She is the rudest instructor I have ever had at ACC!I have already taken BIO201 202 204 and 206 and I have never had anyone like her.I asked her a question in lab and she answered me with a condensing attitude.She is disrespectful to students.Her tests are extremely hard. Avoided her at all cost!Take Patrica Baechler!You will get an A in her class!

She must not have understood Eng comp. because her expectations on siting are not what is expected in a college level Eng class. She expects everyone to turn everything in on time but refuses to submit grades on time. Find a diff. class to take. She is rude and condescending. I get that it is hard info. BUT there is no reason for her to be so rude.

I would never take a class with her again. She is rude, and will not respond to e-mails for help. And I can prove she used a different book other than the assigned book for the entire class!I was reading through old tests to see where I went wrong and found that the chapter she is talking about isn't apart of the selected chapters being tested on.

If you want to pass a biology class, DO NOT TAKE Dr. Bauer. She is rude and expects everyone to know everything she talks about, and when someone doesn't, she makes them feel dumb. Very harsh teacher. Doesn't take time to talk to you about how you're doing in class and is a very hard grader. Undergraduate class at a graduate level

Terrible teacher. Doesn't help in lab. Sits at the front of the room and we figure it out for ourselves. Rude teacher and very arrogant. I will get a good grade, but only because I went to study lab and learned from other teachers who allow questions.

Took a class with Dr. Bauer in spring and I am retaking it this summer to get an A. I now have a different teacher and it just shows how terrible Dr. Bauer was. She just sat at the computer in lab and seems to teach for her own glorification. My new prof is helpful, kind, but still tough. It makes a difference when the instructor cares!

Beware of this teacher. So rude and unhelpful! I should have listened to previous reviewers. She isn't overly hard, just not a nice or helpful teacher. I stuck it out an did OK, but I couldn't believe that they let her teach with her personality.

More than half the class dropped by middle of the semester. I have never cried so much over a teacher. So unhelpful and doesn't care if you understand, leave or do well in class.

I am sure that Dr. Bauer knows biology but she doesn't know how to act around us students. She is never there-even in lab she takes off. She doesn't ansewer emails and gives back exam and treats you like you're stupid if you ask a question about them. You have to read teh book and teach yourself. Take this with someone else!

Be sure to buy the book and read because questions aren't allowed without being laughed at and degraded in front of the whole class.

I did Ok in this class but not because of Nia Bauer. She is one of the rudest and arrogant people I've ever met. She also is never around during office hours if you are brave enough to try and visit.

How can someone that is a teacher treat other human beings so poorly? She is rude, snide, and talks down to students who try to get help or ask questions. Tests are ok if you read and study by yourself. Take it with someone else!

Took this online in two weeks and I don't think that Dr. Bauer really did anything. Never responded to questions or emails and the computer graded everything. I should have taken this with someone in class. Easy class though.

I lasted one week in micro with her and then I switched to another teacher. She was very condescending and rules with an iron fist. She was so partcular about everything that you worried about all of her weird rules rather than microbiology material. My new teacher is wonderful and much more competent.

I have never had such a horrible teacher in my life. She goes through her lectures way too fast and when you ask her a question, she looks at you like you are stupid. She expects you to remember all of the information that she crammed into 1 powerpoint. Be prepared to teach yourself Biology because she will NOT help.

I have no idea how she is working as a teacher because she hates her students. She should be working in some research lab far away from people. She is rude and mean and doesn't care at all how students feel or do. It is already a hard class but with a teacher like this - good luck! Find another teacher or another school if you have to!

Worst teacher and human being you will ever know. She makes the school look bad and makes her students hate science! Other teachers are just as tough and have high standards but they aren't completely riduclous and mean. Be ready to teach yourself and avoid interacting with her. Lab is taught at a graduate level.

After reading these comments I can see that we are all in agreement that Dr. Bauer is a terrible teacher. I'm pretty sure that she wrote the one about being faculty of the year herself! She's a bad teacher on an ego trip with no care for if her students are learning or need help. I managed to do well in the class on my own. Tons of busy work.

Lectures are ok if you just sit back and don't interrupt and then teach yourself at home. Labs are completely ridiculous and is just one week after another of busy work combined with stuff that nobody understands. This teacher is on a power trip and dragged us through it. Avoid at all costs! She runs the 111 classes so go to another school!

"She won't coddle you" that person was also hugged about as much as Dr. Bauer when they were a child. She runs her class with intimidation and an ego the size of Jupiter. When a student has high grades in homework and big assignments and still fails every test, there's a problem with the teaching, not the student. She's made me hate the subject.

I've had 7 great professors at ACC and this was my last class for nursing school. Dr Bauer is the worst teacher I've ever had. Nobody signs up for her classes and now I know know why-wish I'd checked this website sooner. I got by teaching myself and getting help from other students and professors. I don't know why ACC keeps her on staff.

Lecture was ok because Dr. Bauer seems to know the material but lab was a ton of work and nobody ever knew what was going on. Take this teacher if you want lots of papers and frustration and a teacher who DOES. NOT. CARE. Ruined my GPA and never returned one of my emails. I went by her office to get help and she told me to read the book. Seriously.

Do yourself a favor and take this class with a better teacher and a better person. Very inaccessible and does not have a personality conducive to interacting with other people.

I am good at self teaching and had a limited schedule and tried Dr. Bauer. BAD IDEA! I passed because I read the book, but lab and her teaching were awful. Constant high level busy work with no sense of why we were all there. She also reduced all of us to tears on many occasions and told us to drop rather than try and do better. Not supportive!

Only seemed to like the top students in class and demeaned everyone else until they dropped. Teaches at a ridiculous high level with no patience and never available or cares to help. Be ready to teach yourself and get therapy during this class or find another teacher. ACC has lots of great ones!

She was one of my toughest teachers during my preparation for nursing school. She has no personality to actually engage her students to learn the material. Big EGO always address her as Doctor Bauer. She is not recommended!

Everyone avoids this teacher at ACC and I can totally see why. She is the absolute worst when it comes to personality and interactions. She is also not approachable and never around for help. Trust me, this class is hard enough. Find a teacher that isn't a nightmare.

Dr Bauer has decent lectures but isn't good with interactions with people. She is very rude and has unrealistic expectations. She sits at the front of the room in lab and doesn't help so lab is a disaster and she doesn't welcome questions AT ALL. You teach yourself so you'd be better off taking this online or with someone fit for teaching.

Slams you with busy work the second you arrive for class and it doesn't let up. Every day is 3 or 4 assignments for no reason. If you are already really familiar with bio or have no work, life, kids then maybe try because she doesn't care if you fail at all. Most of her classes have less than 10 students because everyone knows to find someone else

Would not recommend this teacher, very hard, can't miss one class otherwise behind. She's huge on APA citations if you mess up one thing you will automatically receive a zero for the entire assignment. She's not good at real world examples, and doesn't go the extra mile to help others understand. Take Dr. Rutledge instead great Bio teacher at ACC.

By far the worst instructor I have had in my college life. No communication. Can't ask questions. You feel lost most the time. No feedback. Can't approach her with out using Dr. first. Read the book, do mastering bio assignment, lab reports, pre Labs and group projects as home work every class.... Not for her again. Doesn't even deserve a 1 rating.

Hardest class I've ever taken. About 1/3 of the original class size was left at the end of the year, and even at that I know a few people who failed. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TESTS AND QUIZZES. Tons of homework. Makes you feel dumb for asking questions. Brags about how hard her class is (unnecessarily hard, had a sub that was baffled at the content).

Dr Bauer is very picky. She's EXTREMELY strict on APA citations. If you make a small mistake (like missing a period) she will take several points off for it. Study Guides for tests are not helpful what so ever. Cant ask her a straight question. She will question you about it or sometimes make you think twice about your answer. DO NOT TAKE HER!

Dr. Bauer is one of the hardest teacher I have ever had. She is unavailable for help outside of class time, if you email her she will not respond. If you are having a hard time with a subject and ask her for help, she will belittle you and make you feel an inch tall. SAVE YOURSELF, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!! Rutledge is way better and sweet

I knew 5 minutes into the first day of class that I was going to drop. She was way too demanding and gave so much homework. She didn't realize that people were taking classes other than hers and that some people had jobs too. Save yourself and take this class with another professor.

Dr. Bauer is tough. It almost seems ridiculous how much you have to do for so little credit. If you dont do your citations you will not get credit! Also, she belittles you when you ask her questions. She made me feel like I was dumb for asking for help. I would not recommend taking this course with Dr. Bauer.

Dr. Bauer is clearly passionate about biology, thats great. But she is not a personable professor. She expects you to know exactly what you read without explanation - and yes she provides online resources, but never actually TEACHES them. If you ask a question you feel stupid. The absolute worst. She does not accommodate for anything - including being sick w/ COVID. She does not allow room for human error. She does not really care about her students and instead prides herself on people failing her class. Unapproachable, cannot miss citing ONE source w/o a zero (mostly HER OWN textbook). She was the worst teacher I have ever had. My father died and I was unable to complete a test and she publicly in front of the class asked me why I didnt complete the test and she never pulled me aside so my whole class knew my father died. She did not reach out to me and see how I was doing after that and did not let me retake the test.

Save your money and your time..a lot of people dropped off her class. A lot of homework and very hard testing. She is not a flexible person, even if youre very sick you have to attend the lab or you receive ZERO! All of us were very tired and we were vey sorry because we took the class with her. It was a nightmare!

I took this class in person with one other class this semester. For an entry level class, it will swallow your time and peace of mind! She answers your questions with another question and is very condescending. I got an A only through reading the textbook every week- her test averages are usually around 50% for every test. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS

The exams are brutal. She doesn't seem to mind weeding out the students. Half of the class dropped off! I would think in a Bio 1 class you would want to instill a love or at least an interest in Biology, but with Dr. Bauer its not!! And there is just tooooo much for one semester!

if you plan on taking her class don't take any other classes. This will take up all your time. She is very heavy on homework and tests. A common problem that me and several of my classmates had was a lot of guesswork. As far as assignments and tests especially. Attending her reviews are only helpful to a point.

The tests were very hard, including a lot of information that is not in her lectures. Kind of condescending toward students.

This profferer really dosent care if you pass this class or not. She very rarely answers questions about homework and assignments. your whole grade is based on exams that are worth 100 points and everything other assignments like homework and projects are always gonna be less the 15 points.

She did not accommodate to someone in class who was colorblind during that labs. Her classes are tough, unrealistic and she does not provide support to the class. She expects you to do way too much work and gets rude when I asked her for help. Everyone in the class is struggling and felt as their need for help isn't being considered.

Hell bent on busy work and making this class impossible to pass. At the end of the semester 5 people were left and noone got over a C. If you have nothing else in your life and like misery, she's the professor for you. She also has a huge ego and talks to you like you're an idiot if you ask anything.

Took her back in Fall of 2018. She didn't seem to care too much about the students who were falling behind. Tests were really rough no matter how much you studied.

Insane amount of work, doesn't return grades until prompted, will belittle you regularly in class, seems like she wants us to fail or to have dropped... weeding out the students isn't your job as a teacher Nia. I have a B.S. already & this is the most pointlessly difficult class I have ever taken. Do better Dr. Bauer, you're failing your students.

Horrible, egotistical, condescending teacher. She PRIDES herself on how hard her class is and how few pass. Constantly encouraged people to drop the course, and didn't care about students succeeding. I went to her lab with a minor cough b/c her attendance policy was so strict and was told to leave and received a ZERO on the lab. I couldn't make up!

I have never seen a professor so arrogant and narcicistic. Some weeks we had 15 things due and she blows off students if they ask questions or are confused. Cares about outside things like research and STEM talks more than her own students and classes. I got an A because I saw a different teacher for help and quit my job.

Expects 25hr/wk devoted to her class. 90% meaningless busy work w/zero educational value. EVERY question on EACH lab report must be fully cited, including common knowledge (ex human body temp). I assumed she was retied needing extra cash and had never taught before, but she's been there for years. I'm flabbergasted that ACC continues to employ her.

Worst teacher ever don't take her class unless you want to hate your life and yourself. pain and misery is all I felt in this class. She is rude, narsistic, egoistical terrible person she would regularly make fun of you if you asked a question.

I cant even explain how terrible this class was. especially because it was intro to bio. not some crazy class and some how she made everything so much more complicated than it is. i cannot recommend this teacher, she consistently picked on other people in the class to.

Worst teacher ever, She doesn't explain things well, also makes fun of you if you don't understand something, she takes too long to give grades, and the effort put into assignments isn't rewarded in the grade.

WORST CLASS EVER! Dr. Bauer loves to put down people, explains like she's teaching to herself, 0 patience/empathy. Tests and quizzes were hard and we didn't had enough time to study. She says she's there to help but she doesn't make the environment feel comfortable. She takes a long time grading and heavy work doesn't helps to improve your grade.
