Nick is a great teacher!! He is very funny and loves what he is teaching. I would recommend him to anyone!
I'm glad that I had picked a good instructor
No Comments
He's the best math teacher I've ever had. Hands down. Plus he's absolutly adorable and young and he curses like a sailor! ;)
math is cool
only math teacher who has ever made it look easy
Nick ROCKS!!!!!
You have to do the work his way or he takes off points, even if there is easier ways to do it. Likes to cuss a lot.
great teacher you dont need to do the homework. just learn
Great, Great, and Great. He loves what he does...and it shows. This guy is blunt and has a high expectation of his students. Do not take this class if you want an easy course because anything that is worth anything is not easy. Highly Recommend this teacher to anyone who wants to develop structure to their work and who wants to actually learn.
Math is my worst subject and i have struggled all through school but when i took math 96 and 97 with nick, everything made sense. He is VERY good at explaining things, welcomes questions, and i would recommend him to ANYONE!!! Nick ROCKS
Great class. Wish I could follow Nick to 142. Do the homework, show up to class and you will get it. If you don't get it, just ask him for help. He can speaks math to anyone on any level.
Nick is a very clear teacher. He goes over each lesson very plainly and clearly. Homework is essential to do well in this class. There's a new assignment everyday. If you fall behind on the homework, do not expect to do well. He explains things well, and is willing to help students during office hours. Tests were fair. Class was fun. Good teacher.
Awesome teacher. Young, fun personality with lots of energy! Always excited to teach math. Nick is clear and easy to follow, homework is what will save you though, unless you already know the stuff. Takes like a weak to grade tests it seams. He will answer one question at the beginning of class, but helpful outside of class. Very good instructor!
He takes a long time to grade papers and he wears the same clothes day after day. Other than that, he's ok.
also had for math 107...very easy to follow, loves to teach. Most importantly wants you to do good, watches family guy and house alot, so comment on those. Very eager to help, even though i wasnt in his math 98 he still helped me in his office so could pass. Overall excellent teacher and alot of fun to talk to.
by far the best math teacher at CBC,truly wants you to do well, is always there to help you if you go to his office. Made Calculus seem like a piece of cake with lively discussions, and curses like crazy!!
Nick rocks! He is funny, energetic, and has a passion for math. It definitely shows. If you hate math, he will make it fun. If you don't understand it, he will take time to explain it. He makes math simple! Do the homework, and leave the rest to Nick!
Was not impressed with this teacher. He graded poorly because if things weren't done his way he took off major points even if you got the right answer. Did not like this class at all. Nice person, bad teacher.
Fantastic teacher. Extremely clear and easy to understand. Appears easy going in most matters, but REALLY HATES ringing cell phones in class and tardiness. Seriously, REALLY HATES! So don't be late, and don't forget to silence your phone.
Nick is a great teacher. Favorite math teacher so far at CBC
Best math teacher I ever had!! I don't think he liked me, but I really enjoyed his class. He taught things clearly and with great enthusiasm. His lectures are very animated so the numbers don't seem so mundane. I would recommend him to everyone!
Nick is pretty good at teaching math. He gives partial credit on wrong answers if you are doing the problem correctly too.
Nick is a great teacher, he explains things very clearly and makes jokes. He is always wearing old rocker t-shirts which is fun and shows how laid back he is. Homework isn't manditory but it really helps if you wanna do well on tests. He likes you to do things a certain way but he is very clear on it so its not a big deal.
He joked around to much, talked about what shows he watched more than math. Got mad very easy. teached at a very fast pace. Talked alot about the lastest rock concert alot and then there was rock t-shirt day. Paid good money for this class felt like I was back in high school. Needs to be more professional.
Nick was a good teacher but he got mad at students to easy and made jokes that no one understands. he worked really fast but would back up if you need. he seemed to not care whether you passed or not.
This was a difficult math class, but Nick was a good teacher. He made sure we knew what we were doing, and was always willing to answer questions. The tests were rather difficult, and to pass you had to know what you were doing
Let me just start off by saying I HATED MATH with a passion before going into this class. He made it so easy to understand, he is very laid back, but has his serious moments... Show up to class, take notes, ask ?, but don't talk during class, its rude, and he doesn't like it. Over all he is an awesome teacher I can tolerate math now!! :0)
He is a relaxed guy. Doesn't require you to do homework, although you need to do it to get a good grade. He explained things very well. Very helpful for answering questions in his office hours. Kinda strict on grading exams. Grade is based on exams and quizes. He cusses sometimes. Favorite math teacher so far at CBC. Pay attention, and do the HW!
Does not care if you pass or not. Stated in the first week of his class only one-third of the class will pass. He does enjoy teaching math, but still could care less if you pass. It is all test so if u are not good at at taking test then you are screwed. his test are hard to.
If you are looking for an easy A I wouldn't recommend him. If you are looking for a math class that is challenging and enjoyable than he is a great teacher. He works hard to prepare clear lessons that make math seem easy not frustrating. All his test are fairly made with no surprises.
Had him for 96, 95, 141. Explains things very well, always shows the best tricks, revises lectures constantly to get the best message across. Younger and does have a good personality. You get exactly what your paying for. An education.
He's a really nice guy, but I despise his methods when it comes to what he does in class and what he puts on the tests. His in-class work is easy- Tests were extremely difficult by comparison. He says he takes all his questions for the tests and quizzes from the homework in the book, but I only saw a couple questions that came from the book.
Good teacher, was his first time teaching Calc 3, lectures were good, grading was fair although the tests were much more difficult than the homework and lecture stuff and the final was brutal
This fellow is a rather good one. He's surprisingly enthusiastic about the most boring subject on planet earth. It's a math class with daily, ungraded homework so go figs it's not easy, but he's very smart about teaching and learning the material for tests and quizzes is made easy by him.
Mr. Criddle is very nice, kind of funny, and he's always clear with what he's teaching. It was an easy class for me and I recommend him!
Everything is based off your quiz and test scores. He gives homework every day but I would definitely still do it if you wanna actually know what your doing. Overall cool guy, absolutely hates phones so don't text or atleast be sneaky about it. Sometimes he won't say when a quiz actually is but he'll basically tell you when he says "you might want your calculator tomorrow." The quizzes are 4 or 5 questions but make sure you ace those in case the test is hard. Best math teacher I've had at CBC.
He's really entertaining, you won't fall asleep! I recommend!
Very very very good teacher he explainbed thihngs very well and made it easy to pass! Dont ever skip or you will fall behind and do your homework every night. He is a very hard grader on tests though so make sure you understand all the material.
Nick Criddle was a really good math teacher. He can be a bit anal about stuff, but overall he is very helpful and wants the students to know and understand the content (which is probably the only hard part about the course).
Hands down, the most amazing professor on campus. Take this class, expect to work and work hard and if you do, expect success. Says he doesn't care but will go above and beyond to help those who deserve it. Not for slackers. Not easy. Can completely change your ability with math.
He's a lot of fun! I really enjoyed his class. He explains the lessons very well. He may joke around here and then but that's because he wants the class to lighten up a bit. I recommend anyone to take his class. The sucky part is, his class fills up quick when it comes to registration day.
When you ask for help, he doesn't explain to you well. How let you to figure out by yourself.
Heard negative comments about him as a professer before i took the class but I actually enjoyed his class. I felt like i understood math in his class and that hasnt happened in a LONG time. He does joke around a lot but it made me feel more relaxed helping me feel confident about the tests and such. Not a bad teacher.
If you want to pass calculus, he's your best shot. Highly Recommended.
SMART GUY
he is a smart guy. everyday you will be required to take notes. he explains everything well. attendance is important. he will not let you make up any assignments/tests if you are sick. class is based off of quizzes and tests only! he will announce them ahead of time so you have time to prepare.
If you need help in this class, take advantage of his office hours. There is not a lot of time in class to go over questions, but if you ask him out of class he is really helpful. The stuff you go over in class is a lot easier than the book work, so don't worry if you don't understand the homework.
I am TERRIBLE at math and everything he has explained has made total sense! So happy I took this class with him! So helpful and explains things very well. You wont be disappointed with his class!!!
He is not for everyone. I like that he talks however he wants, sometimes you may be intimidated to ask for help but regret any kind of hesitation after you realize he is more than willing to help. I like his way of teaching he leaves the option of passing or failing to you he grades based off your quizzes and tests not homework.
He is the best math professor ever.
Hes a guy with a sense of humor and his occasional cursing spices things up. he describes what you need to do to plainly its hard to not understand. The work load inst bad but its not a class you want to relax in.
Grade is based off test & quizzes. He has his own way of teaching, which makes the material understandable. Like most classes, there isn't enough time to answer many questions in class, but he always mentions that everyone can visit him during his office hours. I enjoyed him and the class.
Criddle is an amazing teacher! He is hilarious and realistic, and explains things very clearly. He only grades off tests and quizzes which can be tough, but overall an amazing instructor! He really cares about his students and welcomes everyone to his office every day for any questions, which he explains clearly. Would love to take his class again!
Nick is a great teacher! His lectures are well organized & easy to understand. Your entire grade is based off 3 exams, 4 quizzes and a comprehensive final. He is a tough grader but if you go to class and pay attention you shouldn't have a problem. He also has a great sense of humor, I had fun in his class! Wish he was teaching 142
Nick is a great teacher! His lectures are well organized & easy to understand. Your entire grade is based off 3 exams, 4 quizzes and a comprehensive final. He is a tough grader but if you go to class and pay attention you should do fine. He also has a great sense of humor! I had fun in his class, I wish he was teaching 142.
I have been going to cbc for FOUR years and Nick is in my top two of best professors I have had so far.
I have been going to CBC for FOUR years and Nick is in my top two of best professors so far.
Best teacher I've ever taken at CBC, would definitely take for the rest of the calculus series.
He's very casual in class, curses occasionally if that's an issue. He's an abstract math teacher, he comes at the math from some weird angles from time to time. He seems like a decent teacher, but his teaching style just didn't work for me.
Great teacher fro astronomy 101. Fun lectures, somewhat confusing test, but overall a great experience. Would recommend. Attendance is a must!
worst teacher ever and RUDE, I earned all A's this quarter except for this class. I WOULD NOT recommend taking this class with criddle, he doesn't have a good knowledge as a mathematician and tried to be funny
He assigns homework every night, but you turn in almost nothing. Hes really funny and good at explaining math. Stay off your phone, and show up and you will have a great time. He cusses in class, but hes a good teacher. The only issue is there's not really room to fail an assignment. Make sure to study if you wanna pass.
Do the work and you will succeed.
Had him for PreCalc 1 and he is the best math teacher I have ever had. He will cover the concept quickly but clearly and loves having people come in to ask questions or just talk during office hours. He balances the learning nicely with humor and makes math truly enjoyable. I highly recommend taking him.
Criddle is an awesome teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory but he doesn't give out makeup work so showing up to class should be a priority. He is really laid back and is willing to help if you ask. I have taken two classes taught by him now and I would take another one if I had a choice.
Great professor, teaches Calc very well and grades fairly, except first exam, watch out for notion on limits.
Great Prof! I took him in spring 2017 and loved his class! I took him as the lab Prof too and had a blast! Really funny and wants you to ask questions, most of the class can be taken up with questions. I personally didn't really read a lot from the book. If you go to class every night and pay attention half the time you can pass if you just listen!
I LOVE him. He's very fun in class and explains everything thoroughly. He wants people to ask questions and tries very hard to answer them. Lots of homework but it's not graded. about 4 quizzes and 4 tests. Sort of harsh grader but most points are awarded for showing work. If you've got something on the page, you'll get points.
He was good at explaining things and answering questions but he grades hard. He doesnt use canvas so you cant see your grade throughout the quarter, which is kind of annoying. You take 4 quizzes and 4 tests throughout the quarter and a cumulative final at the end of the quarter. I wouldnt take him again.
His grading criteria did not accurately represent my knowledge of the material. The entire grade is based off of six quizzes and tests, so if you fail one you're done for.
Criddle gives okay lectures, but does not emphasize homework which can turn into a problem on test day; he also only gives a few quizzes and 3 tests over the whole quarter, which is solely what you are graded on. Be prepared to work!
He is hilarious and a good lecturer but he was unresponsive to emails and caused me a lot of undue trouble because of it. Missed class one day because of personal reasons and was not told that we didn't have class on a Monday. Told him this and he said don't skip then. Thought this wasnt very considerate. Have mixed feelings
He makes it known that going to lecture is important, which should already be a given. Love how the homework was all due on 1 day of the week. Went to speak with him during his office hours and loved how there was 3 students in there comfortable getting help from him. The way he teaches makes getting the work very easy. Plus, he's funny!
Hes funny but can be a bit rude. Hes an ok teacher. I was able to understand everything and make sense of what the hw was. The problem for me was when test day came around. He says its based on the hw but its much harder. Hes a tough grader and there is not much room for improvement in grades if you do bad on a test. I dont recommend him.
Nick Criddle is a terrible professor. He doesn't explain his material well, and always wants to show the why behind everything, and not the way the material needs to be taught. His examples won't follow what the book is wanting either, so no instructions are clear.
I love Criddle's teaching method. He really knows his material and explains the reasoning behind everything. There is homework due every week and 4 tests overall.
Overall Hilarious teacher that loves his job and always has postitve energy. If you need help he is always there and will do as much as he can to keep you interested
Mr. Criddle gives clear lectures and make sure students understand the material in class. He assigns homework every day but you aren't graded on it so you can do as much or as little as you like. All that matters are the quizzes and tests. Criddle is funny as well and is pretty accessible if you need help outside of class.
I took this class that was originally supposed to be in person but because of covid it was online. the professor didnt even teach the class. another professor was teaching lectures. the only thing he grades is exams. its hard to get your grade back up if you struggle. he didnt really work with me and wasnt flexible at all during covid.
Professor Criddle teaches calc well. With classes online this quarter we usually had 2-5 video lectures a day. He assigns a lot of homework but doesn't grade them, good practice though. Only graded on tests and quizzes and takes points away from minor notation errors. Calc is hard in general, so expect to work hard for a good grade.
I took my first and second Calculus courses with Professor Criddle. Let me start off by saying this guy is the most down to earth badass teacher youll ever meet. He cares about you and will always help if you need it. I shared my answers with a student on the final and of course got in trouble for plagiarism. My actions earned me the grade.
Online might be alot different than in person but the lecture videos you get shown don't represent what you get tested on. The level of difficulty Of the test questions is far above and beyond anything in the lecture videos. I understand all the lecture videos Perfectly well. I'm pretty decent at math normally but I literally got a 10% on the test.
doesn't even make this own videos for online, has another teachers video. does not give back good feedback on quizzes, barely tells you what you did wrong and how many points you lost. only has quizzes and exams and a few discussion in grade book so you're screwed if you mess up on one for test or quiz.
This teacher had an odd grading system. Once your grade goes down its difficult to get it back up, with no homework in between tests as a buffer for your grade. He does link the class directly to tutor straight away, which was helpful, I just was not following his grading system.
Nick was a great guy, always super helpful in office hours. He's good at explaining abstract calc concepts simply. If you take his class MAKE SURE TO DO THE HW even if it's just optional. The only thing I didn't really like abt his class was that there wasn't that much in the grade book so you had to do good on almost every single assignment.
I took this class and ended up dropping out because it felt impossible to do online. He didn't use his own lectures but instead another person's and they went over things somewhat clearly, but they were difficult to follow. Felt as if they thought I just finished algebra, but I finished 3 years ago. Very difficult for me online.
I nearly failed my algebra 3/4 course, but in this class was proud of my performance. Criddle was super funny and I enjoyed how he showed every step of the problems. He didn't assume we already knew it; he actually taught it for us. Bad reviews may just be because that person happened to take an online math course. In person he was incredible.
Nick is very clear in what he teaches. It's very easy to follow along, and he will stop to make sure everyone understands the subject. His lectures are usually done before class ends. The homework isn't mandatory, but it's recommended as the only things that are graded are tests and quizzes. He also helps people with their math after school.
He provided great feedback and easily accessible outside of class. There was quite a bit of homework, but if you put in some effort you can get it done. I would say he's not as difficult as some say, but that's my personal opinion.
As in many math courses, you will find yourself learning some of the material on your own. Homework is optional, but a MUST. Don't skip class, it is crucial to pass. Graded by only quizzes and exams, which can affect your grade if you don't do awesome in some of them. You will do good if you make sure to study and do most of the suggested homework.
I withdrew from the class due to its extreme difficulty, untaught math quizzes, and an unsupportive attitude when seeking help. It demanded independent learning and constant intellectual challenges. I can't recommend it. Please take a different math class, and choose yourself and your mental health. The whole grade is made up of quizzes and exams.
Dr. Criddle is amazing! He has super clear grading guidelines, great lectures, will answer any questions you could have.
Honestly im a math whizz i do not know why this was hard nothing he taught was in the tests or correlated with any of the "homework" please if you need to be able to see how to break down problems find another teacher he was a bit comical though but not worth it.
Professor Criddle was an ok professor, I unfortunately had to drop due to my grade being under a passing grade. he only grades lecture checks, quizzes, and exams which are only every couple of weeks so if your fail one exam or quiz you are not likely to get your grade back up because he does not grade or check the "homework".
This class was very difficult and frustrating as I could not get my grade back up after having one bad test. Professor Criddle did not explain the homework at all during class. There also were multiple questions on the quizzes/exams that were never referenced in the homework or in class. If I were to grade this class I would give it a D plus.
I liked this class. His teaching style emphasizes the WHY and helps with the bigger picture. The pace is pretty fast and missing a day can impact comprehension. The homework is optional but I HIGHLY recommend doing it anyway. If you do all the homework you do fine on the test, I learned that the hard way.
Criddle was good at simplifying Calculus and encouraged a lot of questions. He was funny and taking quality notes from his lectures was a breeze. The content was challenging, but what else can you expect from Calculus? He did only grade lecture checks, quizzes, and tests, so there was not much cushion.
Criddle is cool and funny and I want to like him, but he just is not a good teacher. The lectures do not cover what is on homework/tests (which he does not go over) so you'll need to self teach. Lastly, there are very few graded assignments, so a poor performance on a test will tank your grade. Sometimes it genuinely feels like he wants us to fail.
Professor Criddle is super laid back and fun. His lectures are informative and he empathizes that you can contact him with questions. Unfortunately, a few tests are almost the entire grade, so be prepared to study.
I liked Prof. Criddle, he was funny and made class interesting. There were 4 tests, this is what your grade is made up. They are weighted heavily and if you do bad on one your grade will drop significantly. I wouldn't take this class again because the tests count for so much of your grade and is very difficult to raise.
I had high hopes for this guy and he let me down. Seemed like a pretty nice teacher at first, later realized he doesent really care for his students' sucess. His classroom is insanely quiet during tests quizzes or exams i go mentally insane, i can hear people writing from across the room. Also he NEVER ever replys over email or canvas. :(
When you ask for help he encourages you to go to his office hours which he will fail to show up too. I learned more from YouTube videos than from his class being that most the homework/exams were full of questions we've never covered in class. You can read the textbook but even the smart kids couldn't make out what the text was saying.
Doesn't grade homework so you pretty much have to rely on passing your quizzes and exams. Fun teacher great lectures, but his grading isn't my forte. Also, if you do take this class, you better study outside of class a good amount and I would recommend getting ahead of class.
Professor Criddle can be a bit hit-or-miss. His class is tough, with exams heavily weighted, making it hard to recover from a bad performance. While the lectures aren't always the most helpful, using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can make a big difference. Overall, not the easiest class, but manageable with dedication.
Professor Criddle gave good lectures and I felt good about the math in class. However, you are only graded on exams which is rough, homework was optional and is not graded. There is also no extra credit. Over all he teaches fine, but I wouldn't take again because I wanted to be graded on more than tests.
