This class was the best. Nick explains everything very clearly & lectures are easy to understand. he lets students make up work if you see him in his office & he usually doesn't take roll.
He's really a sweet professor. He grades mostly on homework and quizzes. So do good in them and if you get D's on your exams its ok. You could still get a B. Easy B I would say but unfortunately I got really lazy in his class but I still passed. =)
One of the best teachers! What you put in is what you get out...maybe not the most lenient teachers, but one of the most fair. And if you have problems, go to ofc hours -- he always seems happy to help.
This course requires a lot of work, but Nick is a very thorough and patient teacher. He makes sure that you understand everything, and is available during office hours for help. His syllabus is clear and he follows it pretty closely. Weelky quizes and every third week tests. Challenging, but fun!
I dont know what these people are talking about!!! His teaching method is horrible!!! His examples are confusing and his tests are really hard!!!
I liked this teacher, hate math. He'll always ask, "Any questions?" and will explain until everyone is satisfied w/ how he got the answer. He's a nice guy overall and makes sure to include everyone in the class.
He is confusing, boring, unhelpful and hard. I had to learn everything on my own. The book is a better teacher that he is.
Awesome professor, very fair and helpfull. Wish there were more professor like him.
Just to let everyone know Huerta wrote these good reviews about himself… because he is the worst professor ever!!!! Hard tests and does not review before the tests
He is a really hard teacher. So don't take his class. He does it review before a quiz ans test
Hes hard!!!!!!!!! Beware!!!! take someone else............run
THIS TEACHER IS GREAT!!! i todally recomend him to anyone, he is a very easy person to talk to when you go to his office. he is always willing to help...as long as you as for help!! he's not a mind reader, so if you have a problem ASK FOR HELP, go to his office hours, that's what it's there for!!
He is the best teacher I've ever had at FJC. He makes the class fun. Hard class but if you work at it, it'll pay off. I got a B+ in the class where I used to fail math in the past. He will ALWAYS help you no matter what. And he's young, so that helps too!
Good teacher, Study hard for this class... it's calculus! what do you expect. HE Helps you if you're stuck on exams. Cool guy, young. very helful on exams. I hated math and i ended up getting an A in the class.
He was a bad teacher for me. I didn't like him at all. His teaching style was so bad. He didn't fully explain things. Thus making the class extremely hard for me.
Nick Huerta teaches straight out of the book and does not spend anytime on his lesson plans. He assigns so much busy work (20HRS. to do one week of HW) and teaches so quickly that you are always racing to catch up. Do not take this class.
I think he is an awesome teacher!!! =)
dude loves to leave chalk dust all over his hands... first time i saw it i thought it was a skin disorder
EASIEST CLASS EVER. seriously- i don't think he even has a degree in math... he just rewrites problems and gives dumb suggestions..but the class is super easy..
easiest class I have this year by far....you dont even need a textbook cuz all the hw is done online
He is a good teacher most people find the subject hard. Just be sure and do all the work in his class otherwise you will sink!! Especially if you have to go int 142 and 150AB. By the way he has a Masters degree in Mathematics...
Like the person before me said. He's not exactly easy so you HAVE to do all your homework to keep up with the quizzes. The quizzes help! They prepare you for the quiz. And he's always patient with all his students. One student in class has a little problem, but the teacher is always consistant and always helpful. He's really good. He always got that beachy look haha.

hes horrible!!!!! he dosent teach!!! I dropped his class an took a diffrent prof. and I got an A. He sucks
He is a really good teacher. You have to do most of the work...he does drop assignments to boost grade. Very personable and is willing to help, but he will be more willing if you put in effort.
Very good "teacher." Teaches step by step on how to solve stuff and makes it easy to understand and is super helpful in class if you dont. Do all hw to do good on quizzes and tests and taking notes is a MUST to do hw well. overall one of the best math teachers around
he's a pretty good teacher... everything is pretty straight forward and he'll help you out
Loved this teacher!! I'd take him again. Very helpful and teaches with clarity. Nice guy too.
he is a pretty easy teacher. most of the stuff that he explains is pretty easy to understand, but sometimes the way he words things may be hard to understand. overall easy class when you pay attention.
huerta is a nice guy...class is all NOTES NOTES NOTES. he explains okay, and he'll help you but, i've had better teachers. i got a D, and i wont be taking him again.
nick is a nice guy. he helps, but gives a lot of H.W. test and quiz are hard. i failed the class and took it with someone else and passed. if ur really into math, he's for u, but if u hate math and are taking it just cause u have too, pick someone else.
This is a hard subject..Im not a math person so I should have taken an easier teacher. He goes WAY too fast...the homework is online and it takes forever to do...and his notes dont usually comply with the hw or tests. I would reccomend someone else if your not good at math-this class is for the naturaly gifted in math.
Great math teacher but is challenging. He is a great guy and very helpful. He will take the time to cover all the material witch is to your benifit to know as much as possible. TAKE HIM
Huerta is a great guy. He will clarify anything and takes time to make sure that you understand the material. The homework is online. Take this class if you dont like math because he makes math tolerable.
I have taken Nick for ALL of my math classes. He is such a good teacher,if you don't understand he will help you until you do.He explains everything clearly.LOTS of hw,and quizzes weekly. If you don't mind taking notes than take him. That is all he does, NOTES.Trust me, it's worth it though.Highly Recommend him.
Nick is a great teacher. He will totally help you if your stuck. A lot of homework but he drops your lowest scores. You dont need the book, the whole thing is online. Math is rarely fun, but he makes bearable.
Great teacher! Really clear on his notes and assignments. Happy to help his students. But he material is hard, the homework is hard, and so are the tests. If you don't want to try for a class don't take him. He'll teach you what you need to know and you'll love him, but you can't coast by.
really good teacher.explains well. and easy to pass.
Huerta is an awesome teacher. He knows what he is teaching and his explanations are very clear. Just as long as you do your homework and pay attention in class, you'll do just fine. He lets you drop several quizzes and hw. :)
I am taking the online Math class. It was hard for me at first but Mr. Hureta was very helpful and encouraging. Will take him again if given the opportunity!
He's a good teacher, but the homework and tests are very HARD! if you do poorly in math i would recommend not taking this class with this teacher. take Prof. Chris Larsen instead. she's a great teacher! She gives great notes and they're easy to understand
I always struggled with math. Barley passed. A lot of homework and Lots of quizzes. He is a good teacher but if you have problems with math take some one else.
i took math20 b4 and FAILED and then i took it again but this time with Huerta. and i passed!! He made me want to learn, which is funny considering i hated math b4 Huerta! although there is a lot of hw and quizzes this guy is really great at making sure you understand the material! I reccommend him:)
I hated math class before Mr. Huerta's class. He's a great teacher who is very understanding to each student needs. I highly recommend taking him, but try to take him during the semester. He's abit fast during summer session.
Took his online class, alot of work but easy. He is available when you need him and very understanding. Highly recommend his class. I got a C in class but thats just I really suck at it, i could have done worse
Strict, but fair and accommodating; arguably the best math professor I've had in my entire life.
He's really easy especially if you attend class everyday, have confidence & pay attention. If you're having trouble, he'll continue helping you until you get it. You'll pass if you do all the homework & put 100% effort into it. I suck at math & passed with an "A"! =]
Online class very easy to follow. Video lectures are easy to grasp. Mr. Huerta was very helpful and fast at replying to questions via email. He was available to help on campus if needed also. I would take him again.
Mr. Huerta is a good teacher but he lecture is hard to understand he goes way to fast, you have to learn on your self. His quiz and and test are tricky. if you arent good with math dont take him you wont learn very much. his home work is do online but is time consuming you wont have time to study or for other classes.
ask all the questions u want, he answers them really well and really wants to help u. easy. there's a good amount of hw.
I LOVED MR. HUERTA... He has a very relaxed teaching style & is extremely helpful (ask?)Make sure u do all your online HW & put in your HRS in the math lab. DON'T MISS CLASS! Mr. H's notes r crystal clear to understand; u will need them. I would definitely take his class again.(Just to look @ him, he is HOTT!)
He is super organized with his notes and lecture but he moves really quick. You HAVE to pay attention to lecture otherwise you will be lost. Don't miss class either. He gives online homework so you don't really need a book. Quizzes every 2nd class. Tests were DIFFICULT! I hate math so I hated this class. Make sure you do your lab hours too.
I do not really recommend his online course especially in the summer. The website that the course in conducted through is very well organized and the notes that Mr. Huerta leaves are useful, but the pace of the class is too fast for those who have a diffculty with math. I would suggest taking the course during the fall or spring.
I love Mr. Huerta! I had to email him a lot because I couldn't figure out how to get the online course to work on my MacBook, but I didn't know he knew who I was until the final, when he specifically asked me if I'd ever gotten the technical difficulties straightened out. So nice!
This course is very demanding an fast paced, but will prepare you for calculus. If it were my only class, I would maybe have passed, but I had to drop it, because it was wasting so much of my time on the online homework and other grades were suffering. I would not recommend for an easy teacher or for that matter an easy course.
Very hard during summer, I worked extremely hard second time taking his class, and I had a 69 percent after summer and he would not pass me! Too fast paced. If you struggle with math you will struggle in this class =[
I took him for Math 15 and Math 20. He is very nice, helpful and when I got a 69% in one of the classes he bumped me to 70% so I could pass the class. He is good math teacher to take.
Took his Math 015 and Math 020 online and it was a pretty easy class. I hate math but he makes it easy to understand and he is very helpful. Good teacher. Take him.
In order to pass his class, you have to attend class meeting to take notes, take your quizzes and tests. Also, some advice do all your MathLab Hw to 100% overall if you need help he is willing to help you during office hours. I recommend if youre not good at math STUDY before class starts & don't use "help me solve this" button you won't learn .
This class was OK. I mean, it was kind of monotone & he talks about gambling ALL THE TIME. I didn?t want to hear about Los Vegas. Or gambling. Or Craps. I wanted to learn about math, & I did, it?s just-I also learned more than I wanted to about gambling. So don?t take his class if you don?t want to hear about Craps! But other than that, take him.
I'm going to be honest and say this is one of the hardest calculus classes I've taken. Show up everyday, ask questions, do every single homework problem (because they will be on the weekly quizzes. The first day of class, there were no seats available with many petitioners, and by the middle of the semester only 10 people remained alive. Good Luck
This teacher is super hard. he doesn't know how to teach.I DIDN'T learn anything from him, half of the students dropped the class. DON'T TAKE HIM
hard at summer.
I took him in last semester! This guy knows how to teach! His Hybrid classes are very helpful, and you learn! Plus he's pretty chill about having the quizzes online! Definitely take this guy during a regular semester!
took his hyrid class. it was super easy. all the homework and quizzes were online and only two exams on campus. good at math or not, pay attention and he is a very good teacher and easy to grasp his lectures. math15
First math class I've ever even passed, and I ended with the top grade.. Attend class. Do all your homework. Follow his lecture. You'll pass. He's not an easy teacher, but you'll get out of it what you put into it. He's ALWAYS willing to help anyone who asks. Take him you won't regret it.
Calculus with Huerta was tough. He doesn't give any study guides for Exams. If you are naturally gifted in math, take Huerta, if you are an average math student looking to succeed in Calculus, take it with Danufsky
Prof Huerta is the best Math teacher ever. Take him and he will help you to pass lots of hard work. Very patient with answering questions.
Summer school was difficult but Mr. Huerta is an excellent teacher. Be prepared to work hard. Uses online program mymathlab. His lecture is very clear, his notes are great. Several people dropped and or failed simply because they could not keep up with the workload, due to it being summer. He drops the lowest test and quiz. Would take again.
Great math teacher! He helps you so much! The hybrid class is easy if you get good grades and pay attention. He's very clear and understandable. He's very nice to all his students. There is a quiz everyday you come in, they are easy if you pay attention the class before and study.
He is very clear when it comes down to teaching. People that complain about him probably are the ones that shut up and stay quiet when they don't understand something which isn't the professors fault. Ask and he will help. Just study and focus in class and you will pass.
Quiz every week except on weeks there are exams. No study guides (except on final he gave a list of topics). Lots of homework. All sounds bad, but what do you expect? Its calculus. This prof does a very good job making his lectures clear, the rest is up to you to work your butt off to get that passing grade. Totally doable. Remember your trig.
Very well in presenting all the content in a very understandable way. if there is something you don't understand raising your hand is all you need to do, he is always willing to clarify more if needed. assigns a good amount of homework and has weekly quizzes which is really helpful since it kept me diligent in learning the content well.
Professors Huerta is amazing! He was super helpful and always asked if we had any questions. One of the best math professors I have ever had.
Prof. Huerta is a great math instructor, he challenged you. Make sure that you complete all of the assignments on time. It has been years since I have taken a math course, and I was very uncomfortable in taking a math class. Glad that he answered any questions that I had.
I took Mr Huerta's 7:15am class. He is so underrated. I never asked any questions or talked to him really. All I did was go to class and take notes. His lectures were so easy to understand. He never gets angry and will even answer the dumbest questions. Homework on mymathlab was easy and not a lot. I've always hated math but Mr Huerta was the best!
Wouldn't recommend math41 for students that are returning from a long break from math. Issue I had was he would put up examples ask students how to solve it. Students that had experience would answer. Would confuse me when he only explained how to solve the problem with his shortcuts. Online homework 100-160 problems each chapter.
I have taken prof huerta for math 20 in the summer few semester ago i passed him with flying colors, everything you will need to learn and examples he writes them in the board, so write everything he writes. He easy teacher if you pay close attention and not goof around, very good class
Where do I begin. Just completed exam 2 (barley) nearly half the class didn't finish. lectures are heavy, monotone, and boring. Mostly sits with his hand over his mouth half muttering. lectures barely cover the 100+ question assignments that is on mymathlab. Surprise questions on quiz and exams that we are never taught. and late to class everyday.
This class was so hard for me. Please be sure to follow Mr. Huerta recommendations such as study before the class lecture, do your homework, and review class notes. If you do that you would be fine, the exams are no hard because 99% of the questions are from the class examples and lecture. Yes, I recommend him.
Professor Huerta is a great instructor and he genuinely cares about his class. I'd take him again in a heartbeat but maybe not a Summer term because there was a years worth of math crammed into four weeks. Take advantage of his office hours and ASK QUESTIONS. He's super clear and caring.
Hes a solid guy and he cares about you as a student. He remembers your name and face, which also means he notices when you dont go to class. Overall though he is a good example of what a professor should be.
Professor Huerta really cares for his students and loves to interact/help them. His lectures are easy to follow. Pay attention and take notes and you'll pass easily. Tests are easy as long as you study the notes. He'll go back and explain things for you if you don't understand a concept. Overall, such a great and kind professor! Take him!
He won't open due dates like a normal professor, even in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis or when dealing with a student with a disability. He has zero care for morale. Absolutely miserable experience. Miss a couple of due dates and u might feel pretty stupid trying to complete the next week's HW. Unprofessional and discourteous & bad online
Prof. Huerta is kind, and will clearly explain any questions you may have. Amidst Covid-19, he has been lenient by extending few homework due dates (if majority begged). However, he assigns so much homework youll be stressed more than actually learning. Also, if youre not well versed in algebra and trig, youre in trouble for Calc in general.
Huerta gives a ton of homework but the tests and quizzes are significantly more difficult than what he shows over his lectures. He grades very hard when it comes to tests/quizzes.
Pretty good teacher compare to other math classes. 2 Hw assignments each week along with a quiz and discussion. Not to hard but have to put some effort. Gives you different sources to help pass . Responds quick .
Professor Huerta is awesome. We had 4 exams + the final and quizzes every week on the material he goes over. I didn't think the quizzes and tests were more difficult than the homework like some said, however he does want you to learn concepts rather than memorize how to solve problems. He was honestly the best math prof I've ever had.
He is a horrible teacher, doesn't even deserve to be called a professor. He gives quizzes every Thursday, and he doesn't even give us our homework or quiz back from before so we can review it before another quiz. His lectures are just him reading off questions and answers, he never explains with his own words. DO NOT take his class. Save yourself.
Quizzes each week. 4 tests and a final. The homework & quizzes prepare you for the tests. Lecture examples are too simple, however the content is great. If you have a class tutor, attend the sessions and you will get an A. He has no sympathy for those who do not put in effort. Make sure your algebra is good, if not you will struggle, same for trig.
Huerta is a good but straight-forward teacher, he covers content of his class very well. Take good legible notes, don't slack off as you follow his lectures and you'll be fine, but I've never put in more time into a class than his calc class. His homework and study guides help 100% and going over the SG with the tutor will help even more.
Professor was good at explaining the material as well as teaching us how to use our graphing calculators. He allows you to bring notecards he provides into the exams which I greatly appreciated.
If you want to spend your entire weekend doing homework you don't understand of studying for tests you're not prepared for, take Huerta. He is not a clear lecturer, his homework hardly relates to what was in the notes, his exams are highly definition heavy. I am great at math and stuggled heavily with this class. Beware!
Definitely not the best professor out there, especially if you struggle in math. Exams are nothing like the online homework or quizzes and he does not provide any review work before exams other than the final cumulative one. He's a super tough grader. Be sure to study a LOT before the exams because any little thing will result in points off.
His exams were nothing like the homework or lectures. He does not curve grades or exams. He gives too much homework that, again, does not relate to the exams. He is rude and condesending during his lectures. I hated this class every day I was there.
I am not good at math, so taking a stats class was pretty difficult for me. Despite this, professor Huerta was a very clear lecturer and was easy to understand. Once I got the hang of things I started doing better in the class, and I could tell that he appreciated participation and engagement in his class.
Professor Huerta was a great professor! If you are someone who is comfortable asking questions when you are having math troubles then he's very comprehensive to your needs! He puts in a lot of effort to get you to understand. I appreciate the way he teaches. Overall a kind, caring professor.
Read the reviews and save yourself, don't make my mistake.
Pretty easy and straightforward if you do the HW. The tests are mostly simple with 1 hard question for exam 2 and 3 but realistically anyone should get at least a B if you do all the HW. Grades tests thoroughly so it helps you learn your mistakes and only takes half a point for minor mistakes.
I will NEVER take this professor again nor recc him. He has handouts every lecture along w/ a video but he doesn't teach he just reads his handout it's horrible. For this online winter ‘25 class you will have no life because he gives A LOT of hw that's SO time consuming. Whole class was drowning in the work. He offered extensions but doesn't help!
Prof. Huerta covers course content well, but his class requires consistent effort. Utilize the homework, quizzes, and tutors to succeed. unstuck ai can also be a helpful study tool.
Great teacher if you want a good understanding of calc to carry over to calc 2, but it will be a lot of work. Homework is turned in weekly (written out on paper). Weekly quizzes help you study for the exams, and the exams help you with the final. No study guides besides exams and quizzes. He will emphasize notation. good dude too imo
If you have no life, take his class. It makes you think, what is the point of life and drives you to suicide. Every week: 4 assignments, 4 quizzes, 200+ questions, plus related ones hitting 500. Exams every 2 weeks. Absolute overload. Starting any assignment makes me wish I were dead. Avoid this sadist at all costs.
