Make sure you take really good notes and not let that really cute face fool you. but is a great teacher.

He is VERY hard. I'm a straight A student and English is my strong suit. He is a great professor but his online class (which is what I took) is very demanding. You have an assignment due 5 nights out of the week. He is a great person though. I might take a different professor if you want an online class.

I took this class online and learned a lot. Its true that LaRocca is not big on grading the assignments in a timely manner, but does provide that personal touch with the audio feedback which makes it worth the wait. He lets you chose your own topics for the essays and that made it easier to write them. Not an easy "A", he will make you EARN it!!

Very easy to follow and explains everything clearly. Responds to emails promptly. I thought he issued grades in a timely manner. It might have taken him a little longer to grade than most but that was probably because he gives voice notes on all major assignments which no other teacher does. The best English teacher at PBSC!

He's a good teacher. I took him for prep2, comp1 and comp2. I liked each class. I mad an "A" in both prep2 and comp1, but I made a "D" in comp2. The only thing I didn't like about comp2 is that he base your grade off of 1 research paper and 1narrative essay. Which doesn't really give you room to improve your grade if you fail the research paper.

Great Teacher! Enjoyed the class this is one course that you really do learn. You have to work hard and earn your grade! Feedback helpfull and recieved grades in a timely manner. Fabulous, helpful teacher. The work was almost exactly the same as the the syllabus so I knew what would happen. I had to write two papers are before they were due, we did lessons on how to do different parts of the essay. Also, doing discussion questions is important but they do not take too much time.

It's only half way into the semester and he is AMAZING! I am taking him again for ENC1102. He makes the lectures so interesting. His presentations are very easy to understand and extremely humorous. He lets you revise your essays for a better grade! You will need the book because he does assign chapters to read and we do get quizzed on them.

Professor Larocca is very good! Show up to class and do your work. He gives a quiz every week and if you get more than one wrong you fail so READ. Explains everything very good. Gives great feedback! Very funny and charming. I'm definitely taking his ENC1102 class.

He was my favorite professor, he is absolutely hilarious. The assignments can be difficult if you're not used to the amount of work. Other than that, he is very helpful and makes the class a joy to have.

Prof. L is an amazing instructor. I am currently taking his ENC1101 course online and I have to say he is already one of my favorite teachers I've had. His lectures are interesting. Larocca is a great professor! Granted he goes off topic a lot and tells you what he expects verbally the last minute but Everything is in the syllabus. He doesnt remind you when things are due in class so be sure to check you email often. He's a pretty chill guy and makes class entertaining but he is a tough grader.

Professor LaRocca is such a great professor. The class was not hard. Basic grammar for the lab and 5 papers for the semester. They're not hard papers, you choose the topic. He gives good feedback. His lectures online taught me more then i would have ever learned in a traditional class setting. There are assignments/discussion everyday including weekend. The book is helpful on the quizzes and the final is all multiple choice. the final was pretty hard. Very lenient grader. gives general audio feedback.

For his online class, almost everything he teaches is in video form; there are no powerpoints. If you don't like this dont take his class. Also, hes pretty hot!

I took his class spring 2017, and all I can say it was hard to get him to give me more than a 90% on an essay. Although I did end up with an A in the class, i would spend hours trying to perfect an essay with his audio feedback from our drafts and still get an -A. He's funny, but if you miss class even once it'll reflect.

I took him for ENC1101 and he was awesome. I received the same amazing, detailed, caring lectures in ENC1102 as I did in ENC1101. It's important to take both classes with him because he follows and adds to ENC1101. Tough grader, you have to work hard and participate a lot to stay on top of things. Follow his lectures to the T and you'll be alright.

He sees the potiential in ALL of his students , However don't think you are just going to be given an "A" you will definitely have to put in the effort to earn it ! I've taken both of his ENC classes. He does want you to participate, but it's only because he genuinely wants to hear your opinion. Unlike other teachers, he seems to take a genuine interest in each of his students. He can be tough on papers, but if you ensure that you include all of the parts that he wants in the paper, then you'll be fine.

Easy A for the average student, interesting lectures and great professor overall. Gives extra credit opportunities here and there but if you are keeping up with the reading you wont need them.

If you have no writing ability, by the end of his class you will become a better writer by following his simple steps to writing a collegiate paper.

I took Online class, participating is a must, he cares about what your opinion is, no matter if it is wrong or right. 3 major essays, from 700-1000 words, if they meet his requirements, you will be fine. GREAT professor! You will definitely learn. I'm a strong writer. BUT, I wouldn't take him if you have a full schedule. Its A LOT of work for barely any credit! You have 3 major assignments, he makes it clear that if you fail any of those or don't do the major assignment you will fail! NO WAY to make up a failing grade in this class.

He's an awesome guy. Truly he's exceptional at what he does. His lectures sometimes swerve off topic, but always manages to keep it entertaining. Minimal homework, but its important. Not much writing and i would say his class overall was a breeze.

I am currently taking Professor LaRocca for an online ENC 1101. This class was informational and inspirational. Instead of focusing on things that I wont apply to my everyday writing, this class has taught me so much about structure and the "how to" of my future writing endeavors. I look forward to ENC 1102 and what PL will teach me along the way.

Great profesor! Hes funny and gives good feedback. He lets you leave early sometimes & gives extra credit. He doesnt baby you, he expects you to do what you have to do. And as long as you do, youll be good & hell be cool with you.

If you are not used to taking online classes but have no choice to because of this pandemic, definitely take Prof. LaRocca. He was actually the only Professor I had that took the time to upload his lectures and provide helpful feedback. If you follow his feedback, and do all the assignments, you will pass. Most importantly, trust the process.

If you can't handle harsh,well needed feedback, this professor is not for you! He actually reads word per word and tailors each response based on your work which is why it takes so long for him to grade your work. There are about 3 essays that are a big grades but much of the work is pretty easy.

As long as you do your work on time he's very easy going and funny. Also, you can sometimes bribe him with doughnuts. Great professor.

Great professor. Took this class live online and we would have quizzes to make sure we were focused during the lecture. This class required you to write essays based on techniques learned in class, and he always provided you with feedback and ways to improve. He was also easily accessible outside of class!

Not my type of professor honestly. But he makes class really hilarious and actually grades very well. He cares about your projects, although his comments might be direct. All the homework or at least most of it is related to one essay which we go shaping little by little through the semester. I loved the way he explained everything. I recommend him

Professor Larocca is a very intelligent person and gives really good feedback on the papers you write. THERE ARE NO EXTENSIONS so beware of that, and if you're not good with sarcasm and bluntness, I wouldn't recommend him. He's a tough cookie but he cares a lot about his students. Just do what you need to and you'll be fine.

Phenomenal professor. His method of teaching essay writing is a hidden gem. His videos and voice feedback are straightforward and informational. There are three major essays where you should show what you have learned from his lectures. The reading materials he selects are truly captivating. Being able to learn from him was truly an honor.

Prof. Larocca was an excellent instructor. No textbook needed, but I strongly suggest you review any supplementary reading material he gives. He's VERY honest in grading your work, it can come across as blunt but don't take it too personal. Larocca is the best professor I have ever taken. Sure he may be test heavy, but it is only after every meet to ensure you were paying attention. He also records his meets so you can go back and see. The exams were fairly easy, so long as you read the 2 readings that are due each weak. If you want to really learn take him. AI is impossible here!!

Join in on the class conversations!! You might not agree with everything he says but he does offer a unique perspective. I felt like we actually engaged in the texts rather than just reading. My only gripe is that the graded assignments are just you recapping what LaRocca said in class rather than your own thoughts and opinions.
