Professor Hill was the worse teaher that I have ever encountered. She wasn't helpful in any way to me. She is very rude and believes that she is better than everyone else in her class. While I was in her class she tried to single me out and act as if I wasn't intelligent. Just don't take her class

This lady is in the wrong building, she should be in FOCUS! She does not speak proper english, so how she teaches it is beyond me. Very rude, unfair, unpolite and disrespectful. Please avoid her classes.

I didn't even finish this class this semester. However, I still think that this professor should be teaching High School. She treats students like they are in High School, while this is college! As far as teaching wise, she's ridiculous! We are not elementary school students, we are college students!
She was very rude and unclear. I had her for Eng 096 and I think it would have been better if I would have taught the class. She can barely speak english. I think that the state needs to re-evaluate her teaching certication. Avoid her please!!!!!

ok. Do not take this class with this teacher. If you get in the wrong side of her, you are going to get in to a fight with her. Just try no to make eye contact. The class was not helpful at all, she just reads what the books says. oh yeah and she repeats the word "again" like 40 times each class. Very annoying. Don't get this teacher.
Prof Hill is a very good prof.Her class is not 4 lazy students.If u r hardworking she will give u wat u deserve.Shes cool and definitely speaks English fluently, and in a well expressive manner.Most ppl come 2 her class thinking its a playground well sorry, u gotta work hard.I had a B+ A- and A+ in all her classes.Go 4 her and work hard dats all.

She does not teach, nor does she explains anything other than her opinions about life topics. She doesn't even go over the info from the books. You do all the work yourself.

I took her course as a requirement. True she can be a pain, but she doesn't fail people on purpose. Just try your best and you'll succeed.
Very unorganized
I agree with all the other comments. She's always late to class, gives vague assigments and gets angry when asked for clarification on it. She just reads from the text, makes strange requests like, "your assignment is to go online and look at things" offers no insight whatsoever. Offers no direction, and has a wicked nasty streak. Awful, awful.

i got a B in her class i missed one paper i only passed because i never missed a class she even told me she'd make sure i passed because of this. i also learned nothing in her class, and struggled through eng101. easy class but if your in for the long run, DO NOT take her. she always came a half hour late and always made sure she used her sick days

this prof. is a very decent i have to disagree with all of the other people that said that she is unfair. if u fail the class its because OF YOUR OWN FAULT!!!!!yes occasionally she comes in late but in the end of the semester she took in our last paper that had to be less than a page as our final anybody who didnt do it had to do the final.
I temporarily attended Essex County College for one summer because it was cheaper to take classes there than my home institution. I had Ms. Hill for ENG 102. She was a great teacher. You WILL pass her class as long as you do what you are supposed to do. Most of my classmated from that class, including myself passed her class with a B.

Her class isnt hard, it's just that she really isnt clear in her assignments. she grades pretty hard but in order to pass her class....just read to passages that u are suppose to read and make sure u get the book on time. yes she does come late to class amd everything that was said about her is true but if u jus do wut i said it'l be o.k.

She is a great professor. I believe some people come to college with a high school mentality and she cannot stand that. If you assignments are done on time and right, you will pass. She might sound rude to some but to me she is just strict and does not like nonsense in her class.

She starts really out by being really nice & respectful, BUT when the semester goes on she decides to come to class late everyday and makes stupid smart jokes! Theirs days when you come to class and she makes you seat down & READ for half an hour like a 5 year old. She's direspectful, rude, and incomprehensible, and annoying. STAY AWAY!

Fair grading and cares about her students' future. Very rude sometimes even though I don t think she means to be. She s very helpful regarding the tests. The only reason I wouldn t take her again is because she s ALWAYS late! Always do what she says (she s demanding!),attend the class, PARTICIPATE and you ll get an A.

This woman has no Journalism credentials!ECC should be ashamed that they hired this woman as the program director.I have learned nothing in this course throughout this semester and I am devastated that I wasted 3 credits & money on this awful class.Clarity is not her strong suit and she is disgustingly rude. She's incredibly rude and unhelpful. She doesn't answer questions because she expects students to find their answers in their textbook. It's possible to succeed in her class, but it's necessary to do a lot of work on your own. Do all the activities she tells you to do and some extra ones to show that you're hardworking, and participate in class.

Listen, if you want to be good in English and writing papers, take her! I understand that we like the easy way out sometimes but trust me. You don't an easy way out as a foundation and write messy papers in your higher level. I'm so glad a took her class because I'm no longer afraid of writing papers today. Dr.Hill is an amazing educator, I worked with her for for 2 years, it was hard, very hard. I had to read, summarize, give a presentation and still carry 3 more courses. I learn about Journalism, laws, ethics, proper usage of the media and overall I learn how to be educated by someone who has standards.
After I read some of the reviews of the students who wrote negative comments, I am convinced that they are the students who do not attend classes, sleep in class, text during lecture, and lack home training and value. They are not serious about their education. Additionally, I understand that they did not learn anything to improve themselves.
What an amazing semester. Iam grateful I took her class, great preparation for the future. The method of teaching greatly improved my performances in other courses especially in assignments and class work. Most important is her respect towards her students. I would recommend her to students.

I am very proud to have taken Dr Hill's class in the just finished semester .English 263-001 I enjoyed the class so much especially the class participations and group presentations, in which different opinions were raised and addressed. In that class Dr. Hill taught us a lot and prepared us for the future as we plan to move to the university.
In few words, Dr Nessie taught me as a student to be at the right place at the right time doing the right thing for the right purpose. she is a great Professor. she is very respectful and understands the needs of her students. iam delighted i took her class.
Dr. Hill continues to take her students to heights that are reached and kept. In her class tools are mandatory -- such as dictionaries, pens, notebooks, and textbooks. Students are encouraged to read! Dr. Hill emphasizes that students have textbooks that they purchase, and it is good practice to read those books while waiting for the professor.

Dr. Hill is very tough on her grading and expectations of her student. She is very challenging and wants everyone to participate. I had her for Women's Literature and enjoyed her class. If you don't like to read, be challenged, or group projects do not take her. She is a magnificent professor. I will take her over any other professor.
God help your soul if you get this woman. She is not only disrespectful but yells at students for absolutely zero reason, and has made students cry before. Professor Hill shouldn't even consider herself a professor, she literally sits in her chair and expects her students to learn on their own. She barely gives any work, which as a result you're given a low grade if you don't do well in the work she does give. All I did this semester is SOME online work and TWO essays (midterm & final). Horrible!
I would never take her again. She insulted me, and gave me a c. Was consistently tardy to class. Failed to cancel class twice she just did not show up. Gave me a c because I crossed out a sentence on a test. Did not teach just gives a bunch of assignments from the textbook.
Professor Hill will make you work for your grades. She was the first professor to advise me to use the learning centers. She inspires and advises. Does not entertain laziness and lateness. She teaches well and she is caring. A disciplinarian for those who are not ready for school. I admire her. I learned so much and I apply what I gained from her.

Dr. Hill is a no nonsense professor. If you want to learn how to write well and you can handle not using phone in class, this is a great professor. Professor Hill was very tough at first, but you will learn to love her eventually. Our class discussions are very insightful and the reading materials are always interesting. Professor Hill is an amazing lecturer, she will teach you until you understand each topic. She taught me how to write essays. She equipped you with brainstorming techniques that you can you for a lifetime. She is a real gem and not a bad grader.
Off bat, I was not very fond of her due to her nasty way of speaking to people but nonetheless, I tolerated her behavior as long as she does not cross any lines. She crossed the line. On this day , we spoke on behalf of my essay and my time spent there was wasted. She talked the entire time and eventually changed my grade to an F. never again!!!!

Two words "Avoid her"
She doesn't teach this class classically, and thats for the worst not the better. Her "note taking" technique is a hodgepodge of multiple different styles that ends up with confused students, and its compounded by her inability to accept criticism or answer questions. She's an OK teacher if you just need the credit but I would avoid her.
She has a very terrible attitude. She will talk to you as if you are uneducated, makes you feel bad if you answer a question and it ends up being wrong. Notes have to be a specific way otherwise she will not accept them. Constantly yelling and does not know how to talk to her students. Complains over every little thing and IS ALWAYS LATE!!!!

She is unbelievably rude and treats you like you are always below her. She logs in late and complains on how bothered she is with others. She doesn't check her email and is a very hard grader. She expects all work to look exactly how she tells you in otder.
Easy class, interesting readings. But she is very rude (seemed to always get mad at people for asking clarifying questions) and your writing will not improve in this class. I genuinely had to dumb down my essays to avoid losing points! Assignment formats were confusing and essay prompts/rubrics did not allow for any creativity.
Dr. Hill is a great professor who is invested in the academic performance of her pupils. Many students forget that this is college and not elementary school and that she will treat you as such. Started this class for the summer & ended up withdrawing. She's not very responsive when reaching out to her via email in regards to the course. When she does respond, she's not very welcoming. She takes a long time to grade work. When work is finally graded, grades very tough for easy work. My GPA is a 4.0, I wasn't risking getting a low grade.
