Super sweet & Super smart, the best prof for BUS800.
Good prof b/c of the alternatives! Sexy? I think the prof voted for himself!
I am an A student but received a bad grade from this course.
Fair and Challenging. I actually learned something.
He is a tough gradeer but you will learn something. Thank you.
Good guy! makes course interesting but pigeon holes you on your grade.
you have to tell him to stop or else no BREAK!
If you are taking BUS800, take this PROF. You will learn alot.
talks ALOT, drifts from the topic, attempts to motivate, descouraging grades
bus800 is not a difficult course if taught properly by a good prof like neil wolff.
Great Prof very smart lean a lot and takes time with his students. Best Business Prof at Ryerson
Very self involved conversation. Tough grader with no explination. Not a bad guy but needs to focus more on others ideas and not always his own. Good guest speakers.
He has a lot of interesting and educational examples to share. Does not seem to understand the concept of replying to emails and addressing individual student concerns. His TA's are just as horrible when it comes to emails. Overall, he's a fair person.
Neil is a good guy. Helpful prof and goes out of his way outside of school for his students.
Managed to screw the entire class...
Cant really blame the grading on him; mostly his "winged monkey" TA's... Dropped the entire midterm AFTER we wrote it because he suspected cheating, then made the final worth 60%, so he doesn't get too many points from me for that one.
He looks like the ROBERT from Everybody Loves Raymond! So cool! HAHHAA...seriously...look at him..
does anyone even go to his classes?
A) Buy a shaver B) Your not a lumber jack get better shirts C) you walk like a penguin D) i don't care about u and your wifes fights E) I had a monkey tutor me for this course so i would learn something
I ended up skipping most classes b/c the class is so huge. I can't really give him points for helpfulness because we email our TAs. The course material is quite dry.
great prof....his experiences and insight make the lectures worth going to....the midterm fiasco was not his fault
First off.. this class seems the same as MKT100..k..now to this so called person you call a prof. 1st day of class..Brings in some unknown guitarist who doesn;t like his name and makes him teach. while the prof chills on the side making corny jokes..wtf is ims?.also tells us to shut up on 1st day...
How many other profs kick the semester off with a guitar performance??? He seems down to earth and reasonable.
The person who rated below me has bad music taste..also Dr. Seus is not in the mgt200 outline
First class...had a guitar singer...then talked about Dr.Seus :S
Worst dresser ever but I think he's proud of that?...the man loves his flanel. But he's brilliant and a really good guy.
hes awsome!!!
Very Insightful...seems to look into your soul when he talks to you. Tries to make the class fun, yet wants you to learn. Not a great dresser but he sure looks comfy! He seems really open to offering extra help.
..WAIT A MINUTE.. DOES HE TEACH OR DOES HE JUST CALL OTHER PPL TO TEACH EVERY WEEK????????????????

really good prof
Pretty good prof :)!
great guy - supper smart - lecturers are very interesting - however, his tests are based on the text rather then his lecturers. a bit annoying for someone who goes to class all the time.
He is bad because his his TA's are so bad that they act like law enforcements officers for this course. Don't take his course if it is in the Ryerson theatre where you will fall asleep all the time.
It's kind of true how the TAs act like law enforcement officers during the lectures. Other than that, he's a very good prof. He likes to use himself as an example to convince us not to fail and screw up. He talk about it almost every class. That sure pushed me hard enough to get a B- in the class.
i go to class to sleep. it's so boring and pointless to go to class. his lectures are based on textbook's powerpoint notes. his exam is based on the text. i learned absolutely nothing from that course. ims report was pointless as well. ims game was the most entertaining part of this very boring course.
He teaches ok. He does not try to explain very well I mean he makes you sleep in class.. Not very enthusiastic proff. The IMS i could never understand it coz he never explained it properly. His exams r text based and if you learn ur text well do your study guide questions you can get an A. Other then that you learn nothing.
Very sexy eyes. Great guy...really seems to care about his students. He keeps bringing in great guest speakers to give us a real insight into the real world. I wish there were more profs like him...thank you Mr. Wolfee
He is a good prof.
Really good lectures. very interesting course and he's a funny prof
Some of the readings were interesting, and the lectures were entertaining. However, I learned very little from this class. I guess it's a good GPA booster.
A great prof. Neil is very clear on what he expects from the major cases. Do what he asks of you, and you should be successful. Lectures are entertaining and interesting.
Being a last semester class he made me sweat for my grade. He lays the groundwork for you and wants to see your creativity in managing projects. He's a really good professor with lots of experience!!
Really easy to talk to, helpful, and the workload was not that heavy, or that challenging. However, his midterm and final needed you to know your stuff really well, otherwise your grades showed you didn't know what you were talking about. You have to read everything very carefully, and make sure you know definitions and examples well.
I feel like he is a good professor and wants to keep things entertaining in class by encouraging class discussions. He is pretty forgiving when it comes to marks in tests, however, the tests can be a bit tought. Overall, pretty good.
U need to read a lot to do well in the midterm tests and final exam , Assignments and term work are easy. His multiple choice are kinda hard..
Great Proff, Instead of just repeating what the textbook says, he gives real life examples of the material and is actually compasionate about the material
He was an amazing prof, his exams were reasonable and he was a very helpful prof. If you are taking management, i recommend him as your prof
very respectfull, helpfull and understanding teacher. the course is easy. don't have to attened the lectures at all. easy course and easy mark.
Pretty funny guy, but needs to chill out a bit during his boring lectures that dont even coun for a mark considering there is no exam or test in this course. He gets mad for people talking and messing around on their laptops but common its f***ing boring. I heard he's a tough prof for th year BUS 800
This is a good class. Neil's never on time (class starts 30 minutes late every day). He misses more classes than his students. A lot of reading, but it's nice to read at a university level for a change. He challenges students, but does not seem to do it a the expense of our GPAs. He should probably cut down on the caffeine.
A good prof for management but I would recommand you try and get wally smith instead. Smith is just easier then this guy (even thought wolff is pretty easy himself)
he is a good prof, however i find myself falling asleep and using my laptop during class so i dont get bored. hes really good but this course is so useless. dont go to class, just need to do your assignments and quizzes and you will PASS.
Lectures were dry, his TA marks all of his work, which was a bad thing in this case because he marked hard. No tests or exams, attendance was manditory as he gave you marks for showing up and participating
Smith is better. Bring a bed to class because you will get in a lot of sleep. Better yet sleep in and do the readings yourself.
He is a very stratight forward Prof who has low tolerant for irresponsible students. Each lectures are different with many different presenters and guests. Make sure to attend the breakout sessions because there is attandence sheet that you are require to sign in. The course is super easy and it a guaranty PASS.
good professor, bad lectures. he rarely gets anything done on time because he goes off on tangents. His stories are interesting, but he never really tells you HOW they're relevant to the text.
wolff is a pretty good teacher. his classes are a bit boring but he does try to make them entertaining. the midterm/exam is based a lot on the textbook so its a good idea to read it. he is a pretty nice guy and he cares about his class and students.
going to his class was useless and boring, his TA's are horrible and mark way too hard. He bases everything on the textbook so just read it.
Professor Wolff was a great prof. He was enthusiastic and outgoing, making the class more relaxed. He brought his experience to class which was also good. He is a good prof to take 'Identifying Opportunities' class with. You'll enjoy the class.
Listen! This is the best prof for all those who want to be an entreprenuer. His classes are very insightful because he draws from his real life experiences which is priceless. Many people don't like his teaching style and tend to skip classes.Keep up with the reading and you'll be fine. Test are fair and crip sheets are allow. BEST PROF AT RYERSON!
Okay, so he does go on about one powerpoint slide BUT you won't get this type of insight from anyone else. It's amazing listening to him, he knows what he's talking about. The MGT textbook is EASY anyways, so why complain that he doesn't go through everything? Might as well listen to stuff that will help you in everyday life, GREAT PROF! Not hard!
He is a good proff, his exams are fair they're based on the textbook. But there is no point of attending his classes because he talks about other things all the time and crams the actual lecture material towards the end of class. So just read the textbook and you'll do fine
Excellent professor. My only complaint is that he barely shows up to class. When he does show up, he only lectures for 1 hour, instead of 3 hours like he is supposed to. I left the course with some very useful information, but also the feeling that I didn't get my money's worth.
Very easy course. TA does all of the marking. Wolff rarely shows up for class. Its hard to get into a course when the prof doesn't even show up. Hearing difference business ideas was interesting. Wolff is okay. If you're looking for an easy ENT couse this is it.
is there any exam for this class?
Good riddance to professor Wolf and his "know-it-all" sidekick. BRING ON SEAN WISE!!. If you have the privelege of sitting in on a Sean Wise lecture YOU DO IT! Take this class now that Sean Wise has replaced Wolf and get every penny's worth. I have no doubt in my mind that this class will flll up fast...I just wish I put it off 'till this year.
Decent prof and the material is fair. Pray that you get good group members for the group project. I got stuck with some dummies.
I been in both Neil and Sean classes. Both prof's have their strength and weakness. You can go wrong with either of them. Neil is the reason why Sean is at Ryerson.
I really hated this course. You're just forced to think of numerous business ideas throughout the course. Very hard test, hard to go get good marks on the same assignments, & learn nothing new. Yes, Wolff rarely shows up, but Jym was unless too. This was truly my last choice in terms of classes to take & it lowered my gpa. Avoid this class!
WORST EVER! Relies on his TA & never attends class! He changed the course outline every week and made us redo an assignment because HE didn't explain it properly. Midterm is based on 1914-1990 material that is not covered in class! I went in loving ENT now I hate it! You have been warned!
Best prof his stories are always funny and what I hear about his kids wow I really want to meet them
Class is all group based work and the teaching is split between his TA and him. TA assigns work and is very unclear and unwilling to assist, so much attitude. Old readings that don't apply to the course work, pointless text book, and unclear assignments. Exams were difficult and unfair.
The course itself sucked but Wolff is a great prof. You can tell he wants everyone to succeed. If you work hard, you'll get an A.
this prof is a sweetheart, however he don't teach much. so if you just want a good grade and don't care how much you can learn, than he's good
- Does not teach, he rambles off topic was not able to cover material and wanted us to come in on reading week or a saturday so he could make up for it. - Not punctual, he came late for 2 classes (1.5 hours late), cancelled one, and left one early (an hour into one class). - Inconsistent with marking, him and his TA have different expectations.
This class is an absolute waste of time and money. He teaches nothing, everything is a review of what you learned in 526 and the only test is on a bunch of videos about Business Canvases. He basically uses the class as his own little focus group where he can test out his own ideas and steal the good ones that students come up with.
One word: KODI and XBMC You will prettty much learn how to watch free online tv in this class. That's what he teaches.
Professor Wolff is the best prof ever!!! He's a bit weird and crazy but is a great prof and gives great lectures about business. He is funny and kind, and you'll hear a lot about his dog in this coarse. Anyways, best prof!!! I recommend this class!!!
Welcome to Bus800 with Neil Wolff where the course plan is made up and the grades don't really matter! This is an easy class that is very time consuming and stressful.
Wouldn't avoid, but not the best prof for course. Nice prof & helped to explain how to do each section in the papers, but him & TA have different expectations (which lowed grades, because TA likes it a certain way). Classes were super boring & he rambled about companies but there is 20% participation (which he was generous with). Lots of work.

Knowledgeable professor who is pretty engaging during lectures. His lectures only cover how to do the group project, so you have to read the textbook for the exam. However it is his TA that unfortunately dictates most of your mark, and his TA is extremely difficult to please.
Beware of Neil's TA! He picks the same TA every semester and they have very different styles. Neil's lectures are somewhat helpful but you really need to see the TA before submitting your assignments! As for the exams, do the readings and try to listen in class.
Out of all the BUS800 comments i've heard from other students, it seems that Neill was probably the best prof for this course. Attendance is mandatory as there is a participation mark which you get from just showing up. He mostly just speaks about the group projects in class. Study for the midterm- solely based on textbook.
I learned nothing in this course. His TA, Jim, is probably the worst at Ryerson. They do not agree on what expectations are and has sass to the max. TA marks incredibly hard (considering Im an A/B student), and your mark is solely based on TA expectations. Try to avoid. Worst mark Ive gotten within my 4 years at Ryerson.
All he does is show you videos. If you need to email him or want office hours, you have to send him your personal phone number and receive a call. He will not reply to email. Marking is all over the place, he doesn't want to give anyone a good mark and his TA and him don't talk. He says one thing is good but the TA marks it wrong.
Neil is pretty easy going but he doesn't really teach and just shows you videos and reads the textbook slides. He honestly doesn't mark hard and his midterms were pretty easy. The bad thing about going with Neil as your prof is that Jym will be your TA and it's impossible to impress him on the assignments and Jym's marks are worth a lot of ur grade
Good prof, likes to go into proper detail about the topics he is teaching which is great and he is nice I guess. Unfortunately the biggest downfall would be his TA, Jym. He is rude and let me save you some time and tell you to not bother asking him for help, you won't get any. Would've recommended this prof if it weren't for his TA.
Neil was a very good professor. Many people complain about Jym the TA and rightfully so as he is a hard and very specific marker and his methods don't reflect Neil's expectations. However, the participation marks are easy to get and he bumped up everyone a whole grade point (if you were B to B+ or B+ to A-) at the end of the semester. Over all okay
Extremely frustrating course. His TA is terrible. Not sure what else to say. Will not take this prof again.
The course is workload heavy and not super exciting. However, he made it manageable and is very easygoing. His TA is a hard marker, but you can still have a good grade if you try and listen to the requirements.
Professor Neil himself is a good guy. We get to interact during lectures and he is receptive to humour and reciprocates it. His GA on the other hand, Jym, who grades everything, is a different story. He seems to contradict the prof in his expectations to the point where its awkward sometimes and makes it hard to decipher what the expectations are.
Neil is a nice guy and his lectures are always very intriguing! However he makes you work for your grades which is fair considering this is a 4th year course. His TA Jym is a tough marker compared to the rest of the BUS800 profs. Overall, just listen to their feedback and expectations and you should be fine.
