What a nice guy! I really enjoyed going to this class. This prof is laid back and has a warm personality. Very approachable. Try to get good grades on the midterms - they're easy and they'll boost your grade, which will likely go down a bit on the final. This course was pretty painless. I would take him again.
One of the best teacher at concordia. I would take him again if i can. He is fun, and know his material. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Doesn't give you slides; makes you write fast and listen to him at the same time; talks EXTREMELY fast, which is really annoying. Seems easy and fun but the course is not that easy, actually. Less silly stories and more emphasis on what is on the exams would be more appreciated.
Why can't he ever slow down? The class is full with people whose mother tongue is not English. Jokes around all the time - then on the tests you discover that he didn't properly cover the material, as he spent way too much time entertaining the class.
BAD, REALLY BAD!!!
All the points mentioned below are so true! Run from him!!!!
Avoid! 100% poor professor, he doesn't even care we are not students in law. The subject is interesting but he kills all the joy of learning the law. Try to get anyone but him.
He's a great teacher! I don't know why everyone else says otherwise, but he makes the calss fun, even when the topic can be a little bit of a drag! He's humble and does his best to make it interesting and as clear as possible. Thanks to him, I want to become a lawyer!
Doesn't know how to explain class material really bad teacher if u see his name on ur schedule dont even bother... just drop the course.
Good teacher. Had him before at Dawson, took him again and very helpful. Don't know what the others are complaining about, probably got bad grades. He is always willing to answer questions and help. Talks a little fast though. Hang in there Big Papa!!!
DROP IT! The most horrible business law prof. Totally agree with everything written below. Get into another section!
Good class. Uses real life examples to make material understood. Has clear slides. MCQ tests hard, but prepare you for the final. Just wish he would give slides.
Cool teacher. Knows his stuff and makes law interesting. I will take him again if I can.
Great course and good teacher. Don't listen to the complainers. Take him if you can.
Great teacher! I definitely recommend him to anyone who's taking business law! Very entertaining prof, makes the class fun and interesting! The class itself is not hard if you take good notes and study well for the midterms.
Lousy jokes all the time - really tiring. Doesn't teach properly. Very subjective in his exams (mcq that can have several answers). Enroll into another section if you can.
Awesome teacher. Keep up the good work.
Very good teacher !!!you need to attend all the classes and take very good notes because he doesn't give his power points!!
Funny, helpful and covers the material very thouroly. Go to class and take notes. Doesn't give slides but covers all the cases very well.
One of the best I have had as a teacher.
Good teacher. Interesting course, but not easy.
Got an amazing grade. Attend class and ask him questions. Vey helpful for final which was tricky.
One of the best teacher at JMSB. He make you participate and he is very clear for any subject. You can ask easily all the question you want. The only thing is that you must attend all his class because the power point are not given and if you miss you have to figure it out by yourself.
This is not an easy topic but very interesting and he makes it fun. Has real life examples, even if a bit corny sometimes. I agree with the previous posting. He is very helpful and also willing to give you free legal advice.
This is Company Law and I liked it and understood it. Awsome prof. Just doesn't give slides. Wish he would. Talks a little fast, but takes time during the slides. Too bad he only teaches this amd Comm 315.
Fun teacher and full of energy, but please post slides. Will make it easier to follow and participate in class.
Excellent teacher. Has a lot of energy, gives real world examples. Does not post slides and talks a bit fast, but he is really willing to help students. If you attend class, his class notes are all you need to succeed. Really approachable and knowledgeable about his subject. One of the best teachers I've had, take him if you can!
Nick is the best teacher i've got so far at JMSB, he is always available for his students, explains boring class materials by giving us funny real life examples. Best teacher!!very recommended!! i got an a+, there are 2 midterms (25% each) and final worths 50%. midterms are easy just attend all his classes! I never rly liked law until i met Nick!!
This was my only class I enjoyed going to and learned things I can use in my life.
Very lively and knowledgeable. Gave slides and was very funny. Links real life experiences to theory and makes it easy to understand. Will take him again. Keep up the great work.
Awesome teacher. Keep up the good work Mr. P.
Really awesome teacher, only class that makes me feel like attending. He makes company law an interesting subject to learn. Very dynamic. Best teacher in JMSB so far, will retake him in another class if possible.
Teacher is cool. He's funny and engaging and a pretty nice guy. Class itself is relatively easy, just makes sure to take good notes and to thoroughly understand the laws. You can bring the law book into the exams. I didn't attend class much, and I think that really makes the difference in a class like this. Laws boring so having real examples helps
Awesome teacher. His stories are the best and you never feel bored during class. Wish I had more teachers like him.
Very fair. Very good teacher. Take him.
Nick is the best. I want to take him again for another class. Funny and fair, but not easy. If you don't understand something go see him.
Very human and kind. Clear communicator. Class was hard, but you can get a good grade by being thorough and studying properly. Open book exams.
One of the BEST teachers I have taken at Concordia University. His class is extremely interesting and I actually don't mind reading the book(I usually hate it). He is really funny and nice! You don't NEED to come to class (doesn't take attendance) but he gives great lectures so why not. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER 100%!! TAKE
Best professor ever! Multiple choice exams! Easy Final. Do your reading and you'll be fine.
Nick's a great teacher, you need to do the readings to do well in his class. 3 exams all multiple choice (2x25% and final 50%) the first one is easy, but they get harder. Approachable if your having difficulty. In order to pass this class though, it is necessary to read the court cases, because many questions are related to them.
The professor knows his stuff, intriguing class, would take again.
Biggest mistake was that I bought the book for this class. He is a great guy, but speeds up his lectures and does not tell you what will be on the exams exactly. Tests get harder and more tricky and specific as they go along. Group project was a breeze and on that, he is easy going. He knows his stuff because he is a lawyer himself.
Great guy who wants to help students. No need for a text book so you need to show up to class. Exams test you on exactly what was talked about. Tries to make things interesting with jokes and stories. Good teacher!
Nick actually makes the class worthwhile. This is the first class I've paid attention in for a long time. He's very interesting and engaging - but doesn't force you to engage.
This teacher is truly amazing ! He made class so interesting by relating it to everyday life events. On top of that, he's absolutely hilarious! Plus he is one of the writers of the book so he really knows his stuff!
Funny and knowledgeable professor. Makes coming to class worthwhile.
Nick is actually-really a remarkable professor, would MEGA recommend taking-- KNOWS his material by heart; literally a talking textbook. Very brilliant and educational. PARTICIPATE, he will always be happy to answer relevant questions! (i.e., even you ask a lot:). He is also a law expert--just like Harvey Specter, and it's thus helpful for IR!
Sympathetic guy, tells a lot of stories, but sometimes class gets very boring, list of things to learn by heart for the tests. No final in this course, a short group project. He looks like a caring person at first, but as the year goes by, you realize he might not be as nice as he looked the first class.
Nick is extremely funny, makes the material easy to understand by telling memorable anecdotes and examples. I enjoyed every lecture!
Great teacher Makes the class interesting, very approachable and there for you if you have any questions For his midterms, make you are know the material and really the questions carefully but they were really fair
He is the best prof ever. He explains everything really well! His midterms are super fair and he doesn't throw any curveballs in them. Make sure you study his notes well. For the final, Frank Crooks writes it but I still found it fair! Easy class to get a good grade in! Distribution in Papas class was amazing (40% of class got a- and more)
Had him for MANA 366. His tests are fair. Cases are a bit tricky but pay attention in class and take good notes. Barely opened the book.
Such a good professor!!! First of all, he's hilarious. Also, he makes the business law so interesting and makes you want to go to class. To get a good grade you need to put the work into it, but he makes it so interesting that you actually want to do the work for it. Would definitely take again!
Really good and funny teacher. If you study the material you will do well. His tests and exams are non cumulative so you never have to much to study at once. he really likes those situation problems, so know your cases and the notes. go to every class because you have to fill in the notes! would definitely take again
I thought he was hilarious. It was a class of like a hundred people, but it felt cozier than that. You fill in the notes in class. His tests are very fair. Made business law interesting, fun, and relevant. 11/10 would recommend and I'm not even a business student.
Nick is a great guy and you'll love his lectures. The textbook is very helpful for understanding the material. The only downside was the hard multiple choice in the second midterm and final, the questions are quite ambiguous and most are trick questions- even if you knew all of the TONS of material you're required to remember for them.
One of the best teachers at Concordia. Made business law interesting with relevant real life stories/experiences. It was a very open and friendly class, with discussions encouraged (class of over 100 people). Minimal reading required if you attend class, as he covers all of the test material in his slides in class. I would 100% recommend.
Always a fun time attending his classes. Many hilarious and memorable examples. To really know the material, read the book. Final is common, so be prepared for stuff on the final that he may not cover or he may briefly cover in his class. The final is open book but still need to study. Overall, great class, very interesting.
Probably the best teacher l've had at Concordia. His lectures are super interesting and he always has a real life experience to go with the material. Makes going to class worth it ! I've learned things I'll actually need to know/use. The textbook was written by him - easy to follow and chapters aren't long or complex. Would take him again for sure!
Probably the best teacher Ive had at Concordia. Attendance isnt mandatory but he makes you want to go to class. Highly recommend taking his class!
He inspired my first ratemyprofessor rating . Really great teacher. His exams are fair, straight up and looks for keywords. Extremely understanding and laidback. Jmsb needs more teachers like this.
One of the best profs I've ever had in JMSB! He's hilarious and turns a dull subject into an interesting one. If I could, I would take him for all the courses he teaches! What he says in class is quite important so don't unnecessarily skip.
Nick is one of the best teachers I've had at JMSB. Class is super interesting, he makes everything super clear, and tests are very clear and simple. 10/10 recommend this teacher to anyone, I wish I could take him again. If you have the chance to take him, DO IT!!
He is hilarious and his lectures are amazing, also very caring and friendly!
one of the best teachers for this course.
Hands down the best prof at Concordia. He's just perfect in every sense of the word, very approachable tests, amazing lectures, hilarious, and the list goes on. Take him and see for yourself!
He is hilarious! If you are stressed in life - take his class and you will feel much better. The class was the easiest I have ever taken - know the slides (by heart!) and do not miss ANY point while answering midterm questions. Material from the book outside lectures is not mentioned. Gives a good explanation, very clear - TAKE HIM!
This prof was genuinely a refreshing change from the regular online classes. We did not have live lectures on Zoom and instead he pre-recorded all his lectures with very detailed PowerPoints so we could complete the curriculum on our own time. The quality of lectures and information was splendid as he's very knowledgeable. Great professor overall!
One of the best professors at JMSB! He makes the lectures go quickly and makes them enjoyable despite very dry material. Definitely don't skip his class, his lectures included information that was useful for the exam. Since there's no textbook for this class, the information and examples he gave helped a lot to get an A on his exams.
Man I really love Nick! Never thought Id enjoy going to school at 8:30pm and the good thing is he didnt hold a live class every week, but when he did he definitely makes its fun with his personal stories and jokes as he goes through material. You do need to know your stuff to do well but overall hes a solid choice.
very interesting class and great teacher. tests are fair if a bit tricky sometimes. remember the cases well.
great professor, his lectures are so fun and he wants his students to succeed. I would take him again anytime I could!
He's the best professor I've had. As long as you go to class, take notes & read the book you WILL do great on his exams. He wrote the textbook, and his lectures are a recital of the textbook but he makes it really interesting, participation is not mandatory but he encourages students to speak up. If you only read the book, you'll do fine too.
top g
Great teacher!! I took this class as an elective and it was so fun. The teacher is very funny, so entertaining and its obvious he is very passionate about what he teaches! The material is also very interesting, there is a lot of reading to do but if you come to class, do the readings in increments and takes notes you will be fine!
Somehow made business law interesting. Quite remarkable
He is amazing, his exams are tricky but study and you will be fine.
Knows his stuff also makes the lectures interesting by adding anecdotes and stories to make students understand the material more + he is funny and very approachable! Be ready to be focused in class and listen to what he says, take notes! Also, you may need to buy the textbook for the final exam lol
The best teacher at JMSB
Going to class is enough for this class. I would recommend reading the book for clarification and for the cases.
Great teacher, he's really funny! Even though he teaches what he has put on the slides, he makes it a lot more interesting with stories and simple examples which makes the class interesting. The exams I had were "true and false", read the ebook he gives and you'll be fine. A good experience overall. Dawson or Concordia, you'll love him.
He is a very funny, knowledgeable and charismatic teacher. This was my second time taking a class with him and he is very straightforward teacher. Buy the textbook and annotate, go to class and you'll do great in his class! In my opinion, he is one of the best teacher at Concordia.
AMAZING! One of the best professors I had at Concordia, his lectures are fun and interesting like the subject being taught. I did very well on his exams even though it is 2 midterm and 1 final. PICK HIM!!
This teacher was by far my favourite at Concordia. He teaches his lectures as if he's having a conversation with you in class, through stories and examples. Explains the cases thoroughly and you always walk out of his class feeling like you learned something new and valuable.Teaches using slides or pre-recorded videos. You can't go wrong with Nick!
Great teacher, gives a lot of real life experience, makes the class enjoyable and very funny. Make sure you take note of what he says because not everything from the slide will be on the exams.
Read the book and attend the lecture and you'll do well. His exams can be tricky but they're fair. I loved his lectures and he's really nice and funny. Favorite prof at concordia would take him for any class
Very good teacher and very funny ! He uses his personnal life experience to explain complicated concepts so I recommand this teacher in Business Law !
This man gave me hope. Very funny, approachable, and genuinely really nice. I don't know how one teacher can make an 8h30-11hpm class entertaining, but he does it, and well. Explains the course material very clearly, and gives real-life scenarios for us to have contextual examples. Nonetheless, he's an amazing teacher and I strongly recommend!
this guy is a king. one of the best profs i've had. he makes the 8:30-11pm classes so enjoyable and entertaining i love him. also such a great prof who just wants his students to succeed.
He is a very smart professor. He teaches the class very well and the material can be easily understood by him. He also wrote the textbook for COMM 316 so hes a great resource to have becuase the final exam is also written by him
