Dr. Dungey is awesome. Has had a huge impact on my life. I guarantee you will take at least 5 life lessons away from his class. His tests are largely from his lectures, he goes over every chapter in detail, as long as you show up to class and take notes you will do good.

I had him for an independent study, all I did was read the book, then show up to take the test. He responded to all my emails promptly. On test day, he basically told us we would all get A's. And I thought he was cute. I wonder if he'd ever do a guy...

I took 2 classes from Prof. Dungey a few years ago at UC-Davis. I really enjoyed his eccentric teching style, his insightful questions, & class discussions. Go to his office hours and be polite & joke around a little, & he'll help you a lot with the material. Do your reading! Really a great prof.

If you have ANY INTEREST in political philosophy he is by far the ONLY professor to take. Dungey is an Ivy League caliber professor somehow caught in state college hell. I had heard so much about Dungey and then finally had him for my last semester. He is incredibily charasmatic and entertaining. By far the most inspirational and intelligent professor in Political Science, anywhere. I was extremely fortunate to take him at Northridge especially since he is IVY League caliber. Dungey was a professor at UCSB 8 years ago, and my friends and I were all in love with him. Actually, half the class was in love with him. More importantly, he is truly great at what he does.

I took Dungey's Political Philosophy course at UCSB about 10 years ago. I still remember the great phrases he would use: "The truth is a marching army of metaphores!" "In the great swamp of life, don't just be a tadpole..." You really couldn't help but get just as enthusiastic as he was.

I took this class outside my major (Film) as an upper division ellective, and found it very challenging. I read and re-read the material and learned a great deal. I had never met, and probably will never meet a man like Dungey. He really wants you to learn and to improve yourself through the understanding of the material.

Dungey was the best professor I ever had at UCSB. I still talk about him to my friends! People from other majors would come just to sit in on his lectures. Most intense, inspiring, and intelligent professor!

An extremely easy class if you can write complete sentences (obviously he doesnt expect much, can't blame him). The "you guys are so smart" comments get annoying, when these kids are in fact, not very smart at all. Other than that not a bad class...

Professor Nicholas Dungey is an extremely energetic and passionate professor. He communicates the information in a melodramatic way but he gets you to retain the information. He presents some controversial material and may be offensive at times. Take into consideration everything he says. He is an amazing professor and truly does care.

If you are a PoliSci student, you must take Dungey before you graduate. I had no problem waking up at 6 am for his 8 am class.

I took two classes with Dungey when he was visiting UCSB in the 2000's. He was a very dynamic lecturer that keep the material exciting. As a political science major I would say that he was one of my favorite professors. He is open to debate without derailing the topic at hand. Well thought out answers are more important than regurgitation.

Took a class with this professor years ago at UC Davis in the early 2000s. Was reminded of him when talking to an old friend. Great professor and studied Strong Democracy by Benjamin Barber most of the quarter. A unique classroom experience. Today I work in finance in a job that has nothing to do with politics, but I still remember this class.

2 papers, midterm and final, both take home, no other class work. Gives prompts a couple of weeks before they're due. Gives "study guides" a few weeks before papers are due. Take good notes of what he says, and quote the book a lot, pretty easy A if you're a decent writer. Very passionate professor, his lectures are pretty entertaining imo.

He is very passionate about what he teaches & his students. While the lectures aren't mandatory they will help a lot on the midterm and final. I'd suggest not missing more than 2 or 3. There are only two assignments for the course a midterm and a final, both are essays. He gives answers to the essay prompts during lectures. Highly recommend!

I couldn't have chosen a better professor last semester. He is phenomenal/inspiring, and hilarious. He is way easy in terms of testing. You get three take-home exams, including the outlines on how to structure them. You can't fail. He can snap occasionally at the average college slacker, but he means well, and is human after all. OMG! He is the most amazing and well-respected professor that I ever took. His political philosophy is so interesting and deep that you'll question about yourself or the society. He assigned three book reading, so be prepare to do so. There's no quiz, but only one midterm and final essay (hard). Trust me! You'll find his class very interesting.

One of the very best there is! This is what I always imagined the university experience to be like. He's passionate, animated, invested, and possesses a clear mastery of the subject. No tests or homework. Two 7 page papers (2x spaced). Taking thorough, complete notes during the lectures is essential. A beautiful class that everyone should take!

Attendance isn't mandatory but you will fail if you don't come to class and listen to the lectures because you need the lectures to write the paper.

Lectures are inspirational, thought provoking, and overall refreshing to witness from a professor. He is very intelligent on the subject matter and wants to see his students to succeed.

Professor Nick Dungey is quite a character. Very funny, understanding, and passionate. Take him while you can as he'll retire in a couple years. Class grade is decided by a Midterm (40%) and Final (60%). You'll read three short philosophical texts, very cheap. Attendance isn't required but recommended as he outlines what he wants in his papers.

Easy class. I never read any of the text. Showed up only half the time and got an A. As an engineering student, this class didn't take time away from my engineering classes what so ever.

Mr. Dungee is retiring in a couple of years so take him while you can! Hes quite the character! Hes very caring too. He will drill into your head everything you need to know, So just take good notes and read summaries of the books and youre golden. Got 100% on my first essay. Waiting on the next. Try not to skip class, his lectures are critical

Professor Dungey is the BEST! Take-home midterm and final. Not a very hard class with fascinating lectures. It'll make you think twice about how politicians behave.

I have never wrote a review for a professor before, but I have taken professor Dungey for several classes now and he is truly the best! Its refreshing to have a teacher that engages with the class and addressses heavy topics that make you wonder everything and everybody around you. Best professor ever, highly recommended him!

Best professor I've ever had in my life HANDS DOWN. His lectures are phenomenal and moving. He cares more about your self-actualization as a person than anything else. Two take-home essays. If you take good notes and read the books, you'll do excellent. He is retiring soon. TAKE HIM. I desperately want to take him again. Thank you Dungey.

I am really interested in political science and really enjoyed taking this class. This class taught me to think about how my day to day life is affected by politics. Even if you don't like politics i suggest taking the class. The two assignments youth will be graded on are a midterm take home essay and a take home final essay.

Best Professor ever! Only gives two assignments, is engaging and thought provoking in lectures and is just friendly in general. If you need to get some poli sci knowledge under your belt, he is the way to do it.

Take him if you can. All of the books are free online. 1 Midterm essay and 1 Midterm final. He provides outlines and study guides for lectures. He gives you the answers for the midterm and final, you just need to attend class. He truly wants his students to succeed, there's no reason to not get an A in his class. Great and passionate professor!

Professor Dungey will have you thinking about things you'd never even considered. His lectures are profound, and he wants you to pass his class. Just 2 assignments: a mid-term and a final paper. These are not research papers, but based entirely on the lectures and the books. Follow the lectures, take good notes, and you can easily write an A paper.

Dungey is one of my favorite professors ever. He's not your typical professor so I suggest taking at least one of his classes. You have to read from the text but he has amazing lectures that go through everything you need to know in order to pass so just pay attention to his lecture. There's no homework only a midterm and final that are essays

Professor Dungey has been one of my favorites hands down. This man has DRIP!!! these recent positive reviews have pretty much summed up what I was gonna type. But, that negative review he just receive idk, must be a person that never attended class and/or must HATE reading! Take him I RECOMMEND IT!!!

I took this class my first semester and WOW. I thoroughly enjoyed political theory before this class but he made me fall in love with it. He is so caring with his students and if you're ever feeling behind make sure you go to his office hours because he will take the time to explain it to you. Make sure you take notes on his lectures.

Professor Dungey is hands down the best lecturer I've ever seen. Truly inspirational and definitely my favorite professor. Most professors are boring and read off slides but not Professor Dungey. His lectures really capture your attention and leave you thinking afterward. On top of all that, attendance was not mandatory and it's an easy A.

I wish there were more Professors like him. The type that wants to see you succeed in his class and grasp a true understanding of the material. Its like he shows that he cares for each of us after every lecture. He says love you guys like were all friends. Show up to class and take notes while he lectures. Thatll literally be your exam.

All books were free pdfs online. Use spark notes and his outlines and you can easily write the papers. Class is extremely helpful because you can quote him word for word on the papers and get A's. He is really funny and chill and the lectures are great.

Took 412 and 350 with him.Didn't attend much just cus i can't stand being sedentary for so long, but really energetic lectures! Wish there was more time for questions, 1.2 hours isn't a lot of time for the material. would recommend if ur good w mostly lectures. a lot to read, but they're interesting books! - n

Professor Dungey is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. His lecture style is so easy to follow BUT you must read the books assigned or you will fall behind. He has outlines that go with his lectures which makes note taking so easy and organized. Very lively and enthusiastic but still honest. His class inspired me to be a POLS major

One of the best to ever do it. Tremendously passionate about political philosophy, and gives great lectures that are filled with humor. Lots of reading, but only 2 papers all semester, so really get to know the text. You probably won't find a better political philosophy teacher anywhere else, take this course!

Professor Dungey is so enthusiastic about what he teaches which makes the lectures very interesting. We were graded on only a midterm and the final answers are all in the lectures so make sure you attend! All you have to do is make sure you're familiar with the books that the lectures are based on because you do need quotes in your essays.

The only difficult thing about Professor Dungey is that your are only graded on 2 papers. You really have to pay attention to his lectures. If you don't want to think deeply about political philosophy then I wouldn't recommend. With that being said, if you take notes and attend every lecture, this is one of the easiest classes you will ever attend.

Professor Dungey is the best professor I have had in my life. His lectures are PHENOMENAL, I have never been able to take notes of somebody just speaking without any slides, just him speaking from his heart and me sitting there taking notes and a 100% interested. If you need a extra class or are a politics major this class will change your life.

took 2 classes w him and plan on taking more. he makes lectures bearable (which is hard to do) bc he's so intriguing to listen to and that's why taking notes and doing the papers ends up being VERY easy. he wants everyone to pass. its honestly impossible to not do good unless u put in 0 effort. the readings were super interesting on its own too

This guy is super energetic and passionate about the subject. His lectures are immensely engaging and he does an excellent job grounding and linking together relatively abstract concepts. The work load is slight and the assignment parameters are more than reasonable.
