Very knowledgable but his interpretation conflicts with other professors. Seems almost more interested in showing off knowledge than explaining it. Very important to do all readings & attend all classes as you are learning professor as much as material.
Very knowledgeable. Does give a different, but very interesting, insight and perspective but also very straightforward with his expectations on every assignment. Attend class and do the readings= you will get an A. His exams were a piece of cake, just make sure to spend time on his papers, he does read them.
Professor Kopalyan is incredibly smart. He provides students with a unique analysis on each political philosopher's work. This is an awesome course. There were two papers, one group project, and two exams. You must pay close attention in class, take as much notes as possible & READ! Kopalyan is one of the best professors I've taken so far.
Endless knowledge, extremely intelligent, and very clever. Subject matter is difficult, but he's excellent in explaining and interpreting. Do the readings and pay attention to his lectures. He's pretty arrogant (he's aristocracy), so don't be smart ass with him. Overall, great professor.
He's really smart, so if you're gonna challenge him you need to know what you're talking about. The readings are required, but he's more than happy to help if you are confused. He really makes the subject matter easy. He's a very fair grader, so his essays aren't too hard. He's kind of arrogant so don't be shocked. Would definitely recommend.
He reads from the textbook all class and assumes that students already understand the concepts. This makes it difficult to follow along considering students have different backgrounds. Not all students have taken philosophy courses before this, which can make the concepts convoluted and the professor hard to follow.
Brilliant professor! Had him for 409Z. Covered power and existentialism. That's no joke. For 375, he teaches Rawls and Habermas. He exposes us to complex thinkers who are very important. He's not for lazy or mediocre students. He is demanding, but the rewards are well worth it. He truly develops you as an intellectual. Highly Recommended!!!
Excellent professor with a wealth of knowledge. His courses require a lot of reading - if you can't keep up, don't bother. This is the third class I've taken with him and although he is demanding - I have never learned as much from another professor at UNLV. He makes sure his students understand the readings and is always willing to help!
The course can be hard but if you just ask him for help or guidance on the papers he will set you on the right track.
Professor Kopalyan is an amazing instructor. He explains political theory in an understandable way, and has a skill for keeping students engaged. Attendance is mandatory as his lectures clarify the material which you are expected to remember and understand. Go to class, pay attention, do the readings and assignments, and you'll succeed.
This is by far the most intelligent professor at UNLV. Tough course but worth it. I highly recommend taking this professor before you graduate. You WILL learn a lot.
He knows SO much about political theory. He's very clear about everything. If you ask, he'll help you out. He's an amazing professor and you will learn a ton, but you really gotta read and do the work for the grade.
Kopalyan is very specific about what he wants from his students. Those who are not capable of delivering that are going to do poorly. Count on long papers, readings that will require 2 or 3 re-readings, and some lively class discussion. If you work for it, you will succeed.
Professor Nerses is easily the smartest human being I have ever met when it comes to pure knowledge, especially with politics and history. The guy is pretty hilarious; he'll bash the American K-12 system and blatantly make fun of you to your face if you don't know something that, to him, is common knowledge. Take him if you want to learn something.
So much reading material, especially for a 101 class. A lot of the material he told us to read was never even discussed or on the exams. There are four exams, one essay, and one presentation. Lectures were long and really dry, he pretty much reads from his slides. He expects students to understand topics even if he never talks about them in class.
Highly intelligent, but a really tough grader with unclear specifications on the exam. We read 6 books this semester, and attendance (I would say) is mandatory as you'll be taking multiple pages of notes every day. End of semester included writing a few long comparison papers between political theorists, and you had better have good notes.
This professors teaching style wasnt very effective for me. I think it was way too much material and reading. The class was lecture heavy. It was hard to understand him half the time because of his mumbling. Theres not that much specification on what is going to be on the exams. He would basically just say that if you read you should be good.
Makes boring material interesting, and really elaborates on the reading assignments. He is always available and very helpful. Do the readings, follow the lectures (he even posts them on Webcampsu) and youll do well. Not too excited about his GA, but he is an excellent professor.
This course has a lot of busy work, with submissions due every week. But Dr. Kopalyan is always available to help. He gives a lot of feedback and specific guidance. The readings are also a bit difficult, but his lecture videos are very helpful, and when you email him with questions, he gives long, thorough answers. I think he's a great professor.
Quiz questions come from the book not the lectures. Online class with limited direction made it a little more work than 1 credit deserves. Class was only a month long but I did not feel I benefited from the course and felt the questions asked in quizzes and exams were too specific rather than general governmental concepts.
For an online class, I cannot believe the high quality of this course. Professor Kopalyan really believes in maintaining a certain standard, and this reflects in the assignments he gives and the amount of attention he pays to his students. I did not expect to learn so much from a single class. I highly recommend this professor!!!
Good professor who really cares that his students do well. But class is annoying with too many difficult quizzes. Workload is too much for a 1 credit class. So good professor, but difficult class.
Class is lecture heavy, but professor makes it bearable. He is super knowledgeable and uses lot of examples so students can relate. Must do readings and prep for exams. Also have a writing assignment, but he helps you so much that all you have to do is put in some effort. He's very elegant, so important to treat him with class.
One word: awesome. He just doesn't stop helping!!! All you have to do is ask. Do the readings, attend lectures, and you'll learn a lot. And if you need help, he is always available. Best professor I've had so far.

Doctor Kopalyan KNOWS HIS STUFF. He also expects you to KNOW THE STUFF Everything in this class is written: weekly one page papers, exams that are ONLY short answer/essay format, and one 5 to 7 page research paper. It has to be detailed, and you need to make it so that it makes sense. He is very helpful with his feedback and cares about your grade.
This instructor was great at responding to emails. Graded a little tough on weekely discussions. Weekly quizzes were very challenging. Papers was easy and there was a final with a study guide that was very helpful. Professor was great but the class itself was quite challenging. Listening to the powerpoints is key.
This professor is really knowledgeable. Your grade solely depends on exams. All exams are online which I like & there is no class that day. A textbook is assigned and it is recommended to read but I didn't and still did adequate in his class. Lectures are typically 30-45 min long so he releases early. Not a bad professor if you want a B.
He makes the class very easy; the exams are online. There are group assignments, and a group project and writing assignment both at the end of the semester.
Dr. Kopalyan is a man among boys! He doesn't just teach, he inspires. He provides so much guidance that it makes you want to be a scholar. If you take him, make an effort to get to know him and ask for his help. You will learn a lot. His class has lot of reading and writing assignments, but his guidance makes you succeed.
Very easy class- all of the tests are online. There is an easy group project and also a writing assignment at the end of the semester that will help boost your grade. Attendance is taken randomly, but this is not a class you have to always attend because all lectures are also online.
Easy class. Great professor. There are no classes the day of exams because they are all online. Make sure to read because exam questions come from the book. There are group projects throughout the semester. Attendance is taken randomly.
He is an okay teacher , during his lectures he mumbles a lot. He does post all his lectures expect towards the end of the semester. It seemed like a lot of work for a 101 class, but it is a 4 credit class. He gives an extra credit group project and attendance is extra. It can move you a whole letter grade. there is 4 test and 1 assignment worth 20%
Excellent professor, I had a good experience in this class. He is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. Pay attention to lectures (also posted online), attend class, and do readings, and should get good grade. He also offers extra credit assignment.
I dreaded this class, but Professor Kopalyan made it so accessible that I can't believe I enjoyed it. He's a walking encyclopedia; knows anything and everything you ask him. His lectures are very informative, and most of the time very funny. He has a few quizzes, but you have an idea when you'll get them; two exams, and a final paper.
Covers lots of material. An extreme amount of reading. He lectures are top notch and will always respond to emailed questions in detail. He puts a lot of effort into this course and expects a lot of effort on the students part. I was able to comprehend all of his ideas because of how well prepared his lectures were.
This is a serious class with quite a bit of reading and lectures. You're expected to know your stuff on the exams. But Dr. Kopalyan is excellent! He provides a lot of feedbacks, always willing to help. If you put in the work, this course is truly rewarding. 5 exams and a research paper are the requirements.
One of the best classes I have taken here at UNLV. I have learned so much from Professor K. His method of lecturing makes difficult or boring material very accessible. Class has four exams (all online), group projects, and writing assignment. I will definitely take him again for future classes.
Great class. I have never excelled in history/government classes, mainly because I am 100% not interested in the material, but his class was the complete opposite of what I have experienced in the past. His lectures are interesting and he explains the material in a way that everyone can understand. All exams are on online and he offers extra credit
This class is very easy. He is a really nice guy, going to lectures helps but you only really have to go to a specific few. Reading the textbooks is really helpful but most of the questions (online tests) are on quizlet.
PSC101 with Kopalyan was very difficult for a basic government course. He was very sarcastic and a bit demeaning at times, and I would say he is a tough grader.
Amazing professor! there are four exams throughout the semester which are online, that's a plus! Attendance is mandatory but only takes attendance a few times out of the semester but if you are there each time you get extra credit and there is also an easy group project that is also for extra credit! Great class!
Honestly, he's a chill guy, but his lectures are pretty heavy for a 101 class... it feels like a 400 lvl class sometimes. The class is simple though. Attendance is required for essay, heavy reading, 4 online exams, and an essay.
Your whole grade is based on 5 tests and 1 5-7 page paper. No discussion posts or other homework. Just read the lectures and youll be fine.
i took him for an online class. pretty good. there to answer questions. the modules were pretty intensive, but it was a rigorous 4 week class that ending pretty quick. good choice
This class was way to hard for a 101. The test were online, plus, but they were pretty tough and and long, 100 questions. Theres 4 test a writing assignment and the final, so your grade is determined by those. The one thing i liked about this class is that it wasn't time consuming. Wouldn't recommend this class to incoming freshman.
Great professor to have. I definitely recommend the class. It is lecture heavy but it is expected. There are four tests and a 5-7 page long paper. The tests are all online. Read the textbook and go to the lectures and you will do fine.
Awesome class, awesome professor. I'm not a politics major, but I appreciate everything I learned in the class. The class isn't hard. You just have to work hard. And Dr K is really special; best professor I've had at UNLV.
There is a lot of reading for this class, but all of the material is covered in the video lectures. Professor Kopalyan is extremely knowledgeable and really knows his stuff. He gives a lot of feedback and makes sure you understand the material. Class has 5 exams and research paper. Highly recommended.
I was recommended Dr. Kopalyan by a previous student who took him and I have to say he is an amazing professor in his field. You'll read a good amount from the textbook but his lectures go over the chapters as well. He's straightforward as well and can be funny at times. Solid professor.
I HATED his online course for PSC100; I am on the dean's list and struggled in this class. Your responses to other's discussion boards are critiqued more than your own posts. The ppts are extremely vague. The video lectures that explain them are done by a different professor and you have to take extremely explicit notes and even then fail.
Been at UNLV for 3 years, and hands down the best professor I've had. Unbelievably smart, informative, and also witty. He's that rare professor who demands and cares. And a big plus is how he incorporates his own research in his lectures.
He constantly reminds you to use your books which is so overbearing. Every time I ask him a question about something I don't understand, he always responds with a sarcastic remark. Bring your calculator for the second test or you will fail. He gives you only a month to do a 20 page research paper. Trust me, avoid taking him for this class.
You get 3 exams and a final exam. The exams are online and they are very easy. The attendance isn't mandatory but he does do attendance quizzes time to time so it's on you if you come or not. He usually likes to end class early anyways. Overall, pretty great and easy teacher.
He is the best and made class tolerable, even though PSC302 is terrible
This class was bittersweet. There's a 20 page paper which is terrible but I love Professor Nerses because of his humor and constant reminder that he's there to help. He believes in stupid questions so make sure you NEED him to answer your question and don't ask questions because you're too lazy to look it up in the book.
He's a nice professor. 4 exams and 1 writing assignment based off readings. Not too difficult. Some of the exams were online.
No powerpoints or busy work, it's all just him talking so you got to take notes the entire time or you'll fail. If you don't read the textbooks you're screwed for the tests. That being said, he is an amazing, funny, caring professor who knows basiclly everything in foreign policy
You definitely the need the textbook but the exams were lecture based. Take good notes and attend class!! There was a 20pg paper in this class. For the most part he's a reasonable grader. Professor Kopalyan is a great lecturer (no slides) and has a funny arrogance to him. The man is highly intelligent and can rock a good scruff. You wont regret it!
He has to follow the lectures of another professor so I guess that limits him but he has a clear grading criteria. The class is relatively easy but he would take some points off for unknown reasons. It was ok. But I wouldn't take it again, and I wouldn't take it with him either. But the course is self explanatory and if you do the work, you'll pass
I took this class over the summer for session 1 and it was incredibly easy. I was nervous about taking a summer class that was so accelerated but this professor really tries to make sure all her students succeed. I made sure to do 90% of the assignments and I know had I done all of them I would have gotten an A. Highly recommend her.
One of the most profound professors I have ever come across. He explains concepts in such a thought-provoking and immersive way that it fueled my level of interest to the point of studying more about political theorists/theories even after the course was done. Take this class if you want to have a challenging and memorable experience.
Pretty simple, one month long online class. Just set aside one or two days out of the week and you should be fine. Weekly discussions and quizzes, one paper, and a final. Every point counts!! Don't screw up the first assignments. I was doing well in the class, only missed a few questions on the final and it still dropped my overall grade by 2%.
This class is relatively easy as long as you do your work. But beware, he is a stickler on attendance and being late. Besides that, he is a good professor. He knows what he is talking about and answers questions well. Also, he gives two chances for extra credit. You also do not have to attend class on test days (they are online). Easy A.
Overall an alright professor. Dr. Kopalyan is a very fast speaker and he doesn't spend much time on each slide(most lectures are posted online after each class except for the mandatory ones you'll need to attend at the end of the semester) so I recommend bringing a laptop to type notes during. Easy EC is offered, but theres a lot of writing.
Dr. Kopalyan is a very good professor who is passionate about his field. But I was less enthused about the online exams because it was very specific in terms of the textbooks while lecture covered the very basic information. Don't take this class if you're booked with classes that demand more of the attention. Otherwise, I'd say take him!
HARDEST COURSE IVE EVER TAKEN! Assigns three take homeexams worth about a quarter of your total grade and a min twentyfive pg research paper with a min of fifteen sources which he wont allow you to use any online sources. Combining this class with my other classes, made it out to be an extremely TOUGH semester. Especially as it was my last semester
There is consensus among most of us students that Kopalyan is one of the best professors in polisci. This class was on a whole different level. His classes are not for lazy students looking for an easy grade. He is demanding, but he's brilliant. There is no way you walk out of his course not feeling enriched.
PSC 409J is a feminist theory course. Having a man teach a feminist theory course is like having a white person teach an African American course. Thats the universitys issue, though, perhaps. Overall, this online course features papers and exams. Everything is written, essay form. No multiple choice. Good power points. Tough grader.
Dr. Kopalyan is very knowledgable and always willing to help out or answer questions. I have always received responses to emails within the hour from him. If you pay attention and take good notes during his lectures you will do well. They are interesting and thought provoking.
Hes very educated and passionate for political science but if you, as a student, are not super into it, his passionate lectures will be misconstrued as boring. He has 3 exams and 1 final all online and one writing assignment at the end of the semester thats worth a test grade. He also has 2 mandatory lectures. Do not miss them.
While I hate feminist theory, Kopalyan made it interesting. You are graded by 6 assignments. While I would not say it is an easy A, it is definitely achievable. The one thing I disliked about this class was the way exams were set up. The exams are written and timed. However, he does not give you adequate time to plan what you will say.
I believed there were 4 exams along with a writing assignment. His lectures were always intriguing and weren't always mandatory(sometimes took attendance), but definitely were helpful. Exams were fairly easy, all online. Writing assignment could be hard if you didn't attend lectures. Had 4 group "projects", but they were in class, except the 4th.
Dr. Kopalyan is very knowledgeable about feminist theory and actually requires students to buy his book Sex, Power, and Politics which I think is a conflict of interest. In online exams, he primarily wants to hear his own lectures regurgitated back to him. You have more freedom in the 10-13 page term paper (analyzing his own book).
Dr. Kopalyan is, by far, one of the most intelligent and remarkable professors I've ever encountered. His lectures are wildly illuminating and profound. Trust that you will never think of the world in the same way again. That said, it's on students to make the effort; if you're lazy or looking for an easy A, his class isn't for you.
His class is pretty easy. He is a very smart professor and his lectures are pretty interesting, the exams are not too hard, the essay was a little hard. good teacher to take if you dont care for the subject much, not an easy A but dosent require much effort
I appreciated him only lecturing for about an hour despite the scheduled class time being almost 2 hours. I'm not really interested in the subject, but he was sometimes pretty funny. Coursework is as everyone says. Try to read if you can for the final, but you can survive without; good to have a friend in the class.
This one credit class online is super easy as long as you do the assignments and take notes from the online powerpoints for your quizzes. There is also a 700 word paper but its really easy it'll take you two hours at most to finish it.
There is a decent amount of reading you should do but as long as you take good notes and are good at referencing and finding material out of the books you don't *have* to read. Incredibly smart and funny. 4 papers make up your whole grade (w/ mandatory attendance) and he's a tough grader but gives good feedback on how to improve them.
I've taken numerous professors who've taught political and government subjects and matters of varying levels, though professor Kopalyan's method of instruction and empathy towards his students overwhelms that of any comparable instructor. Assignments and exams are straightforward while usefully accommodating the educational means for this class.
SO SO SO EASY. Its literally a 5 week course so there isn't much material but it was extremely easy even for that. Have weekly discussions and quizzes, one essay, and the final exam. As long as you take notes the class will be extremely easy, I got 100% on all but one quiz and got a B on the final exam. You don't even need the textbook to do it!
I am a psych major and this was, by far, the hardest class I have ever taken! He only gives five short answer tests and one seven page research paper for the whole semester. If you miss even one thing, your grade suffers tremendously. And dont even try to ask for extra credit or anything extra for that matter, hes cold as ice.
Prof Koplayan is an amazing prof who genuinely wants all of his students to succeed. The online format of the class was simple and easy to follow. He gave detailed feedback and paid close attention to each students' performance. He is very knowledgeable on the topic, happy to discuss any topic further. Graded based on 5 exams and a research paper.
Solid choice of a professor. I am not a political science major but he made the content easy to understand. Listen to the lectures and take good notes and you should do well in the course.
There are 4 quizzes, 4 discussions, one 700-word paper, and the final exam. The final as well as the quizzes are very easy to do if you read the materials provided and read the text book (which you can access for free through the library). You have to be thorough on your discussions, but overall, it was a very relaxing, stress-free class!
There are two books to read. The classes is straight-forward, but keep in mind it is time consuming. The test has 100 questions, so my head hurt after I finished. There is also a paper due towards the end of the semester.
For an online class Dr. Kopalyan is very organized and the class is designed in a way that makes learning interesting. He is very good at what he does, some times too good. Especially when he helps you develop your research question for the research paper. He's very popular, and I can see why after taking this class.
just read and take tests. not too bad at all.
I really enjoyed this course. Dr. Kopalyan class is more independent, especially now that its virtual, but as long as you read the lectures and book, you will have no problem passing. There is only a few tests and one writing assignment that you are graded on so studying is essential. Overall he is very helpful and available if needed.
Kopalyan's class was only 3 tests, an essay, and a final exam. There are no other assignments. If you are more of an independent learner or have a heavy class-load, then I highly recommend taking him. I never bought the "We The People" textbook, but you do need "The Sagebrush State." The lectures he provided were my substitute for the textbook.
Hard class for me. Only way to earn a grade is through 4 tests and 1 essay each 200 puts. No extra credit. Fail one your grade goes down big. Cannot go back to change questions already answered in the tests once u click next. Funny prof. But class was hard. Trust me hard to boost grade if you are down. No hate, all love pls respect my opinion! :(
The tests are super specific you actually have to know the terms and some questions werent even covered I feel like. I like this professor, but maybe not so much the course I wish I had known before I took how this class was set up.
Do not take him! He did not teach all semester and our grade only consists of 4 exams and 1 essay. The exams were pretty difficult and were each 100 questions long. His powerpoints weren't very helpful and were pretty vague. Take someone else if you can.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is a very tough grader. there are 5 exams. each exam is 3 questions & u have to type essays & it is out of 150. on my 1 exam i wrote so much only to get 98/150. u can find a better teacher than him. His lec videos are boring & he uses big words. hes a doctor but u would need to use a dictionary for every word. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Class is based on discussions, exams every other week & 5-7 page research paper. Exams are very lecture-heavy so take really good notes for the exam, which are basically essay questions with little time to plan out what you want to write. His grading seems a little random but the class is doable. Just email him if you have any questions.
I would honestly not take this class if I could have. There where no lectures just reading and the book was written as if you already knew the topics. There was four tests and one writing assignment so if you failed those it is almost impossible to bring your grade up. The writing assignment was not difficult and overwhelming.
Dr. Kopalyan is on the stricter side in terms of grading. Make sure to submit things when they're due because he won't accept late work. If you follow directions exactly, you'll do fine (I think he's been teaching this class for a long time, so he's probably not open to negotiation). Pretty interesting class and very cleanly structured.
Extremely easy course. 4 quizzes, 4 discussion, a 700 word paper, and a final. The paper takes at most 2 hours to do. Make sure you write in-depth for discussions. Also, make sure to not lose too many points because losing 10-20 points in this class is already down 2%.
Don't take this class unless you are a full time student with no obligations. There are 3 exams each a 25% of your grade and a 20 page research paper which is also 25%. This class alone has more work than the rest of my 3 other classes. The teacher is very passionate and knowledgeable, the course is just extremely hard and not worth it for me.
Worse professor Ive ever had at unlv. Do not take him. His lectures are not detailed enough and he barely teaches anything. He just expects you to read the textbook and learn about it on your own and then take his exams. Hes a tough grader. I just would not recommend spending your time in his class Im sure there is better professors.
I HATE THIS CLASS. literally the worst professor, he is hard to understand in the online lectures and doesn't explain anything clearly. I had to write down every word in the lectures to barely pass the exams. This class is very hard and time-consuming. I would not recommend. feedback is not really given and he grades HARD.
Short lectures, no assignments, only 4 exams and 5 discussions. Super chill, only upended the book a few times, learnings are easy and mostly review from past high school history/ gov.
There are five exams and four discussions in this post. You should be fine if you print out the lectures and take notes on them, but make sure to carefully craft your words and be specific to the questions he asks from the lectures because you can't Google your way to a decent grade. Nonetheless, he is an excellent professor who is knowledgeable.
Did not enjoy this class at all. The lectures are very long and adds abundance of information for a 3 three question essay style quiz. The time for the quiz can be unrealistic. Do not try to google test. Grades extremely hard on discussions for an online class that is mandatory. Does provide feedback but expectations are unrealistic.
Responds to emails really politely and timely, and cares for your success. He also makes really fantastic lecture slides! Exams are long, and I almost didn't fully finish my final because of the time limit, but if you study, you'll be fine. I missed one exam, couldn't retake it, and barely passed the class with a C. DON'T MISS YOUR EXAMS, PEOPLE!
His lecture slides are super detailed which is awesome. The exams were long, I missed a couple of questions on the final. There's a lot of material but if you study you should be fine.
Worst Professor I’ve had at UNLV. He thinks his 200 level course is grad school. His research papers and exams are so out of proportion. His exams are written (no multiple choices at all) and you have an hour to complete them. Even if you write a correct answer, if you write it the way he doesn’t like it you’ll lose points.
I took his PSC 101 class and it was pretty easy. There were only 3 long exams, and 5 discussion posts during the whole semester. His lectures/slides were clear and as long as you read the textbooks and watch the lectures with the slides you should be fine. The majority of this is basic government knowledge.
This class was web based but it made it really easy to get through all the material at your own pace. There are 4 tests and they are long but if you study you are set. Besides that the only work was 5 discussion posts due by the end of the semester.
If you do your work, this class is easy. Even though it was online anytime, I got a quick response via email whenever I had a question on an assignment. There are prerecorded lectures and PowerPoints that are uploaded that directly correlate to exam and quiz questions. Do the work on time and you'll get a good grade!
This class was great, I feel like I actually learned a good amount because I was able to go at my own pace as long as I finished the quiz and discussions at the end of the week. The set material is pulled directly from the chapters so if you study you'll do fine. Additionally, as long as you do what is asked in the syllabus you'll get an A.
Professor Kopalyan is easy to reach. The rubric is clear. There's 4 tests and 4 discussion assignments, so as long as you keep up and study, you'll pass.
This was one of my favorite classes. It's online so it allows you to go at your own pace. Each week he sends out an itinerary, as long as you carve out the time to read the chapters and watch the lectures you will perform well. The class is test heavy and has 5 discussion pieces due at the end of the semester. I recommend getting the textbook.
A brilliant man with actual experience in international politics and gov advising. Attendance isn't mandatory, but what's on the whiteboard is going to be on the test so I suggest you show up and take good notes. He's also hilarious and incredibly interesting, so his lectures are worth showing up to just for the knowledge and entertainment factors.
Kopalyn is easily the scariest but best professor I've had for political science. He is incredibly knowledgeable and super funny. His exams are complex and can be scary, you HAVE to do readings and use the lecture. Despite it being intimidating the content is super interesting and valuable. This was my 2nd class with him and I will fs take another
Online summer class. The course is really fast paced but the syllabus is very clear on deadlines. Weekly quizzes and discussions. 1 major paper and final. Overall, good experience.
Online class that was 1 month so it was fast paced, but basically weekly discussion and quizzes then a paper where you summarize a radio station episode and a final exam that had questions from the quizzes. Easy A in my opinion if you can manage the fast pace.
He is probably the worst professor I've ever taken... If you ever have a question about the readings he assigns, get ready for him to accuse you of not reading. Avoid taking this professor if you can. Enroll with a professor who actually enjoys teaching.
The class and teacher were okay. He doesn't give lectures or actually teach. He assigns readings and then assigns you a 1000 word paper to do with a group of people the following class period. Besides tests, all work done is group work.
Great Professor with interesting experience and real world applications of his work.
Nerses is an amazing professor. I took three of his classes during my time at UNLV, one of which was online. The courses he do are pretty difficult, but he explains a lot of things thoroughly. He is also a funny guy with some hilarious stories. I recommend his courses if you want to be challenged and awarded with knowledge.
Professor Kopalyan is very generous and will work with you if you need help. He might seem a little strict with some things, but if you're honest with him about problems, he will help a lot. He is also funny with his jokes in class and will either leave you thinking about deep philosophies or laughable moments in class.
Honestly one of my favorite professors. His class was a bit difficult, but he was very reasonable with the coursework and extremely understanding if you communicate with him.
This professor is super understanding, don't be afraid to reach out. His class is very straightforward and the expectations are set from the beginning of the semester. You only meet up a few times during the semester to do the discussions which are done in a group. If you need to take a political science, I fully recommend this professor!
Had him for COLA was such an easy professor. very understanding with attendance but rarely allows late work. always email if you're going to be late for class. grades very easy, and almost all assignments are 300-400 word “mini-essays”. final project was a research paper so start researching early! overall really ez.
Professor Kopalyan's PSC101 class is pretty straightforward. The lectures are informative, and as long as you keep up with the readings and use tools like unstuck ai for study prep, you can do well. It's test-heavy but manageable.
One of my favorite professors, he is extremely caring and genuinely wants the best for his students. It is very lecture heavy (be sure to take a lot of notes because a lot of the quiz answers are based off his lectures) but, he make sure to keep the students entertained and has a lot of funny stories! I loved this class!
I regret taking this class. I wouldn't say he is a bad professor. Initially, he provided clear feedback on grading. However, it be more fair if he just included his rubric. Otherwise, it's confusing when he says solid response then takes off points. If you excel at written responses, take this class. Otherwise, save yourself.
He is VERY specific on how he wants things done so pay close attention to the syllabus. Be aware that due dates are at 11:00 NOT 11:59! As long as you follow his syllabus, do your assignments, and study for the tests (always multiple choice) you'll pass. Not flexible about late assignments and if you miss even one thing it will impact your grade.
I literally missed the final and emailed him about it. He was understanding and re-opened it for me. His generosity is the reason I passed this class with an A.
The professor is a very hard grader and you have 70 minutes to write 3 short essay questions which is not ideal. No extra credit, and doesn't tell you want Is wrong. he doesn't believe in 100%
Extremely straightforward class and the syllabus is clear about everything. Don't turn ANY assignments in late and actually put some effort into answering the discussion posts. The content was interesting but can be a bit bothersome for a 1 credit class #real. He's a nice professor as well.
Professor Kopalyan delivers disorganized, shallow lectures filled with errors. The class is laughably easy yet unfair—grades favor those who flatter him. Little to no real learning happens; it's a waste of time. Take someone who knows and respects the subject.
