So far he's great. He is a relatively new prof so he hasn't been tainted by a long career of teaching. Very engaging and interesting, marks fairly and his grading scheme is great. Somehow he made Business Ethics my second favourite course this semester.

Fair prof who puts interactive learning first. Classes consist of discussions and case studies using real life examples rather than just rants like many management professors at Saint Mary's. Definitely didn't mind attending this class. Attendance is beneficial as he gives hints to what will be on tests.

Overall amazing prof. Such a nice and genuine teacher. Loves what he teaches and makes the class very enjoyable and interactive. Would highly recommend him!

Great professor, makes the classroom fun, uses interactive discussions. Attendance done in the form of group questions that you pass in at the end of class, easy points. Clear explanation of topics. Marking is somewhat hard on quizzes and midterm. Textbook was only needed for in class activities. I would highly recommend taking a class with Nick.

Nice guy, he's young & has a lot of energy. You can tell he puts a lot of effort into his lectures. In-class group activities were a mess & seemed like a waste of time, but he gave participation points for it. Doesn't respond to all emails & seems like he plays favourites. Group project was never talked about throughout the term & he marked hard.

He is a great Prof. He is younger and understands the importance of being a student at our age. He brings in a great deal of care into his classes for both how he presents them and how he cares about the students success. He also gives participation marks as a way to get you to come to class.

Professor Deal is a great prof! His lectures are carried out with the use of humour, are engaging and reflective of current real world issues so it makes it easy to attend. He treats individual students with respect and is very clear on what is expected for quizzes and tests. Be sure to attend class as he may just drop a hint or two!

No midterm, no final. only quizzes. 1 group project. Thinks because he was an A+ student everyone else is too. Quizzes require memorization and understanding of materials. Relating slides to the textbook for better understanding as he talks fast and don't always have time to write everything down. also his pants are like an inch short. bugged me

Probably the best professor I've come across so far. I'm in my last year and his teaching style really impresses me. No midterms, no finals. Only quizzes and group projects. Involves students in discussions - solo and in teams. Very energetic and awesome all around.

Nick is a great lecturer, very energetic, tells jokes, and each class starts with a discussion about current world issues which is nice. He seems to genuinely care about student success. The one issue with Nick is that his testing doesn't seem to make sense for a 3rd year ethics class, it's mostly just memorizing theories, and minimal application.

Nick is one of the best profs I've ever had. He makes a boring class like ethics so enjoyable and worth going to. His multiple choice questions are tough but read the chapter and look over the important things he outlines in class and you'll be good for the quizzes.

Nick is super enthusiastic & engaging! He's removed the pressure of heavily weighted exams and instead has 6 in-class quizzes, 1 group presentation and in-class case studies that set you up to do well. I'm not normally one to participate much in class discussions but I didn't shut up this semester because the class was so interesting!

He is such a rare gem and likes to keep his students participate in activities. If you feel shy talking in front of the crowd, then this is your best chance to come out of your comfort zone, just attend his classes. His exams are pretty easy, also gives a review before any test, also helps you choose the presentation topic.

Literally the best prof

The only prof I've ever had that understands that students have a life/other classes outside of what he is teaching. This is my second class I've done with him, neither class has had a final exam but I feel like I've learned more in both of these classes than any other. Huge emphasis on continuous learning rather than memorizing for a final exam.

Nick is the best professor in SMU. He explain ethical theory briefly and clearly, which make you easy to get it! Nice and patient, giving effective advice for our presentations.

Probably one of my favorite classes - no exams, just a couple of tests and a fair amount of group work. For the tests he always reviews a bit beforehand so you know what to expect.

He was one of the best professors I've had. Attendance wasnt mandatory but you get points for being there but also hints to potential test questions. There wasnt a final just a presentation but no paper to go with it. He was super funny and will definitely try to take a class with him again! He is also a fair marker with clear outlines for tests!

My favourite prof I've had a SMU. Makes the lectures really entertaining and wants you to do well. Make sure you take with friends if possible because there is a group project and a lot of group activities. I got thrown into a random group and got a worse mark than I would have liked. Other than that easily the best class I've taken at SMU.

Really great professor. He was a student himself not long ago so he really tries to relate to the students. The work is reasonable and there is no final, just a couple of tests. The final group project includes a presentation which he marks fairly hard so it needs to be perfect. Very entertaining and you can tell he loves what he does. Recommend.

Nic is a true gem of a prof. As someone who is passionate about news & politics, I especially loved that he took time out of each lecture to talk about what is going on in the world. He gives great reviews for the tests & outlines what he will ask you, our group project was fun& once again he gave clear grading criteria. 10/10 would recommend him.

Dr. D is one of the greatest profs I've ever had. When he talks you know he cares about what he is saying. He wants everyone to do good. He gives clear expectations for group work and projects. He does a review of he short and long answers for tests, very helpful. I found is MC on tests hard but i also didn't read the textbook. Highly recommended

All the ratings are true about him being a great prof and caring etc.. However, he takes long to return grades and he doesnt give tests back. He grades a bit hard too. I felt the grading scale couldve been a bit lighter and the group project shouldve been graded easier because of the pandemic and not being able to actually meet with our group.

Nicholous Deal, has been by far my favorite professor so far! He is very impressive with his studies, and his enthusiasm for the subject is refreshing- In fact, during this course I actually switched my major because he made it seem so wonderful. He is also very accessible whenever you need him!

Professor Deal is one of the best professors I've had at SMU. He is very caring towards his students. He had 5 online quizzes and as long as you have the textbook and review the slides you will do really well. There is quite a bit of group work involved, but overall it wasn't that bad.

Professor Nick is a fantastic instructor and one of the best instructor's that SMU ever has. This was recognized by him winning the Professor of the Year award at SMU for the past 3 years. He made topics on Wage and Salary Administration engaging, easy to understand, and enjoyable. He should be compensated whatever he wants. You won't regret it.
