Professor Hall is a really good teacher, he has interesting ways of explaining things, and he has a British accent! Unfortunately, he's there only half the time and his TA, Paula, takes over his lectures and when she does, it is boring, confusing, and she's just not a nice person to begin with.
He's a pretty good lecturer..when he actually decides to come to class. he was missing half the time and his TA was an absolute troll. Hall likes to go on tangents about his life frequently..Next semester I am taking Hilbelink for Anatomy 2.
I had Dr.Hall for both A&P 1 and 2 and it was difficult, but not impossible to get an A. He is brilliant and knows exactly what he's talking about, but you really have to try on your own to succeed in his class. He is helpful and interesting in his lectures but don't expect to be babied. LOOK UP HW Q'S ONLINE. VERY important to study online Q's. :)
You have to read everything on your own. His lectures are pointless. His assistant, Kambria, is rude and constantly talks about FSU. He is a very smart guy but is way too busy outside of teaching to be teaching in the first place. Read, read, read.
Dr. Hall is a very nice person. He likes to ramble about his life, and not solely focus on lectures. It's sometimes hard for me to pay attention... especially when it's only once a week for three straight hours. He curves grades and gives you a lot of opportunity to get that A though.
Nice guy, but lecture gets boring cause it is 3 hours long. Tests are pretty difficult and tricky. It is a hard course, but it is anatomy, that's how it is. Made a big curve at the end. Got an A-, do not know how because it is difficult, but read the chapters and go over the slides a few times at least. Really try to know as much as you can.
The lectures are boring, but I was surprised sometimes at what I actually did pick up from them. The tests are rough (2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final). I was able to pull out at least a low B on each test though. READ the textbook, OVER and OVER! The HW assignments are easy. Do not expect to do well in this class without studying and reading.
Prof Hall is nice. Lectures are long, seem pointless & he rambles. HW assignments are super easy (3 tries). You teach yourself basically. READ EVERYTHING! The exams are confusing & tricky. Somehow I managed to pull out a high B after pretty much bombing both midterm & final. He applied a big curve at the end; lifesaver!!
He's very nice, and always has some crazy, interesting story to tell. Homework is very easy. however, the tests are very hard, I never got better than a B on them. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK. It's your only hope. Read it over and over again. I managed to get an A despite nearly failing the final. He really wants to do everything to help you pass.
He's a nice guy but he rambles and goes off on tangents in class and flies through the slides. He barely covers the basics in class but makes the tests unnecessarily hard and detailed. You're basically paying to have a man tell you to read a textbook and teach yourself.
He talks a lot about rat studies and does not make things very clear, the class was hard and there are 4 major tests worth a lot of your grade. I wish the grades were distributed more evenly.
They say attendance isn't mandatory but there's always clicker questions. He is very intelligent but not there enough to teach. His TA made the class a miserable experience. Basically read the book and cross your fingers. Oh and the "online lab" you pay for is a joke whatever grade you get in the class is your lab grade. If you can avoid him do so.
Dr. Hall seems like a nice guy, but I wouldn't know, considering he is never in class. His TA, Kambria, seems okay, but she's not helpful at all. If you don't understand, she makes you feel stupid and tells you to read it again. I was excited for this course, but now I fear it's gonna be the downfall of my career. Read the book it's your only hope.
This class is HARD. STAY AWAY! The lectures are miserable and pointless because there's nothing from class on the tests, but you need to go because of the clicker questions. If you take him, prepare to read the book forwards and backwards.
Dr. Hall is a cool dude but his tests are almost impossible. I've read the chapters so many times before the tests and I've yet to get a passing grade. He is rarely in class either. His TA does the lectures which don't help. I've somehow managed to keep a B average but don't expect to easily get an A unless you do some hardcore reading and studying
Hall is not helpful. His lectures are all over the place, and nothing said in class is on the test. He makes things confusing. The book will be your bestfriend, as Professor Hall isn't of much help.
This class is SLIGHTLY hard. In lectures, he rambles on but if you don't read beforehand you can easily get lost. His TA, Kambria, wasn't bad. Again, read before lectures so you can follow along and learn. Provided us with multiple homework quizess which were kinda helpful for the tests, there were 3 exams, which you must read and study for!!!
This is not an easy class and you MUST read the book to pass the exams. You don't really know your grade until the end because he doesn't put a lot of the grades in. I went from a D to a B in the span of a week at the end because of the clicker questions. GO TO CLASS!! The clicker questions are based on if you do them, not if you answer correctly.
I wouldn't recommend taking him, you do not learn and it is very stressful to obtain a grade in his class, he changed the weight system the last 2 weeks of the semester and everyone grades dropped. DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. He doesn't give test questions from the book, just horrible.
Professor Hall did an awesome job this semester in my opinion. Although the class did get boring at times, it was so easy to get good grades. *hint* he gets ALL homework and quizzes from quizlet.com. The tests were hard but if you get A's on the quizzes you can easily pass the class. He's an awesome professor and I would recommend him.
I had Professor Hall for both Nutrition and Anatomy I. I was not happy in either of the classes. FIrst, he attends maybe half of his classes and lets the TA teach the other half. When he does show up, he tells the same off topic story over and over again, and never once finished a chapter lecture. Read the book, and hope for the best.
A VERY smart professor. He goes off topic a lot during lecture, but thats because he expects you to read before hand so he isn't teaching you, but expanding your knowledge and covering the hard parts of the material. You MUST read the book. He also gives good clinical "what if" situations during lecture, which was nice since I plan to be a nurse.
This class is so tough! He's so good at what he does that he lectures around the country throughout the semester so he only attends 1/2 of lectures & the other 1/2 is taught by his TA who doesn't teach clearly. Tests are hard, and you'll only ever pass by reading the book. my grade was saved when the final was forced to be online bc of his error
He was barely in class and when he was he would ramble. The book he uses for the test and lectures are different from the one he assigns so it doesn't help much. I got an A in the class and that's because I studied quizlet which is where most of his questions are.
He is hardly there and when he is he rambles. Uses a different book for lectures and test than the one he assigns for the class. I got an A in the class by studying off of quizlet where most of his test questions were from.
He knows a lot of information but he rambles a lot. He reads the chapter summary from the book on the board and is not very engaging during the lecture. Also, you are going to pay for a lab and not get one. USF is at fault but it affects your grade.
Dr. Hall seems like a great guy, but he is honestly a horrible professor. He isn't in class half of the time, and when he is he only goes over like a page of the chapter. Going to lecture is a waste of time, you learn nothing. You will need to read the book on your own in order to do well in the course. His 'test reviews' are useless.
He is a very nice guy and it is a very interesting class. Go to office hours with Kambria, she is great and extremely helpful. Only way to get an A in the course is to read the textbook/chapters and study. You're pre-nursing, you should read the textbook and study and if you don't, you shouldn't be pre-nursing. Quizlet is extremely helpful also!!
Prof Hall is a really nice prof, he understands when majority of the class is feeling stressed, and is willing to listen to suggestions and such. Lectures are reinforcement, the book is really the key to doing good on tests. Tests can be a bit tricky because there's a lot to remember for one test but if you start reviewing early, you should be good
‘Nutrition’ was pretty easy. Dr. Hall is a decent professor. The lectures come straight from the book so make sure to read each chapter. There were 3 exams, at least 1 online homework assignment per chapter (SUPER easy) & a few group assignments. You need to buy the clicker & textbook. Tons of reading, but this is a required pre-Nursing course!
Most understanding professor I've had yet!
Hall is not a bad professor in fact he teaches much like a professor in some specialized program. Meaning that it's up to you to learn the material before lecture and study. Part of the reason I got a c in the class is because I didn't read like I should have its a challenging course but put in the time and you will do just fine.
You should read the material before lecture and take your own notes. While in lecture highlight points and add anything missing. I've heard office hours really helped but could not go because I had a class at the same time. Find the best way for you to study the material and study often.
Professor Hall is a great guy, but his lecturing is tough. If you do not read, you will not pass. His lectures are super confusing, READ THE CHAPTER! It's meticulous, but it's important and will make this class easier. The tests are tough, and I almost dropped halfway through. But if you stick with it and work on it almost every night, you'll pass.
He does not like to test on what is covered in class. In class, he will briefly talk about the chapter and what everything does, but won't go in depth. That is up to you, which means read. Any detail, no matter how big or small, is fair game on his tests. The issue is there is just so much information. Other than that, he is a brilliant man.
This is absolutely the worst class that I have ever taken. Professor Hall presents you with study guides that have no relation to actual questions on the test whatsoever, as well as homework that is 10 times easier than the test material: VERY MISLEADING. I had to find other means of material in order to even pass. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!!!
I took A&P I and A&P II from Dr. Hall. Worst 2 semesters of my life. He gave us a cumulative final with diagrams that weren't even in our textbook. He gave us a joke of a practice final that looked nothing like the real exam. He takes forever to respond to email. OH YEAH he also submitted my final grade incorrectly and never changed it.
Dr. Hall is a brilliant man and if you can keep up with his lectures, he makes the funniest anecdotes and side humor. I could never tell if his stories about wrestling alligators and dangerous kayaking adventures were true, but when he lectures he ties a lot of information together quite cleverly. And his British accent is a huge plus!
I love Dr. Hall. He's really intelligent and loves students who interact with him. If you ask questions, make comments, answer his questions, and talk to him after class, you'll benefit quite a bit. You absolutely have to read - he writes his tests directly from the textbook, so if you don't read it, you have absolutely zero hope of passing.
You can skip his nutrition lectures, just show up for exams dates and get an A.. As long as you've read the book. Online assignments are straight forward. Exams are easy if you've read the book carefully. Use quizlet to practice for his exams and you'll be fine. read read read. Horrible at replying to emails. He is a brilliant man though.
Hall's tests have nothing to do with what he covers. He spends a lot of time talking about his personal life or things irrelevant to the topic. He also does not finish going through his slides. This class was a lot harder than what it needed to be.
His lectures can be pretty interesting and provides good insights on the subject matter itself, however, he is not very effective with communication and he has messed up a couple times with canvas in terms of not entering in accurate grades and test times.
He makes this subject harder than it needs to be, but regardless of the professor it is a hard subject and a lot of material to cover. It takes work but it is not impossible.
I felt misguided the whole semester. If you have to take this class be prepared to teach yourself the material. I asked at the end of a lecture if I could go to his office hours to review a jeopardy game we did in class that he couldn't upload to canvas. He told me to come and when I showed up he said he was to busy. Also he messed up grading
I really loved his class. Attendance was not mandatory but I showed up to every class anyways because he has a fun take on things. I had him for nutrition and he was very clear on the subject. He lectures using powerpoint, and his tests are hard but not long. As long as you study and read the book, you'll be fine.
I would never take this class again in class with Hall ever. I would recommend taking it online. If you get him as a teacher just run and run far. His test are nothing like his lectures so there is no point in going to class at all. He is terrible at grading and I swear doesn't know how to use a computer and is bad with responding to emails.
If you can avoid taking his class, I suggest that you do. His exams are extremely hard and going to class is a waste of time. He does not really discuss the material unless someone asks. He hardly responds to emails or if he gets a lot of the same ones, he will not acknowledge you and just send out a mass email. Only thing that is easy is homework.
I do not go to class because I do not learn anything while in class and it is not worth waking up at 8 am for. All homeworks and labs are online and pretty easy. However, tests questions are confusing and specific. You have to basically teach yourself the information.
I have mixed feelings about this class. Its only offered at 8 am, and there are occasional pop quizzes but I can't actually see what they've been counted toward. While his lectures are very interesting, he doesn't cover most of the material that is on the test; you're expected to read. He dropped the lowest test and two lowest homework grades
Take this class online if you can! He is the toughest professor I've ever had. I read the textbook and still struggled with his tests. Even the tutor I went to said his questions were ridiculous. Most of them come from quizlet, but if you are trying to get into the nursing program don't risk it with him!
DO YOUR CONNECT QUESTIONS. His tests are hard, but possible. His accent is awesome and so is he. He's intelligent so listen up. If you have the slides, going to class isn't all that necessary, but you must read the book. He gets his questions from the company that makes the book, so do the reading online from the highlighted portions. Good luck!
I'm taking nutrition with him in person and my best advice would be to really study the book. All of his questions are taken directly from the book and if you know the material and utilize the 2 pages of notes he allows you, you will succeed in this class. Make sure to be on top of the hw assignment as they can be the difference between an A & a B.
Professor Hall is really smart and a good teacher, but his lectures are really dry and at 8am. The homework modules and the lab assignments are online, so it's easy to get good grades on those, but the tests are hard. Going to lectures makes the material a lot easier to understand, but it's not mandatory.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had. He never responds to emails. He never posts on canvas about what is going on in the class. Do not take him, he's awful.
The hardest professor I've ever had. Skipping is a bad choice. He expects you to read the entire book but more than half of the test information did not come from it or his lectures. He is very detail oriented. P.S. Most schools don't see the difference between normal Anatomy and Anatomy for Health professions-I would suggest normal Anatomy
If you are going to take this class for the love of god don't take it with Hall or at least take it online. His 8am lectures are deadly and you learn nothing but about Halls life. The tests are unholy even though he lets you have a cheat sheet. You need to understand every aspect of the chapters and be able to implement the topics discussed.
Anatomy 1 and 2. In the first part of the semester (1) course was difficult but manageable. I had B overall. BUT in the second semester.. he CHANGED his GRADING SCALE. He made the tests 80 percent of the grade rather than 60 like last semester. I had to drop out because my grade was a 75. He CHANGES EVERYTHING IS NOT CONSISTENT DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.
i mean, if you're going into the medical field, did you expect any of your science classes to be easy? Nick Hall is an amazing professor who cares and gives his students so many chances to better their grade. The way he teaches forces you to learn the material & that's a lot more beneficial than just looking up the answers for an online class.
Professor Hall was an interesting man, but as an educator he was severely lacking. I took both anatomy 1 & 2 with him and the labs. For the most part going to class was not important at all. He let's you create information sheets for the exam and most of the homework can from your book.
Had him for Anatomy 1 and 2 and Nutrition... Lectures aren't mandatory to go to because they're not consistent with the exams. The exams are straight from the textbook, so it'd be better to stay home and read, but good luck because the exams can be hard.
Terrible. Tests are insane and impossible to prepare for. Don't take this professor.
Had him for A&P 1 and 2. He is pretty unpredictable as he drastically changed the grading scale for A&P 2. Even when I studied I didn't do that well. I guess read and do the homework and do detailed notes for your cheat notes and you just might pass. A&P 1 he dropped our lowest test and A&P 2 he curved our grades and told us what to study for tests
Professor Hall NEVER responded to any of my emails throughout the semester. Awful awful communication. Easy class- but he posted tests without making announcements and you only had 24 hours to take them, so I missed one and ended up with a C- in the class after making A's on everything else. Never take him.
Professor takes very long time to grade papers, classes for the semester were over and still no grades. He is not easy to reach and does not answer back emails or messages through Canvas at a reasonable time.
Prof hall is absolutely awful at communication. Lectures are monotonous and not helpful whatsoever for the tests & having them at 8am only makes things worse. The homework helps your grade but tests are ridiculously hard even if you study a ton. Do not take A&P 1 or 2 with him youre better off taking online especially if you want an A.
I feel that Hall does a good job of teaching the subject as best he can considering how broad the subject of anatomy is. He focuses on physiology in lectures and therefore expects you to understand the anatomy by reading the textbook. He uses very long powerpoints so he never makes it all the way through, but they make for good study tools 4 exams!
This professor basically put the book on screen and reads to you during class. He does not offer extra information to help you understand the material. Basically, if you don't comprehend the entire body just by reading, you're screwed.
Lectures aren't necessary. He reads off of powerpoint and posts them online. Awesome dude, though. Lots of interesting stories but not a great lecturer. LOTS of reading, hard material. Uses Connect software. If you don't read and study, you will not pass.
He pulls test questions that are not within the reading material. Lab exam pictures are sometimes impossible to figure out. Hes an amazing speaker but unfortunately doesnt test beyond the basic anatomy level. I wont take his classes again even with a hard earned A.
Very smart guy, but acts as if we're already doctors with the way he describes information. Lecture is not mandatory as the power points he goes over are posted online. Gives tons of homework (around 500-600 questions per every 4 chapters) and tests are very hard. If you're taking his lab, the homework diagrams wont be on the test. HARD EARNED A.
This is the hardest course I've ever taken in my life. And it doesn't help that Hall sucks at teaching at a basic level. He talks as if we're doctors already. I recommend to skip class, he basically just reads the PowerPoint's on the board that you already have access to on Canvas.
You will definitely be self-teaching anatomy in this class. I went to all of the lectures and I found it useful, however, many people stopped showing up by midterms. I managed to get a 90 but it took a lot of tears. The tests were manageable if you stay on top of a schedule for READING! Definitely make time for this class and you will do fine.
Considering the fact that I am a health science major getting A/B's even in the hardest of classes- do not take this class online. Not sure about in-person classes but the problem with this class is that you're graded on two things (homework 30% and tests 60%) and the tests are UNBELIEVABLY difficult. DO NOT TAKE, it will bring down your GPA.
I took this class online over summer and it was AWFUL!! I sometimes had 2-3 chapters due a week. The homework wasn't bad but the tests were VERY hard. I studied hard and never scored better than a B. He asks questions about the smallest details in the book. Tests were 70% and homework was 30%. I had all A's before this class. Don't take him!!
Put simply, Professor Hall is brilliant, inspirational, dedicated, and caring. His course ensures that his students leave the last exam with an extremely solid foundation of the principles of Anatomy and Physiology, while providing an engaging environment to learn. Professor Hall's door is open for material discussion and life advice.
Proctored exams the lecture and lab. You have 1 min per question. This class is an easy A but theres so much homework. Dont wait til the last day to do the hmwk bc it can be 80-125 questions per homework. Prof is not accessible do not bother emailing him you wont hear back from him. Exams are weight a lot 70% exams 30% hwk- its just insane!!
Exams are heavily weighted (60% of your grade) so there is little room for error if you care about your GPA. Torrents and torrents of material to read and memorize, and he isn't super helpful about what he wants you to focus on. He doesn't respond to emails so good luck if you have an emergency.
Mr. Hall doesn't teach if you have him for a lecture. He makes you read the chapter and take notes before you get to class and once you're there he just reads out of the chapter in the most monotone voice. Grading is a joke in his class given that exams are 70%. More than half of the lecture he talks about alligators from his younger years.
Hall is a great teacher, however, there is tons of reading from the textbook but if you stay on top of it it's really not bad, its just a lot of information which you should expect because it is anatomy. Also, the tests are weighted heavily but if you read, take notes, and go to the lectures (where he states what could be on the test) its fine :)
Never responds to emails. I'm sure he's a nice person, but not the best professor. Very test heavy class that tends to have a lot of mistakes. He'll fix some of them, but I've tried emailing him about others but was given no reply. Doesn't bump grades at all, and both what he states in the lecture and what's in the textbook is fair game for exams.
Extensive amounts of homework, little to no outside help, and only goes as in depth as the textbook does regarding material. Reads verbatim from the text and/or powerpoints and if you ask a question, he basically just repeats himself. Rarely responds to emails. Lecture is basically unnecessary as you do all your work online.
Hes a great teacher with many different experiences and stories to share during his lecture! He told us as a class that we didnt need to show up for class in order to learn. I didnt go to class all semester and I still got good grades! Homework is beyond easy, you cant get less than 100% on it unless you do not do it. He makes this class easy!!
Unless you are prepared to teach yourself everything by learning the book, you will not pass this class. I've emailed him several times only to not hear back from him and the semester is ending. You never know exactly what to expect for exams because he uses all Pearson materials but claims otherwise and gives absolutely no direction in class.
Tests questions are worded weird. You can study practice quizzes in the book which is what he says to do but it doesnt help at all. Theres no way of getting your grade up if you do bad on tests.
Professor Hall's class is very self guided. His lectures entail of him saying what is on his slides. He does not go into depth at all. His exams are weirdly worded and are nearly impossible to if you did not read the text book word for word. Would not recommend taking his class at all.
This class is required for pre-nursing students like myself with Professor Hall. Nice man, but class time is not used well. Reads off slides and does not go into depth. I don't learn anything in class except facts about his life that he shares occasionally. Self taught course. Way too detailed exams that just confuse most students. Don't recommend.
This is definitely a reading heavy class. I recommend going to office hours. This is not for the faint-hearted.... one of the toughest classes I've ever taken. He does his best to make sure we are prepared for the tests.
Professor Hall was one of the toughest teachers I have ever had, he did not seem to care if his students passed his class or not. It is all one giant lecture the entire semester with ZERO participation from the class, honestly seemed like he could talk to a brick wall and still be satisfied with himself. VERY difficult to get an A, even a B.
Horrible. Doesn't tell you what's on the test at all and will test you on hundreds of pages at a time. A lot of homework. Lectures are pointless. Don't take him.
Nice & funny guy but you can easily take 10 pages of notes per class. The tests are incredibly difficult and proctored. I'm taking A&P 2 online and am doing a lot better than A&P 1 with Hall.
I had professor Hall for anatomy 1 and 2, and I struggled. He is very intelligent so I recommend go to office hours in order to learn. The lectures and slides are word-for-word from the textbook so they are not helpful. Hall is very accessible outside of class. This course consists of 3-4 tests each semester and one assignment for each chapter.
Dont take him if you want to save you mental health and keep your sanity. Grade in class was composed of 60% exams (4) and 20% homework. Exams are online and proctored. You have to do a lot of reading BEFORE class if you want to do well. Have to be good at teaching yourself. Not easy to reach outside class. (email or office hours)
His first time giving this Honor's course; He has a very interesting life story and gave lots of freedom on the assignments. He truly seemed to care for his students, and made lots of accommodations for us. As long as you do the assignments you get an A, an easy, discussion based, no stress class with a nice professor behind it.
Prof hall is a very nice guy but his class was pretty challenging. I put a lot of hard work in and learned a lot. If you want to do well, you need to put in the effort, it's not an easy A.
You do not have to attend class however you do need to read the textbook. His tests are complicated. He is a fair grader so if more than half the class misses a question he gives everyone credit for that question. However his questions are sometimes hard to follow. He also does not answer emails EVER. Reading the textbook is VERY important!!!!
I honestly thought Hall was an amazing Professor. I took Schwartz for anatomy 1 and barely learned anything. So I decided to take anatomy 2 with Hall since it was an in class lecture. I am so glad that I did because I learned so much. Yes it was a lot of reading and a lot of work, but at the end it was worth it. You just need to study.
Believe me, he is the most sweetest and delightful teacher I ever met, but man his class was a pain. I wished I would've read my textbook a lot more, because his lectures are very difficult to understand. Would not recommend for A&P, but that doesn't mean he could bad in his other classes.
Tests are a large percentage of your grade and lectures have been regarded as a bit tedious by many but comprehensive and helpful study guides for tests are always provided at least a weekend in advanced. I would not recommend if you are not an autonomous learner or a fan of textbook based learning.
Although this one of the hardest classes I have ever taken, Professor Hall is a great teacher and an adorable human being. You definitely have to work to get a good grade! His tests are proctored and I would say they kinda remind me of NCLEX style questions. If I was a better test taker I definitely could have gotten an B+ or A-.
Professor Hall is a very great teacher that will give you help and tips to study if you reach out to him. Email replies may not be very quick but he does teach other courses which is understandable. It is important to read the textbook before the test because each test has very specific questions that come out of it. He also gives study guides
