she's got a lot of energy, and you can tell she loves her job!
Godess; must be heralded on high by mighty Zeus...i.e. every man alive!
what a smokin' hottie. she was the best prof I ever had. i love her enthusiasm
Beautiful. Knowledgeable. Clear. Everything I would want a prof to be. Yay Professor Gordon!
So smart, so cool, so enthusiastic, so beautiful. This woman has it all, and then some. GREAT PROF.
by far the best prof i have ever had!!! She rocks!!!! She is SO intelligent and makes the classes interesting...and she's witty...
Amazing woman.Enthusiastic and energetic. SO friendly and open! Prof Gordon ws everything that a professor should be and she challenged me to think on another level like noone has ever done! You should teach every course!
She rocks. Just plain rocks.
Very friendly approachable professor, but the lectures are too much like a seminar.
I like Gordon, but she seems a bit absent minded to me. Kinda wishy-washy too. I like her lectures, minus the seminar-like quality from time to time. Plus she doesn't seem to like to listen to other's opinions.
I enjoyed her seminar and the TA was good too...
Sooo much enthusiasm...if you want a prof to get you're attention at 9am...she's the one to do it! She's a great prof!
she's good....but that class needs some new TAs..
Liar, uppity, and thinks she god's gift to academia
Great Professor and an amazing teacher.Best class I had all year;so cool I can only assume that when she sleeps sheep count her. She is #1.
Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject. Very helpful. Very hyper, but fun.
makes can. lit. even more boring than it already is.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! 1) Hate modern lit. 2) Hate Can. lit. She changed my mind & taught me to appreciate something I would normally write off. Knows her stuff inside & out, but isn't so entrenched in academia that she can't just say "I loved this". You've got to respect her ability to balance her family (daughter is so cute!)& her career.
The best professor I had at Brock was definitely Dr. Gordon. She is clear, so helpful and encouraging, and truly loves what she does. I hope any english student at Brock gets the opportunity to take one of her classes. Enthusiastic, fun, and knowledgable.
A passionate professor...There is no way she made anything "boring" as one person commented. Love her, but she can be a little intimidating. Neta has high expectations of her students and wants to see them succeed.
She comes off nice, is a good lecturer, but is actually a rude person. She is a user. She does not keep her promises. For the head of the department to be telling 4th year students personal stories that make fun of lower years is rediculous. Nice mask Professor Gordon, some of us see you for the real person you are.
Sure the course was hard, its english, duh? But those of you complaining about Dr.Gordon... did u go to class? Did you use her office hours? Obviously not. I did and she helped me SO much! She is a great teacher, extremely helpful and cares about her students. The best prof at Brock.
Professor Gordon is by FAR the best professor I have had. Her lectures are extremely interesting and she is extremely helpful, especially to those willing to put in the effort. This course is not a cake walk - you WILL have to work. But it was interesting and I genuinely enjoyed it. I hope to have her again.
Best 1st year lecturer ever: clear with powerpoint prepare. Sets out her strategy AT THE BEGINNING OF THE COURSE! No surprised(like Speary's id.ioti syllabus).u don't get bored in her class. workaholic. preplanned seminars. asks too much from herself, and her TAs, but only asks her students to : WORK HARD
I absolutely LOVED this class. I looked forward to lecture every single week. It was just fantastic. Professor Gordon seriously has a gift for teaching English. She helped me become a better writer, a closer reader, and sparked of love for literature in me. Attending class is crucial, but SO worth it. She is an exceptional prof.
She is great, I mean it. She really makes you want to learn. Its not as hard as everyone says it is, just PUT IN YOUR TIME. oh and go to class :)
she is awesome ! truely a great prof ! so enthusiastic and really knows her stuff.
Amazing prof! I came in thinking I would hate this class, but she`s so enthusiastic and incredibly helpful if you go to her office. She also knows all of her students by face, if not by name.. if you go to class
Probably among the most enthusiastic, funny, charismatic teacher at Brock. It seems to me like tries to be lenient in marking, but the vast majority of students just suck, and that's why her difficulty is perceived to be so high. Overall excellent teacher.
Amazing Prof, very helpful :) Explains everything very clearly but I found she was a hard marker
Loved Gordon! I only had her in first year, but I really learned a lot and my writing improved by a long shot. The course prepared me for the expectations of my future engl courses. Genuinely kind, can be quite strict with regard to deadlines, as most of the engl prof are at Brock anyway! Prepared me for my later years
Enthusiastic and passionate about subject matter, makes things easy to understand and has high expectations of students. With that said, taking kindergarten-style attendance in a 3rd year class is ridiculous. If you miss a class, she strongly dislikes you and never gives you the time of day ever again
Informative lectures. She always created an argument about the text discussed in lecture, pointing out paradoxes and pointed out what the text is doing. Her lectures taught students not only about the text, but methods of analysis and how to actually construct an argument.
She truly has a gift in teaching English. She's made me a better reader and writer. She doesn't expect too much from her students on the contrary to popular belief. I'm a math major and I got an 88 in her class, you English kids should be able to surpass that if you work hard enough!
Her lectures are entertaining, and she seems approachable. However, due to scheduling errors I missed some seminars, and she said not to worry about it (very vague reply...). She acts nice but has been very rude, even accusing me of writing my response in seminar, when I was right beside her! If I could drop the course, I would.
Dr. Gordon is an AMAZING professor! Super clear and makes sure you understand what's happening. She is very easy to approach and talk too if you need more help. There's lots of readings, but they aren't boring reads. She makes lecture very interesting, good class participation & I always looked forward to the classes! By far my favorite professor!
Incredible teacher. Passionate about what she teaches and more than willing to explain more in depth. Not exactly a tough grader, but a fair grader. You won't get a 70 on an essay you worked on for an hour. Seminars are also very interesting and informative; teaches you some solid essay-writing skills. Do yourself a favour, learn the terminology.
AMAZING!!!!!!! Shes so passionate about what shes teaching, she jumps around and acts it all out and shes hilarious!! Youll never be bored in that class, like EVER!
She is an amazing prof! She is so enthusiastic, and knows almost every person in lecture by name! I am not a fan on English, but she makes it interesting!!! Anyone who has her as a Prof is a lucky English undergrad!
She is a great prof. She is super enthusiastic, knows anyone who speaks in lecture by name. She always tries to make class fun and interesting! If you don't go to lecture though, you're going to be screwing yourself because she posts lecture slides but exam material is on what she says about the quotes and lecture slide material.
Amazing professor. Very sincere and helpful. Really cares about her students. She is always there for you if you need some help with anything about the course.
Professor Gordon was definitely my favourite teacher after first year! She was so easy to approach for help and was always willing to help. Although the readings are long, she explains it very well and always makes lecture fun. I'm not the biggest fan of english but she made me love it! If it wasn't for her I probably would have dropped the course!
Neta is amazing! She's always there to help you work on your writing and analyzing abilities. Her lectures are awesome and even though the material can sometimes be a bit boring she makes it worth while going. She often gives exam hints in class and her exams are based on the stuff she says not the lecture slides so go to class and you'll be fine!
I loved Professor Gordon, I had an issue with exam scheduling and she immediately tried to accommodate my exam schedule so I wouldn't feel stressed with the other 3 I had in one day. She consistently shows she cares about her students. I recommend her to all my English friends.
Neta is awesome. Really funny and interesting person. Really cares to explain things so everyone understands and just loves what she does. I learned a lot from her class.
Hands down best professor I've ever had. I'm a science major but this class taught me so much about literature and how to approach it. Dr. Gordon was super passionate and enthusiastic as well as very funny and kind. Would definitely take more of her classes if my schedules allows me to!
Neta is such a lovely prof, one of my favourites, I really enjoyed going to her lectures. She's so invested and passionate about the topics. She's accessible outside of class and pretty approachable. There are a lot of essays, but that's kinda a given for an English class. Read BEFORE class, actually go to class, and ask questions.
Absolutely amazing Prof. English is not my forte, but Dr. Gordon is so energetic and happy all the time, that it isn't hard to be involved in lecture! the content was difficult for someone who isn't an English major but doable! Teaching style is fun and engaging. I wasn't the best in this class but she recognized me outside of class and chatted!
Literally the most amazing professor I have ever had I take every class she teaches, she is so willing to help her students, attend her lectures they are so interesting and you will learn so much, also a very engaging professor where she likes to ask questions and have the class involved, read before u go to class though or you're kinda screwed xox
Professor Gordon is definitely my favourite prof. She makes class very enjoyable through humour and I love her lectures. She is also very approachable and I feel totally comfortable asking for her help with assignments because you can tell she cares and wants to help.
Everything she taught in this class you will be able to apply for future English classes. She is organized and follows her syllabus. She's funny and respectful of her students but she's tough and makes you work for it.
Neta Gordon is hands down the best professor at Brock university her lectures are clear and concise! She is so understanding and willing to offer extensions and extra help if need be
So all these folks below me saying they got As and A+s are straight up being dishonest. This is a full year course, so YOU don't know your final mark yet. Shes a pretty good prof. Course is very heavy.
Neta Gordon is by far the best professor I have encountered in Brock's English department. She truly cares about the success of her students, and is approachable if you need to speak with her about an assignment. She is clearly knowledgeable about the areas she teaches, and her lectures are easy to follow as she posts her slides. 10/10 prof.
Excellent lectures and seminar. Would absolutely take another course with Dr. Gordon at the helm.
Go to lecture lol cause it matters,
The ideal Prof. Well organized, very knowledgeable, entertaining and the course material provided is always straight to the point and specific. Lectures are a wonderful tool to understand material better, but she still provides a lot of other useful resources that also provide lots of extra help too (In case you miss lecture or not). Great for Y1
Gordon gave me the best first-year English class experience! She was very clear about her expectations, was available for questions, and I enjoyed every lecture. She has great character and truly knows what she's talking about. Put in the work, do the readings, and you'll see success!!
amazing teacher!!! by far my favourite prof! she made first year work in english not seem scary at all and made her lectures very fun and entertaining for early morning lectures she definitely made you wanna go!
Professor Gordon is a great teacher who brought me back to my passion of writing. I look forward to more classes with her :)
Professor Gordon is awesome!! I highly recommend her. She is always willing to help her students! She's very approachable and friendly. Ive been in two of her courses so far. Her lectures are great, so make sure you attend and pay attention, if you do, you should do well in her courses!
Dr. Gordan is very nice and her lecture style is different because her lectures have lots of participation in them. There's lots of homework and readings/analysis to do but it is all for prep for the assignments, If you skip a lecture or two make sure to get the notes! You'll need them.
very fun lectures that actually let you participate. lots of seminar prep. and stuff to read, but it's worth. interesting material &helpful seminar. 1st teacher who actually taught me how to properly analyze/make a thesis. everyone i talk to loved her class. I really enjoyed her class and look forward to taking her in the future!
Gordon is always energetic during lectures and makes me feel awake even in a 9am lecture. Although she is very enthusiastic about what she is teaching, the course material is loaded and you really have to know your stuff to do good in this course.
Neta Gordon was fantastic! She really cared about each student and her lecture were entertaining and though provoking. I highly recommend going to classes- she will give hints about exams and her commentary makes confusing concepts easy to understand. Definitely take any of her courses if you get the chance!
Prof Gordon was a great teacher! She actually made me look forward to going to a 9am class. She is so energetic and passionate about what she is teaching, and it affects everyone for the better. She likes to dance around and make all her students laugh, which creates a great atmosphere. She gives hints about the exams as well. I would recommend!
Professor Gordon was a fantastic prof and I would recommend anyone to take any of the classes she teaches, her approach to education is great, you imagine you're working through the idea with her not just being told an idea in lectures. When you read, the connection between the lectures and the books is more meaningful due to her great teaching.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. She is the best prof to have ever graced Brock and I STRONGLY recommend taking any/all of her classes. I have never grown so much at literary analysis in 12 weeks... her class and her feedback boosted my Mark's in other classes. Got a problem? GO TO NETA. She is so caring and kind. I honestly love her so much.
She's awesome. Always willing to make time to meet with you, and read through your papers with you. She also lent me a book which was super cool, and is organized but still relaxed enough.
Snobby professor. I had her 3 years ago and still remember how much she disliked science students. If your looking for a course where your effort will give you a much better outcome, highly recommend 1F97-much easier course science students.
I cannot explain to you how amazing this woman is. I am in her online class and her set up and organization is phenomenal. Lectures are filmed so you can see her (LOVE), and complete with checklists and easy quizzes free marks. Projects are heavily based on her lectures which is OK cuz her lectures are amazing. She responds to any email quickly!
Absolutely amazing instructor! Her online setup was extremely organized and her lectures were split up into short videos that were truly enjoyable. She was always available for consultation on assignments, she is very approachable and genuinely wants her students to learn and do well in her class. I can not recommend her enough!
An indifferent professor with no sympathy at all!
This professor does not allow students to submit late works no matter what. Plus, all students have to submit their works 24 hours before the seminar. But everyone has a different time for the seminar, which means everyone has different deadlines. This is NOT FAIR!!!!!
An arrogant and self-righteous professor who always thinks shes the best professor in the world.
A heartless professor with no compassion at all! And always likes to discourage and deny the students! So please dont choose any of her classes unless if you have a stronger heart and good mental health!
I used to be interested in literature, but not anymore because of her class! There are too many restrictions for the assignments and papers, and there are also too many standard answers! Since all of the works must be done according to her standards, it limits my ability and performance in literature!
This class has a high level of difficulty and too many restrictions. And all of us must do the way the professor wants for every assignment and paper. The high limits and demanding professor makes everything extremely difficult.
The course is not only hard, but also a heavy workload. And the professor is very strict, and it is very difficult to meet the standard.
This course is very challenging! Especially, most of this course is in old English, like Shakespeare. And this course has very high requirements if you want to pass or get high grades. So, I don't recommend this course!
If you need humanities credit, please don't choose this course! You'll regret it!
If you need humanities credits, please do NOT consider taking this course!
Overall, the lectures are not bad, but the professor is not really an easy-going person. It will be very challenging if you want to get a high score.
The professor gives good lectures, but she is not a very kind person.
The professor is good at lecturing but very demanding. Its not easy to get a higher grade in this course compared to others.
Tough grader the best way ever to describe this professor!
Good lecturer but not an easy person.
She puts work into her lectures and she wants to give people good marks, u can tell she cares about her students and shes very kind
lol bestie leaving the 20 identical bad reviews clearly didnt like that you have to write in an english class. "id rather not say my grade" maybe if u went to the classes you'd know what happened in class?
shes the only proffesor that ive met who actually gives good bonus marks, plus her assignements are open ended and fun
Neta is so intensely caring and helpful that shes the only reason im able to be in university rn
lovely lady
One of my favourite professors so far! She is very easy to speak to, and has talked to me after lectures multiple times. Her lectures are super entertaining and go by really quickly, so I don't mind attending them.
Professor Gordon is one of the best professors I've had at Brock. Assignments and essays were fun and open-ended. Lectures and forum activities were always very engaging and interesting.
Probably the sweetest professor I've had so far. Her excitement for the course material was contagious. She also treated students as equals to herself (as much as a professor could) by holding book clubs, and including them in her lectures
One of the best teachers I ever had at Brock. The assignments are super fun. I felt like I learned a lot in her class.
So Sweet! Just a hard marker but gives great feedback.
Dr. Gordon is a good lecturer who is enthusiastic about English and clearly loves her job. She tries to make the lectures fun and encourages participation and discussion from students. She is not very patient and will interrupt students, but this may be a necessity since lectures are only 1 hour long. Hard work is required to get a good grade.
This was the first time Dr. Gordon ran 4P64 which made a few things challenging but she's always open to feedback! The weekly novels were a little big but the books were all very interesting and I'd re read them again. ENGL4P64 is an easygoing class and Dr. Gordon is amazing! A decent grader, has light lectures, and wants her students to do well!
She made lectures fun.
Great lectures! A bonus that they are recorded and posted online for students convenience. Hard work is required for a good grade.
Prof. Gordon constantly engages with students and demonstrates a strong grasp of the lecture material! Note that you need to put in the work to get a good mark, as the TA's grading is quite intense. Despite this, she sets you up for success and is a great professor to have for a first-year English course. Would definitely take it again!
Nice lady, cares about her students, seminars are interesting.
She was an amazing lecturer! One of the few I was actually excited to go to.
Dr. Gordon is a fantastic professor! She really enjoys the material she teaches and is so helpful and caring. I struggled with a topic for the final essay and set up a meeting with her and she helped me develop an outline and a thesis, and helped me find the sources for the essay. I would 100% recommend taking her class!
Her 3P44 papers can be hard to write, but she more than makes up for it with the small quizzes and journal entries. Always records lectures, which I always appreciate for quizzes. Participation is not required but she is very respectful with whatever is said. Admits her own faults and adjusts the syllabus as needed, which is much appreciated!
Great prof to have for an introductory course in Uni. Passionate and focused lectures with a strong emphasis on essay writing/practice.
She's great! Engaging lectures and cares about how her students understand texts. She's good with first years too. Sometimes intense or strict with certain things though.
Dr. Gordon makes every class an absolute blast. She also records every lecture and posts it online for students who are absent- without fail. She gives clear and concise feedback on work and is always willing to respond to questions for help. She is warm and welcoming and I cannot recommend her enough
Professor Gordon was absolutely wonderful! She loved to engage with her students during lecture, she fostered a calm and welcoming environment, and overall had a wonderful attitude. The demeanor of a professor really makes or breaks the course for me, and Professor Gordon was absolutely wonderful.
She is very nice and out going. She loves it when students participate in lectures, but she doesn't call on you, which is great. Her papers are kind of tough but if you attend office hours or talk to your TA then you will get the help you need. Quizzes every week and claims they're easy but it takes a lot of time to get a good mark on them.
Amazing professor for a first-year class who made me decide to pursue English as my major going forward. Difficult assignments but great feedback was provided, making it easier to improve on subsequent ones. Recorded lectures were great and made it easy to catch up. Engaging lectures and seminars which provided plenty of valuable information.
Professor Gordon is very passionate about what she is teaching which is nice. She will call out students in front of everyone for talking or leaving class so beware of that because she will humiliate. She's kind of rude but good at what she does.
Professor Gordon is a great lecturer. She is also firm but very fair. She has a very particular way to write an essay which is complicated but is patient and breaks the writing of the essay down into parts, it is still very much her way or the highway. Overall she is passionate about the subject and a great person and gives great detailed feedback.
Neta has got to be one of the best English profs I've ever had. Her class was engaging, her lectures are fabulous. the assignments were actually very fun and interesting. Love love loved it. She is wonderful and so are all of her TA's
Prof. Gordon's engaging lectures and strong grasp of the material make for a rewarding experience, though the course requires substantial effort. unstuck AI proved a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
she rocks ;)
If you like geography and English, this is the class for you. Dr. Gordon is very accessible, and one of my favourite profs from over the years. She loves her quizzes, which have no time limit, and allow you to collaborate. Be prepared to write proposals in her classes, which might be marked harshly, however they provide good feedback.
Love this prof! Very understanding and helpful during office hours
Wonderful prof! Posts slides and lecture recordings for easy access/ catching up, engaging, and fun. She gives plenty of good examples on how to do well on the assignments, and they are difficult, but if good time and effort is put in it's possible to do really well. Would definitely take a class with her again.
She is a fantastic teacher, helped us a lot with the exam, and took her time to answer our many questions. She is patient and really cares about our success in the course! Be prepared to read the textbook, as there are lots of readings, but all in all, she is a 10/10.
Of all my year one courses this class is my favourite simply for the professor. she is accessible outside of class, and makes you feel comfortable reaching out. Lectures aren't mandatory since shes posts them online but she gives extra credit pieces if you show up. If you do the work you will get a great mark but if you don't try then obviously not
Neta restored my faith in professors.
I'm a third year science student, and this is my elective. Such a sweet soul, and one of the kindest profs I've ever had. She makes it very fair and doable (if you put in the work), and doesn't just throw you to "write an essay" out of nowhere. The seminars, midterm, and assignments are all connected, and it actually sticks with you.10/10 prof
As an english major this class was all I would have wanted for an english class. Neta is so engaging and makes lectures fun to attend, she does make sure you attend with her in lecture reflections but I believe it keeps you attentive and on your toes. She was a wonderful professor and I would highly recommend! Shes so easily approachable.
Very particular about essay structure. Wants it to be done her way, or you can kick rocks and go lie down on the highway. Very passionate about what she teaches, however. There is an in-class "participation" question, so lectures are "mandatory". Do not take if you do not enjoy formal essay writing and you don't see much of it in your future.
She is approachable, lenient and kind! She offers lots of extra credit opportunities in her courses. Out of all of the English courses I've taken, her lectures are the most engaging by far. She has a true passion for English and it shows! She gives feedback that is applicable to future work outside of her courses. Not a hard grader, but fair!
Overall, the course was fine and Dr. Gordon is great. She's so passionate about the material and the lectures are heavy with participation however she never pressures anyone to participate. However, she is adamant that essays are written in a particular way which can be really frustrating.
She is very clear about her expectations and even if you just show youre *trying* you can easily pass this class. She's kinda wild and engaging so even if you're just a litttle into english you'll do just fine. the TA marked much harder than the professor so just be wary of who you get
Good professor ! She's super nice and helpful when answering questions. I think buying the text book would be a waste of money though, all the short story's in it are easy to find online. Midterm is really easy and the final project isnt too hard either. Lectures get a little boring/repetive tho
