Nice guy but might as well just read the book, won't learn anything from him
amazing how he can put up with all the whining babies - good job sir!
Willing to stay way late to help if you ask. I get it now! Thanks!
Nice guy. Teaching is ok. Turning sour though...................
I couldn't learn from him. The examples only didn't cut it for me.
Is willing to help you after class if you ask him
he has no clue how to teach. Probably if he starts explaing teh logic of a program on teh board rather than running through all teh examples in the class, we might get something in ur head..bad teacher
Previous person: If you still needed him to teach you logic at this point, you must've been asleep during your previous courses. My advice is if you found it hard, then get out of programming. Good work sir!
Very hard! Expects you to know the course before you take his class! be prepared to hear things like, "its easy", "you should already know this", "look at the examples", if you have to take his class attend some one elses lec
A cardboard cutout could do a better job teaching the class. Knew nothing of Win2000 and IIS. Get a change of jeans, your grubby mechanic look isn't appealing.
spends entire class debugging his own programs
yea, this teacher needs new jeans.. i'm sure everyone has different colour of jeans even if it was the same brand. He yaps a lot of very confusing stuff. Very hard marker.
Horrible, useless, I had to struggle to stay awake in his classes. took forever for assignments to get marked, absolutely useless.
really knows his stuff and will always try to explain it a different way if you didn't get it the first time a bit slow to mark but is a fair marker hates cheaters
you've gotta be kidding! this guy knows nothing. can't stand his class. get rid of him PLEEEAAASEEE and get a real teacher in his place.
Dude ... if you're not getting a bird course like this, you must be dumb! Get out of programming if you can't cut it! Cork rocks.
Spent a great deal of time teaching flow charts and pseudo-code examples. Only marked two labs. When it was time to do the final assignment I could easily flow-chart and pseudo-code the problem but could not code it into C.
Please make it stop, it burns, oh God it burns! This guy is as smart as your average canned carrot, please send in someone better! He repeats everything a million times over, about things I did in grade 10 programming!
Be sure to bring some prep pills to stay awake in his class. this class is my homework peroid, seriously. And its not him teaching, its the power point presentations. He's gone for half the lab times and expects you to know how to do the things in the lab with no instructions. get ready for "read the examples" (IT BURNS!! MAKE IT STOP!!)
possibly the worst professor I have had. Is probably the best powerpoint reader out there ! can go thru 60slides in one class without explaining anything !
well if i could understand anything he reads off the powerpoints it would be easy, explain it using non-programming (C) theory.
- seems willing to help you out - answers all questions you have - will book one-on-one time if you want - puts up with dumb questions
Dude needs to speed up his talking. Knows what he's talking about, but just totally uninterested in listening to him talk.
why go to class when i can stay at home and read the power points. scan f this sucker
One word... Sucks!
lazy teacher but willing to help if you asked
Awful PHP teacher, didn't even tell us what it being a server-side script MEANT. Cancelled out last lab five minutes before it started, so no help with final set of labs! Examples in lectures are next to useless. I wish to God Scollard had taught this instead. Learned more from her in one class she subbed for him. GET THE TEXT.
bring a pillow...
Horrible.
From 1 to 10 i will put -#
best teacher....
Had him a few years ago for prog, failed. Had him for nigh school programming (last semester) and passed, This guy is real nice, i only failed cause of myself. Nick is honestly funny, kool, and easy to learn from, does read power points quite a bit but does MORE than enough examples so you can understand him. CHEERS NICK!
excellent power point reader.. horrible teacher..-
he shouldn't be teaching if he doesn't care. And it's clear that he doesn't care
awsome
The textbook taught me more than he did. Amazing how someone can talk for the entire two hour lecture but teach nothing.
Nick is a professional powerpoint reader. However, all relevant content was explained and having weekly labs that were worth marks kept students in class and DOING hands on projects. I liked that.
He was mostly useless. he said "umm" a lot and said "i think" very often. i could have taught this class with my eyes closed. he also pronounced almost every work related to networking incorrect. you do not want him as a teacher, i loved networking until i had him for a teacher, his class is a joke.
Nick was awesome. Ya, he reads powerpoints, and that's boring. He is also very friendly, and he answers student questions very well. He's extremely thorough covering the material. If you need a lot of stimulation to learn, maybe you should try to avoid him. Otherwise, Nick is a great person to learn from.
Boring class
Explains in detail from the slides, good professor.
Way too difficult. If you don't attend class regularly, he takes it personal and marks your assignments with no mercy.
Quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had after 3 years of University and High school. The guy is frequently late, only reads slides and doesn't hand things back. We have no feedback. I have learned more from the internet than him because he does not care and explains nothing. In fact I feel like he himself has taught me nothing.
He teaches out of order with the assignments, he takes a long time to mark them. Cuts off students and shut their question down when they have questions about the things he said not to do just because he hears the first word that comes out, the thing he told us not to do. But they just wanted clarification so they don't do the wrong thing.
The worst professor in my program. This guy failed almost the entire class for the midterms. This guy is the worst grader ever in the Software Development Program. He reads from the book and cannot give a lecture. Boring class. I had to repeat my course HTML & CSS and got a 90 with another professor.
Future students, be prepared to regret you paid for this class. Also brace yourself through boring monotone lectures. Oh and may I also tell you this guy marks really late gives no feedback, or help. For god's sake most of the class is failing. Survival tip if you end up with him: Study beforehand don't bother with the attending lectures and pray.
the worst teacher i ever met
worst prof i have ever met. too strict for test and grading assignments.
Nicholas J. Corkigian not only get's a lot of his own material wrong, but also doesn't mark any labs, doesn't mark any of the tests, and rushes the course as much as possible. It's been 2 weeks since our last midterm and now we have another one? Do not take this professor. There are better HTML teachers in this school.
Bad teacher, does not cover the material required for the assignments, does not even discuss the assignments. Does not respond to emails at all, not available to contact. Not available to answer student questions. Overly hard marker, will take off marks for any and every small diversion from what he wants in the project.
His recorded videos are so helpful
There are SO MANY worse profs but you don't know that when you have Corkigan in 3rd semester. He's a bad lecturer and you have to grill him for actionable feedback. But if you can get him in conversation and ask good questions it gets a lot easier.
You get your assignment grades near the end of the course. You enter tests not knowing how well youre doing and what to work on! Its December and still no grade for an assignment from Oct! Hes lazy and doesnt teach the content. Online he expects students to read the textbook and video lectures from another prof before next class. Avoid!
Worst prof ever. Doesn't give us feedback and nothing is handed back to us in time and we are just stuck trying to understand what he is trying to teach us and he doesn't even talk about newly introduced functions. He copy-pastes notes and yet gets things wrong. I paid so much money just to deal with this mess.
Lazy teaching and extremely condescending, instead of berating students for asking questions and wanting to learn in a course they paid for, why not put that energy into your JOB bro. stay away from this class
He marks assignments and tests so late, you would not know where you need improvement before the actual exam. Hes not the best at giving feedbacks. He doesnt care if his students actually learn anything. I wouldnt recommend having him as your lecturer for this course.
He is the worst teacher that I have ever had in my entire life. Truste me, because I have a Masters Degree in the Engineering field. Also, he never returns your assignments and exams grades on time. Usually you go to the finals without know what you are doing wrong. _Master of copy and past solutions, _Do not have or give you extra exercicses,
I feel like he could make a better effort in his comments and marking effort it's near the end of the semester and I haven't received any marks. In addition to comments, I had marks taken off for assignments without any feedback as to why I might've lost marks on the assignment, it would be nice to know why a question would be marked as wrong.
He absolutely does not care about anything other than his eye
classes are not interactive. you have to learn material yourself
material was good but the method of teaching was just absolutely terrible cant believe i paid almost $10k for this
Definitely wouldnt recommend taking his class
Hands back marks extremely late. Teaches by typing out what he is saying on a word document, and loves to do logic puzzles instead of teaching python.
Classes are difficult, but the professor's explanation is also difficult. Of course, there will be individual differences in the speed and acquisition of students in learning. However, tests and assignments are more difficult compare to the class. I was thinking "Did I learn these things while doing the class?"
He values grades more than student's learning and does not seem to had taken a look at my accommodation letter even though I forwarded it twice .He included unseen questions in every test, which other professors would never do. He had gone through test reviews and assignments in a way that many of them cannot comprehend.
Guy does logic puzzles instead of teaching you python. automatically assumes you know what he's doing and when you ask questions he gets upset for you not understanding something he didn't teach. Wouldn't recommend. Avoid if at all possible!!! Gives 0 feedback
He is very bad at teaching. I hope in his generation he would have never passed his college. so that we would never meet this kind of disaster in life. He just assumes that the student knows everything about the course. It seems like he is teaching himself instead of students. He should be punished as he takes so much money and teaching like shit
Corkigan's lectures consist of following textbook tutorials that you could easily do on your own. Midterm was terrible, and the 6 Labs were repetitive and complicated. If you are knowledgeable in the subject he is teaching you will be fine, however if you are still learning expect to sit though a lot of boring lectures.
Please DO NOT ever register to this prof's class. You won't learn anything from him unless you have some background in programming, you will survive in his class. The prof does have a boring lectures, and just do readings. Also, taking an exam without coding app doesn't makes sense cos this is a prog subj so why can't we use any apps or even notes.
would not take him again
Lectures were fast and brief making it hard to keep up sometimes. In addition to receiving all submitted assignments back late, not to mention going into the exam while not having received my labs 5 and 6 and a graded exam all I received was a final grade without any feed bad what so ever.
A rushed professor discouraging questions and making unjust accusations creates a tense learning atmosphere. Relying on shared resources leads to unfair accusations, leaving students unsupported in this challenging environment.
do not take this professor because i have heard from other students their professor gave them 100% or above 90 at least, He's always trying hard to deduct marks for small things.
I liked him, but I can see why others don't. His lectures are just working through the textbook examples and he goes very fast. Very easy to get left behind. But that lecture style was very helpful for me. Very approachable and helpful though. Will help you work through any problems.
This guy doesn't care. He's old and doesn't want to do anything. No grades for assignments until the week before finals. Assignments are extremely strict without telling you (says to create a read function, but never specified it HAD to be called read() and that only, but grades you for that). Just avoid. Isn't good at coding, hardest marker.
Never gets assignments graded in a reasonable time and mostly just reads off slides. Liked him better in a class that was centered around working through labs with him. Good guy tho.
Personally, his lecture teaching was a bit too fast, speeding through each lectures and the practice exercises but a very slow marker. Despite that, he was still pretty great. He's willing to help the best he can when a student asks for clarifications for lectures or assignments.
He is probably the worst professor I've had since it takes a month minimum to hand back the labs done, and had to be reminded the week one was due to open it so we could start it. Overall if you have him just teach yourself the material, since his lectures are fast and he doesn't slow down. Also for this course DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK.
Horrible teacher rush's through content not caring if the students understands it or not also marks everything late so you never know what you did right and wrong for finals, going to be a lot of self studying if you're trying to pass this class
Honestly one of the worst teacher i have ever had in my life, i honestly feel sorry for the future students who has to take his class. The dude only cares about going over the slide as quick as he can, marks your grade late, and goes over the assignment late doesn't care if you understand the topic, and does everything and expect you to know it.
one word: TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice guy, but lectures were fast and hard to follow. I had to teach myself most of the material. Only graded our assignments within the last month.
Terrible teacher that reads of paper with no interactions, honestly have no clue how he still teaching at Mohawk nobody must want the work there or something, grades everything last minute and sometimes you don't even get your grades back until after exam, made me want to drop out many many many many times, all self teaching!
all the 5 stars review must be from him or his kids, WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD, Terrible at teaching, no interactions and a lot of self teaching and the worst part is HE TEACHES EVERY CLASS YOU NEED TO PASS Software development!!!!
Not that bad. His lectures aren't exceptionally interesting, but they exist, and contrary to what everyone else says I really don't think you need to attend them; if you have precision Googling skills, it's not hard to cover. He is a SLOW grader. Do not expect to receive feedback for anything before two or three assignments after it have passed.
I didn't experience anything written below, the prof wasnt bad. A few things to note, the prof was extremely knowledgeable about intro to networking, and consistently gave examples on current topics, similarities to systems in real life we interact with and was overall just giving us information. Prof has gotten better or reviews below failed.. lol
Not a good teacher. Not the worse teacher. He doesnt really know much about hardware but he does know his networking. He just reads off the slides as is and thats the entire lesson. He doesnt provide any value bring there in front of the class.
Overall his teaching was an okay experience. Lots of lectures to listen to, which wasn't really that interesting, but it also wasn't too difficult of a class and he taught what was required for students to succeed. Classes could sometimes be boring but it was not a bad experience by any means.
