Really wants his students to do well. Tests are okay, final was fair.
Pretty Good Professor, Gives many notes, and gives enough good examples, so when you are taking a test or quiz, they will look familiar. He is also quite funny.
Very helpful and very patient. Quite knowledgeable. Don't know why he is teaching this 'basic' course, but very glad that he is. Good lectures, notes, hints, tests.
This guy is the bomb. Spoon feeds you like a little kid. He made Cal 1 easier than it really should have been!
Good teacher. Tests are very familiar to class projects and homework problems. Do the work he assigns which is not much and you will be in a-b range. Helps you if you need help. Lenient on his grading methods.
Very great teacher. Always willing to help. made calc 1 easy to understand. tests are fair. i will take him again for other math courses
Awesome teacher very caring very sweet fairly easy
Great guy. Always in good spirits and jokes around, easy to get along with. The material is not very hard and he spends a lot of time proving theorems. Instead of quizzes he does group projects. Even lets students use a cheat sheet for any 2 exams. Homework is minimal and tests resemble the practice tests almost 100%! Do the work, you'll get an A+.
A really nice guy. Gives pretests that are exactly like the tests. Is willing to help and wants his students to succeed. Take him if you can.
love mr. pascu, i would take him again for calc 2 but i don't think i can wake up at 8am...take his class though because he'll explain ever thing you want him to and his practice test are just like his actual test!.
This guy is the perfect package. He teaches you the material well enough that you'll be on the same level as other people that took calculus with others but he makes it so damn easy to understand. Amazing teacher.
Great teacher goes over things as many times as needed for class to understand. Also for Calculus 1 he has started to use My Math Lab which has proven to be a huge benefit - if you have taken Calc before and had trouble take him!!!!
Perfect teacher. The class is easy and you really learn the material. He makes it so easy to understand it's remarkable.
If math is not your best subject, TAKE HIM. Open note tests, study guides, and partial credit. And he's super nice.
Excellent professor! Very helpful and respectful of students.
Very good quality. Makes sure everyone knew the material gave a lot of examples with multiple ways to do all those examples. Even with his accent I understood him better then my math teachers in high school.
Not the best professor on the planet. You must rely on yourself to learn the material. However, at the time, we got cheat sheets (might want to double check that now though since the department has altered a lot of regulations). One other plus is that he had a lenient grading scale. Plan on taking more Math after him? Choose another teacher.
Sometimes difficult to understand. Moves really fast so try to keep up. Most of the questions in the study guides are found in tests/exam. Not bad teacher but you do need to do the homework if you think you might struggle in the class. Overall not a bad professor, oh and he can be quite condescending and insulting if you ask a question.
You must rely on yourself to understand the material. I think his good ratings are dated. Although he still tries to be respectful of students, helpfulness is another matter.
Dr. Pascu is awesome. he's way higher than everyone's expectations. he tries to be as nice as he can. his math knowledge is really high too. I would love to take him again for my other math classes but its so sad I'm done.
Very helpful and knowledgeable teacher as long as show effort and participate. Most helpful during office hours. In class, ALL notes are from the book, even test questions are from the book. Practically paraphrasing the book for class notes. Provided study guides that 80% of the time resembled the test. 5 tests, all 20% grade, including final.
Great Professor! He will not fail you. He will do everything to help you improve your grade. I am taking other math classes that he teaches next semester.
Very hard to understand unless you already know calculus. Take someone else.
Take his class. He is one of the best math professors I've had. He'll never suprise you with quizzes and will always set tests back if the class agrees that their not ready. He leaves a lot up to the students, which is nice. He also gives many extra credit opportunities. I had never taken calc before this class and I'm expecting an A. He's good.
He's a pretty good professor. He has a bit of an accent, but it's nothing to complicated. MAKE SURE YOU COME TO CLASS EVERY DAY!!! It is important in making sure you pass or fail. Calculus is hard enough. He also decided to let us do group quizzes instead of individual since it helped boost our grade.
He may good in Calc 1(from what my friend said);however, for Calc 3 he was inconsistent. Some tests would reflect the study guides, while others would be nothing like it. His office hours were way too early. If you happened to wake up on time, he wouldn't be there on time. Clarity on grading not clear. He would say one thing, but change it later.
Pascu was the first calculus professor I took that made calc make sense. He has an accent but he was still very clear on everything you needed to know. I never wondered going into a test if I should learn some material or not. He did not require HW but had suggested assignments & in class projects so go to class! I would definitely take him again.
He is an awesome professor. By far one of my favorite professors for Math. He is not there to fail anyone. Just do your work and study properly, and you can get an A in his class. He makes his notes clear, and he gives enough examples so you can get the homework done. Overall his class is an easy and actually enjoyable class to learn in.
Professor Pascu is a very good professor. I took him for Calculus III. His study guides reflected the type of problems that would be on the test. I completed all of his suggested problems, and because of that, I had no problem making an A in his class. If you take him, put some effort in and do the suggested problems, and you will get an A.
Dr. Pascu was a great teacher. He presented the material in a way that was easy to understand. Homework wasn't mandatory, but, as with all math classes, recommended. He was helpful in many ways: study guides, office hours, group projects in class. If you put the effort in, your grade will reflect it.
Professor Pascu made Calculus 3 easy with very precise notes and examples. Unlike the negative review, it is only fair that the study guide does not have the exact same problems, but they were very similar. He does not take attendance but you should go to class because of group work. I would defiantly take him again if he taught any other subject.
He has an accent and does not go into full detail. He is terrible with meeting with him outside of class for help
Professor Pascu is the best calculus professor at SPSU. Period. He will get you your grade. If you want to pass this class, take Pascu and do the reviews. Attendance is optional, but if you take notes, you'll never see a question you've never seen before! Willing to work with you! Great guy and an amazing professor! LOW THEORY! TAKE PASCU. PASS.
Great teacher.
Professor Pascu knows how to transmit his knowledge to students. He is very patient with students and always try to find a way to help everyone. We have several in class group projects that helped us a lot with understanding the materials. It is important to do the homework and projects because some of the problems might appear in the test.
Has an accent, but knows how to teach!
Dr. Pascu cares about his students and is available for extra help if you need it. He grades fair so if you participate, study and show initiative you will do fine. I've taken 1111 before at SPSU and by far Dr. Pascu was the best math teacher I've encountered here.
I am an international student, so my English is not very good. But in this class, I can easily capture the key points and I think teacher can combine knowledge with examples together. I believe as long as you complete each assignment seriously and project, in your every exam, you can get great results! I like this teacher! He gave me a lot of help
Very clear. Not demanding. Offers in-class projects for easy grades. I would definitely take again.
This is the best math professor you'll ever have. He helps you out as much as possible when you're hving trouble. He drops the lowest test grade. Just show up to class and take notes and you'll make an A
It was the second time I took Professor Pascu. Professor Pascu is willing to help anytime. He responds to email in a timely fashion. He gives study guides that helps a lot. He knows how to explain complicated Mathematics concepts to students and how to entertain us. I would recommend anyone to register for his classes.
Great teacher and will really help you out. If you go to his office with your test and explain what you did, you can usually get 5-10 points added to a test. Does not assign mandatory homework, but this can be your downfall. His tests are typically no more than 10 questions, and offers extra credit during class for the tests. Textbook not needed.
Tests are 1/6th of your grade each, one of the 4 gets dropped. Group projects make up another 1/6th together. Final is 1/3rd. Each test had multiple extra credit which allowed omitting 1 of 10 problems, so you have at least a 20 if you do the extra credit. Test questions slightly resemble what you've seen; the final IS the review he gives you.
Great teacher, he really helps you to understand the material and goes out to his way to help his students
Despite being foreign, he's easy to understand and has good handwriting. Most of his lectures he'll write formulas and definitions on the board and then work problems. He gives good practice tests before each test, if you study those well and attend class you should be okay. He will work with you on your grades. Tough class but passable.
Great teacher. Definitely recommend to all.
I am kind of surprised he has such good reviews. I took him over the summer and had 2-4 homework assignments, a group discussion assignment, 1-2 quizzes, and studying to do each week. It was a lot and I didn't really understand it and he doesn't email back often when you have questions.
Pascu is a good choice, but not a great choice. The topic of prob/inf is very difficult and the lectures are nonstop whiteboard use type lectures. Despite the boring lectures, Pascu cares about his students. In my class we were given a take home test since so many failed the first test. Additionally he has given out bonus problems for the test 3.
Dr Pascu wants everyone do well. He allowed us a take home test as well as bonus problems to use towards test questions. To do well, be sure to bring the book to class since it's hard to understand his lecture sometimes. He teaches straight from the book, examples and all so its easy to follow with it. Dont skip or you will miss a lot of info
Poorly setup online class. You have power points (the textbook uploaded onto slides), that kind of explain so you're better off googling a formula. Group unit discussions, but your partner's grade doesn't effect yours so I don't understand the point of it. Hard info to learn via textbook slides.
Dr. Pascu is great. He really cares about the students. There are lots of group projects, but they are easy. The tests are easy too. The only this is that he doesn't assign homework, which was almost the entire class's downfall. However, if you are motivated and practice the textbook questions on your own, SUPER easy A.
Took this class in person with another professor got a D then took it online over the summer with Pascu and got an A. If you are not great at math, take this professor. Everything is on MyMathLab and every test and quiz is open note. you can take homework and quizzes as many times until you get a 100% and you can take tests twice. Cumulative final
He goes really fast and consistently, all notes on whiteboard during class. Ask him for bonus problems to help your grade, but generally he is very nice. Do the book problems, class problems and review and you'll do fine. P&I is just a difficult topic, but he does the best he can. He's a decent choice. He tries to help when you do bad on tests.
Classic calculus class, about one MyMathLab assignment per week.
Professor Pascu obviously cares about your success in this class. He is very accessible outside of class. Do the homework, participate, and if you have questions about an assignment or problem, communicate and he is helpful. Otherwise, pretty straightforward for an online math class. HW, Quizzes, and Exams all done through MyLab.
Super caring and sincere guy! You're only graded on a few things other than homework assignments and tests. He's super nice and is always willing to help his students. He has an accent but is easily understood.
If you took AP calc and think you can skip lectures, YOU CAN'T! Goes very fast. Very nice guy, but lectures put you to sleep. The software he uses for the online class is total garbage, delta math is better. However, you get two attempts at tests and even the final. HW harder than tests. LOTS of it.
Professor Pascu is one of the nicest professors I have had. You can tell that he cares about his students a lot. He is very lenient with when grades are due (You can usually shoot him an e-mail and he'll extend the time). We used My Math Lab for our homework, Exams, and Final. My Math Lab was alright for me as an online source.
Very accessible outside of class, and wants you to do well. 2 midterms and a final, + a few homework assignments. The textbook isnt required but he uses it a lot for examples, etc. Super nice guy.
Hes very lazy. if you have a question about anything dont bother emailing him because you wont get a response. he doesnt put in any grades & if youre hoping to see youre grade in owl express at the end of the class , GOODLUCK. he does everything last minute. test & quizzes are basically open note tho & grade majority is homework
The first day of class he told us that he was not gonna teach us anything and that everything we needed to know could be found in the hw or textbook. If you emailed him he wouldn't get back to you for a couple of days. His tests are open note which works because you won't learn a thing,I would say if you need this class down the road don't take him
do urself a favor & dont take this class with this professor.
All he does is read off the board. All of his tests are in person and there is only 11 questions on all of them including the final. Like all the other teachers he uses Aleyks but your just going to have to teach your self through that. The tests weigh the most and they seem like they set you up to fail.
Professor Pascue was great, he graded really easily, gave partial credit, and understands you. He answers all your questions. He gives you quite some ALEKS HW to do each week but if you do them, you will do good on the tests. His lecture teaches the concept well. He gives 10 question tests and a bonus on each, 3 tests total.
Prof is understanding, but kind of quiet during lecture. He rarely writes on the whiteboard and goes through problems quickly. His tests are only around 10 questions, but each bit has A LOT of information. It was an in person class, yet I we used ALEKS for 99% of the work.
I took this class with Pascu over the summer and was probably one of the most straightforward and easy classes I've ever taken. There are 13 HW assignments, 4 tests, and a final exam all done on ALEKS. If you're good at math, I'd recommend taking him BUT you do sorta have to teach yourself.
Not really a textbook, but we go through notes that he created. Accent was a little difficult to get used to but it's fine after 2 weeks. He's a good teacher and responds well to questions. Only issue is that if he is not showing up, it must be a last minute decision for him or something because you don't get a ton of notice. Wish he did Calc 1.
Pascu wasn't a terrible professor. He was very concerned about the best way for us to learn and gave options and suggestions for homework in class, out of class, quizzes, and how exams are given. I think my only issue is he is really fast during lectures, and the lectures do not always make sense. Make sure to watch youtube videos.
3 exams that are straight of the ALEKS online homework website, final was kinda tough. Literally just get a 100% on all your homeworks and do good on exams (NOT HARD). He has a few "participation assignments" that end up being 10% of ur grade to reward attendance. I stopped going to class with a little over a month left in the semester and got an A
This professor is very awesome. He gave the class 2 exams online and 2 exams in class. However, when you ask a question; he get mad. Highly recommended though.
I dropped this class because the teaching style is very nonchalant. He expects you to understand everything beforehand.Homework each week consists of almost 40 questions with some random questions. I picked this teacher because of the reviews but not a good choice. He has an accent too. Tests are 70 percent of grades. Overall, would not recommend.
Professor Pascu was easy to work with and helpful whenever I had a question to ask. Some math professors come across as demeaning to students who are struggling to grasp concepts and Pascu does not. I am looking forward to taking him again for Calc 2.
Lectures are monotone and he teaches by example problem, so you do learn most of the material while doing the homework. Homework is done on Achieve you do about 30-40 questions every week, four attempts on each question. It is difficult to grasp the material on your own, however, he gives a study guide for the test, extremely similar to the exams.
LOL not me picking this professor thinking he is the best because of his review. Not only did he waste my semester but made me lose my money. When I notice that this professor is waste of time I left in the middle of the class and thought through my life because this is not acceptable. All my three tests were under 40% which were the only grades.
99% of work is completed on ALEKS so if you stay on top of those, you will do well. Study Guides/ Practice Exams are extremely like the tests. Lectures are kinda hard to follow and monotone. I emailed him for an extension on some ALEKS modules and he gave me an extension within hours. He also let us take 2/4 exams online. Would recommend!
If you can teac your self then go ahead take this class. 90% of grades come from Aleks. They take forever to do but does teach you because Nocolae Pascu cant teach for crap. Took him fall 23. Find a better teacher if you can but he is ok. 2/4 test online. PS also remember to memorize the Unit circle, he gave it during the test but not the FInal.
CALC 2 NOT CALC 1 By far one of the greatest math professors out there. He's super caring and even let us take exams online/multiple choice if he noticed we were struggling. There is a fair bit of HW, 4-5hours a week worth if you actually try it. Quizzes were group work. By not taking this class, you're taking an L on a free A in Calc..
best professor ever. I had a hard time understanding him sometimes but he gave study guides that are similar to the test. when he saw that we had a hard time with the first test, he gave us a second chance to take it. so sweet & will give many opportunities to get your grade up. take him if you can. I took calc 1 with him, now I am taking calc 2.
I had him online so I didnt really get to know him as a person, but I can tell he wants his students to do well and cares for his students. I would recommend taking it online I enjoyed it.
Going to start this off by saying y'all were lying when you said this professor was "the best". Had to email him multiple times before I could get a response. Does not grant partial credit on tests, does not give extra credit at all, this class is a sink or swim honestly. Get ready to teach yourself everything and have no help if you want to pass.
I had him in my first semester of freshman year and he was pretty great!! Most (if not all) of his assignments are through ALEKS and he gives a lot of bonuses for exams! All of the lessons are posted on D2L and he also posts exam reviews which will really give you a VERY good glimpse at what the exams are like.
Gives lots of extra credit opportunities for tests and gives study guides that are exactly like the test but with some numbers switched around. Weekly homework and most other assignments are through ALEKS, and all material is online ahead of time. He has a somewhat strong accent, but it is still understandable.
I took Professor Pascue's pre-calculus course during my freshman year at KSU and I can say I have no regrets. He is very understanding when it comes to missing due dates on work or missing a test as he lets you retake it at your nearest convenience. He gives study guides that are just like the test just with the numbers switched around.
Professor Pascu is a good teacher and lecturer. He also provides many extra credit opportunities, especially if you just attend class. The class, however, does have a lot of homework, but it is overall an easy class to pass. Just do the homework, which is usually harder than Exams, go through practice problems, and you should be fine.
Take him!! I really understood Calc 1 with him and he gives so much extra credit, you literally have no choice to do well! Quizzes are just in-class group activities btw and are only a few times out of the month.
I personally thought his accent was hard to understand, and his lectures were hard to follow. Most of my learning was done out of class with a tutor. His tests were not too bad and there are a lot of extra credit opportunities (sometimes just for showing up to class!) I got an A but wouldn't take again just because his lectures sucked.
This professor is very kind, you can understand him, and he wants you to pass. BUT he does not teach, I have no idea why he has such good reviews because he just puts a paper under the screen, and that said paper has one problem solved for that specific area. He does not explain at all.
I like him
I never thought I would have done so well in precal. He is not only caring and willing to ensure you get it right until you move on, but he also gives you plenty of chances to do so, as long as you show up.
