Nick is really great. I was terried knowing that I had to take this class but he ended up making it fun. Our class really connected-thanks to him- which helped so much! Nick does a lot of ice breakers to get you comfortable in your surroundings and a lot of group participation to get you comfortable with one another. He shows to care a great deal about people in general and is very understandable and laid back, but not someone you can walk all over either. Great teacher, great guy.

Nick was cool. It surprised me to know this was his first year teaching at Northlake. He gave the impression that this was not his first gig as Northlake's speech teacher. He was very accommodating to his students. I urge people to take his classes, not because he's easy on the eyes, but because he's very smart, and knows his craft very well.

I had such a fear of this class when I first startd. But Nick made it fun and easy and did a lot of things to help you feel comfortable. I also had problems with my voice during the middle of the semester and he worked with me so my grade wasnt affected. I really appreciated that. GREAT TEACHER AND THE ONE TO TAKE FOR SPEECH!!!! Best professor I have ever had!

He is an awesome professor..He is always there to back you up when you are down on your speeches. I totally destroyed one of my speeches but he encouraged me to do better on the next one.. and so I did. At Northlake there are so many unqualified professors, but he is the one I admire; he is the one out of all !

Great professor. Nick is great at taking a class that people typically despise and turns it into an active, comfortable environment. Class participation is huge with him, which keeps everyone interested. The assignments are pretty involved but he gives plenty of time/guidance for completing them. This class is definitely worth taking!

He is a really good teacher.I hate public speaking,but he made it where it was easier to talk to people.He makes you get to know your classmate.So when you go in front of the class to talk to wouldn't be bad.We have 4 speech.1 group project n 2 exam.I took him for summer and I thought I was going to hate it,but I love the it n I'm going to miss it.

Nick is a great teacher I've always hated speech class, but this one I really enjoyed He made the class interesting and worthwhile I definetly will miss the class and will come back and visit The only assignments we had to do were 4 speeches The first a personal story, the second an informative, and the last two persuasive Most definetly recommend!

I took this class online and it was awesome. Some on-line classes feel self taught but not this one. He kept in close contact and even gave video comments so you could see who you are dealing with. You will need the book for the exams.

I took Professor Nick in Summer 2,he was really nice and he made class lectures fun and interesting, i personally liked his class. You will need the book for lecture notes and test, but everything else is pretty much straightforward.This class actually helped me learn a about myself and made me more confidence in speaking in public. HIGHLY RECOMMEN

He is young and comprehensive with everyone. Not those old style boring classes. He is also clear in every explanation. The only difficult you may have if having to step in front of everyone to give your speech, but Nick will help you as much as he can to get you there (and an A).

wow! I had an online class; but would come on campus to deliver my speech!! If your busy like me an online speech class is great!! Well Nick Vera was great, he never overloaded us with work. He's very helpful and has such a wonderful personality... He would upload you tubes for his online classes to help you better understand!!! And his exams are very easy!! I absolutely loved this class! It was my MWF 8AM class, a little early but I wouldn't have changed it for the world! He turned strangers to friends and is extremely willing to help and energetic. He is very hands on and his class isn't hard if you do the work and come to class. I would recommend him to anyone. My favorite professor EVER :)

Nick was awesome (and yes, he really does INSIST you call him "Nick") He tells you EXACTLY what he's looking for through notes, examples, checklists, guidelines... he practically writes the speech for you. He does take FOREVER to grade stuff, though.

Speech was not a class I wanted to take. However, after having attended Nick's class and seeing how he is as a teacher I can see why I wasn't once the class started. This professor is very knowledgable about the subject. He has passion for what he teaches. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He can be a bit strict but its only for your own good so don't expect to get an easy A because you have to earn it, but if you pay attention and do what you're told, there shouldn't be a problem.

i took speech online he was very helpful there were 3 speech presentations required, two tests, and 5 discussions and base group assignments, i made an A in this class i emailed all of my speeches this class is an easy A if you do your work right, hes not a tough grader at all, easy going great teacher

Just know that for online, you have to perform 3 speeches. you must have 5 people watching you as you give your speech which was a little difficult to figure out. 2 exams, not hard, but not online. i bought the online textbook for like $9 or something and it really helped with the exams. i would recommend him! if you do all your work, A!
