worst english-speaking professor. his lectures are fine, but he does nothing to help you learn the material. his exams are impossible and do not accurately gauge your comprehension of the material

Horrible teacher.Stay as far away from him as you can. He teaches at his own pace and leaves you behind and confused. Quizzes are pretty easy but the tests will surprise you. He is weird and wears the same thing everyday. Eww.

He's very uninterested in mathematics (which he explicitly makes clear) and would rather waste his time with video games or a yo-yo. If you enjoy math then stay away from this guy! You will learn nothing from him.

Worst math professor i have ever had!! i love math & The concepts in this class would not be hard if he just taught them!! all he does is write on the board. no interactions with the class. and has no enthusiasm. and like someone said before.. be prepared to see him wear the same thing everyday. i would avoid never take a class with him again

Terrible teacher

Boring, Boring, Boring. Math XL are not due until the end of the semester. Homework due every wednesday. 3 Exams. 3/4 (out of 100 ppl) of the student goes to class for the first 5 min then leave. Just get the hw at the begining then turn them in on Wed. Learn everything myself and passed. All he does is goes over the even numbers in the textbook.

Fiala is one of the worst professors I've ever had at any school. Have no idea how he passed school and got hired anywhere, much less a college. Can't understand anything he talks about and if you ask him about it he likes to yell at you in front of the whole class.

One of the most weirdest professors ever. He wears the same thing everyday. He mumbles to himself and tends to do math problems to himself. When you ask him, he either say you know it or you don't. Other times he'll say that he doesn't understand your questions and tends to yell when answering your questions. I failed his class.Overall, 2/5 rating.

This professor is one of the worst I have ever had for math. He does not curve like the other teacher do and if you try to ask a question he makes you seem like a idiot instead of answering you. And yes he wears the same thing every class time. Math xl is a must and how you will understand the material.

This professor is an absolute joke. Wears the same stuff everyday. Will make you feel like a retard for asking a simple question. I suck at math and he did not help that with his lack of enthusiasm. I logged over 65 hours on math XL and it counts for about 10 percent of the overall class grade, it was a BULLSH!T class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Worst professor at SCSU, doesn't help you find the answer to the question, he doesn't teach you in class he just does problems on the board, wears the same stuff to class everyday and his tests have NOTHING to do with the homework or MathXL, DO NOT TAKE HIM! He only has 600 points on the class(200 for hw, 100 for test 1, 100 for test 2, 200 for the final) , so if you dont do well on the tests ur pretty much S.O.L. He doesnt explain anything he just does the problems. IF YOU NEVER HAVE TO SEE THIS TEACHER EVER YOU'RE LUCKY. i feel like he has made the whole math department look like a bunch of idiots

This professor is not good at all. He writes problems on the board for 30 minutes. He doesnt TEACH anything. He also doesnt use D2L or email. He makes you feel like you are stupid when you try to ask questions in class. Avoid taking him at all costs!!

I am in shock that this professor is qualified to teach. He honestly doesn't care about teaching and is very unprofessional about it. He doesn't show us how to work out math problems, he simply writes the HW on the board and writes the answer. I'm very frustrated with this class. Worst class i've ever taken and worst professor i've ever had. He talks to the board and I extremely rude. He doesn't teach, he just expects you to know it. No review at all for tests and they are impossible. On test you need the right answer and a lot of work backing the answer otherwise you get a zero. No partial credit, no curving, no anything.

I have had some horrible professors, and Fiala takes the cake. If you can read a math textbook, you'll be golden and get an A+. On the other hand, if you struggle with the homework I suggest dropping the class asap because he doesn't even know where to send you for help (meaning he has no idea there's a tutoring service for math 271 in ISELF).

Literally the worst professor I've ever had. Walks into class and just begins lecturing. Talks to the board so sit up front if you want to try to be able to hear him. Doesn't explain anything, just expects you to understand. Assigns a lot of homework that he NEVER checks or goes over. NEVER checks his email so don't try to get ahold of him.

Very bad professor. Mumbles to the chalkboard the whole time during lectures and is very hard to understand. Does not do any teaching just mumbling and writing on the board often times not making any eye contact with the class. One of the worst professors that I have ever had. Comes into class and basically reads from the book and does problems from the book for the entire class. Mumbles and talks to himself. He does not care about his class and acts like it is a huge annoyance to him. Don't ask questions because he will look at you weird and give you a complicated answer

Quite possible the most frustrating professor I have ever come across. He acts like the class is a big pain and is late frequently. He mumbles through classes, doesn't interact with students and he just expects you to already know everything so doesn't even try to help. YouTube videos were a bigger help in understanding concepts than him. TERRIBLE

DO NOT TAKE!! I dropped this class the first week & this is why. He doesn't explain AT ALL what he is doing on the board, he just mumbles to himself and writes down the answer. He is crabby all the time and yells at anyone who asks a question. ABSOLUTELY NO CALCULATORS ALLOWED. TONS of homework, it will take you hours. He was always late to class.

The class is mostly lecture based, but he just stares at the board the entire time. He hates questions and often raises his voice when students ask questions he doesn't like. He does give practice problems which are basically a requirement to pass the class. The only grades are exams which he grades very harshly. Take this class with somebody else.

Uninspired and unimpressed doesn't begin to describe him as a professor. None of his stuff is online, he doesn't respond to emails, and his office our are very limited. My best advice to to take the class is to take this class with someone else and if you are forced to take it with him go to the other professors for help.

I like to think I'm pretty good at math but then I took a class with this guy. The class average was a D if that. He shows up late most of the time, nearly impossible to contact outside of class, and when you ask him a question in person he tells you to figure it out. He also stands in front of the classroom which is decently sized and mumbles.

IF YOU CAN TAKE THIS CLASS WITH A PROFESSOR WHO COPIES PROBELMS FROM THE BOOK AND WRITE THEM DOWN ON THE BOARD WITH NO EXPLANATION... THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU. DONT EXPECT TO GET ANSWER WHEN YOU EMAIL HIM.

This professor is horrible at explaining and working through problems. He teaches as if he expects that you already know the concepts and the process. The entire class time you're just sitting there watching him mumble and solve problems. If you can avoid taking any class from this professor, I highly advise you do.

This professor is so bad at teaching. He does 5 exams in total for the semester and all homeworks are on mymathlab. I showed up less than 5 times for class because he always solves problems wrongly. I wrote an answer in a different form as what MML wanted and he said my answer was wrong. I had to expand it for him to see. Take it w/ another prof.

The worst and most uncaring professor I have ever taken. Emails students he is sick 10 minutes before a 9 am class. Like a ton of other reviews say, all he does is read the number of a problem from the textbook and solves them. He will go through only addressing the problem by the number with little to no explanation. Please find an alternative

Do not take this class with this professor if you struggle with math. All he does is stare directly into the textbook and mumble to himself while copying the equations/answers from the textbook onto a piece of paper. Any questions you ask will be answered with something along the lines of "figure it out" or something that doesn't help you at all.

this professor does not care if his students succeed or not. make sure you see his lectures, they are under links in the material section. he does not give feedbacks. there are no retakes and no extra credit so make sure you do good on exams. start early and talk to other class mates. he does not post grades, and asks you to calculate on your own.

Was an online class for algebra and the lectures were very confusing. ended up just teaching myself most lessons, because the lectures were old zoom meetings from previous classes. Did not learn much. Also rarely responds to emails. Grades are not updated until very end of the semester.

Probably the worst professor I have ever had. This is the second time I took him, and still have not one thing I can say I actually learned. Grades are determined by tests, which are 90% definitions, which are all you do during lecture is define things with no explanation of the definitions. Not helpful, gets upset at any questions, etc. 0/10.

The lecture videos are super hard to understand and follow so THANK GOODNESS for the "explanation" and "view an example" buttons on Pearson because without them I would've failed. I reached out with questions several times over the semester and he never got back to me once. I'm just glad this class is over with!

This has to be the worst professor I have ever had. All he does during lectures is read questions from the textbook and then write them on a piece of paper for the class to copy. He doesn't help when you reach out & questions are answered with "It's in the textbook". Don't take a class with this professor, you will be teaching yourself everything.

If you take this class, there is no need to show up. He will tell you the same thing. For my class most of the people went for the first week and realized it was pointless. You are way better off using an online calculator, or finding your own way of learning the material. There is a lot of assignments, with lots of questions, but it was doable.

Doesn't teach, relies on Pearson. TONS of homework. Over 100 GRADED homework problems a week. The only good thing he did was give us 3 chances on every test. Learned minimal because I had to fly through the concepts just to be able to complete the homework. He has snarky responses and seems annoyed at any question clarifying directions.

I dont even know what to say about this guy he is so incredibly unmotivated I have never received a bad grade in a math class until now. All he does is give a definition for one word from the chapter and solve a few problems under his breath, and call it a day theres genuinely no point in going to class he doesnt teach. Take this class with anyone

If you can learn from just a piece of paper having complex and confusing definitions written on them then take this class, otherwise get a different professor, everything I've learned for this class was through youtube, and he only grades tests, not the homework he assigns, but you need to do the ungraded homework in order to pass the tests.

No emotion when he is teaching and doesn't care if you understand the topic almost like he doesn't even want to teach the class.

This course was disorganized, expectations were unclear, and grading felt inconsistent and difficult to understand. Communication and feedback were not helpful when I tried to improve. Despite putting in real effort, I felt like I was being evaluated against vague or shifting standards. I would not recommend this professor ever.
