Overall, this class was actually pretty cool. I hate science classes, and I never do well. But, I left the class with an actual understanding of the material. The labs were really easy, but the practicals were impossible. And the tests weren't too easy either. But, he makes himself available to help you, and he's great to look at!

Nick Hacket's class was so much fun! Our lab group had a blast in his class! Yes, the tests are hard - if you don't study! This is a college level class so you do have to put work into it, and if you do you will do ok! He's also the hottest teacher I've ever had which helped me pay attention in class!!

Prof. Hackett is an incredibly nice guy. He will help you as much as you need if you seek it out. Hackett has a straight forward approach telling you what he knows the best he can. He relates some topics to cats at times and that is what makes him unique! All in all a great professor to be taught by in both basic bio and microbiology!! =O)

Cool guy, nice instructor, funny. People complain that he's mean cuz he takes points off but it's b/c ur required to follow directions which are step-by-step n everything counts for points. Keep ur table/area clean n u'll be ok. Not brain surgery guys!!! I also took him for 111 n he was fun. Uses notes n book for tests which are kinda hard n long.

Good teacher, very intelligent. Don't be afraid to ask for help. He teaches to college students and treats everyone like an adult, he expects his students to act like them. Do the work and don't be lazy... He will mark you down if you copy your labs word for word. If you want to learn about biology take him, if you don't take someone else.

His slide shows tend to have some humor and he will always answer your questions, even if it takes him a while to notice that a hand is raised. You can tell that he is passionate in the subject he is teaching. His class tends to be a little out of control and his tests are EXTREMELY hard, but he is always willing to help you.

Mr Hackett was a pretty cool teacher. His lectures were good and he made sure he explained everything to me even though I called him to my table about 15 times!! The tests are pretty hard and if you don't look over your notes everyday you will fail!! The practicals were pretty easy and so were the labs. He's kinda corny LOL but he's a great teacher

He is funny and helpful in BIO 111. He is very easy to talk to and understanding. for BIO 119 his work load is way More then other BIO119 teachers. I had fun in both classes though and as long as you do the study guides and read you can get an A in his classes. He expects you to take charge of your learning, which i liked.Do the work, you get A!

Mr. Hackett was a really funny, laid back guy. You almost always get out of class early. You take notes and do one lab every class and when you're done you are free to leave. The book is not necessary, although you need the code that comes w/ a CD in the book to access bioflix which he makes you watch for credit. DO THE OBJECTIVES!!!!!

Do the objectives and study from them...definately use the book when you do it because his notes are not good! otherwise exams and labs are all the same no matter what teacher you take.

Extremely fun class. Take notes for like 30-40 minutes which are on handouts. Then do a pretty easy lab. They're graded pretty fairly. Can do an objectives handout for extra credit every unit. Tests are tough. You need to read the book and look at the notes. He explains things to you if you ask. Real fun and had a great time. Got an A!

Many of you agree that the teacher is a nice guy, but what does that tell me about him as a teacher? This teacher is a kind person, there is no question about it, however he sets extremely high standards for the class making it nearly impossible to pass. He will mark off points for tardiness, absences, neatness and will grade you on the edges of

your labs!! I spent many hours studying the material and did well on the labs, homework, and tests. But it was still difficult to maintain an A due to his bizarre grading policies. He will critique every inch of your lab that you turn in. I wouldn't be surprised if he marked off points for spilt coffee on the bottom edge of the sheet.

Boring! If you have an early morning class, get there before anyone else, and bring a pillow, some blankets, an air mattress, and an alarm clock. Wear your pajamas. At first, I thought this teacher does not like me and is compulsive but then his structure and flow and his consistency is great. His tests are hard even with all of the notes and he does not curve anything. It's non-stop work in his class. He is very organized and not bad to look at either.

I wonder why he is teaching at a community college, his class was much harder than any science class I have taken at a university. This class is absolutely worth the hard work.

Hackett is a tough teacher but, I found him to be very helpful when I asked, even in the lab. He expects you to read and study. His lecture is a quick summary of what is in the text. Labs are not bad. Most of the answers are in the lab book.

He likes to crack little jokes during class, but regardless of who you take for micro you're going to be responsible for putting work in. He gives the best notes! He explains it all very well and cracks jokes in his class! Silence freaks him out. He has all his notes up on blackboard for us to access before even getting them in class. Oh and he also gives study guides which if you do he gives you extra credit for them couple of points, but they accumulate over time & can really help.

Pretty solid Bio teacher. Humorous throughout every lecture, but goes through then really quickly. All of the studying will have to be on your own. Tests are pretty lengthy but if you study it should be straightforward. Lets you out early almost everyday

Lectures are interesting and hilarious. Never got bored in his class. Labs are super super easy. Exams can be challenging, though. Take the time to study and you should be fine. Mr. Hackett is my favorite biology teacher at MVCC. Yeah, he will definitely make you work for an A, but is always very clear when it comes to what to expect on exams and homework. Plus, I could look at him ALL day long.

I had Mr. Hackett for my microbiology class, and he was a great professor! His exams were tough, but if you study and pay attention in class, you'll do just fine. The lab portion is interesting, and his lectures can be funny at times. He's always there to help you if you need it. Not bad looking either ;)

-The homework is you have to write an essays, they will be 4 or 5 in total throughout the semester. -DO some of the lab questions before the day of the class because even if you are late by five minutes, they will be considered late. -After you take any test, I suggest you to review your answers because sometimes scantron makes mistakes.

hes a great teacher. his tests are very hard! he tells you some material is on the exam and its not. other times hell say somethings not on the test. so study everything. give 30 points extra credit and one online quiz. you don't need the book, but the lab book is required. hint to lab book buy it copy everything and return your book.

Micro is already a pretty tough class, but this guy really knows what he is talking about, just do the study guides and show up to class and you will pass. Yes, he's a tough grader, but he tells you exactly what he's looking for. He knows what he's talking about and if you listen, he sometimes gives you the answers. The lab reports are a bit tricky but only because they're not what you're used to. He is very funny if you have an older sense of humor.

Im going to be completely honest microbiology was one of the hardest classes Ive ever taken. Professor Hackett is a good professor but his lectures barely touch whats going to be on the test. He offers a decent amount of extra credit and for the most part you have to teach yourself. The lab reports saved my grade!!!

Took this class as a microbio requirement for pharmacy school after completing a B.S. in MCB from UIUC. Hackett is a good teacher. The class isn't difficult. The comments are cancerous, yet typical for MVCC students; too hard, too much work, etc. Before one exam he asked if we knew what a gene is... Yeah, if you aren't retarded, you'll be fine.

Its hard to personally like him but he treats the class like a college course and wont spoon feed you. His lectures are brief and the attendance policy is strict. Hes a stickler for rules and policies so read the syllabus. I didnt and my final grade almost dropped to a C from a B because of silly mistakes. Dont forget to sign the attendance

I took this class over the summer, 8 weeks in total, an exam every Tuesday and yet I was able to receive an A... homework? Theres 6 homework assignments which are super easy. Theres around 30 points of extra credit. The labs are pretty easy so I honestly dont understand how he doesnt have 5.0 rating. Best professor hands down, you have to study

Great Professor, but grades very critically. Tests are specific and incredibly hard to study for, but he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Do every assignment and extra credit point possible and you should be okay.

Nice guy but he gives Lots of tests. Must do the optional study guide objectives for the tests cuz his lectures do not cover nearly half of the information on the exam. Also, do the optional knowledge checks for each chapter cuz those questions are on the exam.

He was an alright teacher. Study from the slides and you should be good. Don't mess up on the lab reports. 3 points extra credit per unit(6). Final is 5 points extra credit. Great teacher slideshows are short. Took this class in the summer and he was very nice and would let us out early, helpful when you ask questions I don't usually write reviews for teachers, but when I read the reviews before taking this class, I got discouraged. But he is amazing

A little dry but very meticulous with his lectures, give you enough material to fill the lecture portion, you will do the labs alone but he will be there for any questions//setup well rounded on points if you put in good work on lab reports you will get a good grade. I emailed him at the end of the semester asking to bump up my grade and said he was already planning on it. his tests and lecture and low-key hard and heavy but it is microbiology. just do you work show and you'll pass. his lab quiz's are open note and finals optional. he lets the class to decide how to do things also

im actually surprised at the low rating he has because I don't think any other microbio professor could top him. people need to realize that microbio isn't an easy A and requires a lot of studying and focus. professor Hackett is always doing his best to help in any way he can and make the class enjoyable. material is tough but he rly does help out.

I cant give professor Hackett enough kudos. His lectures are super easy to follow and the labs are fun and easy. As long as youre engaged and participate, you'll pass. The biggest thing that helped was that he posts his lectures on canvas to study. If you have an opportunity to take him, do it!

Genuinely one of the best and easiest prof I've taken. Show up to the lectures bc he explains everything SO EASY AND WELL. He's a good professor, microbio isn't going to be easy, but compared to other teachers (not all but the one I've had before) he was much better. His tests are easy to understand, he gives a study guide, and reads slides but also explains them good

Professor Hackett was by far one of the best teachers I have had at Moriane. He is super organized and relays everything perfectly! His pre-recorded lectures over the slides are accessible in the modules, and I found those to be extremely helpful. If you like organization and smarts, take him! Also, his sweater collection is very impressive!

Hackett is a great professor in my opinion. He was very knowledgeable and knew great extents of microbio. Taught everything that was on the exam, didn't add any unnecessary information at all. Just do the work, study the slides!!!!! Everything on the slides were on the exam.
