She is THE BEST!!! I wish she had been with the school last semester so I would have passed Calculus the first time around. She is really nice and helpful. All her quizes, tests and the final come from the homework. She assigns a lot but if you do it, you will pass. She's great! Take her class!

She is very nice. I made alot of jokes during class to keep things funny, but she doesnt get off track at all and continues trucking on through to the next part of the section. She writes notes directly out of the book during class so you know that its already writen down for you when you buy the text. Tests and Hw are too easy. :)

Nicole is a nice person, she is a great teacher as well. Always willing to help. Tests are pretty easy, as long as you know the material, no multiple choice in here lol. I really love her. I'm sad that she isn't teaching the class I have to take in the summer. She is very helpful and extremely nice. I would take her for every math class if I could. The class isn't that hard if you do the work and she will work with you. She doesn't care if you show up but you might want to go because the you may get lost.

Attending class isnt mandatory but the class is very easy as long as you pay attention and do the homeworks which are the Big 15's. She is extremely helpful if you have any questions and wont mind spending any time to help you with your doubts. Also she gives out extra credits on random days so be sure not to be absent!

omg i loved her class really good teacher she explains everything to a "t" no quizzes and online homework but it was only 15 questions per section she also go's over what you need to know for the test which i only like 6-8 questions long which is kinda the problem because they are worth more. i really recommend this class

The book isn't necessarily, If you think you need the book its in MyMath lab anyway. She teaches straight from the book and her notes are easy to understand and follow. I like the class, but personally I hate all the online homework. You really have to pay attention and study a lot to do go on the test. The teacher is really good and helpful if you can find a way to see her in her limited hours. I ended up spending a lot of time in the math lab tutor center.

I agree with the person below. She can be helpful, but doesn't have enough office hours, so you have to be lucky to get her help, and it seems like she always has other professors in her office, so it makes it seem like she is too busy talking to them to help you.

I went to go get help from her during her office hours but she was having lunch with another professor, So i didnt want to be rude and interrupt, I wish she wouldnt have other professors in her office hours because it makes it seem like shes too busy socializing to care abt her students.

Mrs. Shorter is an EXCELLENT Professor for those who think Math is another Language. She takes her time when teaching and really cares about ur success in learning and understanding math. If you are one that thinks math is EASY as pie, I do not recommend this professor as her teaching style is for those who don't understand math. She is Excellent!

But sometimes I wish while we were doing those she'd help the students that don't get it cus there are always those students that just sit there bc they're lost, she should help them when they just sit there looking lost. Great teacher! Cut and dry test homework and policies. But you're only grades are Tests, Test Corrections, and HW, with no Extra Credit. Test arent too long and similar to the HW. Sometimes she gets caught up trying to make things TOO simple, but she makes the info understandable. Sometimes she can get short with the students, but usually helpful!

I took the class over a 6 week span with Professor Shorter. She did an excellent job keeping everyone up with the fast pace and encouraged questions. You could miss up to 4 days (which is reasonable because that was a whole week of class). book is not needed nor required. Test is very similar to hw, no curveballs. I suck at math and got an A

Before I took Shorter I thought I was terrible at math and now I'm SUPER CONFIDENT IN IT!!!! I took Shorter for Intermediate AND College Algebra because she is so fantastic at explaining each of the concepts. She even briefly reviews topics as refreshers just in case you have forgotten so the new stuff is easier to understand. Definitely reccomend

Shes always there to help all of her students but her lectures are so long. She starts the exact minute the class starts and ends at the exact time. During the whole semester my class never got out early and every minute of her time is used to do some sort of math. Be prepared for the long boring lectures, and the hard online work.

She teaches well but she's a little tough on grading. Very inflexible too so don't expect her to open a quiz for you if you missed it. The lectures seemed very long and tedious at times.

Prof. Shorter, now Prof. Segarra (recently married) is amazing! I'm currently taking her for Int. Alg. Summer C, which is quicker pace, but it doesn't feel like it. Her lectures are long, but extremely useful. She's always willing to help you understand. Just keep up with HW (it's a lot) and you should be fine! I'm taking her again for fall! :)
