Great Teacher. Super Easy, Super Interesting.
talked about a lot of cool things that had nothing to do with course material!!
Course seems easy, but he is very tricky on the tests.

My kindergarden teacher was a better teacher than this guy. He is horrible. Avoid him at all costs.
He would cancel class for no reason at all. It was a 2 to 3:20 class and we NEVER stayed even til 3, NEVER. We learned nothing. No curve, ever. He was never in his office during office hours. I wrote him emails and no response even til this day.
Horrible teacher, I would rather change my major than take another class from this man.
I am definately writing the head of the Department on this man, either that or talk to him as I am retaking the class this summer. Aweful teacher avoid at all costs!!! Do not take this man, ever, any class.
he teaches it really laid back, but the tests are hard! likes to ask a lot about the small little stats in the chapters! I ended up with a good grade though!
This guy is awful...he has grad students come to class to give surveys or just dismisses the class...he teaches, maybe 35-40 minutes maximum in a 1 1/2 hour class period...then says lets go early today;never answers email; we pay big $$$ for this course!

Learned alot. Really liked the guy. Tests are fifty MC questions, but kinda tricky. I made an A by memorizing the notes the night before tests.
Class was difficult yet very interesting. I learned a lot from him and hope to learn more. He had curves on his tests and he was in his office during office hours. The only time he cancelled class was for bikes, blues, bbqs
?
Very good teacher! This class has a lot of useful information. Tests are tricky so read the book and you'll do fine.
Driver was a good teacher, but his tests are exactly parallel with his lectures. He teaches more for practical use, not for testing. Just read the book for that. It's easy reading, too. He cancelled class randomly, but I guess we all have our days!
Mr. Driver is the best guy! He was my Insurance Advisor and he was always very helpful. Although his tests may sometimes be tricky, they aren't anything a college student can't handle. He might not answer e-mail all the time, but in person he is always
Nelson Driver is a good professor. Good times in his class personal financial management were had. That being said, he hilariously and uncannily resembles the famous civil war general ulysses s. Grant!
He may be the most arrogant jerk teaching at the University. His class is a joke and for those students who do take class seriously, he is completely uncooperative. I can't believe I paid money for that waste of time. Once he picks his favorite students, everyone else is screwed! Watch your back!
don't bother to go to class bc his tests are nothing like his lectures. tries to be a comedian, key word being try. don't take this class if you actually want to learn something about managing your money
he's awesome
Awesome Teacher!
I think he is a great teacher. Good personality, very nice, and can be funny sometimes. I would definitely take another class from him.
This guy is great. He relates your finances to just about anything. I am already enrolled in Risk Mgmt for this Fall. Take him, you'll learn!
Cool guy. Test are mostly from book not lectures
Go to class, participate, review text, and get an A. Nelson is fun. His class is what you make of it. I would take him again in a heartbeat!!
Funny Guy!! Fun to be in class!
Funny Guy!! Fun to be in class!!
Awesome teacher. Take him for anything you can.
His lectures are not actually lectures at all. They are stories he tells and have nothing to so with the test.He also repeats the same boring stories for your listening torture. It is SO RIDICULOUS that he is actally allowed to "teach" at this ranked University.
Very funny and full of good stories...
He is one of my favorite teachers on campus. He is hilarious. Personal Finance is really easy, but Risk Management is killing me right now.
he's a nice guy. very helpful and he talks alot about his motorcycle hobby.
Driver likes to teach/preach his own opinions. His class was pretty easy but he does have his favorites. if you can stand being taught like you are in a box then take him. + keep a tab on how many times he asks about wal*marts front enterance during the semester, i guarentee its 4+
I like Mr Driver. Sometimes he is vague in his requirements and not clear on what to study sometimes. Overall I did learn some from him. He's a great guy.
Funny guy, wants everyone to do well, adds bonus at the end of the semester. Would suggest taking any of his classes. Just don't count on getting tests back quickly.
Funny guy. You'll never really know what will or won't be on a test. Buy a book that's been highlighted. You should get most test grades in about 3 weeks.
funny guy. very nice. hard class unless ur willing to read alot
He is very knowledgable and class is interesting, but to do well on the tests, read the book-it is where all the questions come from! He gives bonus and curves and doesn't give a final!
Great teacher. Read book for tests.
Tests are extremely specific. Memorize percentages and numbers and you will ace his tests. Reading the book is mandatory since he never makes PPTS available. Overall, his experience in insurance actually makes this class relevant to the real world. If you need an elective, take Driver and take this class. You won't be bored and you'll learn too.
He is a really cool guy. You can talk to him about anything, and he knows EVERYTHING about insurance. But his test are pretty difficult. He is nice about curving at the end of the semester.
Extremely interesting class. Very laid back.
He's pretty funny, kinda kooky, but overall nice guy and good teacher.
This guy is AWESOME that is the only word to describe him.Show up to class and pay attention.Do not slack, slackers don't join or he will make it where you don't make it out alive.Read the book because the tests are based of the reading you are supposed to do.ASK questions!Great guy to talk to as well!
Per. Fin. is a bit tough.Teaches you practical as well as book knowledge.Do the work as it's assigned. DO NOT SLACK! Do the reading as he will give out 10 point pop quizzes which will count as bonus in the end and can help!Greatest teacher in the entire business department i have ever met.Don't get on his bad side though!
He is very laid back and always makes class fun. Don't be afraid to crack jokes in class, even if he is the target, because he will just play along and strike right back. He knows a lot about the subject matter and can explain things clearly using examples from previous work experience. Tests are fairly easy, just study what he tells you to study.
Keeps the class intersting. Uses real world examples. The test are really hard but he curves them. He actually cares about the students.
Best Teacher in Walton College
He's an alright guy, but the tests are over random facts in the chapter that he never mentions during lecture.
Nelson is very laid back and his classes are acutally a not that bad to sit through. You'll always get out of class super early. Don't bother taking notes in classes, just highlight the words he says in your book, then the day b4 the test (review day) just be very specific with him on what he wants you to look at in the book. Nelson is awesome
Awesome, but you had better stay up with the materials!
Go to class. Attendance is basically your grade!DO NOT buy the FBC book I never used it! We had an assignment, which I didn't do because he lets you have 2 "misses" which you can miss a class and/or assignment. Class is only like 15 minutes out of an hour and half, if that! There's a lot of boring workshops you have to sit through.Easy A, seriously!
Absolutely do not take Risk Management from him. I don't know how he teaches his other classes, but this one is so confusing and inconsistent it will drive you crazy. He had no formal lecture outline, he just talks. The tests are impossible and over the most random stuff the he doesn't cover in class. He doesn't answer emails. Avoid at all costs!!!
Idk what he was like in '07 where he has all these good ratings but currently he just lectures aimlessly without any kind of structure. He has hard tests and he assigns projects with absolutely no grading rubric and that have no formal outline or written instructions. Then he will give you a bad grade and say don't email me to contest your grade.
YOU NEED A TEXTBOOK! You pretty much read the chapters and you'll make an A. Nelson is really laid back and a super nice guy. Take him for everything you can.
Good teacher, knows what hes talking about.
Pretty much the easiest B you can get on campus, if you want an A minimal work will have to be done
I had him for an 8 am business connection class freshman year and it was so worth waking up once a week to go to his class. He is funny and super laid back, he cares about his students and even brought us doughnuts one time.
I learned more from my SI teacher than from him. He takes random attendance grades, and gives random quizzes and class assignments. He always says you need to know this and that but its never on the exams, you never really know what to expect from his exams. He also never puts in any grades so you don't know how your doing in his class.
Driver is one of the best teachers I've had at the U of A. He makes sure you understand the class and what you're learning. I've taken him several times and enjoyed each of the classes. He's an all around great teacher and person.
Driver is a good teacher, he uses real world examples to explain things. He loves discussion so speak up in class. In his Micro/Macro class, the textbook is absolutely ESSENTIAL. Every test has direct material from the textbook, you have to read every assigned chapter.
Driver is my favorite teacher on the hill. I have taken him for ERM and International Finance- Both classes involved very relevant topics and the projects are all very ill-defined writing assignments. He will say "just make it complete and concise" over and over but in the end these projects will be rewarding and you'll get excited about this guy.
Nelson Driver is one of the best teachers at the U of A and they are lucky to have him. He doesn't need slides because he somehow knows everything off the top of his head. The guy is very sharp. I laughed out loud during every lecture. His tests are so hard but he cushions your grade and curves everything so don't worry about it. Take him for RM.
He was very unprepared and all we did was talk about useless things. I would not recommend him as a teacher. The course itself was pointless and I would love to get my money back.
This online class was pointless. DID NOT learn anything from it. He was the most unprepared teacher I have ever met! It took him two weeks after classes started to reach back out to us on what book we needed to get. Nad it just got worse throughout the semester. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE teacher! take anyone else, BUT him if possible.
We're in the 4th week of class, we've completed 5 assignments, and there's only been 2 assignments graded (one of those including a getting started quiz). I have no idea how I'm doing in the course and it adds a lot of unnecessary stress :)
Terrible teacher. However the class is extremely easy. He teaches risk management which causes him to not care about fbc which is understandable because its the most useless class ever. We have assignments but he never grades them. He has missed 3 classes and didnt even show up to our final class day. Get ready to hear about his abroad program.
I took Professor Driver for an online class. He did not keep up with grading which made it very difficult to know where I stood in the class. The assignments were posted at random times and due at random times. You definitely need the book and he is a tough grader.
Prof. Driver is a good professor with lots of real world experience in Risk management. There are no tests, but 3 case studies that are done in groups. He is pretty laid back. This is overall an easy class.
No lectures, "book required", only one assignment from the book. Most assignments he asked us to do "research" on basic definitions of words assoc. with risk mgmt. Class was online but no structure as far as due dates. Would send email when assignment were on BB (very sporadic).Didn't email about last 3 assignments. I received zeros.
Professor Driver entered grades twice during the semester. You will email weekly assignments to him, but you won't get the grade back until you've reached midterm or finals week with 0 feedback. I ended the course with an easy B, but I had to email him during finals week because he failed to enter in about half of my grades. Find another professor.
Driver is a great professor. His class is very lecture heavy and laid back, he uses his personal experience as well as excellent real world examples to teach. As long as you pay attention in his lectures and apply his teachings to your work you will succeed. When doing group projects make sure that your work has continuity.
Mr. Driver is unacceptable as a teacher. He makes mistakes on a regular basis and takes a while to fix his mistakes. He is very accessible outside of class and cares about his students.
Professor Driver is the best teacher Ive had at the UofA. He encourages us to think outside the box & allows us to do things our own way, which is why he doesnt give out strict/defined instructions for projects. Hes extremely knowledgeable, personable, funny, & his lectures are super relaxed. Im going to miss having him as my professor!
This online course blew, if youre only looking for an easy A then here ya go. He puts no effort into legitimately grading and providing feedback. For the online course he does 0 teaching so enjoy paying tuition to teach yourself from the book and google. It made for an easy easy class but it sucked that he was not involved at all.
Professor Driver has been a great professor - there are assignment's each week and he challenges you to research the topic. He's always available outside of class, and usually responds very quickly when I emailed him. Very caring about his students, and as long as you put in some effort, you will do well.
Assignments were weekly open ended short essays, mostly. Easy grader, if you grasp the concepts, you'll pass.
DO NOT TAKE HIS RISK MGMT ONLINE CLASS. HE SUCKS. Such a hard grader and when he decided he didn't think we were putting enough work into his assignments he decided to double their points and not tell us. He practically wants people to stress about his class. He only response to emails in a rude way. DO. NOT. DO. IT.
You could tell he enjoys risk management. He assigns weekly short response homework from the book. The tests are difficult but if you pay attention in class and study what he goes over for test review you will do fine. He has a dry sense of humor which made class more entertaining and engaging.
mid way in the semester he decided that our work was not good enough so gave us all 20% on an assignment. No idea what happened there but the course its self is okay.
If you can take this course with someone else, DO IT! Prof Driver is incredibly unclear about the expectations on his assignments, but will no hesitate to send a mass email explaining how bad every submission is. No feedback whatsoever. Condescending. Just don't do it.
Worst teacher ever. He didn't have a course schedule so we never knew when our hw was due or exams were till the week of. He forgot about my section a few times. For exam 2, he posted the wrong date then corrected himself two days prior to it being due. All his hw is busy work and takes hours to do. Don't know how he's a professor at UArk.
All his hw is busy work. He would never email us back. Extremely unclear about all his expectations. His class is very unorganized, and everyone who took his class this last semester was so confused the whole time. I don't recommend taking him.
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of incorrect due dates, incomplete course schedules, and much more! Absolutely nothing has been clear since day 1. Its all busy work, easy A if you do the work but its sad we pay for a class of this format. He'll change due dates as we go, even within 3 days of the due date
The class is super easy and you can get easy credit points. Lecture is completely unrelated, and there are no clear dates for when assignments or even exams. Attendance is not mandatory, but you risk missing something he randomly assigns that day. Super easy assignments, but most unorganized class I have ever taken.
Professor Driver is by far the best professor I've had. Very conversation based, as long as you participate you're going to do well. Homework is extremely manageable and tests are easy if you study. He is extremely nice and will help with absolutely anything! Will definitely take him again!
Absolutely awful professor. Barley even a professor. I would never recommend taking this course because you'd be paying tuition to self teach yourself EVERYTHING. Not clear on his expectations regarding homework, bad communication skills, just a horrendous course overall. Don't recommend.
He was a very nice guy but an awful professor. I took him for FINN 3053 (financial markets and institutions) this summer and it was horrendous. The schedule and syllabus he initially gave us did not match up AT ALL with what we actually did throughout the year. Even the grade set up was completely different. Overall I was confused the whole course.
I would not recommend taking an online course with him. Be prepared to write 4,000 words a week and then get complaint emails of how we do nothing correctly when his instructions are very vague. Also have an exam which he has taught nothing for and gave a "review" 2 days before with things we have never even heard of before. Take it with another!!
This professor should not be a teacher, o m g. It is extremely unorganized. He doesn't teach lectures, he makes you do lengthy assignments worth 100-200 points in class randomly. He gave us a test over 9 chapters that we, and I'm serious abt this, did not go over in class once. He does not teach ANYTHING. Also, he expects you to know everything
Professor Driver is a great guy, and very funny to talk to. He, however, does not really teach. I guess he formats the class like a big discussion, where we kind of just talk about current events? Either way, it was easy and sometimes nice to hear other people's takes on things, but also pretty boring at times. It was an easy A though.
He was always wanting to interact with and talk to the students and was a great person. His classes are a little lengthy, and sometimes you find yourself drifting away, but you need to take notes because he does not release slides that will help on the exams. During the semester, you will do two time-consuming case studies, I really enjoyed him.
GOAT, learned a ton and Mr. Driver kept it interesting. Class is structured differently than most. I loved that since we got to do our own research and apply it to topics.
Professor Driver is a good and caring man - the does not feel as structured as other classes (no powerpoints, notes, etc.) but there is no need to worry about your grade if you pay attention and complete weekly homeworks. He is a super knowledgeable and has lot of experiences and stories to share.
Professor can be disorganized, with unclear expectations and loose deadlines. However, the class is fairly easy if you stay on top of the weekly assignments. unstuck AI was a great resource for exam prep.
Great professor, but he cares a lot about the students. The class is very group project-heavy, but he gives more than enough time to work on assignments. Overall, if you show up and participate you'll have an A.
He can be a bit disorganized, but he cares about his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. He always answered my emails within 24 hours and was always kind. The class is fairly easy as long as you stay on top of the weekly assignments and study for the exams.
Worst teacher I've ever had. Doesn't respond to emails for over a week, and all he does in class is stand there and talk and the expect you to know how to do everything.
Professor Driver made this class super easy. Most of the assignments were on Pearson, and the exams were open-note and open-book. There were only two exams total, and the final was even optional. There's one group project, but it doesn't take much time at all. Overall, very low-stress class.
