the whole semester. The first 4 are 2 pages they are personal essays. The last one is a research paper that is 3 pages. He is very caring and very understanding. He also accepts late work.

English is one of my least favorite subjects. His class was the first English class in my life that I have actually enjoyed. I love him. His readings are so deep and touching. Professor Sebacher is truly one of the best professors at Valencia. In his Comp 2 course you read a couple different stories in class and a couple outside of class (not long stories at all). As well as five short essays. I never missed a day of class and he really appreciated that. Go to class!!! You really don't want to miss anything.

Neil is fantastic. He foments the discussions in class and likes to have his points of view challenged - keep talking and he will like it. No tech in class - he is an old-school, paper guy. Just five essays and participation in the discussions will make up your grade. He demands good writing skills and class participation and attendance for an A.

The majority of the time you'll be spending in this course is reading thought provoking stories and participating in class discussions. The rest of the time you'll be spending writing five essays throughout the course, four of them are personal and the last one is about your time in the course. Course was very easy, and I'd recommend it to anybody.

Professor Sebacher is one of the first and very few professors that barely gives homework. Don't get on your phones and participate. It is easy to get an A. Assignments are very clear, easy, and be sure to go into a lot detail when writing an essay. He's overall a fun professor to be around. Don't pack up early, he's not a big fan of that lmao T-T.

Professor Sebacher takes a different approach to teaching English Composition. You will read many short stories or poems and have discussions to make us reflect on the papers on a deeper level. The only homework he gives out throughout the semester is six essays, but they're easy A's as long as you don't use AI. Don't be late to his class!

I only had to do 2 essay, as I won one of his games he presented, and we only really had to read stories and comment on them after. I enjoyed some parts of his class, especially at the end where we had a pizza party. He can be controversial and he has a very narrow point of view on things. So expect to be challenged on your views and beliefs.

AMAZING! Total of 3 essays, no mla format or anything, just wants personal writings NO AI(mostly opinion pieces). Debating failing just so I can take him again.. He is AMAZING!!! Only 3-4 essays per semester, but no homework in between, and the essays are easy A's if you don't use AI. He is super funny and conducts amazing in class discussions. Just participate and you'll have a great time. His class is not at all boring!! Just don't use your phone in class.

Professor is really kind and I recommend taking him. Attendance is mandatory, and there are four essays that are quite easy to complete. With consistent attendance and authentic writing, you can easily earn a 90+ grade. He is also very accommodating, allowing me to rewrite an essay that I received a lower mark on, which I greatly appreciate!! :)
