She is great! always willing to help, giving feedback, attendance is mandatory the test are kinda hard but she gives stugy guides... fun class, nice teahcer take her!
She is an awesome teacher! She is always willing to help you even if she is in a rush. She seems to be so busy, but she is always there to help you. Tests are hard, but study guides are given and they are exactly the test. I would totally recommend her!
She's an awesome teacher. She doesnt make the class impossible and is alway there to help you. Shes very understanding if you can't make a class or assignment and shes pretty hot so that doesnt hurt :)
Great teacher, highly recommended. She posts incomplete notes on blackboard then you fill them out during class and they are so helpful! Great study guides make her tests very easy. Very helpful, VERY ENTHUSIASTIC! Pick her if you want to make bio easy, have a sweet-natured teacher and an easy A.
I highly recommend taking her class if you have an interest in Biology. There is quite a bit of homework and reading to do for the class. If you are ever confused on something she will do everything to make sure you understand the material. Overall, one of my favorite classes and professors.
She is THE BEST. VERY,VERY helpful. Lots of homework tho. Attendance is mandatory. If you do good on tests, you already have a B. She is sweet, caring all that a teacher should be.
She is a good teacher. Uses PPT for all the lectures. Test are easy. If you took bio in high school you should pass extremely easily.
Now let me just say she is overall a GREAT teacher. She is very willing to help her students. However, this is Course Bio-110 so its no 101. There's a lot of information to remember and study for, so if you're not the type to do those things the class may not be for you.
VERY helpful teacher. biology 110 is not easy...Don't expect an easy A, because you will have to study a lot! She is a fantastic teacher though, very professional and knows how to teach.
Very good teacher. Extremely helpful. You do need to study and attend class in order to get an A or B but Nellie makes the material interesting and provides reviews for tests so there are really no surprises. Great teacher...I definitely recommend her!
Nellie is an excellent instructor, knows the material and is very helpful towards anyone that needs the help. This is a SCIENCE class, so you need to put in the effort to do well which should not be new to anyone. My advice is to understand how things work instead of memorizing the material. Once you understand, the memorization comes with it.
Been to several colleges in several states and N.K. is by far and away the best instructor I've had. Clear in her teaching, knows how to teach, knows her biology, brings powerful energy to the topic at hand and is exremely helpful. Not easy so attend every class & study hard. I highly recommend Harper's foremost instructor.
A lot od HW her class overall is not easy and is no help.
Difficult class but great instructor. Lectures all on ppt. Class consists of: 2 quizzes every week (1 lecture, 1 lab), 5 lecture exams, 2 lab exams, several HW assignments & a few extra credit opportunities. Nellie is very nice, patient, helpful & extremely knowledgeable about the subject. I'd take her again, but be prepared to work in this class.
Nellie is very nice and helpful....shes always willing to answer any questions you have.
I took her in my summer class and it was alright. The class consisted of in-class activities, homework, quizzes, and tests. The lecture consisted of her going through a powerpoint where you fill in the blanks of a handout she gives you on blackboard. She knows the material well and does a great job to help you understand the material.
She is a great teacher and her enthusiasm helps create an interest in the class and keep focus. I would recommend her as a teacher.
Great teacher, extremely helpful and fair with every student.
I LOVE PROF. NELLIE KHALIL! she has to be one of the best biology professors at this school! Nellie is very clear and has strict guidelines. You must earn your "A" This class is a lot of fun, but it is also a lot of work and you must focus and study hard to succeed! I strongly recommend Nellie for any Biology course. Very Helpful and very kind!
It was a pleasure having her as a teacher.
Nellie is a GREAT teacher! She covers exactly what is on exams! Would recommend taking her
She is nice, clear, and fair. Probably the best teacher at Harper. I really enjoyed how she tried to make boring information enthusiastic :)
She is the best, always willing to expalin any point and she is pretty easy on tests and goes by the rules, very straight forward and fair.
One of the best teachers a t Harper...
Nellie was the nicest teacher I have encountered at Harper. She is so helpful if you seek out her assistance. Take her!
Nellie was not a poor teacher but this botany class was incredibly difficult. A lot of information is given and not narrowed down enough for what we need to know on tests. Not recommended for non-science majors in need of a lab.
Nellie is great but this class is so so so so so hard. Too much work. Too much studying for the tests, a paper, labs everyday. Nellie is an excellent teacher though.
In my first 2 years of college, I attended various colleges/universities before harper, including a public ivy. Nellie is the BEST prof that I've ever had by far. She is helpful, clear, and extremely knowledgeable. That being said, this is an A that you will have to work for! Just watch out on labs!
She is one of the sweetest, most helpful teachers I've ever had. She really takes the time to make the lectures interesting and clear. Her exams are from her lectures but I'd get the book in case you want a little bit more clarification. She is always there to answer questions and replies to e-mails promptly. Lab and lecture exams are difficult.
Fun class go to class and make sure you STUDY its not a easy calss but if you study you will pass
Hand-down the best teacher I have ever had. She cares so much about the subject and the students. However, it's not an easy class. She really wants you to work hard for the A, but she gives you all the material you need to get it as well as multiple extra credit opportunities. Feel free to use an older edition textbook cause its not used much.
Prof Khalil is great. Was nervous about 135 but she made it not so bad. There are a lot of tests but she gives out study guides and her notes are on point with the test. Very nice teacher and very approachable. Not an easy A but it is definitely possible, especially with khalil
Very good teacher, was very clear on everything, did a great job in utilizing blackboard, and provided us with an easy way to take notes. Really kept me interested in the subject matter and made learning fairly easy! Our class was her "favorite"! Botany is her strong suit, but I'm sure she could teach any Biology course very well!
THE WORST EVERRRRR!!!. she wont let you take online quizzes if you missed the due date so you get zero on them. the test is are not from her power point slid !!! the test is all about informational question. she expect you to know every last word in the book which you don't really need. screw it !!!! pick another professor
Laughing so hard the negative comments on here. Nellie is very sweet and an excellent instructor. She is extremely patient and explains things crystal clear. You can tell she's very passionate about what she does. She always encourages students to ask questions, grades quickly and provides awesome resources for review before exams. A+
Nellie is very helpful and super nice!!! She knows its a lot of work, and lots of studying but she wants her students to do well! She gives clear instructions, and is there to help! You just need to be studying a lot! Best to be there each day if you can, it will help you to do better. Although its a tough course, I say you should take her! :)
Nellie is a fantastic teacher!!!! If you need a good teacher who is clear then pick her! All of her lectures were very clear and when you didn't understand all you had to do was ask! She really wants to succeed and she'll help you if you help yourself. Even if you aren't doing to well she won't give up on you! Loved Her Best Teacher EVER!
The class was informative, she gave good lectures. She's also smoking hot- which is a good motivation to actually come to lecture! Would take again.
Professor Nellie is a very awesome professor. She really has the passion of teaching the field. She is a tough grader, she really gives you the grade/score that you "literally" and "exactly" deserve; like for me, she gave me a 4.897/5 score in one of the Lab works. Yes, she is extremely technical, but that's part of passing the class. She's cool!
Nellie is a great professor and makes it very clear on how to be successful in the class. The class requires a lot of work to get a good grade though and sometimes it can seem like too much.
All the exams are from the lectures. Be in class every time and there will be no difficulty in getting an A grade. Labs and lectures are fun. Text book is sometimes required for online quizzes.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Definitely there to help you, crystal clear lectures, easy to follow work, not a lot of homework, funny, and overall such a great person and professor. I like her so much I'm taking her again for another Bio class.
Lecture are fairly easy to understand and willing to help in anyway possible when it comes to labs or homework assigned. Worth seeking this teacher out , will answer questions of any kind via email or during office hours. Homework assignments are given out periodically but this is course is more focused on lecture and labs.
Awesome teacher. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED! Need to attend class, take notes on powerpoints (ppts on Blackboard), study. Got a B in the class-my fault. She's thorough, passionate, cares. 1st-lab exam, got an A. 2nd-got a D. Didn't study like I should have, but second lab exam was harder. Everything on lecture exams are on powerpoint. Made class enjoyable.
I did not enjoy Nellie's class at all. She takes forever to post grades from tests and waits until past midnight the night before class to post the next morning's lecture powerpoint. She'll answer your questions if you ask her, otherwise she is very heavy on content and expects you to know and understand EVERYTHING for exams.
Nellie really knows her stuff, so be prepared to pay attention. Tests usually consist of 4-9 "Select All Apply" questions and are anywhere from 3-6 chapters long. Organismal biology requires a lot of memorization and interpreting concepts so do not take this course if you don't study. Keeping up a good grade is hard, but extra credit is offered.
Don't get me wrong, Nellie is a nice lady but she's a terrible professor. She takes forever to grade things and her lectures drag. Throughout the entire semester tests had to be pushed back because we were behind. Her tests consist of select all the apply questions, so be aware. She has ruined biology for me and will never take her class ever again
She's very nice, cheerful and easy to approach professor. Her lectures are clear and does not give a lot of homework. Tests will be easy if you just review what you learned. She hands back homework late but she gives lots of feedback on what you got wrong. She's very ideal professor and I would definitely take her class again
This was her first time teaching Bio 116, so I'm cutting her some slack. However, attendance (lab + lecture) is mandatory. Tests are very thorough and in depth, so doing homework and reading is a must. She reported low test scores for all her spring Bio 116 classes. Not an easy-A teacher. But, she is kind, personable, and genuinely a good person.
Nellie is a very sweet professor. You can tell she loves what she does. Lectures were to be printed out for class & filled in the blanks as she gave lecture. Labs were simple & were always overviewed beforehand. Tests were a tad difficult for me but that's my own fault. Lab exams were mostly multiple choice, which I relied on. Great class overall!
I really enjoyed her as a teacher. A lot of extra credit points. Textbook wasn't used much since almost everything was covered in lectures(with one exception). Study guides are a must to do, they cover everything. The only thing I didn't like was the pop quizzes due to other people not showing up in class on time.
An amazing person! She clearly has a passion for the subject which I think made it more interesiting. Print out the note sheets and fill them out well because they're great study tools for the tests. Make sure you're on time to class or else she'll start giving pop quizzes and do the extra credit it's usually worth a lot and def helps your grade
She is a really kind hearted and passionate about biology. Said that she is probably the hardest teacher ever. Will never go an extra mile to help her students, takes a long time to grade. Exams are so hard, DO NOT RELY ON THE REVIEW SHEET, everything that's not on the review sheet will be on the exam and worded to confuse you. Really bad experienc
Such an amazing teacher! Good at lectures really makes sure everyone understands what she is explaining, I would take all her classes! just a great easy going professor! As long as you are in class taking notes and reviewing those notes you should pass all the quizzes and exams!
Nellie is an amazing teacher and I would take her again in a heartbeat. She's very nice and understanding and will help you outside of class. You will have to be prepared to do a good amount of studying but her exam and quiz questions are pretty straightforward as long as you know the material. Make sure to take notes on all power points.
Professor Khalil is my favorite professor at Harper yet. Her passion about the class truly makes you want to learn. Her exams are VERY straight forward, even as an average student I flew by them with ease. Just make sure you show up to lecture and pay attention then you should do just fine in the class. Extra credit is always available as well.
Nellie is a really great professor, she is very inspirational! Her lectures are amazing also. For a lot of topics, I didn't use the book at all. So If you come and do all the work on time, I don't see why you wouldn't get an A or B. There are a few extra credit assignments available. She also drops your lowest score on your lab and an online quiz.
Nellie's a cool teacher & her lectures & labs will make Bio fun to learn. Take notes from what she says outside of what's included in the notes (attend class) AND from the mastering HW if you want an A. Studying skills such as revising notes after class will help b/c Bio is a lot of memorization. Lab quiz ea. week, 2 lab exams, 4 lecture exams.
Absolutely love her! You can tell she has a passion for biology and is always willing to help students. Though we had to finish online she was really good at getting back to emails and having a clear plan for the week. If you show up and do the work, this class will be fun and pretty easy. I would highly recommend her!
Online biology can sound awful, but the only complaint I have is the Discussion Board assignments. As long as you keep up with everything (I did all homework on Mondays for the entire week) you should be fine. The book was meh, I found her lecture videos better and easier to digest than the textbooks big bio words especially for a non-bio major
Nellie is a such a great and inspiring professor! This course was so straightforward, some topics are a bit more complicated but that's just bio. I enjoyed her lecture recordings more than the reading, so I only used the book if I got stuck on a test question. Nellie is very passionate about bio, and she provides everything you need to get an A.
Nellie Is an amazing professor and an amazing human being. She is one of the best professors I had the opportunity to work with. She is caring and kind and will work with you no matter what. She really cares for her students and wants them to learn. she is simply the greatest teacher at harper college.
she helped me fall in love with the animal and plant side of biology! she is one of the best professors at harper college and will work with you to be successful.
I know you might find yourself doing more work in her courses, but you should really give Prof Khalil a chance! Whenever you aren't sure about something, you can message her on Remind and/or join one of her weekly live sessions.
She is kind and helpful. She would set aside time to help you if you do not understand something. There are weekly meetings to review before assessments and helps you if you are confused on a lab. Highly recommend this teacher
Nellie as she likes to be called is my favorite teacher so far. As someone who had a D in high school bio, she does a great job at teaching it and making it interesting. Very caring and helpful. I am no bio expert but I understand so much more now after taking her class.
Professor Khalil made me love this class and the materials we learned. The labs were fun, easy, and shes super helpful. The lectures are exactly whats on the test. Its an easy A if you watch them you dont even have to read the book to get an A in this class honestly(BIO110). Overall she was super sweet and gives extra credit discussion boards.
Nellie was an amazing teacher. She was kind and really cared about the students and the class. She really changed the way that I felt about biology and I would absolutely take another one of her classes :)
Such a caring professor! The lectures are very long but if you do write notes and continuously study then you will do well in the class. You will have quizzes every week so study for those and you might have to go on field trips for your labs.
Always willing to help students better understand material using different learning techniques. Easy to reach out to and truly just wants to see her students learn!
Professor Khalil genuinely cares about the success of her students and she goes above and beyond to provide students with the resources to succeed. Professor Khalil is enthusiastic about teaching, meeting her students, and answering any questions. It has been a pleasure having such a compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced instructor.
Prof. Nellie is one of the nicest profs at Harper. She is incredibly passionate about what she is teaching and she really cares for her students. Her lab exams are a bit difficult, but if you can get through them, then you are good to go!
she is great professor, makes the bio Easier, provide with all the essential notes that is required for exams.
I love Nellie! She's an amazing teacher and although the tests can be tough, it's a straightforward class if you study for it. She's an enjoyable teacher and you can tell she's passionate about what she teaches
Nellie is an amazing professor. This was my first semester and i loved her class! The exams could be a bit heavy but everything in the lectures comes in the exam. Studying is required. Nellie also offers a lot of extra credit and shes available outside of class. You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches!
Do not take this professor, she would take years to grade things and on top of that her lectures were so boring and made the class harder than it is. The biggest thing was she did not grade anything on time, I waited a whole week after finals to see what my grade was because she took a whole month to grade a lab report that was less then 3 pages.
Nellie is an awesome professor! She explains things really well and offers extra credit opportunities. It's a hard class because there is so much to memorize but she has reviews for each test which helped me a lot.
I loved her lectures. They were easy to follow and she was very engaging during the lectures and this could be the first class that I actually learned in the class instead of studying out of class. We had field trips for labs and they were very informational and fun. I would love to take this class again. Nellie wants her students to succeed.
Professor Khalil is awesome! I ended up with a C in her class thats on me. I took the class as it's required for my degree, but I'm not really into Biology. Her enthusiasm did make the class fun and she's VERY approachable. If you're a Bio major, choose her! She loves what she does and gives a'lot of resources/feedback if this is your major.
Professor Khalil was the best professor I've had thus far at Harper. If you do the work and make the effort to understand the material, then it shouldn't be hard to get a passing grade. She is a great communicator and makes it easy to ask questions to further understand the material. She very often offers extra credit.
The professor is fair and teaches you about the real world through showing you what the world is like through the class. If you take the class, you will learn a lot about the real world and succeed in the job market.
She is very difficult to take the class with every season.
She is very stressful and will show no mercy any season. She adds salt to her courses making it very salty.
