All he does is talk about his life. His class is hard if you don't worship the ground he walks on.
Overall he spends a lot of time giving us examples by using his life, sports, & movies. Does help somewhat. If you complete and understand the homework the class will not be so hard.

took the class spring 02' teaches nothing from the book or about the class. miss a lecture, don't worry...he'll still be on the same topic: alan grenspan, you'll never be as rich as that man or the microsoft dude. Mr. Nagai is a cool man though.
He is HILARIOUS. I didn't even have to take 1B and I took it because he is so much fun to listen to. Hard tests but overall, I enjoyed.
His lectures confuse the average student and he frequently has dialog with himself in front of class. The McConnel Brue text he uses is very confusing and I read econ texts for lesiure, there are much better text books out there.
His lectures are mostly real world examples. He uses some humor in his lectures. I think he grades exams on a curve. The concepts are difficult but the real world examples help.
he goes off topic A LOT and on other days he will talk abotu the same thing for the whole period. but he gradeds on a curve so that makes up for it.
He is a very cool teacher but he does not like lazy students. He always tries to make students think in order for them to succeed in their lifes. Sometimes, he looks mean or talks too much but if you pay attention, his opinion will be very usefull. :)

He doesn't know the THEORY!!!! hey...what is the theory? Very interesting guy though. He walks around like an old lady with his hand behind his back. If you like to be entertained take this class. If your the type of person that shows up to class late take his class because he's ALWAYS late!
He go off topic alot.He repetively tells you about what a real rich person is,and how youll never be one.He likes to talk about how bad CA and stockton is,but he'll never leave beacuse his family made the town.If you wanna be brought down,take him,but u might actually learn some econ along the way.

Its true,u learn alot, but don't get anywhere with passing. He just love to talk. U could easily fail if u loose him to the point where he doesnt tell u. Sometimes, his lecture is random for no purpose. Life's advice or for to know, i guess. Study the notes/write a good paper, it helps.

Mr. Nagai is quite a character. He talks ALOT! In class he always had something interesting to say, even if he already said it in class the week before.lolz. He's nice and funny. In Asian Hist, every aspect of it was interesting. I guess I'm doing good in his class because I'm passionate about the subject. I highly reccomend this class!!!
"If you don't know the theory you're DEAD". Life is not about theories, it's about FACT. He talks too much about things that has no relavence to the class then he tries to cram the chptrs in the last 10 minutes of class. Yes, this teacher should be FIRED! I took Nagai in the fall of 2004. He was always late for class, made us stay pass the 50 minutes, and his lectures were IRRELEVENT! Don't bother taking notes from the lectures, just study the book because that's what's going to be on the exams. The only thing good about his class is that he grades on a curve.
So unhelpful, for the class. Went during office hours, he talked for 3 hrs, I got contacts for internships and my foot fell asleep. Are we getting the picture? BORING, off-topic, late, keeps you til the end of the hour or later. Talks about how people in business are cut-throat and if ur not cut-throat then GET OUT OF THE MAJOR. Waste of time.
I took his class in the summer '05, and it was horrible. He was often late, unorganized, and misplaced papers and homework. He has no idea how to stay on topic and his lectures are irrelevent to the course. He is also rude and puts students down when they ask a question. By far, the WORST teacher I have ever had!!

Mr. Nagai tells it as it is..:) i seriously enjoyed the class asian history with him. If you want to pass his class you gotta attend the class and you gotta take down notes or just remember what he tells you and you gotta read the book too. I like listening to his stories though cause he does make sense when he relates it to our class and lecture.

He was the worst teacher I have ever had! I sat there listing to him ramble on about nothing for a semester. I retook the class at a state college and now I know for sure how **** his lectures were!! If you actually want to learn do NOT take his class!! However if you want to listen to a bitter man going through a mid life crisis take it!
Is very opinionated. History was interesting, but I maybe bias since I'm asian. Just listen to lectures, and he goes off topic into some interesting stories sometimes.

mr nagai is an okay teacher. the things he talks about is just hard to beleive. he just talks too much about stuff that isn't really on the tests.
Lectures are very interesting but not always on topic. Very easy assignments and tests. Only problem I had was that he was way to opinionated. It was a theory class but much of it seemed to be too much of his theory. And I didn't always agree because the lectures was based on a bias. despite being very interesting, you'll still fall asleep from his long drawn out stories. I learned but didn't learn a whole lot because it was easy.

Be prepared for unpreparedness. LOL. Nelson was probably out of the class more than in. He loves t teach and swear so be ready. He rants and raves about off the wall stuff all day and really stays off topic a lot. He knows his subject though so don't try to fool him by not reading you will fail his class.
Despite what people say, he tells it like it is. He does drag out his lectures often. Homework, so easy.

What a waste of my time taking econ from Nagai! Aside from being late EVERYDAY he put people down in front of the class for asking questions. He wasted time talking about irrelevant topics and what I did learn I taught myself. If you need to take this class for your major, wait until you transfer. Avoid Nagai like the plague!!

He likes to talk... but not about whats in the text book. He goes off on tangents with stories and makes class seem like its really 5 hrs long. Beware!!! You will have to learn this subject on your own by reading on your own time. One plus is that he curves his grades.
Entertaining teacher. I failed just about every test, but aced all of the homework assignments and the essay and passed the class with a C. Not sure how I did on the final, but probably not good. Fun guy, applies life to economics.

Prof. Nagai makes it an adventure in the 'today and now' TAKE good notes, write top papers, and 'A's are attainable. He applies Economics to real life situations. You will need an Econ/Math tutor for this class!

Im taking his econ 1a class and have no idea what im getting into. We have no tests and the final is 70% of the grade. What is the final madeup like? Is it all multiple choice? Is knowing the homework enough to get an A? Half of what he does seems so irrelevant to the chapters and hes always late. I really dont want to drop this class.

Mr. Nagai was by far the worst teacher that I have ever had. He does not go over the homework, he does not answer the students questions and he belittles the student when they make a mistake. Went to his office hour once to pickup hw and stood there for an hour and a half listening to him ramble on. Just read the book and study a little. I hate econ but I mangaged to pull off an A!
avoid the teacher like hell. he loves to hear himself talk about the world to which he knwos nothing about. A friend of mine had this teacher 20 years ago. and he says the same thing 20 years ago. Rambles for hours. will talk for days about nothing if you let him. avoid like a plague.
Professor Nagai was extremely entertaining to listen to. Unfortunately he doesn't talk directly about Economics. This was difficult for me because it basically forced our class to teach ourselves through the text book. I enjoyed the lectures but it didn't have anything to do with Economics.

Nagai is a very hard teacher and grades very hard. I'm an A student but i got C in his class. Even if you work really hard on your homework or term paper but dont do good on the tests then you wont be able to get a good grade and not even a B but probably a C or D. I recommend some other teacher.

His tests were a piece of cake but the he can't teach. All he talks about is how his grandma is such a rebel with her gun. Easy class if you can stand listening to a man talk about nonsense throughout the class.

I stongly recommend Mr. Nagai, he's a great professor. His class requires a lot of work but it's worth taking it. Part of the test comes from the homework and if you plan in taking his class you better do the reading before you come to class unless you want to be completely clueless. His lectures are clear enough to get a decent grade. TAKE HIS CLA
This teacher was so hard he had to curve his grades a lot because everyone was doing so bad. The term paper is the easiest to do so no worries about that. But do focus on the midterm and final because they tend to be very difficult. Other than getting the homework, it is useless to attend his class because he is horrible at lectures
Very difficult teacher. One paper is due 5-10 pages. The homework assigned adds up in the end, so if this class is a must, try to do and get a score of 10 on each hmwk. Oh, and if you decide to take this class try to COLLUDE with other students, you'll understand what I mean by week 4!!! Once again, VERY HARD.

If you want to take a good economics class he's not your best bet. He isn't really clear about what will be on his tests, and he tends to bring up tangents about his own personal life during lecture. He is very hard to understand, and not easy to ask questions to. I would NOT recommend his class if you really want to learn something about economics
His lectures are incomprehensible. I have read the book over and over, for a week. He relates TOO much to his personal life and makes NO sense. HE reiterates everything, that doesn't make sense. And his examples are horrible. I would have dropped this class sooner, but I really need it! Try another teacher and save yourself!

Incredibly boring class. Lectures off-topic, keeps the class way beyond the ten-minute passing period.. which is really inconvenient. However, grading is curved (extremely convenient); you'd literally have to do nothing to get a D or F in there. Definitely not recommended, unless you plan on taking naps.

He may know history, but do not rely on what he has to say about Asian Culture for diddly squat. He has a very sino-centric view of history which is more or less accurate. If you take his class, please do yourselves and the class a favor and call him out when you know he is wrong!

He is the only teacher for this class, so you don't have much of a choice. He is not a hard grader, actually the easiest ever, curves EVERYTHING! I went to class maybe half the time and got a B. Don't go to the class, just do the assigned reading, tests, and homework and you will pass with ease. He is extremely boring though.

An ok teacher, I personally liked his "reenactments" of events during history (cursing and acting all gangster). Just pay attention and sit in the front and you'll be ok.
This professor is extremely biased and attending class is basically an option. Most people leave half way through the lecture when he begins to focus more on his opinions than the material.
Mr. Nagai has to be one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He asks questions to the class and if you get it wrong he insults you. Class is consisted of him arriving 10 minutes late, him talking about rich people, and keeping you late. Just make sure you know whats on the homework and you will do fine on the test.
As someone with an A in his class and one of his favorites, Nagai sucks. Take him only if Econ/Bus is your major, study in groups. He goes of on 40 minute rants on how Bill Gates uses drugs, then spends 5 minutes drawing a graph. He's not afraid of telling you you're stupid and he won't help you be smarter. Absolutely the worst professor I have ever experienced. He has strange conspiracy theories and lectures about them constantly. His rarely lectures about anything to do with the class. He thinks everyone are gangsters and drug dealers.
I took Nagai for intro -economics, attended all the lectures, read econ book. Econ is Forrest Gump soft -science not hard science like Physics + Chemistry. Good intro to econ but all material in books+online. Forrest Gump" of Delta. Nagai repeats 100% from book. Nagai is Forrest Gump of Delta and Forrest Gump can teach and pass this econ class.
Nagai covers all the basics well. The lectures align closely with the textbook, so attending is helpful. Unstuck study and other study tools made prep a breeze. Solid intro to economics.
I took an Econ class from Nelson. Economics+politics is free free free on the internet + web +online + tiktok. Politics + economics + history, law + liberal arts = all on internet +web. Nagai puts a spin on Japanese history. Why the US dropped two atomic bombs on Japan 1945.. Why is Japan the only nation with atomic bombing 2- times in 1945.
