I really enjoyed learning from Nick, however if your looking for a class that you plan on coasting through and half-assing it then this is not the class for you. He is a great teacher though and is very liberal in speech!

A fun teacher to get along with. You're free to choose whatever topic for your speech and can use visual aids including snacks or volunteers. However, you must prepare that in advance and let the teacher know what you intend to do. Also, limit notecards to five at most for quick reference to avoid sounding like you're reading a script.

He is a good teacher and makes the class exciting. He does want to see his students succeed and is very clear for what he wants. The only thing that I was upset with is that he takes forever to grade your stuff and you sit there just waiting weeks.

Was not looking forward to taking this class, yet at the end of the semester I ended up enjoying this class the most. Not your average teaching style. Has a unique way of teaching & it works. He's considerate of his students work load and doesn't slam you with assignments, but does a handful of major assignments. You earn your grade in this class.

Online class that I would take again. You must follow direction. Can't skip any of the 3 speeches or you fail. Must have 5 people present for each speech or you fail. 2 exams: midterm and final. Exams are fairly easy if you read the chapters. No surprises in this class; Vera is very clear with instruction and expectation. Do the work A+

Nick's class is pretty grand. He tries to make sure everyone gets a chance to say their piece during group debates. His class is really good environment especially for people who don't like to speak in front of others. He's super nice and accommodating as long as you let him know what's up. Nicholas Vera, is an amazing teacher! He emails you ASAP and you understand EVERYTHING! Didn't read much out the book only on the mid term and final. I got an 80 and the mid term and an 85 on the final. His class is very interesting you learn a lot from everybody in the class too. And he seems very fair also gives extra credit.

He is probably one of the best teachers at Eastfield College. I was super nervous about speech but he made it one of my favorite classes. He is laid back but also lets you know that he is the teacher. You can do your speeches on ANYTHING! He has no limits. He cares about YOU! It's an easy A if you work for it. He wont give you any grades for free.

Professor Vera is one of the best professors at Eastfield. He is very passionate about the subject and challenges his students to push their limits. He even records speeches and sends them to you so you can see how well (or bad) you did. Lets you pick your own topic so you get to speak about topics you are interested in. Great feedback.

This class is very direct. A grading rubric is provided for every speech that needs to be followed and quite honestly it helps a lot. The grading critiques are done in front of the class but honestly they help. I have friends who have taken other professors and are not as enthused as I am to be taking this Speech.

Professor Vera's SPCH 1311 class was my first class at Eastfield. I could not have been more pleased with how Nick taught this class. He was energetic, caring, passionate, and actually made the class "sexy". Speech was a class I was dreading coming in, and he made it the best college class I've ever took. He is such an awesome professor! I was really scared at first because I hated speaking in front of a class, but the speech topics and the easy to follow outlines made it more than bearable. I really enjoyed this class and would suggest everyone to take it. This class has helped me become more comfortable and confident speaking in front of crowds.

I absolutely love Nick. I love him as a person and he is the greatest prof. of all time. I would take him again and again and again if I could. He's so smart and he's funny! Just finished taking his class. Nick is unique. He gives extra credit and multiple chances to do your speech if you don't do it the first time. However, you need to have a valuable reason to not do it the first time. Also, Nick doesn't teach base on the textbook, he will implied his personal stories so you can get the context. Super easy class.

Nick is a great professor. I took him three years ago, and i still remember a lot from his class. I had the chance to sit in on his class, and it is just like it was three years ago. He is informative, and hardly uses the book, he uses real world examples and scenarios in order to get his points across. He gives out guidelines for the speeches too

Had him for Honors Speech and WOW! I enjoyed every minute of that class. His energy is infectious and I respect that he talks about controversial topics. He made a safe environment to express yourself and connect with others that, under normal circumstances would be uncomfortable. He puts you out of your comfort zone, so be ready.

He is really good! I didnt go to class some days due to personal issues but I still passed the class . Its a very simple class, all we have to do is give out speechs and do an outline paper and THATS IT!! Very easy grade!

Helped me with my public speaking anxiety! Great person and professor overall. Gives clear criteria rubric for what is expected for each speech. There are 2 online tests based on what is learned during lecture and helps to have the book for reference(though not mandatory).

He's very inspiring and motivates his students to bring their voices out. He knows how to keep his students entertained while making sure we're doing our work. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. I Took it summer 1 and it didn't even feel like I was in the class for 2 hours. He is so engaging and really knows how to interact with his students. There are 4 speeches and aren't as dreadful as I thought they were going to be. (You can use notecards!). He always has interesting speeches and stories to tell!

Nick is great! I was very nervous about taking a speech class but Nick was kind and made the material straightforward and easy to understand. He was friendly and cares about his student's wellbeing along with their grades. I thoroughly enjoyed going to class every time. The only problem I had with the class was that it ended to soon.

Nick was by far one of my favorite professors. I took him for an 8 week course and even though it was a little up to speed he is very understanding and works a lot with you if you need the time. He is also very funny so showing up is only doing yourself a favor. I can say I learned a lot in class and he really makes it easy to say your speeches

Professor Vera was great at performing lectures. He was pretty laid back on the topics you presented during speeches, which made it interesting. There wasn't much homework besides thinking about how your going to present your speech and practicing your speech. The only downfall was that he wouldn't really respond to emails. There was extra credit.

A breeze of a class. Took it online and it was wonderful. Nick is an amazing professor. You WANT to take this class. Three speeches, two multiple-choice exams and the rest is cake. A small piece of advice- buy an online copy of the (recommended) pocketbook. You don't need to read it. Just helpful. Easy grader if you follow the guidelines.

I took professor Nick during this Coronavirus pandemic. He was a very cool professor. We only had 3 speeches 2-5 minutes and few discussion boards. He is very laid back and caring. In addition, he has a good sense of humor. He was very easy to contact and even gave him us him phone number incase we needed to know something ASAP.

I had so much come up during the pandemic and he sincerely cared and helped me through the class. He told me not to worry about the class and let me extend it through the second 8 weeks. I highly recommend Professor Nick! I took him for SPCH 1315 Introduction to Public Speaking. He was very helpful when I didn't fully understand how to start my speech and replied to my email in a timely manner. He gives great feedback on speeches so you can fell more prepared on your next speech. His course has helped in so many ways already!

He helps you feel comfortable, by asking questions, and he encourages you to speak. He uses quotes to get you to think more profoundly than you usually would. He uses YouTube. I would recommend this professor to anyone that wants to improve their confidence when speaking in any situation if it's to one person or a group of people.
