Nenagh is the nicest teacher I have ever had. She has in class essays but if you prepare well you can pretty much get an easy A.
I love her way of teaching! There is no homework and only 5 essays ( 3 you could take home) she is a pretty easy grader. You can even get away without reading the book because she tells you everything. I would totally take her again!
Awesome teacher. You wont fall asleep in this class. No homework, just a few essays. PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE. There are 5 essays and only 3 count, takes the highest 3 grades. Take her but be prepared to work your ass off on those essays

Prof. Brown is the sweetest lady. Quizes are hard, but essays are WAY easy. Need to know LOTS of "nitty gritty" facts. She also has a great English accent, which makes it more fun to listen to her.
Brown is great! She takes a lot of time to help you understand the material and learn to love history the way she does. She really makes u work for your grade but its not impossible. Plus shes always in her office if u need her.
Professor is very nice and clearly tells you the information. You take 5 essay tests and an optional book report and 10 minor quizes. But the grade takes the top 4 scores between the tests and bookreport. Easy
She is one of the best teacher I have ever taken a class for. She is clear, animated, and helpful. Students looking for an "A" for doing no work should look to the other Brown. Nenagh Brown is for students who wish to pay attention and learn.
She's an alright teacher. She covers history but doesn't talk about any battles or war or the over throwing of Empires or anything fun about history. Good teacher if you like learning culture and boring stuff like that. Also her students are Narcs

She's the only teacher of Asian history in the region, so I had no choice but to take her.
She expects a lot but you can ask for help & she will give you lots of ideas. I learned a lot in her class & am greatful for that information.
She said she had little experience in Asian History, So why the hell is she teaching it? I dropped this boring class right away.

Very difficult. Had to drop within first 2 weeks. She is awsome if you can handle it, but make sure to get your "nitty gritty" facts straight. She is a total historian.
Very nice lady, really funny. Good teacher, but definitely expects a lot from you.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She teaches to all learning styles (I'm a visual learner). She knows her stuff. You always know where you stand, as far as grade. She cares about her students. I learned a lot.
shes really a nice person and trys to help in any way but all you do in her class is write essays n she grades really hard and she doesnt know too much about the subject so theres a chance you might know more then her
nice lady but isn't really around to help, she always says to see her aids. class was dull she gave the overview of what happened, nothing about battles or the people. not to exciting.the good thing is that there are no tests, you just have to write essays.but she is a tough on grading
By far one of the best instructors at Moorpark College. She requires you to work, but isn't that what college is all about. Don't let the work scare you because being in her class is very rewarding. I HIGHLY recommend her. Facinating lady.
An amazing teacher! I took her twice and learned so much! Very enthusiastic about teaching and history, i barely missed any classes because i loved to listen to her talk!
Excellent professor. Charming, interesting, thought provoking, and demanding! Expect to put a lot of work into the many essays if you want an A. Ask for help if you don't do well on the essays! The upside is there are no tests.
Took both these classes about two years ago. Easy teacher. When I took her we had two in class essays, and three take home essays. I suggest taking an ENG 101 course prior to enrolling in this course.
Keyword in this class is " knitty gritty facts". If you like a challenege take this course. She is very helpful but her classes are very hard.
Doesn't know that much about the material she's teaching. She seems a bit passive agressive and the British-ness only adds to her pretenses. Difficult paper grader, but doesn't explain what she expects.
Nenagh is one of the best history teachers i have ever had. Though she is not an easy grader. Her class requires you to write MANY essays. She knows what she's talking about. If you're not interested in History and just want an easy A, DO NOT take her. I worked VERY hard an managed a B.
I have taken 3 classes with Nenagh and I think she's an outstanding professor. She is a tough grader and has high expectations for her essays, but the skills you learn writing them are helpful for other classes. Nenagh is very knowledgable about the material and very enthusiastic at all times.
She is a very difficult teacher, but I learned so much about my writing style from her and will continue improving with each essay I write because of her! But don't expect an easy "A" I worked my butt of and got a "B"!
She really knows her topic and seems to enjoy what she is talking about. There are no tests, but quite a few essays. Taking an english class is probably recommended.
I love Nenagh Brown! She is the best instructor Moorpark has to offer. She goes out of her way to help you in anyway she can. She is very funny, her class can be a challenge, but it is worth it in the end. I did not want to take World 1 and glad I did with her, I couldn't wait to take World 2.
Nenagh most definitely knows her stuff. She's a hell of a lot of fun, and willing to bend over backwards to help a student out. She's always clear with her assignments. Be prepared to use boat loads of quotes in your papers though, enough nitty gritties to choke a donkey, in fact.
She is completely rediculous. she grades papers and by any means does NOT explain the reason behind the grade. she is not helpful and constantly rambles on and on and on, getting no where fast. she has favorites who she grades easy (the people who obviously comment) and its atrocious the way she put
Her idea of a good essay is one that contains 30 "nitty, gritty facts," meaning a name or a number. Analysis is pointless, just drop 30 names. A name is not a fact. It's a name.
Nenagh Brown has VERY limited knowledge of the subjects she teaches and will therefore fail you when you write a clear, well analyzed essay.Too much busy work:quizzes, site visits, book reports. Her voice(scottish accent)will make you want to take a hammer and 2 nails to your eardrums. kill me now
As much as I love her, her class is not for me. If you're one who appreciates noninvolvement in a class its not for you either. I like to show up for every lecture and just take some tests. she requires a bit more than that. Nonetheless she is a fantastic professor.

Not an easy A; however, Professor Brown is absolutely wonderful. She challenges you to think for yourself, which is very nice for a change. Essays are graded very quickly, and you are given 11 fairly easy quizzes throughout the semester. She helps the subject matter to be fun. Watch out if you're a slacker, though! You won't enjoy yourself.
Very helpful and extremely knowledgible. She is always available to answer questions and always shows concern for her students.
She is to picky about he papers you have to write. You feel like you are in english class.
all you do in her class is write essays, but i LOATHE history, yet she has managed to keep my interest. She really is amazing. She belongs in a category with John Baker...as best professors in the WORLD
I had her a year ago and her class was one of my favorites. She opened my mind to accually like history! Ya we wrote essays, and did real work, and it wasnt an easy A (i didn't even get an A), but i recomend this class to anyone and everone! And i want to take more classes by her becuase i think she is a good teacher, and she cares about the students.
eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww

I TOOK HER CLASS AS PART OF A LEARNING COMMUNITY TAUGHT W/ BETH GILLIS-SMITH. THE CLASSES WORK WELL TOGETHER, AND EVEN THOUGH ITS PRETTTY LONG, IT WAS WORTH IT FOR 7 UNITS!! NENAGH IS SMART, WITTY, AND WELL PREPARED. SHE'S A LITTLE TOUGH, BUT SHE WILL MAKE YOU A STRONGER WRITER AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE! I'M PLANNING ON TAKING ANOTHER CLASS WITH HER.
My favorate teacher at Moorpark. You will love her if you work hard and want to learn, and hate her if you are a C student who needs this class for GE. You don't need to be a great essay writer, but you need to be clear, and have the facts to back up your ideas.Every class is important and you need to take good notes. She is passionate about history
Nenagh is a wonderful teacher. Although she can be a tough grader, she is very specific as to what she expects and if you pay attention to that her class fairly easy...just make sure to use TONS of evidence in your papers! She makes history fun and interesting - something I would have never said about that subject before taking her class.
Shes a pretty strict grader, so don't go in expecting to have any easy grade (unlike some classes). In all honesty this is probably my favorite teacher in my 2.5 years at Moorpark. A few words of advice: 1) "Nitty gritty" is ESSENTIAL for her essays, 2) Make sure you get your essays checked by either her, or her volunteers before turning them in!!
An absolutely amazing teacher. I took the class for the hell of it and couldn't think of a single place I'd rather be than in her class. She makes history applicable to our lives. Granted, the class is really hard and I struggled to get an A, but it is SO worth it!
Nina uses slides, video, maps and lecture. She is always there for help. Class was easy. Attendance is a must. Would def. take her again.
a very nice teacher who is passionate about history and teaching. you can tell she loves her job and is more than willing to give you tips on what she is looking for in an A paper. one of my favorites at moorpark, if you do bad in her class it is only because you are lazy!
Awesome teacher!
I really hate history and this is a history class but if you need to take history take this. If nothing else she will make you laugh she is great.
Nenagh is English so she loves punctuality but its alright because she is sooo funny. She's an excellent professor and shows you how modern history affects the world today. Don't take the class if you HATE writing or love multiple choice tests. However, she is totally willing to help you learn to write better.
She was one of the best teachers that I have had at Moorpark. I left the class looking at the world completely different. She will help you along the way. Plan on learning alot about essay writing.
Nenagh's the instructor you hope for before you arrive to college and become disenfranchised w/ the reality. She's non-apologetic to her stringent requirements, witty, charming, fair, extremely caring of her students, & one of the few who prepare you for the next level. I'm grateful for taking her course. Huge on essays and thinking for yourself!
Nenagh brown is an amzing professor. I only wish that i would have taken her sooner so i could take more of her classes! 3 in class essays instead of exams, 1 at home essay and one book plus some in class seminars. She is very funny and extremely knowledgeable. you can tell she knows what she is talking about and loves every minute of it.
Ive taken her for M20A&B and I absolutely adore her! Her interest in the material makes her a joy to listen to. She tells you exactly what she wants from you and gives you a full layout of the course in the syllabus, no surprises! You can definitely get through the course without even touching the book but you MUST attend class and take good notes.
Teacher was nice. If yoou have trouble with the class willing to talk about it. But Ifyou don't like writing very much or history , the class is a little intense
Nenagh keeps lectures interesting and truly loves the subject. There are some quizes and 3 take home essays, no midterm or final. The class is very analytically focused. You only use the books for writing essays. If you are willing to work, its a very worthwhile class. I got an A without any trouble. Amazing subject and teacher overall!
Nenagh is awesome! She's really nice and really willing to help anyone who needs it. If you're a history major I would recommend taking her, she knows a lot about history. Her essays are kind of hard, but if you follow her format it's not that difficult, they just take a lot of time. Overall great teacher.
BRITISH, sometimes hard to understand. Good teacher, but when it comes to her essays...she knows exactly what she wants and shes a hard grader! She wants nitty gritty details! And you get document studies and the quizzes on them almost seem impossible. But I love the way her grading scale works! its based on points not percentage! TAKE HER!!!!!
Nenagh is an excellent professor. She knows what she is talking about and is very good at explaining concepts. However, she will definitely make you work for your grade. If you are looking for a professor that will prepare you for UC's, take her. If you want an easy A, take someone else. I would highly recommend her if you want to learn.
I adore her! Had her a few times, she really knows her stuff and her personal enjoyment of the material shows in her work. Always available when you need her. She will make you work for your grade though! Attendance is a must. There are 3 in class essays but she will teach you how to write them. If you actually want to learn, she's your gal.
haha, had to give her a chili pepper she always wanted one! I had nenagh a couple of semesters ago and i wish i had taken more classes from her! she is the best professor and inspired me to change my major to history (even though i always liked it). she prepares you for the work of a historian and the work for university level. Take her class!
Nenagh is the BEST. She is charming, witty, knowledgeable, gracious and willing to help any and all of her students. Anybody who says anything otherwise is, put quite simply, LAZY. Sorry, you're not in high school anymore and you can't expect every class/teacher at CC to be an easy A. Nenagh's class will challenge and excite you.
Amazing, She knows her subject very well and i have taken every class she has offered. The essay's are hard but she will teach you how to write them so after your first one you should have no problem. She has a great sense of humor and loves what she is teaching which is something you need in a teacher. No other history teacher can compare
Prof. Brown is a caring, enthusiastic, patient, and dedicated teacher. She wants to push you out of your academic comfort zone. Even if you are a great writer, she will make you better. At first, I struggled with her high expectations. Yet in all honesty, if you want to really learn, take her class; it won't be easy, but the rewards are tremendous!
Great teacher!! Professor Brown is awesome, really cares about her students and forces you to think on your own and form your own opinion. All essay-based! I personally wouldn't take her class over for this reason. But that doesn't mean i didn't enjoy it and learn alot..Her class structure just isnt for me.
Nenagh is an amazing history teacher and if anyone is a part of the history program at moorpark you must take her! Quizzes and papers are extremely precise but she is a very fair teacher and is willing to explain anything to you that you may not understand. If you're a hardworking person an A should be attainable for you
This professor means well and is very enthusiastic about the subject matter. To get an A all you have to do is give her what she wants, "Nitty-Grittys". A photographic memory is necessary for her quizzes. You will not like this class if you are not serious about school, people drop like flies in the first two weeks.
She is a very very nice lady just the class and what she assigns is extremely hard if your ready to work a lot and study A LOT then all power to ya
Nenagh is an excellent teacher and if one wishes to pay attention to class lecture and take notes, reading the textbook seems to be a minimal part in succeeding in the class. Her tests are in the form of essays, some are take home and some are in class and she makes you do a detailed outline for the first assignment.
Had her for World History Class. She is very nice and very polite adult from the UK. She is very helpful if you have a question and wants to make sure you understand. The essays can be a bit grueling and tedious but you learn A LOT about the history of the world. She is a star teacher for history and a lot of people enjoy her class.
A TON OF HOMEWORK. She is extremely difficult if you struggle in HIstory do not take her. She makes you memorize documents and take a quiz on them if you don't pass the quiz then the seminar points that you can receive after don't count either. VERY DIFFICULT. No test but after being in the class i would much rather take tests than the activities .
I absolutely adored Nenagh. She has such a passion for her teaching and will go out of her way to help you and make sure you understand the subject matter. Essays are difficult but not impossible, and the document studies are not hard if you actually read them more than once and not 10 minutes before class. People who say otherwise are just LAZY!!!
1. Everything is on the Syllabus so read it before you ask her a question about an assignment. 2. read, highlight, and annotate your doc studies.(Study them) 3. Her essay format is simple so FOLLOW IT even if it is against YOUR essay writing format. 4. Don't be a 1st grader and talk during class. she hates it. 5. I freaking loved her.
No tests only in class essays. You must memorize you nitty gritty points. Nenagh is the best instructor one could have. If you are here to learn take Nenagh, you will learn. She is very helpful.Go visit Nenagh in her office before your in class essays. She will make clear what you can not see. an A is easy if you do the work.If you want a C go away
Just lovely. No final exam, main grade is based upon socratic seminars and in-class essays. There are also small essays based upon the textbook, but they bear almost no significance on your grade. Nenagh is very helpful if you are having trouble in the class, and gives you more than enough time to prepare. She's also very enthusiastic and fun.
I've taken 3 of Nenagh's classes - HIST M20A, M20B, and M16. That alone should tell you something... Yes, her classes are a bit difficult, and have a bit of a work load, but it's totally worth it - One of the few classes in which you actually learn something. I can definitely say she prepared me for transferring to a 4-year - I Highly recommend it.
I love this teacher! Nenagh Brown is an extremely helpful professor and she knows her subject very well. Do the required quizzes and you can do very well. Her English accent makes the class even more interesting. Great teacher. Highly recommend for a world history course.
Maybe I made the English lady mad, but I absolutely dreaded her class. She doesn't teach to explain, but rather she tests to fail. The questions are set so that you're required to know every "nitty gritty" and not the overall idea. She lectures on things that are irrelevant and not on tests. She teaches as if everyone is a History-obsessed-freak.
She is the most horrendous professor i've ever come across. She will lecture on irrelevant topics not on exams. Every class has a test or an assignment due. Only take her if you have no life.
I took World History 2 and she does either lectures that didn't teach me much, or makes you read the book/documents she hands out in class and you have two quizzes every week. Most of you grade is on in class essays which are very challenging if you're not that great of a writer and even if you are she won't give you any higher than a B.
shes a good professor. shes kind of in her own world. read the Whole book and analyze your documents, prepare for your essays in advance and give evidence aka nitty gritties. dont be absent tests are not remakable. basically you have to teach yourself to pass so take it if you love history if not get a different teacher. her lectures are irrlevant.
Great professor. Not easy, but I highly, highly recommend her. (the strong British accent is a plus ;)
She is an excellent history and english teacher. However, her essays are extremely difficult (which are the majority of your grade). I learned an abundant amount of Asian history and she improved my writing immensely. I recommend her if you are a history, english, or international studies major since she is very, very hard, but oh so worth it!
She is an amazing teacher! She is very passionate and makes you want to be passionate as well! I took her Asian Civ class and your grade is based on 3 intensive take home essays, they are difficult but she helps you all she can and really wants you to succeed, getting help is easy and I would recommend taking her for any class!
Very understanding and loves world history. Gives more extra credit opportunities than any other class I have taken. Take her, she is adorable and you learn a lot!
Though she is difficult to please, Nenagh is an amazing teacher. She is truly devoted to teaching us history, and explaining the patterns within history to discover what drives any nation to power. Interesting, but LOTS of facts to memorize [for her essays there are no notes, just mere memorization]. She will challenge you, no doubt
Nenagh is a Wonderful teacher. Passionate, knowledgable, and extremely helpful. If you want an A you will need the book for reading quizzes. Otherwise no tests, just essays. If you're a better writer than test-taker then Take This Class. Make sure to follow her guidelines for essay-preparation and you will be just fine.
absolutely amazing. she is hysterical. the tests are actually essays and arent very easy. im not the best student and i passed with b. if you show up and take notes especially about the "nitty grittys" and read the documents you should get a b at least. she is more then willing to help go to office hrs! helps a lot. be an albatross, see the big pic
Not an easy class, but a WONDERFUL teacher. She is amazing, and very fun. Although I struggled with "nitty grittys" and had some difficulty with the essay tests, I really enjoyed the class and looked forward to coming to class each day. She is British, and maybe I'm bias, but I think her accent makes things a little more fun :P Do all the reading!!
One of the best history classes ever. It isn't an easy A but she gives you plenty of chances to bring in points so you can get a good grade. The class is very structured and there are no surprises at all. I highly recommend this class and this professor.
She is an intelligent lady and this class does require work, but overall it is mostly straightforward. The only thing was her quizzes. Many of the questions are trick questions and designed for you to get it wrong. But in the end these are small points and not that important. Don't miss class, you will be lost!
Professor Brown is fantastic. She really pushes you, but doesn't make anything too hard. She is the perfect mix of intellectual, and personable; and she has very odd methods--but, those methods were eventually helpful, once you get used to them. I would definitely recommend this teacher, for anyone: she will help you a lot.
She was amazing, proably could go on for ever taking about this professor. He truly loves the subjct and teaching it, she passes that energy to you and makes you want to really learn it and go to class. I'll admit this class required a lot of work, but its straightforward work, easy work but a lot of it. You do have to remember a lot for the essays
Prof. Brown will challenge you to think and write analytically, a vital skill for 4 year schools. Having been in a 4 year school and only going back to community college to keep my mind busy, I can say she is a university-level professor. The lectures are great. Be ready to read and write lot! The British accent is a plus, definitely!
This is a very difficult professor, but she will help you, and will not give you too much to handle. She will challenge you to think differently, and in turn, will make you into a better student, along with facilitating tasks that seem difficult. I strongly recommend this teacher.
Professor Brown is AMAZING! She's by far my favorite professor I've had so far this semester. She explains everything clearly and makes sure you understand the material. She is also grateful to help you with any questions you have...and her English accent is a plus! :)I recommend her!
By far the greatest professor you will ever have. Before I took this class, I honestly didn't know much about Western Civilization. However Mrs. Brown's passion and excitement in the classroom will make you stay focused and leave you wanting to learn more! She is very willing to help you with anything you don't understand!! Love her!!
She is a very gifted teacher, and an amazing person to boot. She genuinely wants every student to succeed and designs her class so any student can get an A with a little effort, even if history isn't your thing. I will definitely be taking another class of hers!
Professor Brown is an amazing professor, and I recommend her to most everyone. She was willing to spend time with me to make sure I understood the class. There's some reading involved, which wasn't too bad, and a few essays. The textbook is fairly inexpensive, as she used an old edition of the book. If you work and follow instructions, you'll pass.
She's really passionate about what she teaches. She tends to lecture things that won't be in the tests. It's almost impossible to get an A on her essays.
Awesome. Take this class. As long as the work is done like any other class you will get an A. 2 Essays, 7 Reading quizes, 7 Doc study quizzes and your lowest grade on both of those quizzes is dropped. some other fun projects as well. and group work for each segment.
Awesome and difficult teacher. It will not be easy, but she is awesome, so take her class.
There is A LOT of reading to be done for this class, but it's fair because she doesn't give big tests. We do two big essays a semester instead of a midterm and a final. She seems genuinely interested in her students and makes it a point to learn names. Definitely a very nice lady, and easy to talk to.
Ms. Brown was one of the best professors I've ever had! I took her 12 week course so there was more material to learn in less time, but she made it easy. Do all the reading for the study guides and document studies and you should be able to get an A or B, easily
Seriously love her. She's so sweet and funny. The workload is heavy but not too difficult, and I became such a better writer in her class.
Had at least a d+or c in the class didn't show up to the right day for the final so she gave me a f least she could do was give me the grade I earned and basically said she couldn't return my email until it was to late to do anything
Great teacher!! A ton of work, quizzes and something to turn in every week, but she is very helpful and is willing to work with you! No tests, just 3 in class essays that have to be super long, 1 including the final. I got a B in her class, and the notes that are taken during her class are pointless, just rent the textbook cause you will need it!
She is my favorite teacher so far! If you want a class that will be challenging but interesting, take her. Her course work isn't easy, but that is how college Is meant to be. It's not overwhelming ether. If you want an A, I would strongly recommend using her officer hours or a history tutor. If I was a History major, I would take her again!
Professor Brown really cares about her students. She knows so much about history and is willing to explain almost anything. Tough grader but worth it, just makes you a better student. Lots of papers, but nothing you can't handle. This is a great class if you're a history major. Take her!!
Absolutely love Prof. Brown. She's one of the best professors I ever took at Moorpark College. Some say she gives too much reading/ work but as a current student at UC Berkeley it prepared me for WAY more reading at a 4 year university. If you want to transfer to a UC a class with her would be very helpful.
As a nursing major, I feel that maybe this class didn't best suit me. But I did learn a lot, and Professor Brown is great I think that she pushed me to do better than I originally had planned. LOTS of reading and writing for this class, I think her class would be excellent for a pre-law student.
This course and this teacher are both very tough, but she is also very passionate and enjoyable. You will definitely need to invest more time in this course than most, but it is worth it in the end.
I would not take this teacher again. She was actually our Sub-teacher since our first one was on leave. This teacher did not do respect people's opinion about the course. The pace was unbearable. There is a lot of reading. TOO MUCH if you want to know the truth. Do not take this class with this teacher. Take it with someone else.
Did not get along well with this prof. I did not like her teaching style. There is way too much reading for her course. Exposed students grades so that everyone could see what everyone got.
Brown is a solid professor. She demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the relevant subject matter. Her grading criteria is clearly defined and she does give great feedback and extra credit. Her workload is more than that of some other professors so it might not be good choice is you're not a history major.
Took her for Western Civ during pandemic, there will be 1 or 2 assignments each week but they're relatively easy, you just have to remember to do them. She's very understanding about late work and gives extra credit. Lectures are a bit boring but she is very upbeat and truly funny. You could definitely get an A in the class if you do well on essays
Very nice and kind, but a tough grader
Professor Brown was truly one of the best professors I've ever had. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities. She also clearly cares for her students and the material she is teaching. My Dad had her when he went to Moorpark and recommended her. I learned so much in her class and if I weren't transferring I would definitely take her again!
I took an 8 week course of this class and it was not too bad. There were two sets of assignments per week which is good for an 8 week course. She gives feedback on all discussions and essays. Solid teacher and not too heavy on the workload.
Love Professor Brown. I have taken two classes already and would take many more if I could
I took Professor Brown's class as a hybrid class due to COVID-19. I enjoyed meeting once a week and completing my work online (more flexibility). She 100% wants to get to know her students and deeply cares for them and their futures. I would take her class again if I wasn't transferring. Definitely in my top three favorite professors.
not bad professor but on. Tried to get to know students but a little pushy and thinks she knows all.
Many years later, still one of my favorite professors of all time! She is a very smart, funny, and kind person. I was easily engaged by her teaching style, and I loved the way she would speak of her own experiences and be relatable. If you do the work, you'll get the grade. It may feel like a lot of reading and writing but it will be worth it.
Engaging professor with a relatable teaching style. Though the workload is hefty, doing the readings and assignments pays off. Also found unstuckstudy helpful for exam prep.
