I took this freshman class with Dr. Nick and thouroughly enjoyed it. It is a very interesting class. The projects are a lot of fun and you can learn a lot. It is what you put in. The team assignments are good . Unless you ahve bad teammates, then it could be a drag. You have to give a presentation on your project though.Overall I liked this class.

Good class. Instructure is good,text is ok. Nick Safai usues power point for his lectures.He does the problems and some explanations of the txet materials using the smart& white board.Field work mostly outdoors is a good way to learn the equipment.You do need to write the results in a surveying lab book. Tests are hard, but you do ok if you study.

After class tonight I agree that he is awsome. This is an evening class from7pm to 9pm so students are low energy by this time,take him if you want to learn math.He explains until you get it.He gets everyone involved,he is enthusiastic and energetic when he lectures which gets class going. Before taking Dr. safai's math class I did not like math at all,but Dr. safai makes class intesting and will answer all your questions.I was always afraid to ask questions in other math classes but feel comfortable to do so in this class.He makes sure everyone understands each problem before moving on.

I took this class during the summer 8 week short session. Good class,I liked the real world examples, Nick know a lot of industry applications which helped me relate the course topics to real world.He likes to give a lot of assignments.You'll get your homework back graded but sometimes it takes a couple weeks on some of the grading. I recommend it.

Teacher is tough but fair. He has a great personality that keeps you tuned into lectures. Take him if you can. This was a very hard class but Dr Safai made it much better. He explained things in a way that made it easy to understand. He constantly was motivating us to do well and really wanted us to succeed. good class, good professor, i enjoyed the course. Class atmosphere is great, the instructor empowers students, builds students' confidence. I learned a lot when he is going over each test . that helped me with upcoming tests. attendance is not mandatory but he takes rolls which is a small portion 5-10 per cent of the final grade.

This was a tough class but Dr Nick made it easier for me to learn and do well. He is a fair grader and goes over each test afterwords in detail on the board so you can see your mistakes and learn from them. Definitely recommend him.

this seminar class is a lot of fun and very informative. presentations by industry professional engineers . the guest speakers talk about real world engineering work. you learn a lot but must attend the class once a week to get your A grade. I like to take it multiple times if I can schedule permits.

I am enjoying the class, so far I have seen 4 different presentations from 4 diff engineers from various industry around the valley, potential future employees. Good networking with these people. this surveying class lab is fun so far. The course has definitions need memorizing so read the book. Professor lectures the book. he power point presentations mostly like what is in the text. the course requires memorizing but he allows you to bring a sheet with formulas definitions to the test. Overall prof is very fair caring of students. easy

this is a fun class. but you do need to attend the lectures and read the text. There are definitions but Dr. Nick lets you have a sheet two sided for each chapter, you can write down on it the definitions and the equations for each chapter. very fair instructor and clear grading. I loved this class. the class exposed me to various fields of engineering. there were presentations by mech, electrical, civil, transportation, structural, material sci and chemical engineers. very interesting and helpful to help me decide what type of engineering I would want to go into. the instructor managed the large group of students well.

This is a hard class, the concepts are difficult to grasp but Dr. Nick explains them well & in a simple way which helped me understand them. I took the class during the summer which was a shorter semester, fast paced. But it went well & I learned. I 'd take more courses from him if I can & when possible. I liked the topic, good instructor. It was hard to understand the book initially, but after a bit you get the hang of this topic and its verbage. there is some memorizing of definitions along with formulas and analytical calculations and problem solving. Not heavy in homework. learn the text well attend the lectures and take notes when necessary.

this is a dificult class conceptually. The material is hard to grasp, dificult concepts thru out the book. The instructor makes it simple, explains well so that helps. One of the best classes&teachers I've had. I came from another institution and loved the way the class was taught here. He is so helpful to his students. Statics was a good class but some concepts r hard, expect to work hard in Statics to learn it. I liked the lectures and problems, going over the test on the board helped me to learn my mistakes. loved the real life stories, some funny too. Chapter testing are a good way for me to study and learn, statics is an important topic which feeds into other courses he emphasizes that point.

This is a forum class so the 2 requisites are show up and participate with the presenters and you'll get an A. Some presenters are more engaging and prepared than others but generally the topics are interesting. Nick does everything he can to help you get an A including extra credit. You can watch online or in class. Great intro to engineering.

Excellent class, good learning, knowledgeable, fair teacher. Helps students to succeed. Most of us passed the class with reasonable grade, considering it is a tough subject, grading is fair, no discrepancy, and very reasonable. I attend univ and took this class in a fast-paced summer setting, shortened semester and worked out great for me.

I am writing this after the fact...I took a couple of his classes. Now that I have moved on I realize what a great mentor, teacher, motivator Dr.Nick was for me and to his students.He helped and taught me many life lessons which I realize their validity now a few years years later
