The Professor was available and followed up after all major assignments as well as providing clarity of each before the due dates. If you did not pass this class then you were not participating. Gives great feedback . Good course to make an A if you applied yourself!

He is a great online teacher! He gets back to the students within hours of an email. The class itself is based mostly upon common sense, but you do need the text book for the open book quizzes and studying for midterms and finals. Overall, I would take this class again if I had the chance. It was a great experience for my first online class!

Dr. M answers your questions within hours. Midterm can be tough but you have the chance to skip the final exam if you finish all the quizzes , web reports and 2 long essays on time. I did submitted everything before the due date and having 3 small children, ages 7,6&2 kind of a challenge but I did it anyway. I'll take this class again

If you have the option to take Ethics with him, do it. He laid out his entire class on the syllabus very clearly and left you the option of working on any of the semester's assignments at any point in time. There's a decent amount of work, so don't expect to slack, but it's all completely reasonable. Very responsive to feedback and questions also.

Dr. M is an excellent instructor that makes it easy to pass. He clearly lays out the expectations and opens the entire course at the beginning of the semester. Dr. M provides video's on the assignments and clearly wants his students to succeed. Be prepared to read and write several papers. I would take his class again!!

He is a great teacher. He is way more involved than other online professors of mine. He even makes videos if he sees that a class is struggling in a certain topic. It is a tough midterm, but it's downhill after that.

Dr. Manias was very clear on what is expected in this course and there was extra credit provided, along with an option of getting full credit for the final exam if all assignments were turned in by specific due date and no zeros. He was always helpful and quick to respond to any questions and able to clarify specifics for any course work.

Great professor that teaches ethics in an unethical world. Makes you think about your answer and why. This professor helped write most of the book for ethics. In terms of grading, as long as you study the stuff he tells you to study you will be ok. And I am glad that he gives the study materials unlike some other classes I have had.

This class required a medium amount of effort each week but the mid-term was extremely hard! If you finished 11 units with no missing work (Zeros) then you were exempt from the final. Good class, lots of reading, and requires you to follow directions!

Hands down: I would only ever take the online version of this class. While I did have to do an extra amount of additional learning (watching a lot of youtube) for clarity, it was so worth it. I finished the class about a month early and was exempt from taking the final because all assignments were done in a timely fashion. Great professor!

Professor Manias is AWESOME, He is a tough grader, but in the end you will see why he grades like he does. The work is super easy and quite enjoyable. If you do all you work, you will be fine.. All quizzes are open book and he gives you an opportunity to opt out of the final, giving you an automatic A! Please take him he is AMAZING!

This professor was my wake up call! In a good way! As long as you take time to care about your work then you're okay! Don't fall behind... really just don't do it. Late is considered anything after 6pm on the due date. No exceptions with him at all. Do every assignment and recieve an automatic 100% on the final! Critical thinking quizzes are tough.

Prof. Manias is a great teacher. He's not afraid to call the class out for slacking off; I wish more teachers would do this as getting a verbal kick in the rear may help. He has weekly quizzes and writing assignments that will take some time to complete, so limit that procrastination. His midterm is tough, but know the theories and you'll be fine.

Dr. M is a great professor. I took PHI1600 online during the Summer 2016 semester. Ethics is not always a fun subject, but Dr. M kept it interesting. If you do the reading and write the papers, you will get a good grade.

His passion for his field is reflected in the careful, specific criteria of writing assignments. Read, read again, complete quizzes and submit assignments on time, (in short, do the work) and an A can be yours.

The application on Kant was very difficult for me, so make sure if you don't understand something, e-mail him BEFORE submitting your assignment, as he is there to help! Great balance of usage of time and homework due the syllabus stayed the same no changes and near the end he opened all home work so you could finish early and concentrate on in other classes if needed

Awesome teacher, easy grader. He can tell if you're not really understanding the chapter. I had a few issues with Act Utilitarianism and Kant method and he explained to me what I was doing wrong and how I could fix my mistakes. Make sure to do all assignments on time and you could easily test out of your Final.

I learned a lot in this class and he made it fun and easy to do. Make sure you keep up with the reading of the chapters because he calls on you during class to answer questions from the reading which is a big grade! Overall I enjoyed the class and having him as a teacher.

Who better to teach the class, than one of the authors of the book? Since there is quite a bit of writing to do, it was a relief to find that Dr. Manias is not an arbitrary, emotional or lazy grader. It is very easy for professors to grade written papers arbitrarily, which isn't possible with multiple choice tests. He is fair. I recommend him

Professor Manias has been by far my favorite teacher at SPC. He gives great lectures based on reality and not focused on pushing his own political/personal views in class. Wouldn't suggest taking during the summer semester. Had 6 assignments due the same week the midterm was due. However, he was always available for assistance and he really seemed to care that his students did well. Everything is out of his textbook and all of his quizzes/final (online class) are open note-open book.

This professor gives a quiz each week, usually with a paper that maybe due in regards to the chapter . Midterm is proctor . AS long as you stay on track and turn in your assignments on time. You do not have to take the final so that is an easy A.

I took my course online. You must complete the assignments, no late grades accepted. It's not hard if you follow assignment schedule due dates, get the book, and just do the work! He also will open the second half of the class after mid-terms to complete the rest of the assignments. This helped me out so much!

This was a great class and great teacher! He is extremely funny, making class interesting, but he also focuses on the actual purpose of an ethics class-not to memorize ethical terms for some exam but actually to consider different sides of moral questions. Research Methods sounds intimidating. I immediately thought I was going to do horrible in this class. I was challenged to think more and Dr. Manis created an environment where everyone could learn. He made sure you understood was being taught and provided extra time to complete projects that were a little more challenging. Don't give up!

This was my first online class. I was nervous, but Professor Manias was excellent and quick with feedback. My online class was tough because it was a summer class, meaning that all the work was completed in only a short 8 weeks. You have to work for it, but the class is doable and set up for success. Dr Manias is a very well spoken and written professor, I was first a little intimidated but after diving in I found it very workable if you just stay on top of things.

Professor Manias sets clear expectations and lays out all of the assignments at the beginning of the semester so you are able to work at your own pace. If you goof up on an assignment, expect a fair grade, but also expect that he is approachable and honest with feedback. The course is engaging on its own.

I wanted to take an elective class at the same time that Research and Methods II was being held. I asked him what we can do, and he let me do the course as an independent study.

I didn't particularly enjoy this class as a subject, but Dr. Manias is a very fair professor if you do your part. Assignments have to be submitted by the cut off date, or not at all. Gives feedback. Good turnaround on grading assignments. Don't expect to do nothing and still get a good grade. I'd take another class with Dr. Manias again.

Professor Manias has an interesting class, there is a fair amount of writing but personally I enjoy that. There is about one essay per module but I think that's probably common place. He gives really encouraging feed back if you follow the instructions and give thought out responses. Also responds to emails quickly. Highly recommend.

Took him for both research methods PPA requirements. GREAT INSTRUCTOR. Knows his stuff. You'll need to put in work to get an A, but its all manageable. Choose group projects wisely.

If you read what you're suppose to and do your homework and papers, this will be an easy class. Put effort into your papers because he appreciates it. I loved the subject and the class and if I did have him as a teacher again; I would be thrilled.

The best PPA program instructor at SPC. Take his research class, preferably blended. I have taken PUP 3043 and PUP 3046. There were not mentioned in the course codes.

Dr. M.'s online class was very well organized, and easy to follow. There were a lot of assignments during the 8 week summer course, but the assignments were fun, and Dr. M was very fair and provided great feedback. Just make sure you complete everything prior to the deadline, do the extra credit, and it should be an easy A. Thank you, Dr. M!

by far, one of the best professor I've ever had!

This class is 3 assignments due every sunday. a quiz, discussion & drop box. Very easy as long as you make sure you turn in everything before every sunday because no late work is accepted. There are no essays or major papers due but the book is 100 percent necessary to do assignments. Easy grade. Easy for express.

Dr. Manias is an extremely fair instructor. His assignments, quizzes and exams are all very straightforward. He is pretty funny which helps some of the longer lectures be less painful. Workload is rather light and he gives quick feedback.

I took ethics with Professor Manias and I'm so happy I did, I started the year rough because I thought I didn't need the book, trust me you do. The quizzes are all based on the chapters in the book and your final is an open book test and goes in chronological order of each chapter so it makes it super easy. His assignments were easy and he is great

Professor Manias was a great professor and provided accurate and timely feedback. Any issues I had, he would respond that day or the next. There is a ton of writing and you have to read and actually try to comprehend the material in order to pass the quizzes and writing assignments. I would recommend.

Fantastic teacher. He relied on his personal experience in the research field and he always used real life examples to reinforce his teaching. Homework and quizzes prepared us very well for everything else such as projects and the final exam. His class is blended I wish it was fully in class. He is one of the best teachers for Public Policy!

Look, if you haven't heard about how great he is, either you're living under a rock or you're new in town. And I'm happy to report that the rumors are true. He's the bees-knees. The bomb dot com. Literally my only complaint is that there's only one of him. The class was a little (very) overcrowded because of the demand, but the man made it work!

Dr. Manias's course takes you through the fundamentals of research, breaking down every step and method used to conduct thorough research, especially as it relates to public policy; however, applicable to every form. If you make it to every class you are excused from the final. Cares more about you getting it than anything. Do the work, get an A.

Dr. Manias truly cares if you understand the material. He is available if you have questions. He makes the class environment and learning the material enjoyable. Attendance and participation in his class are an important part of your grade. I would definitely choose him as a professor again in the future.

Great class that made me think outside the box.

Dr. M is great. Made the best of a crowded class. Scary at first, actually really nice. In good hands, a clear expert of the material he teaches. I hear he's the "bees knees". I hope to be like him when I grow up.

Let me put it this way: if every community college professor was like Prof. Manias, then the results of Prof. Manias' thesis about the effectiveness of community college programs would probably have shown something more encouraging.

This class is easy. Definitely take the blended version if you want to have a relief class for other classes. Many assignments but all are short and in the book and have no time limit. the class was also not boring and he is actually funny. The only grade that might take away points is the group pres. so definitely sit next to engaged people.

It's a super easy class as long as you show up and participate. I recommend taking the blended course with him its very easy. The quizzes are easy, untimed, and all answers are in the textbook. The assignments we did were simple nothing to crazy and the days we had face-to-face he was always helpful and hilarious. He contacts every week by email.

I took professor Manias for ethics1600. He was the best professor I had all semester . I actually hate that I took him blended because I only got to see him once a week and really looked forward to his class. He made learning fun, easy, clear, and simple. His lectures were never boring and his homework was super easy. Gave good/honest feedback.

This has been one of the best structured classes I have ever taken online. As long as you do your work, put some actual effort into it you will do well. I would highly recommend this professor if taking online courses.

Mr Manias is one of the best instructors i have encountered. He really gives the college a great name. He is very hands on and the knowledge that he has allows him to move his class forward with a thorough understanding of the information being presented. I did well in this class, took it online and had no issues. Do the work and you will do well.

He is a very cool and mostly understanding professor but if you miss any class you will have a hard time with the rest of the semester. I had gotten very sick and missed 2 meetings and my grade dropped from an A to an F and it's impossible to come back up past a D. Besides that if you go to every class and do all assignments you can skip the final.

The key to an online class is the organization of the instructor. I've taken some online classes and Dr. Manias is one of the best I've had in that respect. It was an 8-week class so being organized was more important than usual. He responded to questions quickly, cleared up issues when they did arise, graded fairly, and gave great feedback.

This is my second time taking Ethics so I was a bit nervous but Dr. Manias was amazing! As long as you read the material and do the work, there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A!

Professor Manias is awesome. Clear grading and very quick to grade and respond to emails. Read syllabus carefully, extra credit or final exam options are stated and don't want to miss that info! Be prepared to read, but it was an online class so that is a given. Assignments are explained thoroughly and his feedback helps with midterm and final!

Easily one of the best online classes I've taken. Very reasonable and quick grader, if there is an issue he provides feedback with great detail, quick replies if you need to get a hold of him, and doesn't drown you in work. As long as you read the provided text and do the assignments as instructed there will be no issues in this course.

A huge portion of your grade is based on the midterm which has 2 questions. If you don't do well on the midterm, you will have no chance to get an A in the class. Other than that, the professor is excellent. He gives great feedback and is accessible through email any time. I would highly recommend this professor as he is fair and promotes success.

Everything is in the book. The book is not hard to read. Quizzes are from the book. Papers or discussion topics per week but easy. Overall, a pretty easy class if you put forth a little effort. I would recommend this class.

In Professor Manias class as long as you do the work you will pass the class. Yes you have to read from an online text book it will help with some quizzes and test. Not too many quizzes to worry about. Responds quickly to emails and as long as you communicate with him he tries to help and work with you with any questions and concerns you may have.

Great teaching skills

This professor syllabus clearly explain of what is expected of you. Quiz and discussions are pretty easily. The quizzes are open book so its pretty easily. If you submit in your assignments on time you get to skip the final. Very good professor.

I was not aware that ethics required so much critical thinking but I am glad it does. I was taught in nursing school that we must learn critical thinking but never in as much depth as I've learned in this course. Ethics taught me how to apply critical thinking methods to solve difficult problems. Kudos to Professor Manias.

Dr. Manias is an AMAZING professor who is caring, fun, and inspirational. Every in-class assignment that we had was interactive and explained the course information so well. He was very forgiving and had helped and communicated with me very well. He was definitely the best professor I have EVER had! He should definitely be a 5/5! Would take again!

Overall good teacher. My only negative is this class should be an easy A, there are a handful of assignments where the expectation isn't clear and you can follow the example exactly and he will still fail that assignment but overall I can complain about a B. He lets you work ahead so you can actually go in and knock out the course pretty quick.

This class has become my favorite class that I've taken in the Public Policy Program. Professor Manias was superb and I actually looked forward to class each Monday and the conversations we had in class. This course is honestly really good. I feel like it opened my eyes more. I would recommend this class and definitely this teacher. He is very thorough with explaining topics in the lectures and gives clear instructions for assignments. He is also very understanding and will help make sure you get all your assignments in on time.

I just had to read and answer questions for most of the school work, there was other work as well, but most of the work was easy. He usually is open minded in class, although sometimes he makes his moral opinions known. He also doesn't really sugar coat things.

Dr. Manias was very specific about what was expected to be done in each module. He gives great feedback on your essays and reports. This class was easy as long as your read the directions for each module. Dr. Manias also offered a chance to get extra credit in his class which is awesome.

This was one of the best classes I have ever taken at SPC. Prof Manias goes above and beyond to communicate with the class to give feedback and to touch bases. I enjoyed every moment of the class, though there is quite a bit of writing.

I took this class online, and for the most part, I was able to finish with an A quite easily. If you read the instructions carefully and adhere to the deadlines, you'll do just fine in this course. Dr. Manias is a reasonable grader, without being too strict or lenient. The only assignment with puzzling criteria was the ethical issues dropbox.

He has a book that is online. There is alot of reading but its all open book. The quizzes are nothing more than 10 questions. I would take this class again online. Papers were relatively easy.

This class was pretty easy. I took it online and we had a small quiz and a Smart book chapter every week. We only had one group project at the end which wasn't hard. If you show up for class everyday, participate and complete all HW assignments, he will give you an A on the exam and you wont have to take it. I would recommend this Ethics class.

Professor is super light on homework but will call on you in class. Other than that he's a super fun teacher and if your present everyday you don't have to take his final.

Dr. Manias class was interesting. While you had a bit of work, every assignment had value. There was no busy work. He was very accessible and helpful. I enjoyed this class and would take him again.

Dr Manias is very fair and makes the coursework relatable. You will write a lot in this class but the information is easily understood and often really interesting. You will have to pull your weight or you will not do well. Answers emails immediately and gives you your best chance at success. I would take him again if I had the chance.

If you do all required work and turn it in on time you will get excused from the final exam but he will still give you 100% on the final exam. Assignments not easy but this is college not high school. Expectations and feedback are clear. Gives plenty of feedback - if you pay attention to the feedback you will have no trouble passing this class.

The work itself was not hard , as long as you do the readings and participate in class you'll be fine . Not a lot of test and the professor is cool.

Dr. M is truly one of the best professors I have had the pleasure of being taught by. Although he grades with feedback, he truly wants his students to do their best. Extremely passionate about information and even lets you not take the final if you complete all work. Dr. M thank you very much for all of you help! Happy to almost graduate soon!

Dr. M is awesome. He truly cares about all his students and is really good at teaching ethics. His grading is super lenient. However, participation is mandatory and he does mark absences, as well as incorrect answers when calling on people in the class. Each chapter has a Smartbook assignment with it, can take anywhere from 15-45 minutes a week.

Prof. M has been an excellent teacher during my first year of college. Very respectful, intelligent and the type of professor that you WANT to have. He is not strictly by the book, he encourages us to engage with one another and share our viewpoints and opinions.

Dr. Manias is amazing. Research Methods 2 was not an easy class at all and I was taking my Capstone in the same semester, but Dr. M was flexible with us and not a tough grader at all, which I truly appreciate. We had the option of working in groups for a project. I would recommend him 100000000%

Manias is a cool professor but make sure you do the homework so that you know the material, he loves to call on people in class and participation is apart of your grade. He requires that cameras are on and he expects that you know the material.

Dr. Manias has his class set up to almost completely exclude essays, which is an absolute delight compared to an essay every week. Many of the classes are group activities, with a large group project at the end. If you don't do the online assignment you won't pass, they're pretty much there in place of essays.

Professor Manias was awesome. Gives MANY extra credit opportunities (definitely take advantage of them) and possibly allows exemption from final exam if all assignments from semester were completed. Plus he crafted his own textbook which is actually very well-written and interesting. If you are looking for a great ethics professor, look no more.

It is my personal position that Dr. Manias does what he can to assist all students. He does not go out of his way to make the class difficult. I believe the structure of the class, which is to provide a foundation was achieved after both Research Methods I & II were completed.

I really enjoyed his class. He is a pretty funny teacher and he makes this class very relevant to our daily lives. You can work ahead in his class and not have to worry about HW for a few weeks since it's all available at the start of the course. He actually cares about his students too.All the HWs are completion grades :)

One of the easiest and most straightforward courses available. There should be no excuse not to receive an A if you do the required weekly readings and show up to class.

Great professor! Easy class, no essays - just show up to class and do the homework which you have about a week to finish (online). Group presentation at the end. Need an understandable ethics class? This is the one. There are no tests besides midterm and final. If you attend all classes you don't have to take the final exam.

A fine Professor, his assignments can take time to complete but are usually easy to work through.

Dr. Manias is a good teacher. He is direct and gives you a good outline of what is expected. Depending on your background you may find it hard or easy. I found the class straight forward and easy to navigate. There is approx. 4-5 papers, a PowerPoint, and a presentation with this class. You can do it as a group project.

He is completely upfront with the expectations and just asks that you meet them. He is amazing at teaching, giving relevant examples to ensure we understand. Took him for my Spring Semester at SPC (Tarpon Campus) and he was amazing. Very personable, his lectures are actually interesting and he levels with all of his students. I'd recommend taking his class if possible, he is the GOAT.

I took applied ethics with professor Manias in spring semester of 2024 and had no issues. The class was online and very well organized. There are 2-3 assignment a week that are set up in a similar manner that's simple to use. Overall would definitely recommend this class.

Class was hard at times but over all relatively easy as long as you understand what he wants done for the assignment. Instructions are clear. Textbook is needed for all assignments.

Probably the easiest course I have ever taken. Submit your assignments on time and you basically ace the course. It's honestly harder to fail then to pass. Easy recommendation if you need to take ethics.

This was a super easy and fun class! I took the 8-week online course, which was super fast, so about 3-4 assignments a week, but they did not take long and were easy. I recommend taking this class if you want to learn and have a teacher who cares!

Professionalism at its finest. This was my only course so far that wasn't politically biased when the topic came up. I learned multiple points of view and enjoyed learning and even learned about myself!

The best introduction to college i can imagine

Loved this professor for his funny and really interesting lectures. We would read like two chapters over the weekend and then discuss in class. Professor Manias always had personal stories that had to do with the topic discussed and when faced with controversial topics, he was able to show reason for both sides.

Professor Manias was by far one of my favorite professors yet, his class was always entertaining and it was so easy to maintain an A. his assignments and tests were very easy if you actually read the text book, which is required for assignments anyhow.

I took Professor Manias' class online, and it was an excellent experience. He is one of the rare professors who will actually interact with the material you submit and either leave constructive comments or interact with your topic, not just "good job". His assignment may be "typing" or textbook-heavy by some accounts, but they're unique and fun.
