Leaves things out of syllabus which will hurt you. Turn in homework late, don't expect credit(despite saying he takes it). Hard to understand and lectures weren't helpful. Has a hard time understanding that students are learning and don't just get it like he does. If I had to take this class again, I would have picked Philpot.
Class is unreasonably difficult. Homework is assigned but good luck on completing it by yourself, many of the problems have no guide online or are pay-gated. Tests are very different from the homework, rarely will you recognize a problem on a test. His accent is difficult to understand imo. No old tests are provided to study, only guide is hw.
The test are multiple choice, but are all or nothing, which means that if you make two minor mistakes (even calculator errors) then you already have a 70% on the test. The only students that finish the test on time are the ones that have no idea what they are doing. He provided resources to help study for the test.
Professor is very helpful and highlights involvement in the class. Extra credit is usually abundant but difficult to attain. He provides all materials online. No test solutions are provided, nor are they "graded." No partial credit is available on tests and problems are too long to allow initial mistakes. Review directly below this elaborates.
This instructor gives a lot of opportunity for students to learn the difficult information in the class but the students must make a strong effort and work for the grade.
I found Dr. Libre to be a fairly mediocre teacher as far as how well he explained things. However, I rated him highly because he uploads hundreds of examples throughout the semester that are worked out step by step and are clear to understand. If you learn by examples, this is a great teacher for you. Also, his grading has extra credit and a curve.
In a class of about 40 people I expected to be able to understand the material and be able to ask questions. You don't get to. You are left out to die if you can't understand right away. Lectures are not helpful, review sessions are terrible, and he makes you feel stupid if you don't understand. He goes through things too quickly.
After the sudden passing of the other CE2210 professor, Libre had to take over an additional 400 students. Needless to stay, he still did an incredible job. He gives a ton of study material to fit the needs of every type of learner. His lectures are involved and he provided hundreds of examples. His tests are not too bad.
There is an incredible amount of resources provided to ensure that you understand the material.
He has good lectures. Its nice to have a professor that posts the slides along with notes after each lecture. Very happy to have him. Lots of extra credit as well
Libre is a great professor and nobody should ever fail his class. He does tons of examples in class and if that's not enough he has his own YouTube channel with examples and test reviews. He asks you to do a lot outside of class so don't be lazy and you will easily pass.
has an amazing app. wish it was offered on something that wasnt a brand new apple product so i could actually use it. Also makes examples super easy in class so he can solve them but adds unnecessary conversions on tests for the sole reason to throw people off that were to busy studying the actual material

Teaches a difficult subject, but there are many resources available to do well. Attendance is basically mandatory. Instruction aside, he is hard to reach outside of class and has unclear, often vague grading policies. He seems to distrust his students and won't fix his mistakes in the gradebook if you wait more than a week to talk to him about it.

Libre does a very good job of providing lots of resources to be successful in the class. However, he does not do a very good job with communicating with his students. In addition, the class is HEAVY with homework and tests. The final was very difficult. Just be prepared to deal with his attitude, study lots, and get all possible extra credit pts.
He gave too much homework for a short period of time, and the questions sometimes didn't even line up with what was taught in class. The tests were even worse. However, if you bought the error riddled book that HE WROTE, you would pass. It is literally a pay to win class. The only good thing about this class was the abundance of extra credit.
Libre is objectively a pretty good lecturer, but as a general human being he is very unpleasant. I liked that he uses his own website bc cheap, but it also glitches all the time and somehow thats our fault. Hes not very approachable and very hard to get in touch with and doesnt communicate important info about the class very well. idk good luck man
Hard tests. His hw is from his book that he sells u. His website always has issues. Pre lectures quizzes and video and a lot of hw.
As long as he's coordinator GET IN HIS CLASS! Gives you best chance of getting a good grade or at least passing. Provides tons of study resources and bonus, take advantage of them! Be ready for tests, study what he gives you because tests will be similar. Study out of class, he covers little in lecture. And never bash the website in front of him :)
If you put in the effort, you will be rewarded.
He provides with you with extra credit, but it is a difficult class and you have to stay on top of your work.
Great guy, great professor, gives lots of bonus points. Only bad thing is the content of the course is really tough, but he understands that and works with you if you're struggling

Dr. Libre desperately wants all his students to learn the material. He takes all recommendations seriously.
Libres class is very demanding, not only is it necessary to go to class to understand the material, you also need to stay on top of lecture videos and homework assignments in order to make sure you do not fall behind. If you manage time well and stay on top of work, it is very do-able.
He gives you lots of problems to work with and study with. If you put in the time he will be willing to help you succeed. If you don't do the assignment he won't waste his time with you.
Go to class. Do the homework, find a study group.
He sets up his class in an inverted format - you do the homework and watch lecture videos before the lecture. Lots of practice problems available on his website. Make sure to go to class and participate for bonus points.
He has been a great professor and I actually enjoy taking his class. I know many people say he's hard but if you take the time and effort to study and learn the material you will not have trouble. Honestly this class has been easier than statics. Also a ton of extra credit is given.
His teaching style didn't really work for me. It was mostly lectures. However, he did listen to feedback and is trying to make a more hands on guide on how to approach problems.

He really cares about students and there understanding of the material and knows it can be a tough course. Through his website there are a ton of extra videos, practice problems, etc. to help study and understand. Make sure to actually do homework and show up to class to receive bonus points.
The course is difficult. He provides many res courses and opportunities to get points and make up things that you missed. Go to his office hours. He will help you understand. It may seem harsh but hes there to make sure his students pass.
Dr. Libre works hard on the format of the course. The class material itself is quite challenging and you won't pass unless you actually put in the work and take each lecture at a time.

Dr. Libre is a wonderful professor but expects you to do your part as a student. This course takes a lot of time to understand and solve the prodived practice problems. If you study diligently and contact Dr. Libre when you do not understand something, you will be okay in this course with this professor.
Dr. Libre is very organized and knows what he is doing with teaching in a way that is easy to understand.
Libre, has a wonderful way of getting you to meet with him by locking out you out of his website. Forcing you to drop or meet with him to humiliate yourself in front of him and to demonize you.
If you meet with Dr. Libre 1 on 1 he us very helpful but his lectures can be very fast and hard to follow and sometimes he is not as understanding as if you were to go to him 1 on 1.
Libre seems like the better choice among professors to take this course. The class is naturally pretty difficult, so you have to put the work in. Extra credit and bonus points will be offered.

Great teacher for mechanics of materials but you will need to put in as much effort as he does. He will give lots of extra credit opportunities but you need to utilize them. He is a great techer overall
Mechanics of Materials is a tough class conceptually, but Dr. Libre is receptive to feedback. He teaches the class in a "flipped" style that requires learning concepts outside of class, but in the end helps students retain information more effectively than most professors.
Constantly changing up his teaching style trying to improve. This is both good and bad because the class feels like it's constantly in flux and it is hard to get a good feel of what he actually wants from you, but it also means he actually cares about what he is teaching.
He's a good teacher, but you have to want to learn the material and be invested in the class to do well. There is not much motivation to do stuff.
Good class layout, if you want to do good in Mechanics of Materials then take Libre. Youll definitely learn the material.
This class is a lot. There is a ton of information, a ton of assignments, and quite a few tests. With that being said, there are a ton of resources to help you pass. If you are willing to put in the time, you will be able to get a good grade and learn a lot.

He is a very straightforward person who teaches in a reverse class manner. In other words, you watch videos before class and then while in class you only go over questions and some sample problems. If you are someone who is willing do teach yourself the material the day before class then he is for you. He has some extra credit as well
The class is difficult but the unorthodox lecture and teaching method allow for great grasp of the material. The exams are only difficult because there is not a lot of time given.

Professor Libre is one of the most prepared professors. He uses a reverse course format that in someways is amazing but really challenges the way that students are used to being taught. The test do tend to be extremely difficult, however, he does provide the resources to succeed. Personally the time needed to get an A was quite difficult to attain.
I'm not a big fan of libre but he does his absolute best to make a full class better. Lectures encourage participation and class is taught in a flipped format. That said, I'm not a big fan of his video lectures as I found then difficult to follow and lacking in a lot of why stuff is done, rather he focuses simply on equations to memorize
This course has 'no' homework but the preclass assignments are still for points. He teaches in a really unique way where he asked you to watch the lecture before coming to class. He has put a lot of effort into the class. He is chill. Also, his office hour is pretty helpful too. A lot of bonus points if ya put in the work
He teaches the course fairly and offers bonus point on the homeworks and in class. Be warned he takes away bonus points on the hw if too many people actually do it so it's a double edged sword. Digital lectures for preclass are just fine many need additional clarification.
This professor wants his students to do well, however his lectures do not explore the more in depth parts of the course. If you want to do well, you WILL have to spend many extra hours a week on this class (we are talking 4+ on top of homework already assigned and in class lectures). If that's not doable for you, he doesn't care. "Make it happen"
I appreciated Dr. Libre's teaching style. The pre-lecture assignments may be annoying, but they honestly do a more effective job of facilitating learning than most other teaching methods. Lectures are valuable and usually cover examples, but Dr. Libre is always understanding about questions and answers them thoroughly. He puts a lot of effort in.
Dr. Libre does a solid Job of teaching this course. Examples are well explained in class, and he prepares the students for the homework with the videos on the course website. His course website can be a little buggy at times, but over the semester I have come to prefer it to canvas.
He is a good professor overall and truly cares about the students and them learning the content. Although it's hard to satisfy everyone's individual learning needs, he does a good job making every possible resource accessible. His only downside is the amount of homework assigned in the post class activities is very difficult to set aside time for.
Libre is a solid choice and your best chance of passing the class.
I think that Dr. Libre, himself, is not a bad teacher. I think that the concepts for this particular coarse are very challenging and that is where he may get a bad rating. Stinks that he has a text book that is very helpful that is only accessible to apple users. However, he does try to make up for that with other accessible items through website
Dr. Libre does a really good job of working through problems when students have issues, however the course material and work can get quite difficult and builds upon itself, so if you fall behind it is hard to catch back up. He does help out by giving bonus points for completing different assignments and class participation.
Make sure to do all pre-class assignments, these are what matter the most to him. He wont be hard on you about test scores if you are diligent about pre-class and post class work. Expects his class to be your priority and all others should take the back seat.

Dr. Libre can be very flaky and change his mind at any minute. He does explain things decent in his lectures and gives extra credit. He is very choosy with his extra credit however. One minute he will say you'll get it for doing something and then the next will not give it. His book really helps if you have means to buy it! Overall not great prof.
Dr. Libre's course is difficult at the best of times, but I think his class is much more effective then the other classes offered at MS&T. It is heavy focused around his website which he recently upgraded from previous semesters and while there are a few bugs I find that it is leaps and bounds better then others i.e Mastering. He does care too.
Exams are multiple choice and very heavy in points compared to everything else. Flipped format teaching style is very difficult to get used to compared to a traditional style.
Everyone complains about Dr. Libre but just do the work and you will be fine. His lectures and examples prepare you for the tests
Class average of 69%, yet wouldnt even consider a curve. Extremely full of himself and thinks that his class is the only one youre taking. Test questions are rarely anything that you see in lecture, homework, or extra work. Which is ridiculous considering tests are 80% of the grade. DO NOT TAKE LIBRE
Very rude, situationally unforgiving, says one thing to one student and a different thing to another, 0/10 recommend unless this is all you plan to do in a semester
Now, notice the course number - this was Materials testing, NOT the lecture. The course website is out of date, reuses all the same labs, TAs are very contradictory to each other. Honestly a pain to even participate in this lab. Get a file though
Great Professor overall. While his class is difficult, if you put in the time and do the assigned work you can get whatever grade you want. Libre wants his students to succeed and gives plenty of resources as study aides.
Hands down worst Professor I have ever had. Gave me a 0 on a test when I had mono and the school doctors told him I couldnt take the test. Never even saw him he would just make you go and subscribe to his YouTube channel. All tests were online and if you were .01 off you got a 0 for the question, no partial credit. Awful human.

He is one of the best lecturing professors I have had during my time here. However, his class is very homework-heavy, and be prepared to do a lot of it; for some reason, his exams are ridiculously difficult. He makes the course sound as simple as 2+2 in his lectures, then the homework is 2*2, and the exams are quantum computing...
Best professor ever. Has website for lectures and homework, which also has practice & review questions. The exams are very reasonable, all multiple choice, with many basic & conceptual questions (many covered on hw & in class). If you do 90% of your homework, you're guaranteed to get one letter grade higher than the avg of your midterm exam scores.
A very full of himself professor who strives to find different ways to fail students. Very test heavy course yet all exam questions are different then the examples and HW done previously. Honestly don't know how he's still teaching as every student at this point knows DONT TAKE LIBRE and it shows with the only other professor class always packed
One of my favorite teachers honestly. His lectures were very beneficial and almost supplements to his websites videos (so watch those), tests were hard, but fair. His grading policy makes getting an A very doable if you do your homework! Highly recommend!
I don't understand why, but Libre will not respond to emails during finals weekend. As this is the most important weekend of the semester, and all of our grades are on the line, Libre does not answer. 22% of our grade is on this test and it has been radio silent for four days. Beware of this as this is totally unacceptable in a professor.
In the online section, you will be teaching yourself the material off youtube videos. You do not get feedback on homework. On exams, only a percentage score is provided. Prof doesn't answer questions on material by email and doesn't adjust office hours if you can't attend. Prof is unforgiving in extenuating circumstances, such as internet outages.
He doesn't know how to use Canvas. He only imported my midterm grade as a B which read at 89%. He did not clarify that it was anywhere in the B range and when calculating my grade before the final, I found out it was significantly lower then anticipated. Again, I had to calculate because he didn't report grades on Canvas.
Making the most of the coursework worth bonus points feels like a very antiquated approach. I took another flipped style course alongside Libre's and the difference was night and day. There needs to be more material to bridge the gap between exams and homework, because the difference in difficulty is inexcusable. Feedback is also nonexistent.
Dr. Libre can be abrasive at first though in general is a good professor. If you miss class consider yourself falling off the train. If you show up everyday and attempt the homework honestly it can be easy. His website has a discussion feature that shows stuff from old semesters so you can find answers in there without having to dig too hard.
Very difficult class, not very forgiving on late work, homework 3 times a week, however there is a "grade guarantee" policy where you can be exempt from final exam if you have enough bonus points, exams are very difficult and no study guide or anything. Libre is the worst professor I've had in my 5 semesters here. I've completed 73 credit hours over the past 4 semesters with a 3.658 GPA and now I am failing his Civ Eng 2210 class at midterm. In canvas he puts in the test grades and then 3 "temporary settings" grades (temp1, temp2, temp3). Idk how I'm being graded. I'm extremely frustrated.
- 78% of your grade will come solely from exams. The exams don't follow his teaching style. - Homework assignments are only 22% of your grade. Can be lengthy - Grading scale and grade guarantee are hard to achieve if you don't do well on the exams. - Hard to tell if you are meeting the Additional Bonus Point extra 10% to your grade or not.
Overall class would be an amazing online course. Lectures are dedicated to working practice problems chosen by the professor, to learn the topics you must watch videos and attempt the homework BEFORE class. You do get a crib sheet for exams but most of the time you will be working through the homework with little to no professor help.
Great professor!! Gives a lot of bonus and extra credit. Great at explaining stuff and accessible outside of class. He has his own website for the homework and a YouTube channel where he explains all lectures. He recycles some past exam questions so be sure to look at those
You will sit in the class and do homework questions you did the previous night while watching YT videos to learn the course. He also does research on students so you are just a test subject in one of the hardest classes. My "temp settings" got changed, yet idk what I got on the final. Still.
