Mr. Bowden is great! English 111 has never been so fun and amusing. I thought I would hate 2.5 hours of English every day this summer, but there hasn't been a day that I haven't wanted to go to class with Mr. Bowden. Makes you put in the work for the grade, but is very fair and explains his reasoning very well. Highly Recommended!

Awesome class. He is a tough grader, but gives re-writes. Often goes off on tangents and then smacks himself in the head saying, "Focus, Bowden!" Hilarious. Almost made me interested in pro wrestling, if you can believe it.

Really great teacher. He's as tough as most teachers are, but he also offers re-writes, and lets people come in and talk to them about their papers during office hours.

Easy teacher. Never take a long class with him. You will learn more about his kids then his wife knows. Being late by 1 minute to a long class means a tardy. 2 tardys is an absent in his book.

I am not an English person at all but I looked forward to going to his class. It was very entertaining and actually fun. He does allow re-writes and the more you try the more you get to re-write. One of the best professors I've had!

I stepped into class with knees trembling at the thought of writing essays. The situation wasn't helped when he announced his desk as the Legion of Doom's HQ, and how he grades like a monster. Four essays later, I can't imagine taking English with another teacher. Take advantage of office hours & his feedback. **A's are earned** C's=Good paper

Instructor Bowden came to every class filled with positive energy and a commitment for our class to succeed. His guidance and teaching allowed me to pass ENG 111 after unsuccessfully taking this class 5 previous times. His in class discussions proved very helpful.

I took professor Bowden over the Summer in 2011. He is passionate about English and makes it a very fun class! He allows rewrites for papers which is unheard of but greatly appreciated! I enjoyed going to this class everyday.

Excellent teacher, makes class interesting and worthwhile. Did not overload the work but does expect assignments to be done and turned in on time. Sets class rules to keep everyone in order and only keeps students in class as long as they need to be. Does not assign busywork just to use up class time. Highly recommend this teacher.

Mr. Bowden is a wonderful instructor. He makes the class exciting. Trust me, I am not a fan of Engish. I worked hard to make a B. I recommend taken in class. I would take another class by Mr. Bowden.

Mr. Bowden really makes class enjoyable. We usually have an essay to read for homework and then we answer a few questions in class. Then we get to give our personal opinions and debate in class. The only real homework is three essays and he lets you rewrite one of them! He's kind and interesting and really makes class fun!

Hes really not that bad of a professor. He is helpful when it comes to essays and is fair when it comes to grading as long as you put EFFORT into your assignments. The only thing i didn't like about him is when we had the boring class discussions that really wasn't related to writing but it was better than busy work.

Mr. Bowden was an incredibly helpful and fair instructor, and I was most thankful that he graded solely on performance, and willingness to partake and follow instructions regardless of your personal opinions. Not many professors will do that.

Mr. Bowden is an amazing teacher. I took him for Eng 111, he does talk a lot about his family and home life but it keeps it interesting and helps connecting to us. He is pretty clear as far as what needs to be in the papers you have to write. He also let you rewrite if you completely bombed the paper. Ask him to proof read your paper first. Easy A

Mr. Bowden is an excellent English professor! He is very clear on what he expects from his essays, and spends class time effectively. I highly recommend that you take his class.

Mr. Bowden has to be one of the most passionate teacher in Wake Tech. He enjoys talking to his students and wants to make everyone's day when you come to his class. HE IS NOT A EASY A, but defiantly recommend taking his class if you have your priorities in check and want a fun English class.

Mr. Bowden is a passionate teacher. He obviously loves his job. I absolutely dread English classes, but he at least made it bearable. He loves class participation, and the class environment is much better when more students speak up. I think the grading is a little harsh, but that may be for the entire English Department. A's are tough to get.

I am foreign student and English is my second language and I still gotten an A. Mr. Bowden is really great professor gives you an opportunity to rewrite your first paper, he is very helpful and gives you feed back on your papers, helps you a lot. With a little push you can get an A, TRUST ME. I loved his classes he is in deed AWESOME.

Bowden genuinely cares about your grade, in his class, and if he sees improvement, he will be sure to reflect that in his grading. He is a good teacher, though sometimes he looks too deeply into the text we are reading and finds something abstract that none of us saw coming. He is a great teacher, just do his work and you'll be fine.

He was the most entertaining teacher in English. He was very knowledgeable about the topics discussed and gave good feedback(if requested). My first paper I automatically failed because I was a sentence short of the page requirement. He lets everyone redo ONE essay, which really helped me out. He is FUNNY!

My best lecturer this semester. Very worth it to hear his lectures. Very communicative. Understanding, helpful, and accessible outside of the classroom.

Professor Bowden is a great teacher. He is patient and willing to help .He is creative and fun in teaching .He also has very understanding personality to students .Amazing professor.

Overall great teacher. Makes each assignment very clear and helps you as much as you need. Clearly wants to see each and every student do well.

There are three main papers but he grades really hard and doesn't really explain. Like I forgot two things for my MLA paper and I got a 70 and he never explained why.

He is a very nice teacher explains everything in good detail and he even gives you two days in class for him to read over everyone's paper and gives you great feedback in person.

Down to earth professor. He teaches a lot of classes so grades don't get posted immediately, but when they do, he adds feedback to help you with future writing assignments. He assigns 400 word journals every week. He posts lots of helpful documents on blackboard for his essay assignments and will allow you to redo one at the end of the course.

Best professor ever. He's so cool and everything is so easy. I took his summer class and it was a breeze. He's always ready to answer any questions that you have and his papers are so easy! 10/10

Professor Bowden does not a great job at grading quickly so get ready to be patient! He works at another college so he is split between the two. He's an fair/easy grader JUST DO WHAT HE WANTS AND YOU'LL GET AN A. Ask him questions about the papers if you get confused and you'll be great.

Mr. Bowden is the best English teacher I have ever had. He makes class fly by between working on assignments and sharing funny stories about him and his family. He sticks to his grading criteria. As long as you do what he says, you will pass the class. He also does not mind helping you outside of class hours either. I highly recommend him.

I had Professor Bowden as a night class at Campbell University. He is a great teacher who is fair to his students and wants them to pass. All of the papers have clear instructions and he always gives good feedback on how you can improve. Make sure you read the assigned readings before class to fully understand what is going on (they are not long).

I use to not like English, but taking him was not bad at all! He made English fun and it was such a pleasure to be his student. The readings are easy and not difficult to understand. It is an easy class and not a tough grader.

Professor Bowden is a very good professor and seems like such a genuine, nice, caring man. He gives good feedback, but at times seems like he is a tough grader, and sometimes was a little hard to access over email.

Professor Bowden is an amazing teacher, I took his ENG 111 class to try and get my grade up from the first time I took it with someone else and did not do well and Professor Bowden actually got me to enjoy English for the first time since elementary school. he lets you go back over your essays for a better grade. wish he was doing ENG 112!!!

There are 3 major essays and a final exam essay required in this course. I've never considered myself a strong writer when it comes to structured writing, however, I received a B (88%) in this course and I owe that to Professor Bowden's feedback on my essay rough drafts. I found my grade increasing with each essay (80, 82, and 90).

Professor Bowden is the reason why I became inspired to stick with going to college. Amazing teacher, he really cares and takes his time. Very passionate about what he does, I would take another course with him!

The papers are kind of a lot of work but he gives really good feedback on them and his instructions on the assignments were very clear which I appreciated.

Professor Bowden is the Best Professor I have ever had at Wake tech. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He gives extra credit opportunities, feedback and tips how to improve it. I can't recommend him enough!! I Wish he gave Eng 112.

He was a little late grading some things, but most of the time gave 100's on assignments that weren't major projects. He also made sure he gave feedback on your rough drafts before your finals were due, and if he was late grading them he gave extra time to complete the final drafts.

This professor is excellent. The workload is reasonable, with two assignments per week that involve discussion and journal or essay writing. If you practice your writing skills, you can ace this class. The grading is very fair and not harsh compared to other professors. I assure you that if you put in some effort, you will pass in this class easily

Professor Bowden is a MUST HAVE!! He is so caring, funny, and considerate of his students. He may take a little time to grade, but he will give you great feedback. If you need more time on an assignment he will most likely give an extension or make some kind of a compromise.

He was an AMAZING teacher. He provided good, clear feedback on all of his assignments. He is a little late grading some things, but not as late as some of my other professors have been. He is so nice, and even at the end of the semester pushed my grade to be an A at the last minute. 100% you should take him because you'll love him!!!

Assigns super interesting readings. Not a harsh grader but doesn't give out free 100s on essays. Easy grader for discussion posts. Final is tedious but not difficult. Struggles a little with technology and is slow to answer emails, but is very nice. His farewell message was very kind. PS: DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK (you never use it)

Good professor, taught the material well and his grading was pretty lax. Your main assignments are three essays. Overall he's a good teacher that try's his best to help students pass.

Has engaging lectures and is a great storyteller, very kind overall and the class has a great atmosphere. Can be a bit slow while grading things, and I didn't like how our last and longest essay was during finals week. But overall a kind teacher that knows the material well, would definitely recommend.

As a first-year student in my first semester of college, this course had a major impact on me. I strongly encourage other students who need to take ENG 111 to enroll in Mr. Bowden's class. His kindness, encouragement, and passion for teaching make his class not only educational but also truly life-changing. I'm very grateful for the experience.

Nick was very down to earth, funny, he does talk about himself and his experiences in class a lot. Papers aren't hard (you do 3-4 of them), just make sure you put in effort. Homework once a week or every other. Not reading heavy at all aside from the first few weeks of the course. Also very forgiving and willing to work with you.

A professor that clearly cares about his students, but his lectures could be rather boring if you are not interested in the topic. He would come to class right before they start or late, often making us start class late as well.
