wow i am shocked at the previous comment. his classes are difficult, however the material is difficult. one must apply themselves. he is very clear with his lectures. i have learned the most from him compared to other instructors. if you plan to move forward in math/sci, take him, he is passionate about the subject which yields passionate students.
hardest teacher i ever took in my whole life. he will show no mercy to u
extremely hard.
Great teacher if you already have a basic understanding of math. He shows math shortcuts and explains the material in a way which you can relate. He collects homework, even if you copied it; so it's easy points. Show up, pay attention, and hand in your work and you're guaranteed to pass. If I could, I'd take him for all my math courses.
Nikitovic is a horrible professor, especially for online classes. He responds back a week later, never gives exams back. Also he crams 75% of your grade into one week. For example you will have 2 exams, 3 quizzes a huge semester project and 7 discussions due the last week of the semester. Don't take him! It'll be a waste of your money.
He expects of lot from his student, teaches the applications for the material as well as the material itself. He's clear, he's fair and he loves his job. If you are looking to go into a mathematics field, this guy is the way to go
One of the best professors I have haD. He is very passionate about what he teaches and makes sure you have every opportunity to grasp the material. I think he got a bad rap in some other reviews. I'm taking one of his classes again next semester. He was that good!
Not helpful. Not clear. Good luck.
great professor, loves teaching passionate about his class, helpful, work hard and you will get an A :) great teacher .. cant go wrong with him if you want to pass and succeed in math
Good luck he is so hard and a very boring teacher. The "stupid " kids sit in front with assigned seating and everyone knows it. His test are extremely hard!! and he makes your write a paper! really in math come on! I would not recommend him to even my worse enemy.
He is a decent teacher but needs to remember we are not in high school. Not allowing us to leave early is annoying. Dont recommend.
really smart guy and teaches well but man does he make you work for your grade. good teacher but not easy by any means.
The professor is very helpful, he makes his class fun! If you want to do good in class, you have to put effort in your work and actually do the work. But that's nothing new (to some it might be new). You've paid for the class, so why should you have to leave class early? He's a very smart professor and he knows what he's doing. Highly recommended!
very hard teacher. makes you write a long final paper. does not teach stats well
Very good prof. Taught the material very clearly and helped step by step with each problem. Assigns and gives grade for hw. 40 hour project at the end. Very good at teaching though.
Best teacher ever!!! He knows what he is talking about!!!
He's one of the smartest professors i have ever had the pleasure to work with; while he is tough, he teaches everything thats on his tests, so if you apply yourself you will succeed. he is always there to help when you need it, and he has a true passion for the subject. i recommend him to anyone who truly wants to learn.
Awesome teacher! one of the best math professors I've ever met. Really helpful and explains everything very well. ATTENDANCE IS A MUST.
He's a friendly guy, but gives out a lot of work and is easily distracted when it comes to answering questions. I personally despise anything math-related so his lack of focus didn't help with that at all.
Nice professor, always willing to help. Gives a lot of hw and project is the must in all of his math classes. Explains really well. Should take him if you want to learn.
Great professor! Had an accent, but he was still easy to understand. The class was great and easy since it was elementary algebra haha, but he helped when you needed it. The work load was a lot, but nothing impossible.
He is a great professor. There is a lot of work to be done in his class but if you do it, (not even necessarily on time), you will do well. He was the first professor in math that I really liked and did well with. He explains things in a way that make sense. Definitely take him!
I loved this class. I am not a mathematician and am definitely not going to be but his passion for math is very inspiring. He does his very best to help you understand the material and has an open door policy for his office hours. It is alot of work but he does give many opportunities to get some saving grace points that you may have lost on tests
He's very up-front with how things will be graded, and explains the material well. Only problem is he doesn't allow any formula sheets, even though he complains about how it's pointless to memorize all of the material, very strange. Otherwise, he was very easy to deal with and graded fairly.
Probably one of the best professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares about the students and their progression in life and tries as best as he can to give everyone a good grade at the end of the semester. His lectures are always a lot of fun and he always makes sure that everyone is following along. DEFINITELY take him, you will NOT regret it.
I only took this teacher for 1 semester due to scheduling conflicts, but I wish I had taken even more. He's great, funny, wicked smart and really cares about the success of his students. Its not an easy A, but you will learn a lot from him.
Nik was a great teacher, had him for elementary algebra. He is very witty and smart. He made the class enjoyable with his humor. I recommend him for any math class.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. Before I took this class I hated and was terrible at Math; after this class I now love it! He was one of the best professors I've ever had, and I'll be lucky to have another one as good as him in the future. Take him!!
this guy is on something else.
Such an awesome professor! I definitely recommend taking his classes if you don't mind putting in the additional effort. With Nik's style of teaching, you'll understand the course material much better and be able to apply it in subsequent courses. ps Complete the project asap or else..
Needs to control the classroom better and not waste time talking about video games. But overall great professor, explains the material very well and is willing to help you understand it if you don't get it. Tests aren't easy, but not impossible. There is a project. Notes on text required. Homework amount up to you. Cool accent. Nice & funny guy.
He is one of the best professors I've ever had. Has inspired me to become a Math Major and is an amazing person.
One of the best people I know, his instruction goes beyond a way of thinking about numbers, rather a way of thinking about life.
Great teacher helps you learn a lot if your confused. Do the online hw it really helps and there is extra credit if you do it.
Nik was by far one of the best professors I've ever had. He cares a lot about what he is teaching and wants you to get the same enjoyment out of the class as he does. He s extremely approachable, and makes his classes funny and interesting with his great sense of humor. His class is difficult, but he puts the work on you. Great Teacher.
Mr. Teacher man is a boss. He gets all the ladies I'm sure. Although he makes Toby torture me He is the best teacher I have ever had. He is very approachable and drives a sweet Audi. Always chances for extra credit and some manly advice on the ladies. He always says don't give up keep trying. He is the best instructor you will get.
I absolutely loved Professor Nikitovic. He took interest in his students personal life as well as academic. He was hilarious and made math fun and simple to learn. There was a lot of work but I promise if you do the work assigned online and in class you'll pass with flying colors. He is definitely a professor I will take again in the future.
Took him for a six week summer session of Calculus 2, to transfer the credits. One of the best teachers I've ever had. I can't recommend him enough.
LOVE Prof. Nik! He is hilarious & respected by everyone. He WANTS you to succeed & will help you-just ask him. He is so genuine and so kind its almost unheard of in profs now. Would take him for all of my maths if I could. If you are transferring out he makes it clear that if you need help-his door is open. I wish I could bring him to my next univ.
Just finished taking Nik for calc 3 over the summer, took him for calc 2 as well My greatest difficulty rating him is not having enough characters with which to rate him. Truly an inspirational man, fair grader, incredibly memorable courses. He made RVCC great for me. Take him for all math classes, you'll grow with him in ways you may not expect :)
Best teacher I've ever had.
I took Prof. Nik for Calc I & II over the summer. Hands down the best professor, and teacher, I've ever had. He knows the material inside and out, gives you the most efficient ways to work through it, and tells you what is important for different majors (yes, math actually matters). His tests aren't easy per say, but if you study you'll be good.
I have always hated math as a student. However, this professor has made me understand math. The professor is also very nice and very funny.
He will show you no mercy with the semester project, BUT (note: everything before the word "but" means nothing) his classes are so much fun that I took him for 4 classes. Also, he's excellent with explaining the material. So long as you pay attention in class and spend enough time on HW, you should do well (and grades are all that matter in life).
Very cool professor. He is very funny and passionate about math in general. The coolest thing about his class is that he steams all his lectures on YouTube so attendance is not mandatory. His exams are not that hard and he gives extra credit.
Had him as a prof years ago, but I still remember him. He's tough - his semester project was brutal, tests were hard but not impossible. At the end of the year I was so frustrated I took it out on him for being so strict (sorry), but we talked it out, and I understood him better. He wrote me a glowing recommendation afterwards. A+ guy.
One of my favorite math teachers of all time. He streams his lectures on youtube, so if you can't make it to class one day or you didn't understand the material the first time, you can rewatch the lecture online. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities before tests that will help you understand the material even more on top of the e.c!
His class is not mandatory, however there is a good chance that if you blow off class you will fail. He is a good teacher, on the other hand he lets the kids run the class in terms of when/if they have the test and when everything is due. this is dangerous, if the class mishandles it the class could have a huge work load near finals Good luck guy
Loved this professor! Actually helped me understand math and this was my first time ever getting a B in math as I usually am TERRIBLE. He records his lectures and uploads them online if you miss them and also uploads the notes he writes in class. He is seriously hilarious but also teaches you!! Little homework but helps you a long way!
Nik is one of the most caring professors I've ever had, he truly cares about his students and tries to give them advice outside of just calculus. he made the course very easy and accessible and was understanding to student's situations. "extra credit" is offered a lot so if you do that and put in the work you'll have no problem getting an A
i love this guy he is funny and he really cares about us learning. You dont even have to go to class which is mad chill that he doesnt take attendance. and the hw to get credit all you have to do is get 3 questions right on mymathlab (online textbook/hw thing) instead of doing the whole hw assignment which helps a lot
I thought this professor would be good according to the rating he has but hes nothing but unorganized and inconsiderate. He doesnt give back exams or anything until 2 weeks after and he doesnt post your grades so you dont even know how youre doing. And if you miss an exam even for a legit reason he wont let you make it up. Dont recommend.
Last week of the semester he changed the grade weight, gave us our two last exams, a 40 question assignment that only counted for 10%, and posted the exams at whatever time he wanted 12pm-11am, which made me miss the 3rd exam which went from weighing 15% to 25% of our grade. He takes a whole week to respond and isn't active online at all so beware.
I thought Prof. Nikitovic would be a great professor based on his ratings but he definitely cannot handle online classes. He gives you so much homework and there are tests every single week. There is too much information given in a week to understand and handle. He is poorly organized and I definitely would not recommend taking him online.
Took him for Pre Calc 1, he is an EXCELLENT teacher with homework almost identical to exams. You need to know the concept and exam is same thing just different numbers. I took this with a highschool lecture fresh in mind so it made class even easier. He livestreams lectures on youtube so you can rewatch whenever. A great teacher!
I don't regret taking him, although it was easily the hardest course taken in my life, and I'm good with math. As a Professor, he is not very professional. Took him weeks (with me following up) to get back to my email when I sent him my disability accommodation paper. His exams are incredibly hard, but you don't need to be in class for the exams.
My review is a little late, I took him when COVID was starting to originate so we switched midway semester to online. In person, he was AMAZING and goes over things that are unclear- just ask! Do homework, it helps ALOT. Some of my knowledge was incorporated from HS so some topics may be difficult for others, as his way was a little harder.
He is a great lecturer, but his tests are very difficult, with short time limits for the amount of material covered, and at least as far as online classes go, there isn't much feedback to go off of to improve. I really struggled to keep my head above water in his calc class.
i took him for calk 1 and 2 he is a great professor and is good at keeping class alive during 2-3 hour classes. his accent is easy to understand and will repeat things if you don't understand him. he also has his lectures on youtube in full. his homework policy is also nice.
By far my favorite professor! I always thought I was bad at math until I took his class. His teaching style makes the material easy to learn, & he works through plenty of examples in class. Lectures are engaging & on YouTube in case you need to review. He's just a really cool guy all around, you can tell he genuinely cares about his students.
I took his class based on the ratings here. But, I had to self-study the whole course because he would spend most of his class talking about himself. He teaches the course as if you already know calc I and not like he is teaching it to you. His exams are harder than what he teaches you. I would not recommend him.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Goes over many examples in lecture and makes sure you understand each step. Would also detail the algebra in problems just incase anyone didn't understand or forgot. Also has recordings of all his lessons online if you miss a class. His classes fill up fast so if you want to take him sign up early!
Nik is a great teacher and awesome guy. He starts the classes by saying that he doesn't care if you sleep, eat, etc.; your health is more important. He cares about all of his students. Even after I was no longer his student, he still spent hours with me looking over scholarship opportunities on zoom until it was almost midnight.
Nik is awesome. He cares about all his students, and is passionate about all math. He encourages his students to eat or sleep if they need to in his class, or even play games, because mental health is important. Even after I was no longer his student, he stayed up with me for hours looking at scholarship opportunities (until it was past midnight).
Overall a pretty easy course, but the professor made it a chore to attend class. Half the time he teaches while the other half is spent trying to be "offensive" and cracking jokes about how difficult it is to reach him through email. Never uploaded exam grades to anywhere accessible and was late to class more often than not. Extra credit was good?
He is the best math professor I've ever had. He really cares about the students and provides plenty of extra credit for each test. He is also very lenient with the homework and grading.
Amazing lectures! He goes over multiple examples in class and also posts his lectures on youtube for the students that might miss his class. He also provides plenty of extra credit opportunities and is really caring.
This professor does not prepare lectures before class. He comes and says whatever is on his mind, and it is hardly ever related to math. If you are not good at math this is not a good professor.
This professor is one of the better ones at RVCC particularly in the math department. I would recommend to take him over all the other math professors if you get the chance to. His lectures are a little unorganized since sometimes he talks about completely unrelated topics, but he is pretty concise generally. To pass, do the extra credit and hw
Prof. Nik is a really good person, however not so much as a professor. Often, he will get distracted and tell stories, so he will rush to teach the material. This is not a slow paced class, and it will move very quickly. I recommend going to tutoring center/ having study groups or you will fall behind very quickly.
This professor is a good person, he tries to make you laugh and feel comfortable in class however, he goes on random rants that are unrelated to math. This was a huge struggle for many students because the rants will cause him to rush teaching the material. He also does not post your grades until the end of the semester which really sucks.
Class was not listed (NTWK-119) Hands down one of the best chill professors, makes plenty of jokes during lectures and always had fun and exciting labs to do in-class.
The best professor in RVCC and anywhere else I have taken classes.
Professor Nik is amazing! He is the funniest guy and makes learning math fun. He gives a decent amount of homework but is willing to work with you and accommodate to your needs. He is a great teacher makes math easy. I withdrew from his class due to a personal issue but nothing to do with his teaching, he is great! 10/10 recommend!!
Best math teacher
Most of his lectures, especially near the end of the semester, were him going off topic and therefore rushing through the lesson. He gives assignments other than tests that help boost your grade, though. He's not terrible but I wouldn't retake.
funny human being but can go off topic in class multiple times and rush you with simple examples for the lesson but on the exam problems are even harder than anything he taught in class or even on the lab. take him at your will and if you're willing to learn and put time in but if you wanna breeze through... good luck :)
Math has always been one of my weakest subjects, but Nikitovic makes it a lot more fun and less anxiety-provoking. Even if you don't do well on an exam or the homework, he doesn't judge and always gives hope that there's room for improvement. If you need to take statistics, choose him. You won't regret it.
The tests can be difficult, and he grades them strictly, but there are plenty of extra credits and easy labs. Be prepared to self-study as well. Overall, he is a good professor.
I highly recommend taking a class with Professor Nik. I had him for a six week summer session. He kept the class entertaining while also teaching us well. I was nervous to take Calc II but he made it very doable.
Incredibly funny and cares about his students. Lots of dark humor and sarcasm included in his lessons. Will give real world examples but constantly gets off topic. Would recommend for anyone taking any Calc classes.
This professor is awesome
I love him so much. I ended up becoming his TA for MATH 020 and he is just such a thorough professor who will take the time to teach you topics.
Very energizing and incredible lecturer, never had a topic I didn't understand from his lectures. However, the class material is hard and you have to do homework/practice to solidify the sheer amount of information. Sometimes he has a tendency to not be politically correct, if that's a big pain point for you.
