Absolutely do not take her. She is the worst possible teacher you could ever imagine. She does not care whether or not students get the material all she cares about is making sure that she covers everything she is supposed to whether you know it or not. She thinks she is always right and her tests are impossible. Final exam is so hard its a jok
International Econ is a very difficult subject. I would strongly recomend not taking it if avoidable as it has been the hardest class I have taken at all 4 years at JMU to date. Nevin isn't a good teacher, but if you take alot of time, you might be able to do ok. She means well, but moves at a break-neck speed.
Where do I begin? Worst professor I have ever had. Goes way too fast in class, tests are nuts, and AKA Hitler. Your only hope is kissing her butt and even the buttkissers in my class still didn't do very good. She's not very easy on the eyes either!
WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. The first test she gave NO ONE in the class finished on time. The final class average was below a 70. Basically it is nearly imposible to get an A or B in this class unless you already know the material and/or kiss her ass hardcore. Her english is terrible, DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE AN OPTION!!!
Very hard Tests and they are very long. She does not curve much if at all. She does give some ec if you participate. Always available during her office hours and by appointment and is willing to help you learn the material. Tough class but definetly can be done.
basically you have to be a genius in econ if you want to do well in this class. everyone should take elwood if you have the option to. i wish i did.
HORRIBLE TEACHER very un-helpful boring tests are impossible she screws you over with grades and then is unwilling to discuss. do not take EVER.
AVOID her ! She is always confused and it is useless to even go to class ... I had to teach myself through the book ! It was the worse teacher I have ever had !
macro is pretty hard, she does get things confused at times, but she has a few extra credit things, if you go to all the study sessions you get 5% added to your grade, and she drops the lowest quiz. for our final if we do better than one of our two tests, the final replaces the grade. go to class, study like crazy and you will do fine
She's nice, but she always gets so confused in class that it's almost not worth going. She gives some extra credit, but she grades her tests so hard that it doesn't even matter. Almost all the other professors have A class averages on tests, our class almost always had a D or below. Avoid!
She is a hard teacher and if you go to see her during office hours beware. She can be a little rude at times.
Hard class, but she is nice and cares about students. I learned a lot.
way too hard to even try to understand. had her last year, and never wanted to take an economics class again. she makes so many errors on tests and trying to explain things in class
she is a very good teacher. If you don't understand, you can ask questions in class or go to her office hours. all of the tests are curved depending on the average of each test. Her practice exams are very similar to the exams she gives, so they help you out.
Honestly, she's not that bad at all. Its definitely a lot of work, but it can be done! I would recommend getting the macro economics study guide thing because she takes a good amount of questions from there and also make sure you do the practice tests because they help out a lot!!
she is incredibly hard to understand. the online part of the class is the easiest part as it kind of goes hand in hand with the book. however, they get much harder at the end of the year. test get very hard. if graphs aren't your thing, avoid this class and her. she can be mean at times.
Awful teacher. Extremely unprofessional. ALWAYS late for class, doesn't teach the material well, a lot of work, hard tests. She's an idiot. I hated her class. DO NOT TAKE IT.
By far the easiest econ professor at JMU comparatively. There is no reason for these bad reviews: she offers past exams for practice and puts the same exact questions on the tests! Also gives two study guides per test, assignments count for more than tests, offers review sessions, AND an A is 88% and up. TAKE HER!
Nevin is nice, she comes off as intense in the beginning but ended up being one of the better teachers I had. I hate Macro had to retake it and I thought her class was pretty easy and not as dumb as the usual economics course. You have to pay for a online hw site, but if you do the assignments you can probably get an A even if you skip regularly.
No reason for these bad reviews. She is one of, if not the best and most fair professors I've had at JMU. If you put in some time to student every day in this course no reason not to get an A. Go to office hours she'll clear things up and she curves too! Final hard three other exams not to bad. Smart women great class!!!
nevin is a good teacher. she curves the final average of the whole class so that the average is a C. Online homeowork is straightforward and helps boost your grade. gave us extra credit and is very helpful in office hours. i really liked her as a teacher and it was pretty simple class. TAKE HER!
Nevin as she prefers to be called is a good professor. I finished with a C+ in that class not studying only before tests. She has homework assigments online called Aplia that is 25% of your grade. This is a grade booster because her tests are pretty challegning. Ask for help, attend class and stay focused. If you committ to studying a B is possible
I really didn't like taking Nevin. I thought she was really boring and the lectures were not even worth going to. She teaches a lot of theory but I think she pulls all her questions for her test from a book because her tests are all application. Study the book really well and know how to apply the material. Don't rely on class lectures.
I would say a good teacher when it comes to lectures. Tries to be as fair as possible with tests and grades. Haven't finished the course yet but I would pick her if I was signing up for courses again. Reading the book is not necessary but is helpful.
Horrible class, the lectures were insanely boring, the aplia quizzes were incredibly difficult, and I have no idea where she got her questions from, because even reading the chapter cover to cover doesn't help. She doesn't motivate her students, and I'm pretty sure that we're just bodies filing space for her.
She curves a lot, but her tests are INSANE!!!! She tricks you on the tests with all of those 'none of the above' and 'all of the above' questions. She is very helpfull in class but not during her office hours - when I had a question about the exam question she told me to go home, think about it very hard, and if I still need some help to come back
This is not an easy class, no matter who you take. The key to doing well in her class is to take notes and understand the homework problems. She is a very reasonable professor and she knows her stuff. She wants her students to do well.
Love her. drops lowest test and a few lowest quizzes. its a hard class but she goes as slow as the class needs her to. gives extra credit and wants her students to do well. you need to read along in the book to do well but overall she's great. definitely a better 200 professor.
This is not an easy class. Requires dedication and focus. Work hard, attend all classes, and show that you're interested and trying. Nevin truly loves the subject and enjoys teaching it; helps students to understand. It's hard, but possible to do well.
Not a bad class. She covers the material well enough that you dont have to read the textbook. She drops one test and three quizzes so you can bomb a few. And she gives extra credit and curves grades. All old tests are on blackboard so its easy to study for the tests.
Extremely hard class. I took it to satisfy my GenEds. She is helpful during office hours. But if you have no interest in the class and/or this isn't a requirement for your major, I'd suggest taking a different course.
nevin does a good job educating her students about each new concept and prepares you really well for each test. she also drops the lowest test and 5 lowest quizzes which was a great help. however, i would not recommend taking this class unless it is a part of your major as it is very difficult and complex. shes a good teacher, just a tough class
The class was VERY hard. I went to Nevin's office hours a lot and it still didn't benefit me. I think I got a good grade in the class because she drops the lowest exam and the final was all multiple choice. But if you don't need this for your major, don't take it with her.
Macro is a difficult subject, I wouldn't take it unless you have to. I have no interest in the subject at all but she's really good at teaching the material - she works through concepts slowly to make sure you understand. Online quizzes every week that help boost your grade. I would take her!
If you're interested in macro and are a business major, take her. If you not interested or aren't a business major, there are much easier and clearer GECON teachers to take!
Simply just don't take her.
Rude when you try to go to office hours to go over your tests. Ridiculous amounts of online quizzes due on random days. Test averages are usually in 60s and she doesnt curve. DO NOT TAKE
DO NOT TAKE! Works way too fast and awful clarity. average grade on the first test was a 65. very impatient. one of the worst professors Ive had at JMU.
The class was very difficult. She gives 3 tests and a final and the 3 tests she gives are ridiculous. She also gives you online quizzes and random in class quizzes. The good thing is she curves at the end and the final is not too bad. I ended up doing 10-20% better than I thought I would with her curve.
Nevin is nice and all but she speaks broken English and he lectures are not very clear. The tests aren't killer but she doesn't prepare you very well. She doesn't give great examples or relate the material well to real life. She is just not that good.
Nevin makes this class unnecessarily difficult. The online quizzes are not reflective of the homework or what is reviewed in class. Tests are ridiculously difficult and hard to study for.
Nevin speaks broken english with a Russian accent. Hard material to learn on top of struggling to figure out what she is saying. Doesn't prepare you well for her tests and online work is not an accurate representation of what is learned. Worst class I've ever taken
she is very confusing. her grading system is curved though, which says a lot.
Nevin seems very sweet but she is not the best teacher. Everything she says in class is irrelevant. Tests are very hard and class is boring. Macroeconomics is a tough subject anyway but she makes it unnecessarily difficult. There are better professors out there. I definitely do NOT recommend.
Do not take this professor. There are pretests and quizzes due online about 5 times a week. Reading the book and going to class will not help prepare you for the exams. The tests are extremely hard and studying for them doesn't even help. Only a few questions from the in class handouts are on the tests.
The class is hard regardless of the professor. You cannot rely just on Pr. Cavusoglu's lectures, gotta read the book. She often talks about extra stuff. There are two online tests per chapter, which can be really confusing. The examples given in class are similar to tests' problems. Overall, she's not the best teacher, but not bad either.
Hard class, good teacher. Very good at explaining difficult concepts.
This is just a really hard class in itself and forming a study group would be advised to help you learn the material. She's not the greatest teacher but she certainly isn't the worst. She has two tests for each chapter but it can be a huge inconvenience when they are due. She is willing to help you if you need it.
I don't usually give bad reviews, but Nevin made this class unnecessarily hard. She doesn't explain the concepts well, although she does try! The TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE, by the half of the semester half of the class has withdrawn the class. YOU MUST STUDY REGULARLY. The test grade averages range from 50-60% with very little curves... DO NOT RECOMMEND
Her quizzes were very annoying. She did not explain very well but her office hours were helpful.
Plain and simple, she does not know a thing about economics. If you somehow end up in her class, use only the textbook, as she will only confuse you further. Shocking how many "correct answers" are flat-out wrong on online assignments. Really surprising that such a great university has professors like her employed. Avoid at all costs.
Worst class ever. Do not take. Teacher isn't clear, and tests are insanely hard.
Very difficult class. She has a thick accent and sloppy handwriting so it is very hard to know what she's saying. Tests are really hard, no doubt. But if you spend a lot of time studying, you won't fail. I spend about 5 days intensely studying prior to each test and got around 80 percent on both. Study and you'll be okay.
was afraid of her class after coming on here, but then I took it and honestly it is NOT BAD. a lot of her students are freshman (like me) who are used to having their hands held in high school. You definitely have to study A LOT, and work hard, but if you do it pays off. The class average in my class is a C, but I have an A-, so that's proof.
2 Exams and the Final are worth 70% of your grade. Both exams difficult, and she never curves them. If you don't do well on one of those tests, you can expect a C or lower. Not the best at explaining anything either. Would not recommend to anyone.
Very very informative. She knows her stuff! She is very good at answering your questions. There are 3 tests but there are a lot of homework and easy classwork that will boost your grade a little bit if you aren't great at testing. I highly recommend her!!
She expects more out of her students than any other teacher for this course. 70% of your grade is made up of two tests and the final all of which are extremely hard. She doesn't curve whatsoever and on the second test the class average was a 66. She is an extremely tough grader and is the type of teacher to look to take off points. Good luck.
Her first exam is like easy but it gets freaking hard.
The subject of Macro is pretty subjective and her lectures do NOT make it any clearer. The online book she makes you do practically all the assignments are are horrible, very unclear and just a slough to get through. Many questions have multiple answers and shes very snippy with people question her grading process. Would not recommend.
Professor gives you many opportunities to meet with her for help, however she is very condescending in her tone and makes you feel as if you're student. Expect a lot of independent learning. Exam content is not hard, however the time given to complete the exam is never enough. Shes just not a good professor by any means.
Nevin is a very sweet lady, but her tests are tough and the concepts can be difficult to fully grasp. The work is easy to keep up with, but if you don't study and put in effort, you won't do well. She is always willing to answer questions and help you out when needed.
Really difficult class. I wouldn't take Nevin over other profs, but if you take her it's not the end of the world. Tests are very difficult but she's helpful at office hours and a really nice person. Macro is hard, and she is prob the hardest professor.
I loved her class. The class itself is difficult but she is always willing to help you understand the material. She is super sweet and the homework is pretty easy. Her test can be difficult if you don't study and take the class serious. If you study, ask her questions, show up her office hours and review sessions, and do her homework you will pass.
She relies heavily on Connect. Tests questions are very vague and hard. Attendance is necessary and mandatory.
If you go to class, pay attention, and do your Connect assignments and study them for your test there's no reason you should get lower than a B in this class
Lots of not-so-hard out of class assignments, but they count for 5% of the grade. SO MUCH WORK, SUCH HARD TESTS, HORRIBLE AND CONFUSING LECTURES, RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL. Worst class I've ever had. AVOIDDDDDDD, Especially if you're a business major and need the GPA!
I loved having Nevin as a professor. Her lectures are super easy to follow if you print out the outlines ahead of time. She is always looking to answer questions and help her students. A good chunk of her exam questions were straight from connect. Just put in the extra work and it will be a really enjoyable class. She also curves at the end.
At first she seemed like a good teacher then everything started piling on. When you think you understand the material, she hands out exams with examples that are so much more difficult than what we did in class. You will have to go above and beyond to do well in this class. Would avoid at all costs
Sweet lady! Be ready for a challenge. She makes topics seem easy, but will make a more complex open ended on the test. Her tests are multiple choice and open ended (split 50/50) She also curves are the end.
In class I feel like I know what I'm doing, and I love the way our homework assignments are set up. If those were the only part of the class I would be doing really well. Her tests, however, are obscenely hard. I leave every one thinking I did okay, but once we get our scores back I feel like I'm going to have to drop out.
She's very nice and willing to give help the only problem is that if you are just confused on the concept, she won't help unless you have specific questions. It's easy to fall behind in this class like I did because the tests hit you like a punch in the face. The outlines and and examples in class and hw all are easy until the test. They're SO hard
Nevin is nice if you're nice to her first. Study for the tests through the connect homework and DEFINITELY pay attention and ask hella questions in class. Make sure you understand things before you leave class.
Nevin was such a terrible teacher where should I even begin. For starters AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS!!!! Not only is she completely unhelpful but there are only 3 tests that are ridiculously hard, one presentation, and homework online. Macro is hard enough by itself but taking it with her was the worst decision ever.
Do not take her. I don't recommend to anyone there are barely any grades class average is always like a 65% and can be hard to understand.
tests are extremely hard and that is pretty much your entire grade.
One of the hardest classes I've taken at JMU. If you don't understand concepts by the second week good luck passing the exams. Exams are so hard. It's a good thing the homework and assignments from connect are a good portion of your grade. She's a nice professor and willing to help, but don't take as a gened unless you really do like economics.
Professor is relatively nice and while she does legitimately make an effort to teach she lacks in accurately relaying information to the students. Econ 200 will be difficult. Period. This will be your most important class so stay on top of it from the beginning. More than likely you will feel that you are missing key pieces of info. COMPLETE ALL HW
not hard if you focus and do work outside of class, tough final
I could've done a lot better in this course if I actually showed up to class. However... attendance is not mandatory so going to class is a little difficult.
Dr. C is a very nice and intelligent professor but the class is very unorganized and not taught well Tests are difficult only because everything is worded weirdly and there are no assignments outside of my econlab and 4 exams. Dr. C is really nice and cares about students but I would take another professor if you can!
Dr. C is nice and really passionate about Economics but not super easy. I knew nothing about economics or what she was talking about before taking this class and I still got a B-. Her tests are super hard but she curves them and there are homeworks and learn smart assignments that count for like 100 points each and really boost your grade
The test never go along with the notes and count so much towards your grade. She is not very nice and her office hours dont help at all. She doesnt seem to care for students and gets annoyed when people dont understand the material. Class moves very quickly so skipping class can prevent you from passing. She also gives hard test.
I really don't recommend taking Nevin. She's nice and all but she is the most confusing professor and doesn't make the effort to help students, she gets annoyed during her office hours. Tests are extremely difficult. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Nevin is a very smart professor but you definitely have to WORK in this class to get a solid grade. Her homework and Learnsmart assignments are annoying but come in very helpful for the test. Get ready to STUDY and if you miss a class you will be extremely confused. She's a very nice lady but teaches as if you already understand everything
Econ is a hard class as it is, but her class was overly difficult. I personally think she did okay at teaching the materials but the tests are quite hard. ALWAYS do the LS and HW assignments! The tests are 75% of your grade and they are HARD. Overall, I recommend another professor.
Decent person, go to her office hours and class regularly. Test heavy 75% of your grade is based on three tests (all multiple choice) and an optional final that would replace your lowest test score. The homework is a small portion of your grade, it's a difficult class. I would only take this course if you had to for your major like I did.
She is a good person but tries to make people participate and makes lots of awkward silences. The class is pretty hard on tests but the homework isn't bad. Don't take her if you don't have to
She was a decent professor, but be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the material. Her lectures often did not align with the material that would be on the exams. She was also very condescending and made serval uncalled for rude remakes to students. If you are taking this for your major, I would not recommend.
She has packets for her lectures so they are easy to follow. She does talk really fast though so at times I couldn't keep up. She uses lots of examples in the lectures as well and writes everything with you instead of having a powerpoint. There are 3 multiple choice question tests - HARD. and the final is optional but it is cumulative. Overall good
Tests are VERY hard and the notes you take in class aren't too helpful. Make sure you go through all the test banks on connect, I promise you won't regret it. Take her with caution.
Even though attendance is not graded, going to class is a must. The class is lecture based, but the material is shown from her writing in class. No powerpoints. Your grade is primarily test based, and the homework does not help for boosting it up. Do all of them though, or it will hurt you on the tests. Not a bad prof, but take at your own risk.
Professor Nevin deserves more credit then she gets. It is almost impossible to get a good grade in this class (my class's average is 68) you learn a lot and she makes most classes interesting. If you do the homework and get great grades on them it can help your grade more then most think. She is very nice and is funny, but be ready to work.
Attendance isn't mandatory but nothing makes sense if you skip. 3 MC tests, no midterm, optional final. weekly homework. Econ is hard in general and she means well but she's a really hard grader, class averages were never above a 65. I busted my butt for her class and only ended with a C. Nevin does curve final grade to get class average at a C.
Lecture and tests are not related. She does give a curve to your final grade at the end as well as an extra 2 points to your final grade as long as you come to class and do not use your phone during class. The final is optional.
Graded by HW and tests. She is very nice, her handwriting is messy so it is hard to see what she is writing. She gives you skeleton notes but you have to work very hard to get a decent grade. The final is optional. Her tests are VERY hard but if you study a lot you should be okay.
She doesn't teach anything in class. If you want to learn you better read and take good notes on your own. Sometimes she makes videos for you based on the reading, but if your like me and you find accents annoying, you wont want to listen to the videos.
Econ is already hard, but Nevin makes it impossible. Her class is so annoying, and she makes Kahoots graded. She goes through example problems, which you have to follow along to or else you won't get a good grade. Honestly, her videos are pointless and the only reason I haven't failed out is because I read the textbook. Only take if necessary.
STAY AWAY FROM HER! She expects way too much out of her students for it being a gen ed class. She grades harshly and gives little to no partial credit on questions. Save yourself the headache, and find a different professor at all costs.
Horrible teacher. Inconsistent and derogatory towards students.
She made videos to watch before class which were a big help, then we got plenty of examples in class. We had short graded kahoots twice a week that a simply a grade booster. There's not a whole lot of homework and she's really caring and sometimes moves stuff around if class needs to go over something more.
She gave notes that are moderately easy to understand and goes over practice questions over the week. The way she speaks sounds like you're being talked down to and it can get on your nerves easily. One of her favorite sentences is "I don't know how you got this wrong."
Never ever take her class. She loves to talk down to her students and make us look dumb and thinks kahoot is a good way to do participation grades when we are online and everything is laggy.
Material heavy but easy to manage. Has small activities done during class that accumulates points that could tank your grade if misses. Very nice though and takes time to make sure you understand everything.
Absolutely awful. Avoid at all costs
I created a rate my professor just to rate her. Awful, gives kahoots every class, end up being 15% of your grade. Doesn't actual teach, tests are 60% of your grade. Avoid at literally all costs.
Professor Cavusoglu is very organized and has clear expectations. Her class is totally manageable. Watch the videos she makes and you will be golden. Exams are very similar to the questions covered in class. Kahoots and class example problems provide a great way to make sure you keep up with the material and are understanding the content.
Appears nice on most occasions, however she likes to belittle her students for getting questions wrong when she should be spending extra time to go over them. Gives a good amount of homework that doesn't even help your grade if you do good. Only thing that truly affect grades are exams(which are hard) and kahoot points. Avoid her for this course.
These reviews are from students who didnt want to put in the work. She goes over the material many times and explains things well so if you pay attention and work hard you can get an A.
This professor was the hardest professor I have ever taken (I am usually at a 3.5 average and always have been), yet I barely passed this class, and was failed anyways. The only grades that count are exams, which are incredibly hard, she is rude towards students in class and unavailable, at one point she refused help when I asked her. DO NOT TAKE!!
jmu's econ profs suck in general so Nevin was pretty average. not awful but I would try to take a better prof if u can. her accent isn't bad so idk why ppl are saying it is. the worst part is her handwriting lol. I busted my butt & only ended with a C. 3 tests, optional final, and she curves at the end so class avg is a C.
She's meh at MOST. I don't think her lectures are structured the best. Filling out multiple choice questions on a sheet of paper for the class to see is not an ideal lecture... Exams are worth 75%, HW is worth 15%, and Textbook reading questions are worth 10% of your grade. The exams are 34 MC questions, so you can't miss many. Good luck with her.
She was nice however the homework load was a lot, you are constantly doing smart book assignments, homework assignments, watching video lectures and reading the textbook. Her tests are really difficult and there are only 3 of them which causes your grade to fluctuate a lot (75% of grade). I would recommend a different econ teacher, thats easier
Honestly Prof Cavusoglu is a solid choice. No matter what econ 200 will be very hard. You will have to study a lot and if you don't watch her lecture videos, you're screwed. Her lectures are boring, but the example questions appear on the test so going to class is very important. I wouldn't not recommend her, but she's not a great teacher.
I would recommend Dr. Nevin to anyone looking for an econ class. i was nervous going in because her reviews before weren't that great but she was great. she uses mcgraw hill connect which helps a ton for studying and her exams are straight forward. she's really nice and caring and id definitely take her again.
Dr. C is nice but goes very fast and is not good at summarizing content, when taking notes try to write in ur own words. There are 3 tests and a final exam which were all very hard but if u study & watch her videos u can pass. Many of the MC questions in class will show up on exams especially if Dr. C emphasized them so write it down or take a pic.
As a first year freshman, professor Cavusoglu has been great! She answers questions in class. You just have to pay attention and study.
I loved this class. Make sure to attend the lectures and do the homework. Not too much work, but must be done.
Class time is spent taking notes, and you need to attend to get the notes, so make a friend. 3 tests and a final which are pretty hard, and worth 85% of your total grade. It is hard class, but just make sure you study hard and go to class and you'll pass. She is nice and will answer any question whenever. There is no curve, so do well on the tests.
Professor Cavusoglu is a good professor who answers questions asked, just condescending at times. There are 3 tests and a final which make up most of your grade, but if if you do the readings, the homework, and study, you will pass. I skipped class frequently and still have a B, but It is smart to attend class.
Tbh Macro is not the easiest class for most people, so whichever prof you have the class is going to be hard. I think Prof C is a great choice though, she has two hw assignments per chapter that really help, attendance not mandatory (highly recommend tho), and she will always answer your questions. I loved Prof C and definitely recommend!
Dr. Nevin is a great teacher and is always super open to talk about any economic topic. I really enjoyed her teaching style but you absolutely have to ask questions and do the pre-class homework assignments to know what is going on.
I think prof Cavusoglu is a good professor but it is just a hard class in general. Unlike some other econ teachers, she gives hw assignments in order to boost your grade so it is not just based on tests. Additionally, she is very good at answering questions and gives a lot of study tools. She does have an accent, but it is pretty easy to understand
Prof. C is probably one of the best macro professors you can find, but it is a very tough class. The tests are very hard but the best way to prep for them is to watch her online lectures. She gives multiple assignments a week but it helps boost your grade.
i was so nervous taking this class seeing such a low rating but honestly i loved the way she taught and i think macro is just a hard class in general. tests count towards the majority of your grade and she does a 1 or 2 question quiz almost every class but i found that her ta's review sessions really helped me.
Econ classes seem to generally be a heavy lift, and this class is no exception. She gives notes in kind of a "high school, fill in the blank" style, but I feel she taught the concepts in a way that made a lot of sense. Grade in the class is mostly determined by exams, around 85%, but I believe she does a class-wide curve at the end of the semester.
Clear explanations of the topics, very willing to help, super knowledgeable. You can tell that she really wants you to succeed and sometimes adjusts the deadlines to support the pace of the class. Answers questions very clearly, only complaint is that she doesn't have the best handwriting.
Nevin knows what she is doing for this class. She wants to teach and it shows. However you got to go to class or you will fail. This is not an easy class but learn the material and go over it and you should be fine
This class is really tough. She does not take it easy on anybody with tests either. The average of the class was so low this semester. I would try not to take her if you can.
NEVER TAKE HER FOR COMPARATIVE ECON. There's hours of readings every night, and she gives no criteria for grading. The discussions and class itself isn't bad, but the tests are worth a lot, and the group project is a nightmare. She doesn't tell you what she wants and cuts grades on a whim. No one ever knows what's going on. Textbook is free though.
Prof C is a solid choice for Macro - clear lectures, good at answering questions, and gives homework assignments to boost your grade. Definitely utilize the TA review sessions and tools like Unstuck ai to prepare for the tough exams.
Very unclear with what she expects of you for papers, presentations, projects, etc. Tries to pull off a flipped classroom sort of thing but isn't very good at facilitating discussion. Likely to accuse you of using AI.
There are 1-2 question quizzes at the beginning of most classes 50% for trying. Listen in class, watch the lecture video, read the textbook, and study; maybe you'll do well. Homeworks are short and graded for accuracy, while the chapter problems are longer, but you'll always get 100%. She opens those assignments a couple of days before they're due
Nevin is a great professor. Her tests are extremely straight forward. As long as you prepare accordingly for them by reading the textbook and doing the practice problems online, you should do totally fine. Half the questions on the test are straight from the lectures or homeworks. She's really nice too and will help a lot in office hours.
When taking Professor C, she made the material easier to understand. I would recommend printing out the chapter outlines and reviewing her video lectures. Come to class because there are random quizzes. Study test banks and the chapter outline because some of the questions that are on there, are on the test!!
She knows what she's doing, but is horrible at conveying the information. It is a total flipped classroom, you have to study yourself or you won't know anything on the tests. Smart, bad teacher.
