The class is pretty easy as long as you understand the matieral. Theres two assignments a week and no exams at all. But if you have a question, do not expect to be answered. Countless emails were sent because he will go a month almost two months with talking to no one. Also, it take him about three months to get updated grades.
I took this class online, and got an A. 2 assignments per week, but there was little to no communicating with the professor. I have never taken any eco classes, and was really intimidated, but passed with flying colors. If you aren't good with excel or graphing. TAKE THIS GUY! He post videos on how to do assignments step by step on youtube.
Late Tuesday night of the 12th week of class and it's still not open. Many weeks we don't get our work until Wednesday night and it's still due on Sunday at midnight. Nothing has been graded in over 60 days. I can't believe that the college uses tuition money to pay this guy! He has two other jobs and we are definitely low on his priority list!
I didnt think I would do well in economics because I am not good at math. This teacher made it easy to understand with his excel tutorials on you tube and his test were strait out of the book so as long as you read the chapters you pass the tests. No mid term or final and you don't need to buy the book he posts the entire book under lessons tab.
I GOT AN A!! This was a touch course for me but I passed. I guess other people had it easier. All homeworks and no exams. Took econ in highschool and this blew me away. Prof Nick was nice enough to talk me through homework assignments one time for even 2 hours. Hated the class but some topics were fun like poverty and learning to use excel.
He is an awesome professor who will show you how to do the assignments step by step using youtube. A lot of the work is making charts and graphs using an excel spread sheet but he literally shows you how to do it. He is sweet and kind and will allow you extra time on classwork if you fall behind. Also doesn't require you to buy a textbook.
PROS: assignments are usually fun; can turn in work late; YouTube videos walk through most HWs step-by-step; learn Excel and new perspectives; very neutral on economicspolitics (not a crazy leftyrighty); textbook is free CONS: no curve (too many As, IMO); grading takes a while OVERALL: As a business major, I'm going to take him for micro.
No tests. Homework assignments are shown via youtube and very clear to follow. He tells you not to buy the book since he scans the whole thing and puts it online. Allows for assignments to be late and does not penalize, just asks for them to be complete and turned in the by end of the semester. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Professor Reithmaier has made me a pro at excel. The weekly assignments are extremely time consuming, but there are NO EXAMS. He gives good feedback and also gives you a chance to correct your work and resubmit it for full credit. You also won't have to go out and buy an expensive book because he uploads one online for free. All Around Amazing!
No tests or exams! This professor had us do a weekly homework, but if you need more time just let him know. I was behind but made sure everything was turned in by the last day and still received an A. Last day to turn in homework is at the end of the semester. You don't need to buy the textbook because he provides the chapters in PDF format.
I liked how the teacher had online office hours every week. He helped me with a lot of homework questions. The Excel videos are good but sometimes he goes off on tangents. Some homeworks don't have videos so you have to do them yourselves but I just went to office hours when I got stuck. I liked the class and I got an A. I learned a lot too.
He does lag sometimes in giving assignments and grading, but no tests and the homework has clear video instructions. Very easy class with no tests to take.
No tests, just a homework assignment due every week. Expect to spend a good amount of time on the homework. Overall, I learned a lot, and it was a pretty easy course. Easy A. Textbook is provided, save your money! He is very lenient on the due dates as well. Gives you until the end to turn it all in.
Got an A! Textbook is given to you for free (OpenSTAX Macroeconomics) so don't buy it; all homeworks (no exams); most homeworks he will walk you through step-by-step how to do it; he'll teach you Excel and how to use it; he's super lenient on due dates because he wants you to learn. I'm signed up for his Microeconomics course in the spring.
Professor takes to much time to respond to your emails, but he gives extra time to send your homework... he has a lot of videos that helps to do your homework, and in most of them you just have to follow steps..
He will not respond to emails, if he does; the answer does not help and you wait a week to get a reply. No tests or quizzes, but when you ask for help on assignments (page numbers, etc.); he does not respond!! His directions are too out dated.
Overall good professor. Lots of writing and Excel work but its not to hard. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK because he gives you it for free. You can submit late work for full credit.
The class itself was very easy. He has videos with step by step instructions for the many excel assignments. He also allows full credit for late assign BUT do not expect him to reply to emails. It takes weeks to get a response. Final grades are due in two days and he still hasnt graded 4 out of 14 assignments, and wont respond to emails about this.
Pretty standard class with homework every week. Usually there short nswer or Excel calculation s (just copy the videos). He lays everything out pretty clearly so its easy if you just read the book. You can submit assignments late no problem.
I don't see why people are complaining about this professor. He made excel videos on how to do the homework with actual answers for the first 7 weeks. He uses a free textbook so you don't have to pay. He Gives you till the end of the semester to turn in work and allows re submissions for better grades.
Lets you turn in assignments late and gives you a chance to turn everything in at the end of the semester. Pay attention to how he does the Excel tutorials for seven weeks because you have to do it yourself afterwards. He was the last one to enter grades at the end of the semester when every other teacher had grades in. He also doesn't show overall grades.
Straightforward HWs and no tests. HWs are excel assignments or written. Can keep resubmitting for a better grade. I did that a few times. Not easy but not hard either.
This was the easiest class I have ever taken in college. There is eleven homework assignments for the entire semester. While they could take a bit to complete, just follow the videos that he posts and it is an easy 100%. I learned a lot about macroeconomics in the process. Prof. Nick is amazing and he wants you to succeed. Take him!
Super easy class online. There are no tests and the assignments are not too time consuming. He is very late on grading, but they come back as all A's. Plus there is no text book to buy.
Take Dr Reitmaeir! Easy class but you learn a lot thu the videos on Excel and Economics like demand and supply, money and finding data. The all grades are from homeworks only (no exams) and the textbook is provided free so you don't have to buy anything.
Provides curriculum so you do not need to purchase any books! He is understanding of outside commitments and will allow you to submit work late, without penalty, if you communicate with him as to why. Communication with instructor is reliable and he gets back to you as needed. He is slow to grade your work, so be prepared to wait for your grades.
Easiest teacher ever. He has no test or exams. Just homework. He is an easy grader. I think he just wants to see that you tried. He does most of the homework for you in his videos if you just take the time to watch them and he has no due dates on anything, just have it turned in by the end of the semester. Don't buy textbook, he will give it to you
No exams or tests, just homework. 70% of the homework is done in excel by following his tutorials on youtube the other 30% is answering questions found in the textbook that he gives you for free. He also gives you the opportunity to redo your homework if you aren't happy with the grade but he usually doesn't grade until very late in the course.
Can't go wrong with Prof Reithmaier. Textbook is free, homework is straightforward, no exams, video tutorials, and flexible due dates. I've struggled in other classes but this one was a breeze AND I learned a lot too. Best part was I could turn assignments on MY schedule so I could work ahead or take a break.
Best Professor, highly recommend him, no furthur questions!!!. A+++++ !!!!!
The Best Teacher! Do the work and you will pass! No tests or Final!
No tricks professor. He wants you to learn the material so he gives you lots of chances. He lets you resubmit work so there's NO EXCUSE NOT TO GET AN A. Just do the work. LOTS OF HW but no tests. FREE textbook too so don't buy the one in the bookstore. It's as easy as it gets!
Same as what others are saying. Easy prof but only if you do your work. All open book homework but no tests, plus you can submit late. Textbook is free. I just read it and did the work so it's not that hard. Learned Excel using his Youtube videos. Good class but he doesn't teach micro.
This is an easy class. He provides walk-through videos for 90% of the assignments. There is a lot of reading. He also lets you submit things whenever you can and that's really nice, but he never graded anything until the last week, so if you're failing you won't know until then. The homework was difficult but not impossible.
Enjoyed the course and finished early with an A. Homework is excel labs where he walks through exactly how to do it with online videos or short answer where the ansswers come strainght from the book. A few times I needed more time so I just emailed him and he didnt even ask for aa reason. Hard course but the unlimited redos make it easy.
Good teacher, just do your work. The assignments aren't hard and half of them have video tutorials anyways. Learned a lot about excel that I can use in my business major.
TAKE DR REITMAIER!!! HE KNOWS THAT STUDENTS HAVE BUSY LIVES AND NEED FLEXIBILITY. VIDEO TUTORIALS ARE HELPFUL. JUST READ THE BOOK.
very great teacher, took for summer semester. he wants all his students to pass. if you fail its your fault, he wants to help. just do the work.
Easiest college course I have ever taken. The only grades are homework and he shows you step by step how to do most of the assignments. He is also reachable by phone if you need help. Take him!
Already have an A because he lets you do assignments ahead of time. Highly recommended. Very flexible on due dates. Like others say, the videos walk you through most assignments. Some assignments you have to do yourself, but just read the chapter and write a few sentences. I learned a lot too.
Prof. Reithmaier is one of the BEST teachers I've ever had. He's really accessible to his students and wants you to succeed and pass his class. He'll do anything he can to help you achieve that. His class was structured so well and his explanations help A LOT! Do the hw and you'll be fine. Would deff take again, HIGHLY recommended! TAKE HIS CLASS!
This class was kinda a joke. All you do is click on the youtube links he provides and copy what he does on Excel. All due dates are "recommended" so you can finish them whenever and there are no tests. The homeworks do take quite a long time however. He also grades really easy and lets to turn in things again to get a better grade.
Great Professor. Took the class Fall 2017 making the course work more significant. I am taking his ECO2023 class now & same format & just as relevant to the 2018 economy so far. No tests, however, a lot of writing answering homework questions. He provides YouTube videos to assist in some math/excel homework. Do the work and you will do very well.
I feel that it was a good class. I already had the text book from the MacroEco class before , however you can use the online book that is offered for free. His explanations on the YouTube videos helped which also helped for the HW. You do have the option to turn in the HW at a later day which is good but why wait?
Good teacher. He makes the material easy to understand with youtube videos. You can turn in assignments on your own schedule. I liked the excel because its something I can use in the real world.
The course is easy and I learned a lot. He uses a free textbook. There are no exams because its all homework. The homeworks are a mix of Excel questions (which he gives videos on how to do) and short answers. The short answers are pretty straightforward if you read the chapter. The Excel was challenging at first but I'm pretty good at it now.
Just do the work and you'll get an A. He doesn't give tests, only open book homeworks. Like others said, the homeworks are just YouTube videos, Excel work, and short answer questions. The course format was good because I could he's flexible on when I could turn in work. Read the chapters and watch the videos and you'll get an A no problem.
TAKE DR. REITHMIER! It's easy to get an A in the class but I learned a lot. He taught us how to use Microsoft excel using with a free textbook. The students in the other Macroeconomics classes paid a lot of money for their books and had to use the crappy MyEconLab. They didn't even get to learn Excel that I'll use in my hospitality management work
This course was the best online course that I have ever taken. The material was engaging and I actually learned from it rather than just trying to get the grade. I learned a lot about how to use Excel more so than I did in my Microsoft course. Definitely take him!
Theres no tests but lots of homeworks, sometimes two or 3 a week for the express summer course. Excel is a huge part of the course but he walks you through mmost questions with video tutorials and lets you practice by yourself on other questions similar to the video tutorials.
Super easy class, weekly quizzes and discussions. Straight from the book. Read the chapter.
14 total grades, one intro quiz, the rest are homework assignments. You put in the effort, you get an A. Can turn everything in the last day, only deadline is the last day of class. Loved this class, learned a lot, and was super chill for the whole thing. Would definitely take again!
Just do the work to get an A. The course is all homeworks. You answer each question after watching the Youtube video or reading the book. It was easy with no tricks. He used Excel to do everything. I scared at first and he let me do my HW on paper and scan it in. I plunged in and started using his Excel videos so I know how Excel is used realworld.
Easy class, long assignments. Each assignment can take up to 4 hours but he is very easy grader.
Good instructor, easy to follow. The assignments can be long like the person beow said. You can resubmit the homework over for a higher grade. Overall I liked the course.
An angel. Took him for micro and macro, free textbook & just hw. But. You will have to read your book. It isn't test heavy so you can just read and understand your material -comprehension, no memorization, and learn excel. If you're a serious econ major maybe you should get a hard teacher that will drill you with formulas, but I learned a lot here
LOTS OF READING AND WRITING! Half way thru but I got perfect scores so far. I turned in one assignment from a B to an A. NO TESTS!!! Its all just writing and math questions. If you mess a question up then turn it back in for a new grade. Read the book and watch the videos, you'll be fine.
This was a great econ class. The assignments he gives involve a lot of reading and writing but they actually make you think about the material and see how it is applicable in society. Id rather learn this way than just memorize things for a test. Also the excel problems definitely teach you how to use excel. Im glad I took him.
Learned a lot, no tests or quizes, lots of homework, quick emails, flexes on due dates, uses Excel but I submitted two assignments on paper just fine.
Nice instructor that cares about students. The course material was consistent each week. I just downloaded the Word document, read the chapter, and answered the questions. He graded my assignments the next week. I'd take him again.
Class with focus on learning excel basics with instructor provided tutorials. Start by downloading your assignments and due dates. Read the chapter, do the week's HW with follow-a-long instructional videos and rinse and repeat until end of course. Flexible due dates. Can finish class early. No tests, or quizzes. Instructor Responds when asked a q.
Wonderful class, 14 assignments for entire semester. Learned more in this class than many others with much mroe coursework. Gets to the point, has videos to walk you step by step and you honestly just earn the important meat of the subject, no busy work. Great course, great prof, and can i also say FREE TEXTBOOK OPTION!!!!!!!! NO CODES!! <3
He gave us the textbook (FREE), there was no quiz or exams, just plain homework. Amazing teacher, always put videos to teach you the content, easy grader, respectful, and nice. If you can take him, do it.
Agree with my classmate below. Learned a lot about economics and how to use Excel to create cool products from real economics data. The homeworks was all videos or short answers. No exams or annoying discussion posts. Learned way more in this course than all my other courses. There is A LOT of reading and homework and video watching though.
Submitted my assignments early no problem. Everything graded quickly and finished with an A. Homework only. No tests. Want to take for micro but he isn't teaching it next semester.
I could not recommend prof. Reithmaier enough! He was super considerate when it came to assignments and truly cares and makes an effort to ensure you have the resources to pass the class. The assignments do take a decent amount of time, but due to the lack of quizzes and tests, you have more than enough to ensure you pass the class.
Had him for macro last semester and taking him for micro this semester. About halfway into the semester and I have an A. The class is all homework and lots of Excel but its doable. No tests or quizzes. The lectures are good and he explains things clear and simple. He pauses at least 5 times every lecture to ask for questions haha!
Good course, no tricks. Learned a lot.
Macroecon was so fun to learn because of the way Prof Reithmaier teaches it. There are no quizzes, tests, midterm, or final. He understands that we all have lives outside of school and gives until the end of the semester to upload assignments. He responds quickly and is so helpful in his emails. The work can take long, but take this class!!
There cannot be a better professor than Reithmaier. Even though Mac is a challenging course, like others said, he makes it inspirational. He's there for you and, like said, no test, midterms, or finals. Also, the reading material is FREE. I loved learning with teachers like these!
Amazing professor. Free textbook, self pace class, no exams and you can resubmit work for a better grade.
I've never written a review on here before but figured I need to after taking this professor. BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER. I have never had a better professor before. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the material and will tell us anything we want to know in regards to it. Only 1 assignment a week which is a 10 question homework assignment. THATS IT.
His lecture classes online give the same quality instruction as if in class. He is well informed, knowledgable, patient with questions, & cares that everyone is understanding the concepts. His weekly information provided is thorough, thoughtful, & engaging. Class participation is encouraged, but not forced. He shares websites & free textbooks. YES!
I'm so grateful I had this professor. He doesn't require a textbook, because he uses a free version of open stax. No tests or exams. One assignment due each week. This was so nice, because I'm taking another very test heavy class and don't have to stress about this one. I highly recommend taking this professor.
Professor Reithmaier was great! When taking classes it was hard for me to find a professor that works for my busy schedule, but he was just that. There is no need for a textbook, no discussions due, and just one homework assignment a week, usually 10 questions. Even though there are due dates, there was no deduction of points when turned in late.
Learned soooo much from Prof. Reithmaier! FREE Openstax book used, TONS of videos provided (check out his Youtube!). Only things graded were weekly 10 question homework! NO tests, midterm, or final! Made ECO2013 a breeze and always provided in depth feedback and extra information regarding topics. You can tell he's passionate about the subject!!
Great professor, always available to help you answer questions and or understand the material deeper.
Homework every week! So much reading in the compressed course. Beware I barely got an A and I worked my butt off!
Take his class! 100% recommend. Each week homework is due. NO MIDTERM, NO FINAL. Do all his homework on time and you will pass!
SO MUCH READING! Doable but plan to spend 5-6 hours each week on reading and homework. Questions are easy once you read the material. One of my IRL friends googled an answer instead of using the reading material and got marked down for it being wrong. The answer was right there in the video he gave!!! Course is structured well and consistent.
Teacher made the course easier to learn and was responsive.
Homework every week and lots of reading. Videos and textbook are good. Uses a free textbook nd not that dumb first day one all my other classes have. Learned a lot but have two chapters minimum each week. It was fine overall and I'd do it again. Only teaches macro from what I can see.
He grades so easily; I got 100% on all my writing assignments. That being said, no multiple-choice test, just 10 writing assignments for each section, does require time, but the lecture that I did online was easy. I would be at the gym while listening to them.
very kind, easy class
Not easy like the people below are saying more like Prof R knows the content is hard and flexed to help me out. Lots of writing in the HW. I wrote an essay worth each week. Like 10 questions each about a paragraph. He returned my work a few times to add more. For sure you'll pass by reading the book and writing what you learn. Only teaches macro :(
Fine.I survived. Doesn't teach micro.
