Mr. Miller is a cool teacher. He makes lectures interesting and easy to relate to. I reccommend him to all soc majors. He nice and a total hottie. He's a Matt Damon replica...I know..ooh!
This guy is horrible you might as well not show up to class because all he does lecture straight from the book. And how often can you say YOU KNOW in one lecture.
Nice professor. Very helpful. He gives students extra credit chances. Easy on grading exams and paper. Focus on students' general understanding of the course rather than memorizing names and theories. A very good intro to sociology prof.
Too easy. if you can't ace his class, you're toast
Miller rocked my world. He completely changed my outlook on race and ethnicity, social injustice, and discrimination in our f***ed up country. My eyes are now open. Best class ever- it will blow your mind.
he's really nice and is pretty easy on grading. the bulk of the grading on tests is the essay questions which aren't hard at all if you pay attention and have an opinion. doing the discussion questions(2 short ones you make up yourself) every week he gives is important. it basically gives you a big chance of getting an A. I did. very cool
This guy is cool& real nice. He's pretty young, making him more understanding of college students.his style is a little open ended and kinda unorganized but he makes up for it with interesting discussions and fairly easy work requirements. recommended
Great guy...Really enjoys the subject.
he's alright. he is personable, but when it comes to lecture i just dread it. its basically the same stuff from the book and just puts it on powerpoint -- as if that's going to help us memorize the material more if it is just regurgitated out. its as if i had bought the book on tape, but pretty personable.
He really is passionate about his class and in turn makes you aware of social issues that you normally would care about or be concerned about
I had to drop his class after 3 weeks. The material was extremely easy...the problem is that he has no control over the class. Some of my fellow students were bringing up [stupid]off topic subjects during class discussions just so that they could laugh at how little control he has. He is not in charge.
Interesting discussions about culture, and I realize I like social research too. Nice guy, useful stuff. Very helpful. I'm going to major in soc...
I Really enjoyed his class because he really wanted to know what the students think about the situation. He really wants to involve his students to try to understand the social problems but also to go out and see it, by volunteering. As long as you are on top of the assignments, very easy to get a good grade. I liked going to class everytime.
amazing. wonderful personality, passionate about his subject, hot, and hilarious. what more can you ask?
Nick is FREAK'N AWESOME!! This was such a SWEET class!! He rides a bike to school so you know he takes it off of some SWEET JUMPS! Anyways, the class discussions are interesting. The work load isnt that bad but requires more reading than usual. 4 mini papers of 1pg in length and 2 research papers are assigned. The final is an in class presentation
STUDENTS DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, AND PICK ANOTHER PROFESSOR! YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. PLEASE TELL OTHERS!!!!!!! (GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GOALS AND DREAMS).
Professor Miller is amazing. He is genuine, honest, helpful, and super nice. He challenges you to think beyond what you think you know-- and you will think after you take his class long after it is finished. I don't know who that person is below but they totally suck-- CHOOSE MILLER> PASS THE WORD.
Nich is a great teacher. Willing to listen and available for questions. Be prepared to share your thoughts in class. Young and in touch. I learned a great deal about the concepts of Soc from his class, and that's the point, right!
Very smart teacher who really enjoys the topic, teaching it and having fun with it. When students get off topic and start telling life stories, he tries to control it but isn't usually very successful, so after leaving that class, it can feel a little pointless. The class does make you think a lot though. A lot of the grade is participation
Very nice professor..he totally knows his stuff. I enjoyed his class a lot this semester...I recommend everyone that needs a critical thinking class to take him.
Nick is like a friend rather than a teacher. He's young and energetic and very passionate about sociology. He's involved in the school and encourages us to do the same. He's a very personable and understanding.
He's an awful teacher. My first college class, and he didn't offer a very warm welcome. I would recommend that you do not take his class. He's good looking, but soo boring and lectures every class period about stuff that no one cares about. Pick another teacher!!
this class was horrible! BORING!tries to be funny but miserably fails.forgot to turn in one essay n went from a B to a D.He FAILED me n I was there everyday!!!Dont take him seriously, he's still very young so he plays by every rule..came fresh from grad school.ughh
He's crazy energenic and passionate about sociology. Finals and midterms are take home. The lectures are basically about the reading that we were SUPPOSE to read prior to the class. I'd say it's an easy class because I haven't touched the book beyond the first week of the semester. It's a chill class. No right or wrong answers, all opinions.
He is passionate about teaching and helpful if you have questions.
Nick is freakin awesome. He loves his work and tries to get others involved. He barely gives any homework, it's mostly reading assignments and it's not even that much anyways. He also adds humor to his lectures, I'd definitely have to say he is one of the coolest teachers I've had at SCC
I love sociology, but this professor made the topic so dry! I dreaded going to class. There's no enjoyment in readings or discussions. Also, very unclear with assignments and essay prompts. He's a sweet guy who has good intentions, but he turned me off to an otherwise very interesting field. Disappointing.
He's a pretty cool guy. Very contemporary with his thinking - esp about marriage. Two big papers, we didn't have enough time for the second one but he grades fairly so it's ok. Reading assignments due every day, blog due every week. A lot of busy work but it's manageable. You don't need the book right away. He gets cranky but is still really cool.
Ok, i cant believe student complain about dumb stuff. He is a wonderful teacher. His lectures are very coherent and his assignments are extemely interesting.I learned so much from his classs. He is a wonderful wonderful teacher. I recommend him to everyone. I am going to take as many classes as i can with him. He has great views, enjoed every class.
He's a great techer!
He is great. Class discussions dont help, off topic but his lectures are clear. Take home midterm and final and two papers. Other smaller assigments. Enjoyable teacher and class... dont take the class if you dont want to hear the reality of life! Hes nice to look at too :)
He's ok. He has grown on my over the semester. I've grown to like him. He's super nice, one of the nicest you'll find. And very passionate about sociology. I don't think he expects enough from his students though. It's kind of a skate class and that bothered me a little. I want to earn my grade and I want others to too.
He's an awful teacher. Very liberal and sometimes boring! He likes to criticize others who think different or more conservative than he. Nothing interesting to offer in this class that you already know. Do yourself a favor and choose another class, or if you must take Sociology 300 pick another teacher!
Awful teacher! I definitely DO NOT recommend him. This class was not a intro class it's more of an intro to hell. I dreaded going to class. He turned me about from sociology. CHOOSE ANOTHER TEACHER!!!
I took him this semester for an online Sociology class and I really liked him.He was helpful and he answered questions that I emailed to him in a timely manner. We only needed to respond to 1-2 people's posts on the dicussion board which made the process of reading all the posts go much faster.I would take him again.
Anyone who says anything negitive about Nick is WRONG! He is the sweetest teacher and really loves what he is talking about. He cares for his students and will work with you if you need extra help. TONS of extra credit assingments. There really no excuse to fail this class. He is awesome. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
He is an amazing professor! I highly recommend his class. If you do not do well, then you have not been paying attention. I thoroughly enjoyed his class, discussions and assignments! A very nice guy!
Great professor all around. While he is not necessarily shy about his liberal mindset, he does his best to remain impartial. He gives out very thorough, concise midterm and final reviews (the only two tests in the class). He gives weekly reading quizes but I never read and I got an A. He encourages thought and academic discussion.
Possibly the best teacher I ever had. I actually enjoyed doing the homework and looked forward to going to class. Easy A as long as you pay attention and do the homework.I highly recommend this class!
he really is a great guy/teacher. You learn a lot from his class!
I was a little dubious about taking a online class, and although it was a an obligation every week, im really glad i took this course. This guy taught numerous classes throughout the semester not only at city but at the university of phoenix as well and still had time to answer any questions i had. Took his 321 class at the same time, enjoyed it to
He's really passionate about what he teaches. The lectures can be boring sometimes, especially when nobody participates, but all the information you need for the tests are in his powerpoints and he takes questions directly off of his online quizzes, he lets you use a cheat sheet!
I RECOMMEND Nick to any one wanting to take Soc300. Its easy to pass his class as long as you do your Activity Binder, quiz, and exam. Participation is easy because he's really open minded and funny. Activity Binders are 60% of your grade and its fun to do. I BS it the day before and score 285/300!
Very interesting class, don't really have to show up, but he takes off points for absences. Class is easy, online quizzes with 2 attempts, midterm and final you are given a study guide and utilize the 3x5 note card!!! Have to write a total of 8 papers on almost any topic throughout the semester and keep them in a binder.
Before coming to Nicks class I had no understanding of sociology this class is about life the GOOD the BAD AND THE UGLY.He teaches with lots of energy and very full of knowledge.I would highly recommend his class. Oh and if you're not to good with computers you will be after you complete this class. :)
DO NOT TAKE HIM!ACTIVITY BINDERS SUCKS! I WAS THERE EVERYDAY STILL RECEIVING B- I WORKED SO HARD AND STILL GOT THAT?!?!?!YOU CAN ONLY TAKE HIS QUIZ ONE TIME AND THAT THEY ARE SO MINOR DETAILS THAT YOU WOULDNT EVEN BOTHER READING OR KNOWING LIKE HE WANTS TOO KNOW CERTAIN AMOUNT OF POP ULATION SOME PLACE AND THE NUMBER WAS 6% I had too skim throough!
He's a very nice teacher. I didn't attend class for almost half the semester. I had an A until he gave us an attendance grade out of 100 points. I finished the class with a C because of that only. Got A's on midterm and big project- but attendance killed my grade even though I knew the material well :(
Miller is awesome! Took him online, you have to show for the tests (only two) and an orientation, but that's it. He's very helpful and the class is well-structured. He gives good feedback on D2L, too. Make sure you don't miss the easy points on the discussion boards because they add up real quick.
He's a great professor. The quizzes are online and super easy (almost half of the questions are bolded terms from your book that are all at the end of the chapter. The exams are pretty easy too. He gives you a study guide with exactly what will be on the exam. .The activity is 35% of your grade but it's so easy to BS. Easy A if you show up!
Online quizzes for every chapter and is rather fun.
In general an easy class. He is funny and does use a lot of foul language so if he have virgin ears do not take his class. He is an awesome teacher though.
I took his Into to Sociology class and it was awesome! He was very informed and enjoyed teaching the subject. I recommend him, highly! If you put the work in and attend class, he's definitely an easy A.
Professor Miller is one of the coolest dudes around! Very laid back and just awesome. I was not fond of the material as it felt like a whole book on how the "white" man is just bad and external forces are to blame for every race that suffers setbacks? Really?? What happened to just people being lazy and actually living the image they portray?
Fun class, learned a lot, and can't wait to take another one of his classes. You do have a project that takes some time, but is a lot of fun. The weekly quizzes helped to reinforce what we were learning in class.
A cool teacher. Liked the class. It was pretty easy. Just do homework and participate in discussions.
Cool Professor. However, he is a picky grader. While I believe sociology should be a class to stretch ideas in topics being learned in lectures, he limits you & gives you a bad grade. How is it so many others think I did a good job with my ideas, yet he still doesn't think so!? Instead of helping, he pushes you away.
Awesome teacher....smart funny and really loves what he teaches...also really attractive and pretty buff. Which makes me wanna come to class everyday ;)
Gave a mid term during Spring break - didn't matter if you were out of town for the break. Still had to take the test that 1 day. Left the class hanging for more than 3 weeks of 8 week course. Didn't hear from him, nothing graded. Not a good experience.
He's a cutie patootie, which absolutely helps any class. Lectures are long (once a week class). Online chapter reading quiz weekly. 2 attempts and keeps the highest grade. STUDY FOR MIDTERM! Review the past tests. Textbook is a must. He enjoys relating lectures to politics or using political examples.
NO EXTRA CREDIT AT FIRST I WAS SCARED TO TAKE HIM AND I WAS STRESSED OUT U HAVE TO BE A GOOD WRITER AND READER TO PASS THIS CLASS WITH AND A HARD A EASY B BUT IF U STUDY AND WRITE ALOT ON THE MIDTERM AND GIVE DATA AND DO POSTS AND QUIZZES EASY A . U CAN ONLY MISS 50 POINT TO GET AND A
Very handsome professor! Looks young and has such nice eyes but okay read, 2 essays (need to do some research) take notes, and you'll pass. Make sure you are willing to put time and effort in this class or you'll not do to well. Plus why wouldn't you want to go to class with a hot professor
took a Fri class so it was 3 hours long but his lectures were never boring which helped a lot. weekly quizzes, tests aren't too hard as long as you take good notes and read the book!! 2 papers which aren't too hard as long as you don't procrastinate! aha. uses some profanity lol (+ he was my first good lookin professor so i was pretty excited haha)
He's a good teacher, but he's a picky grader. He's very interested in making sure you did the reading. He does not accept your opinions as valid on tests, he wants you to cite course readings. I suppose that's because almost anyone can BS a soc class. He does not like the BS
Attend lectures and do the reading and you will be fine. This class is very concept heavy so ask questions if you don't understand something. There's only reading assignments and a few exams in this class plus the project at the end, which is a pain, but it lets you utilize what you learned into action.
Nich is an awesome teacher! I took his marriage and family class and it was so much fun! Like other sociology classes it is all based on your own ideas and the readings (Which are not that long and online). There are a few group projects, but generally they are fun and interactive.
Prof Miller is a really good teacher. I love how he gets into his lectures and he tries to spice things up and is aware when people are bored of his lectures. He's really nice and is willing to help to whoever needs it. However, his tests are pretty darn hard. But go talk to him during office hours! It shows that you care and he knows who you are!
This was a pretty easy online class to say the least. If you stay on top of your work and do not get lazy then this class would be an easy A. The quizzes are rather difficult, but there is no time limit on it so read the questions before reading the textbooks so that you can know what to look for. He is an easy grader so long as you do as he asks.
Cheap text book. Gives you midterm study guide. Works around late work (as long as it's not too late) Extra credit available Nice guy, gives good feed back and reads everyone's responses/posts.
Very tough grader. expects too much homework and reading for a eight week class. quizzes are confusing. you have to respond to 3 different people each week in the discussion board a paragraph each. test is where he grades the hardest and it is not multiple choice.
Although you actually have to do a little reading and video watching, this class was fairly easy. Honestly, I didn't read anything in its entirety and just skimmed through to find answers and such and passed with an A. Had a few technical difficulties and he helped me with it right away and I was still able to complete all my work for that week.
He is funny and cares about his students. BUT, this was one of the hardest classes I've had.
I took an online class taught by Prof. Miller over the summer. The course material was very informative, and the professor always provided thorough feedback on any discussion posts and exams submitted. The class involved a lot of reading & watching videos, though it's to be expected for an online sociology class. For a 6 week class, well paced.
Absolutely magnificent professor. If you don't pass this class, it's your fault. Lots of reading and video watching as one can expect from an online class. Discussion post every other week, but thoughtful replies every week, which can assess your understanding of material. His feedbacks are on point. Do take him!
This guy is cool. He's super simple, I took him for a fast track online course and as long as you do the discussion posts and take the one quiz per unit - you're set. I got a B out this class, I would take him again for sure
Mr. Miller is the bomb. I loved his on line class, just discussions and replies. If you don't pass this class blame yourself. As long as you do the work every other week before midnight you will receive an A. You will regret it, if you don't take this class. Be smart take this class. Thank me later with the thumbs up !
The class was very interesting but had a lot of reading and videos to watch. The class would be easy if you are not a full-time student. A lot of work expected from him and you have to do the reading in order to pass the quizzes. Midterm and final are somewhat challenging, make sure you do the study guide but it is very extensive.
If you want a funny professor who knows how to educate with jokes. PROF NICH IS THE ONE FOR YOU. he is a funny dude without a doubt. but personally took a hybrid class so we saw eachother once a week. we had our Hw due and he graded and given some feedback. Last project was simple. also make friends in the class. you dont want to miss this class.
If you like to learn from him showing you videos that combined are longer than hour and 20 minutes. this is supposed to be online version of the real one. so have fun watching 4 hours of videos that you get quizzed on. im sure since this is a online class we would have not been doing most of this stuff because it is honestly just work to do.
Professor Nich is awesome! Nich is extremely understanding and genuinely cares about his students. I would 100% take him again. As long as you do the course journals and complete the UDB's on time and correctly you will get a good score. You get what you put into the course.
Nich is awesome! I took a summer class and didn't know it was short. Still, great course. Then I took his practicum course too, still a great course. Conclusion: Nich is a great professor. He cares and is extremely passionate about his work and it shows. Highly recommended.
Professor Miller is a wonder teacher, but by far the toughest grading professor I've had so far. If essay writing is not your strong suit, I would not recommend.
Professor Miller is a great professor. He assigns a lot of reading throughout the semester and be prepared to write a lot also. But I learned alot from this class and will use it to improve my life and help out my community. Great class.
I liked the material I learned, but it did feel more like an english writing class than a sociology class. So much writing.. Tough grader with strict expectations even if you take notes, he expects your notes to look a certain way, is just very picky.
I struggled a little bit in his class just because of how many essays we had to write (and the subject matter we were supposed to write about). There were a lot of good group and in-class activities, and lectures were fairly engaging.
